I've seen Das Creamery listed as one of the best ice cream shops in northern NJ for a few years now. Yesterday, I finally had a chance to see for myself. The verdict? Definitely, one of the best! The ice cream here was so creamy and delicious, my wife and I loved it. She had a cup of strawberry cheesecake and I had a cone with scoops of chocolate and butter pecan. Both were great, but the chocolate was amazing! The store is located in a strip mall on Rt 46 in Budd Lake. Plenty of parking and friendly staff behind the counter. Stop here if you want to treat yourself to something good! read more

The Banana Oreo may be my new favorite flavor of ice cream! Someone suggested it when we were walking in and I highly recommend. Das is the best ice cream around! Especially for vegans! They have rotating non dairy flavors - mint oreo, raspberry razzle, lemonade raspberry, black cherry, chocolate, etc. are the ones I've seen. They also have italian ice, and can make vegan floats and milkshakes! Every flavor I've gotten has been so yummy. The staff is ALWAYS so friendly and fast. The place itself is small and there is no seating inside, so it's more of a takeout place. There are benches outside though. Overall one of my favorite ice cream spots around. This is the second time we've come here. Both times from the moment we walked in the whole place from the paint on the walls to the freezers is geared towards the business and really gets you excited for ice cream! Having a big family we get a lot and the service is always quick! The ice cream is absolutely delicious and if you're unsure about it you can try it! The ice cream is cream-forward, but with enough sweetness to keep it in balance. I asked for help choosing between the mint chocolate chip and the Colombian coffee cookies & cream. The person behind the counter shared that the mint chocolate chip had just been put out, so I went with it as the "fresher" option. It stayed creamy throughout, with tantalizing bits of milk chocolate and no ice crystals anywhere. I was taken by the variety of original flavors on hand here. Shout out to this local gem!!! Homemade icecream with interesting cool flavor!! I got to try 3 different one today and I absolutely love the caramel corn flavor!!! She told me it just came out yesterday!! Woohoo!! Got to try the new stuff!!! Also the banana Oreo is really good... my son picked the last flavor because he likes the color orange (orange pineapple) but to my surprise!! It was very delicious as well!! Love to taste some pineapple pieces inside!! Also tried the cotton candy milkshake!! It was yummy!!! I mean who doesn't like cotton candy right? This is my first review and I'm new to Yelp, so please have some grace! I'm a local to Mount Olive and have always loved going to Das Creamery--usually my experiences have been great. However, today during a late lunch visit, something happened that left me really disappointed. I was being helped when the owner (who I recognize from past visits) came from the back and abruptly interrupted our conversation to loudly scold them over a stainless steel table. This happened right in front of me and other customers. Honestly, I was shocked. I've never witnessed a boss speak to their employees like that in public- it felt harsh, humiliating, and completely unnecessary. The table didn't even look dirty to me. I couldn't help but feel for the workers who were clearly embarrassed. While I still love the ice cream, this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope this was a one-off, but it really impacted how I view the business. read more

It was my first time stopping into Das' Creamery. I had heard about this place through the North Jersey news site. There are many options of ice cream flavors beyond your basic flavors. They offer several options of cones. I ordered a small Colombian Coffee Cookies and Cream. The small cup comes with one scoop of ice cream. The coffee ice cream itself tasted good and not too strong. The cookie part was so delicious. The pairing made sense. I also tried a small wafer cone of chocolate ice cream. The cone was filled to the very bottom with ice cream! Shop features excellent home made ice cream, hand dipped waffle and sugar cones, cakes and other treats including a pop-tart ice cream sandwich. I enjoyed a three scoop sampler featuring For the Sage of Maple, Colombian Cookies and Cream, and Desserted Island. The first featured a nice balance of sage and a lot of candied walnuts, maple ice cream was not too sweet. Second was my favorite, full and rich coffee flavor, with a lot of cookies. The Desserted Island was sweet, enjoyable also. Service was on point. No seating in the shop but there are a lot of benches and tables in the courtyard nearby. The staff were great! They were welcoming and fast! The hard ice cream was absolutely fantastic! The reason for my 2 star review is that most of my family members ordered soft serve while it tasted fine like soft serve they only filled around the outer edge of the cup which i thought was a mistake with mine but everyone who ordered had the same thing so I guess they intentionally only do the outer edge of the cup to make it look like your getting a full cup then you put your spoon in and realize its all empty in the middle. Other reviews say the same thing. It must be a business practice to only give half the amount of what you think you're getting. read more

