This will be a long review, since our experience was weird in several ways. I'd like to start by saying that the food was delicious. The ambiance was great and had a fun atmosphere. I definitely would come here again. However, I would make sure to have a different server. Our server's name was Shay. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes before she came. It was a busy night, we understand the delay. But then instead of just bringing us waters, she came and told us she wasn't sure if she should bring us waters or just come ask if we knew which drinks we wanted to order... I feel like it's basic service to automatically bring water. Then even after she asked, we waited another 10 minutes. We were all very thirsty from our long day at the parks and weren't happy with how long we waited for water. Then she took forever to come take our orders and then it took even longer for our food to come. All of our entrees came at once except for one. When the waitress noticed, she offered a 10% discount for the inconvenience. But when she came back, the last meal had come out. The server said "oh, your food came much quicker than I thought it would. Good. Should I still ask my manager to give you a discount..?" How could you try to take a discount away that you already offered? One of our party member's birthday was that evening, so I took the server to the side and asked if they do anything special for birthdays. She said they do a free cake and sing a song. Once we were finished with our entrees, she came and asked "what would the birthday girl like for her dessert?" And listed a few different cake options. The bday girl asked for a lemon raspberry cake. Then the server came out with the raspberry cake.... AND a chocolate cake. And she said "here's your cake you chose, and the chocolate cake which is the cake we give complimentary for birthdays." What?! Why was she not clear when she asked which cake the bday girl wanted? Who wants two cakes? She was very full from her entree. We were charged for one of the cakes. If the bday girl thought we had to pay for the cake, she would have declined. Then to top all of it off, the server charged us an automatic "service fee" that the restaurant charges for parties of 8 or more. Which is 20%. That kinda sucks just because the service was not good and we would not have wanted to tip that much. But also, we feel we should not have been charged the service fee because 2 "members" of our party were infants who did not even get food ordered for them... because they are babies. The total number of members who ordered entrees was 7. One of our party members suddenly felt very ill and we had to leave the restaurant, otherwise we would have taken things up with a manager. Overall, it was a bad experience because the service was terrible. But food was delicious. read more

We spent the day at Arches, came into town late looking for a spot to eat! This was a gem! Our waitress Lanell was just the best! Super helpful on what was good to eat/drink there and even ran after us as my husband had left his credit card on the table. I had the trout and my husband had the ribs. Both very good. I recently visited Moab over the spring break with my family and after a long day of hiking and traveling all over we decided to go to the broken ore. The food was absolutely amazing and so was the service too, it was so good we went back to the restaurant later that week. Our first server, Mellan was excellent and helped us when needing help choosing food. Our second server, Mickey was amazing, we came close to closing time but he did not rush us at all and refilled our drinks after we had finished them. The food came out super fast and was excellent. The pulled pork was what I had and it was exquisite. The Broken Ore was the best restaurant that I went to while spending time in Moab and is a must go when visiting. read more

