FYI, islands is very pro-community and offers organizations an opportunity to earn 20% of all proceeds for their group's projects and activities. During this recent visit, service was OUTSTANDING! Each employee who assisted us went above and beyond in making us feel welcome and each employee provided superior service. Islands isn't that common of a "gourmet" burger sit down restaurant franchise and when we finally had the opportunity to dine at one, we jumped at the chance. We came here ages ago during July 4th weekend, and I clearly remember since we just came back from Anime Expo and aside from maybe a take out order and another customer, we were the only ones there. Very chill and relaxed and workers were all welcoming smiles. The tropical island vacation theming of the restaurant is great. I can't complain about that. It's hard to find places that aren't modern minimalist hellscapes, so that's nice to see the fake parrots, tropical prints and fake plants, and much more. For our visit, each of us got our own burger, drink, and fries. I got the Hawaiian burger. We're at Islands, why not get something on theme? We all just came to the consensus things were meh. Burgers were a bit sloppy with all of the sauce and filling. Patty was a bit dry. Fries were styrofoamy already and salty as well. I think another disappointment was that we were so excited to try a place named Islands thinking that things would be more tropical island themed, but that's not the case. Love this place for its burgers but miss the unlimited fries. The beers are always served cold in a frosty mug that's always a plus. I normally get the Big Wave Dave but had another burger this time that was also very good. Our Rancho location closed so this one is now the closest to us. If you are offered scallions for the cheesy fries, take it. Really wakes up the fries. The only issue was the drink. Chose the Pineapple & Prickly Pear based on the picture. Looked so delicious. We came in for lunch right after they opened today and our server had 4 tables in her section that had all just been sat back to back. From where I sat I could see her running the entire section with ease. She was on top of drinks, orders, napkins etc. But a small detail that I really appreciated was when she let me know the sauce in the dish I was ordering had recently changed. It is located in the Eastland Shopping Center on the top level. It has plenty of parking in front and the entrance is along the walkway. It is clean and welcoming, you have to wait for the hostess to seat you. Happy Hour is allowed throughout the restaurant which makes it perfect for large groups. We ordered drinks and my husband said grenadine after he ordered meaning for the mai tai- the girl brought his Long Island with grenadine and it tasted like beer. I'm not blaming the server, it's his fault - but it was funny when he took a drink. This review is strictly for the salad I had. I had the kobb salad with the eggs, chicken and blue cheese. It was good but I could hardly taste the eggs because so little bit in the salad. The chicken was dry and NOT much chicken as well. When the salad arrived I was a bit surprised because of the size normally when a salad is ordered you expect a little more. The service was outstanding our waiter Christian was very attentive and pleasant. Place was chill, family friendly and very accommodating to us parents with strollers. We had phenomenal service we experienced for the first time how a team can work together to create such a great experience and helping their work load. We had the pleasure to meet about 7 employees bringing our food bev and anything we needed. They changed the Chanel to our dodger game which was awesome! All burgers where delicious, we tend to share our food to see how good or bad they are but this place was 5 stars all around! From the wings having a buttery Buffalo taste to the sauces and drinks. My family and I came here after shopping around at IKEA and it was such a great time!! We went on a Sunday around 1 and we were sat right away! Our server came up to us pretty quickly and was really helpful answering any questions we had! The food also came out pretty quickly! Each of the burgers/sandwiches we got were really flavorful!! I was also pretty impressed that they offer vegan options for the burgers as well (which my sister said was pretty good). The Toucan sandwich was also pretty good -- just a little messy from the sauce. All the food here was really good and I would definitely recommend trying it out!! The only thing that was a little bit of a bummer was that a lot of the fries were definitely overcooked for each of us. Legit the worst burger and fries I've ever had in my life. I also paid for ranch that I did not get. Mind you, this is literally like a $35 meal. I've been sick with Covid and this is the first meal I've had in like two weeks and it tasted like complete crap. The burger had no mayonnaise no ketchup nothing and it was dry like the desert. Complete waste of money. I even called and had spoke to someone about requesting mayonnaise on the burger and to make sure that they don't forget my ranch and there wasn't even ketchup in the bag. What happened to Islands?!! I hadn't been there for a while and I was really disappointed. I had a Hawaiian burger and the pineapple was paper thin. The white bread was bad; not that it was spoiled or anything, just that it did not taste good and the texture was...I can't explain it; it was just bad. The fries didn't taste good either. How do you go wrong with fries? You just fry it and sprinkle salt right? Well, maybe it's the potatoes they use. I almost didn't finish my burger. I will not go back again. I was singing its praises to my companion, but alas it is only available on their "lunch menu" and here we were for a late lunch at 3. Who knew Islands has a lunch only menu?- not me! Oh well there are still lots of yumminess to choose from. I got a Shorebird chicken sando and companion got the Kanapali Cobb salad. We both loved the fries, especially with that ranch on the side. So good. My shorebird was tasty but about 1/2 way through I gave up on the bun bottom. It seemed way underbaked and was extremely soggy. I can't do soggy bread. So weird because top of the bun was brown and perfect. Weird. The chicken was succulent and juicy as always. Love the consistency here. Oh we also enjoyed spinach artichoke dip appetizer. Islands has the best version of all the chains in my opinion! Crispy fresh chips and super-tasty hot dip. Iced tea and Coke on tap was on point! I think its worth mentioning not all fountain drinks are created equal. Islands gets it right! All in all, a great dining experience at Islands. Our server was really good. I still really like Islands, but they've taken our favorites off the menu! I was so sad when they closed the locations close to me. Then they took the kalua tacos off the menu. I was so excited that they finally brought them back, BUT the cilantro creme that basically made the tacos is not back. They also removed the Hula, which was my husband's favorite, and they removed the chili burger, which was my daughter's favorite. The service is always good. The food is good, but since they closed the locations near me and took our favorites off the menu there's not as much opportunity or incentive to go. They also don't put the rewards code on the receipt anymore, so I didn't even get my points because I didn't tell the server I was a rewards member. They used to have a bar code or QR code you could scan so you didn't have to make the server so an extra thing ‍ And I really wish they would use macadamia nuts in their desserts instead of almonds. I'm allergic to almonds, but I can eat macadamia nuts and they'd go with the Hawaiian theme much better! read more

A few times I've had to wait when going in on a weekend, but it's moves along pretty fast. There's many shops nearby to pass the time. My favorite drink to order here are the Mai Tai's. They are refreshing and delicious. They transport me to Hawaii every time. They are strong and perfect to cool you off on a hot summer day. Today I came in and was greeted with a smile by the hosts and got seated right away (it was noonish). My server, Lauren was super attentive and friendly. Ok, here we go! I was having high hopes for this ISLANDS since I hadn't been in so long, took the kids, and loved the vibes when walking in, just like I remembered! But the min we go sat I already knew this experience was going to be bad when our server Brandon came up introduced himself but had this like douchey attitude like he didn't want to be there to serve us! We put an order of fries in for the kids and tempura green bean beans for us to start. 30 min later, they came out and still needed a refill on my drink, never got it. He took our actual food order. I ordered the pipeline, and my wife had the Hula, both burgers came out cold and buns were soggy like a sponge, still no refill, Brandon never came back to check on us or bring napkins it was like he was hiding out in the back talking. The person who brought out our food, the nicest dude ever, asked if we needed anything else and made us feel like actual customers. I enjoyed his 2 min interaction with us than our actual server, Brandon. I was severely disappointed. Still no refill. Brandon FINALLY came back asking us if we wanted dessert or boxes. He brought the boxes and the check and scurried away quickly. Still no refill. He came back quickly to pick up the check and brought it back.