Writing this review for the Morristown location since they are not available on Yelp yet. I ordered a medium ice cream and this is what I got. This is the poorest portion of ice cream I have ever seen. There is more empty space in here than there is ice cream. It's so bad I went back and told the guy behind the counter I ordered a medium and they gave me the wrong size. He said this is a medium and he was told to serve these portions. It's unfortunate because we go to the Morristown location frequently. Needless to say, we will not be returning back. Plenty of other options in Morristown/Morris Plains that are cheaper and offer larger portions. Scoop Station in Morris Plains is a great alternative that is less than 5 min away from this place for anyone wondering. Probably need to dispute the charge with the CC company to be honest, I think I have grounds to report this as a scam. read more

All I can say is Wow! I've never had ice cream like this from a shop- soooo creamy and delicious! Well named- it's not an ice cream shop- it's a true small batch creamery. Old fashioned, the way it should be. I tried three flavors. Cinderella's Ride, a seasonal flavor only available Labor Day weekend through Thanksgiving, was so delicious -pumpkin spice with cinnamon, clove & nutmeg. A new favorite! Then there was the Peaches & Cream- with chunks of peach jam from a local farm that makes it homemade with their own picked fresh peaches- it was very special & unique in flavor- almost floral. Lastly, I had the Cuppa T- a black tea flavored ice cream with just the right intensity. It is obvious this father & daughter team are very passionate about their ice cream & the ice cream experience. They truly put their heart & soul into their ice cream. I recently visited Das' Creamery and was very disappointed with my experience. The ice cream flavor I ordered had a strong and unpleasant aftertaste, which I didn't enjoy. When I politely asked the staff to change the flavor, the manager was extremely rude and disrespectful towards us. Instead of changing the flavor, she took that back and charged me half price for the other flavor. So disappointing. Its not about the money, but HER attitude. The only positive aspect was the friendly attitude of one staff member, for which we left a 15% tip even on a takeout. Overall, the combination of the poor flavor and the manager's attitude left us feeling dissatisfied and disrespected. I cannot recommend this place based on this experience. read more

The vegan ice cream was pretty good. They rotate their vegan flavors and had 3-4 when I was there (mint chocolate chip, a coffee one, mango, and something I don't remember.) The variety of flavors is nice but I'd prefer consistent, "boring" flavors in this case so I know I can find something I want. Sometimes I just don't like the flavors they have that day, and that's why I've only been once. I'm not sure why a place that only keeps a few vegan flavors on at a time wouldn't just offer a vegan vanilla and maybe chocolate too all the time. read more

Here's the deal : it's tucked in a strip mall near a liquor store & Dunkin Donuts .. they're doing take out only during Covid 19 ...there are a bunch of benches outside that customers can use to sit and enjoy their ice cream!! The creamery has a good variety of ice cream flavors. In addition to cones and cups you can also purchase pints of the flavors they provide. I grabbed the PB chunk. & Mint chocolate chip. I'm very sad to have to write this review. Over a year ago when I discovered Das' Creamery I was obsessed! The best ice cream I've ever had: amazing options, creamy consistency. Recently, I've grown more and more frustrated over the portion sizes. The scoops are comically small. It really feels like I'm being punked when the "large" is handed over the counter. I understand that the owners may use extra special ingredients or something, but the prices are pretty high so you would think that would allow for more reasonable portions. It feels very unfair. I can deal with either paying a little more or receiving a little less than competitors, but not both! Also, I hate to say this but the owners are not the nicest people. It's a very tense work environment. They go through employees faster than they go through a tub of ice cream considering the amount that they're scooping. read more

I had the pleasure of going into Das Creamery for the first time since moving to the area, the staff was very friendly and helpful with the questions I had about all of the unique flavors. Overall the ice cream was good however they charged me extra for a cone instead of getting it in a cup for one of my orders. If I had known this was the case I would've just ditched the cone. Never have heard of that before... but it was the appearance of the store took away from my experience. The purple wall was fun but looking at the details of the store it seemed cheap considering a cup of ice cream is $6. The toppings are in all cheap containers with sharpie writing and scotch tape on them. The outside posters are faded and windows are dirty. While I was looking around I noticed a scale where the ice cream was being weighed to make sure the employees don't give out too much ice cream... really?! The store was full and the ice cream alone is priced high, making sure the ice cream is a certain weight is ridiculous to me. The boy serving me filled my cup weighed it and then took ice cream out and put it back into the bucket all while I was watching. The experience was distasteful and the place just seems like a money grab. To the average customer it just seems stingy and tacky. Not the worst experience but not the most pleasant and well rounded ice cream shop. My advice would be to go to Walmart and get a PINT of ice cream for the same price maybe even less. read more
