Ventured over to Broken Yolk after an unsatisfactory visit to IHOP in Duarte. My son and I were seated immediately. The place was bustling at 11:30am but our waitress came in short order to take our order. My son chose waffles with strawberries & whipped cream, I opted for an omelet and a flight of Bloody Mary. Our food was in front of us in about 5 minutes. Best of all it was hot & tasty. Such a different experience to our failed IHOP visit about 30 minutes earlier. Overall, a successful brunch to celebrate spring break. My only disappointment was the flight of Bloody Mary. Not as flavorful as expecting. Upon entering, we noticed there were four people ahead of us who had just walked up to a lady, spoken to her, and were seated promptly. When it was our turn, the host informed us that she was busy and we needed to wait. We were left standing there as the host chatted with another coworker. Thankfully, another employee acknowledged us and assisted. We mentioned we wanted to sit outside and were told to wait. Despite having already added ourselves to the waitlist before arriving, a few other guests walked in and were seated right away while we continued to wait. When we were finally called and escorted to a table, I reiterated our request for outdoor seating. The host made an excuse as to why we couldn't be accommodated outside. Our waitress took our drink orders promptly, and the soft drinks arrived quickly. However, I watched our mimosa flight being prepared and then left sitting at the bar for several minutes while our waitress was nowhere to be found. The bartender eventually brought our drinks and commented that they had just been sitting there. When our food arrived, we asked for a few extra condiments. Again, the bartender had to go into the kitchen to retrieve them since our waitress had disappeared. She eventually walked by and asked if we were okay, but by then, it was too late. After finishing our meal, I wanted the bill and a box for my food, but our waitress was still nowhere to be found. I had to get up and ask for the manager, who was very condescending. Overall, the service was extremely poor. I will definitely not be returning to The Broken Yolk in Glendora. I I ordered the feta Avocado Toast with sunny side up egg. They gave us warn blueberry muffins with wip cream & strawberry drizzle for mine & my sisters bday. Big thank you to Courtney, our waitress. My gf and I had brunch here a month ago. Since then I have been wanting to take my husband here for breakfast. Today he was relieved of breakfast duty. Our server was Courtney, she was such a gracious and attentive host. Food was beyond amazing, my husband cannot get enough of the cold brew coffee. I had a sip and it was noticeably smooth and aromatic. He said that most places have sour cold brew because they let the coffee sit around too long or they start with poor quality (usually over roasted) beans. I had the sope benedict and my husband had the waffle with chicken strips. Both dishes just hit the spot, the taste was on point, the hollandaise sauce on that piece of battered chicken breast was simply umami! The sope benedict was such a creative combination, it was savory and comforting. We were blown away by the freshness of the fruit bowl. Unlike other places that serve fruit pieces with wilted edges and just look like a soggy mess. Broken Yolk do it right, the fruits were obviously freshly cut, and in season as well so they were the perfect ending to a very satisfying meal. read more

We've been to the Broken Yolk Café a few times now, and I have to say, we've enjoyed our visits each time. I think each time we come to the Broken Yolk Café we try something new each time. Today we came with my Mama. It was not terribly busy today but when you come in, be sure to check in at the front desk to get your name on the waiting list. They usually take your number and text you when your table is ready. Our wait time today was a mere 15 minutes and it went by pretty fast. (Note, though: some people will come in to the lobby waiting area and leave the door open so flies come in, kind of a buzzkill when you have to swat at them--so if you're cool with being the one to close the door, you're aces in my book. I just don't like having these nice folks at the BYC having to do triple duty of fly swatting while already taking care of us. Anyway, we tried something new today, on the menu for us to try was appropriately enough, Mom's omelet for my Mama, and the hubby had the Ranchero Skillet, while I went for something pretty yummy to me, the New York Steak and eggs. The Mom's omelet is mostly vegetarian, I think, and Mama chose to not have it any different. She had some nice home fries with her omelet as well as some sourdough toast with butter. My Hubby's Ranchero skillet, was off the hook! They seasoned it so well with just the right amount of zesty and spicy flavours that make you go "mmm mmm good"! My NY steak and eggs were done just right, I usually get them medium rare, and they were cooked at the right temp, so perfect! With it I had the side of home fries done well, and the blueberry muffin--which I must say was crumbly and very tasty with butter, so good I pretty much ate it up! For drinks we had coffee, the messy caramel latte--hot! And of course, a nice tall glass of Pomegranate mimosa. Our server, Jennifer was swamped! But she took the time to make sure our order was correct, and our drinks nice and hot. I think that next time I'll try the chicken and waffles Benedict, simply because it sounds darn delish, and maybe another kind of French toast, of which they have some nice choices. So if you're looking for a fun new breakkie spot, make it a point to stop by the Broken Yolk Café, I recommend it! First time coming to a Broken Yolk cafe and I left pretty impressed. Greeted when we entered and our party of 4 was seated pretty quickly. Restaurant was nice and spacious and pretty clean. Our server was very friendly and gave us some recommendations. She also came by a few times to check on us and refilled our water. Food also came out pretty quickly. I got the hash skillet and it was pretty good. The hash looked a little weird and the texture was kind of weird, but it tasted really good when you mixed it with all of the other ingredients and added some cholula hot sauce to it. My coworkers got the chilaquiles bowl and some different egg Benedicts and they all said it was really good. Huge menu with a lot of stuff to choose from.