Great stop in Moab to finish off our day of national parks. Had a stellar experience at this restaurant tonight! Shay was our sever and she was attentive and energetic!! 10/10 service and 10/10 food. The sweet potato fries are definitely worth the hype and are unlike anything I'd ever tried. They truly enhance the sweet in the sweet potato. This place just reopened a few weeks ago. The staff is friendly and efficient. Actually they were all TOO efficient that the appetizer and dinners came almost all at once within a minute between them. We wanted to enjoy beer and an appetizer first We felt very rushed. There were only 5 tables occupied at 7:30 pm. Th server didn't ask me what size of beer I wanted. He automatically brought me a huge mug which I didn't want. I just wanted a glass. I know the kitchen and the servers were well-trained and over-staffed to train a few new people. But serving so fast is a job for fast food restaurants. We are there to relax and chat to wine down the day. Wedge salad lettuce was not crispy, cut right out of the box; never being washed ( you know when it's washed or not). On top of it the food portion is very small for almost $30 beef brisket and $20 pulled pork was only a small scoop done w 3 bites. Side dishes were one bite each. They were not warm nor hot. I had to send them back to reheat them. The parchment paper they line the tray with gets soft w BBQ sauce so when you cut brisket w a knife, you cut the paper with it and ends up mixed w the beef and have to take the paper off w your fingers. Very disappointing experience. This place is nicely decorated and gives a nice ambience w log cabin decor. I'm in the food serving business. I have never had service this fast and felt disserviced. It has such a potential to do well. The kitchen crew needs to learn how to time before dishing out. The servers need to communicate w kitchen staff on the timing to serve main meal. I was pretty nervous I wouldn't have many options in such a small town but this place is a must if you are traveling with anyone gluten sensitive! Highly recommend! This place has always been crowded when I have tried to eat there. We stopped in, and there was a 20 minute wait, so we waited. While we were waiting, we wandered over to look at the pies and cakes in the display case, picking out what we wanted for dessert. I ordered medallions au bleu, my husband ordered trout. My steak was perfectly cooked, but the onions were far from caramelized. My husband enjoyed both his salad and his trout. Huge portions, we would have done well to have split an entree. My wife and I came here for dinner on our honeymoon in November and the food was amazing. No wonder the place was packed and a bit of a wait to get in. Was definitely worth the wait. The decor in the place is also very cool. Looks like a large log cabin with lots of interesting stuff hung on the walls. I don't know why this place has anything less than 5 stars!!! Staying in Moab in between our trip to Canyonlands and Arches and the food AND service were nothing short of amazing!!!! My boyfriend got the Fiery Furnace burger -- cooked perfectly and the flavors are insane. I got the Reuben and it was AWESOME. Sweet potato fries a must!! We also got a pitcher of beer to top off our day. The host and our waitress Melena were seriously 2 of the nicest restaurant employees we've encountered in awhile (and that's all the way from the east coast too!) Traveling from Denver to Phoenix with a stop midway in Moab. I was really hungry and did not want to settle for anything less than amazing food. Only problem is I've never eaten at this place before. I figured I'd give them a shot. I was not disappointed. I ordered the bbq burger and loaded hot wings. Wow both were amazing! Our server Diana was amazing. As we waited for our food I saw them bring out a tray of food for what I thought was the table next to us. Surely it can't be our food. That was fast. It was our food. The burger was so good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. They were actually out of several items on the menu (and adult beverages too) and said they had been busier than expected. In fact, they were going to close an hour early because they were running out of food. We couldn't try the sweet potato fries because they were out and sadly, that was the main reason we came here. The food we got was fine, but nothing to rave about. But, we were tired after a long day and didn't feel like finding another option. Food was outstanding! Everything we ordered was fantastic!! It's the service... they are a busy restaurant and with great food understandable. It took 15 minutes for us (2 people) to put in a drink order. (Soda and water) we decided to order food so we didn't have to wait longer. It took JC (our server) another 10 minutes to get us drinks. When the food was delivered about 25minutes later(this wait is okay and understood) however, the food was wrong. The main dish was okay however the sides were wrong. They took the plate away and returned 10 minutes later with an additional side but still not correct. Then told me the aide I requested was not available. (Still okay, if someone told us) however about 5 minutes later the correct side was delivered to us. With all of this in mind our server did not deliver any of the food and has been MIA from the first drink/food order. He reappeared after the mysterious side dish arrived. We had to ask bus staff for refills and the hostess for our check... If we return we will make sure we do not get JC's section. read more

This is one of the finest restaurants I have visited in America. I am a senior who has been to many establishments in my life and I give this one my highest recommendation. The food is superb, the decor (mostly wood) is enchanting, and the service is superb. Our waitress, Ashia, is one of the best waitresses I have ever had serve my wife and me. She was extremely attentive, provided prompt service, answered all our questions with thoughtful responses, and went the extra mile when I told her I had certain medical conditions to accommodate my needs and requests. I highly recommend this charming establishment slight hidden off the main road. You will enjoy it as my wife and I did, and also the many (but not too many to crowd the place) other diners I saw and with whom I chatted about their experience. read more

My husband and I had a great dining experience tonight. Broken Oar was recommended by our hotel across the street. Great beer selection and terrific selection of lighter fare and full meals. We went here tonight for dinner. The food was four stars alone but I'd easily give the service five. Our server was super sweet and attentive, and when my friend mentioned to him that it was my birthday several staff members sang us a song. It was clearly awkward for them amd we were told it wasn't normal for them but the customer service in it was amazing - we honestly weren't expecting it at all. Tucked a block behind the main drag in Moab in a cabin like building with a relatively ample parking lot is the broken oar restaurant. We ordered a chicken caesar and a beef brisket platter. Both of us found our meals to be tasty. Beer available in a glass, mug, or pitcher. The mug is huge! I think I had more beer in my mug than salad on my plate but both were good so I can't complain. The server took a while to get to us at our first seating outside and it looked like it was going to storm so we went inside to be reseated in a place where we thought we might be able to complete an entire meal without getting wet and potentially electrocuted. This restaurant probably has the worst service I have ever experienced. We were seated immediately and our completely inept waitress Tanda, came up to us and took our orders at 7:15. Appetizers came out almost immediately. I did not have any since I was looking forward to the barbecue. After that, no one visited our table for an hour. We then politely asked Tanda at 9:00pm what the reason for the hold up and she stated "sorry, the kitchen is backed up and your food should be out in a minute. About 10 minutes later, she came back and said, "Sorry, I forgot to put your order in, but we are prioritizing your order. At this point, we were starving and we had two young children with us. We had asked for bread and more salad to help us get by. I had to get up and signal for her in the kitchen ten minutes later and she said, "Sorry, they made the salad, but did not bring it out." By 9:30, the dinners didn't come out and I left the rest of my party because I had to bring some things to a friend in the hospital. After the horrible service, they comped soft drinks, (which came with the kids' meals) and gave the kids a slice of chocolate cake. Do everything you can to avoid this restaurant and if you get Tanda as your waitress, run away as fast as you can. read more
