    Short walk to the river
    Hans V.

Food was great! Amazing burger, cooked to perfection. Ambiance was great too, great live music and great layout, right next to the river, awesome! Now to the not so good... the bar. Holy hell, talk about lack of or perhaps totally inept service, spent a total of 25 minutes waiting next in line... for two beers. No delegation, despite having multiple bar backs, bartender/manager(?) couldn't remember a drink to save her life, had to ask her customers what they ordered 2, 3, sometimes 4 times (!) and still managed to get drinks wrong (there was a graveyard of miss poured drinks in front of the taps lol), could barely reach the taps (please get her a taller step stool), was doing dishes while she had customers... in front of the dish washer... and took zero responsibility and didn't apologized for anything. Mind you I witnessed all of this while being the only other customer next in line... twice. After waiting for 10+ minutes the second time, (and still not busy at all) she seemingly didn't know I was there the entire time because she started helping someone else (who seemed to read the room better than I) and just tried to slide his order in on her. I spoke up, told her I was next, and to her credit she got my order... but... gave me a hazy instead of a regular IPA. I didn't say anything about the beer as I wasn't about to keep waiting, gave her some honest feedback, paid, and walked out. Now for the cherry on top. After the delicious burger we wanted to try their dessert menu (unfortunately the banana cream pie was lackluster at best, tasted out of a box) and we decided to try to order a beer through the restaurant rather than the bar. We got and took our time finishing dessert, and wouldn't you know it, still no beer. Ended up just going in and canceling the beer order. Unbelievable, haha. At that point all we could do was laugh, while we probably would have stayed and had more drinks as we had the sitter longer, there was no way we were going to sit there to maaaaaybe get what we ordered... at some point... or risk her coming out to ask what we ordered... so we just went home. On the plus side we got a nice view of the river just a short ways from the restaurant. Hope to go back soon, but will definitely check the comments to see if the bar has been sorted first lol.

    Fried pickles and beer.

Deep fried pickles and $5.00 beers. If that doesn't get you interested in Brody's restaurant, there's so much more! They have pulled pork sandwiches, wings, smoked sausages, trip tip, chicken, brugers, salads, and more! There's live music on Friday's, corn hole, great service, a friendly vibe, and a good selection of wine and beer. It's located off Freeport Boulevard, in Freeport, right next to the river. There's plenty of parking and plenty to fill your belly, and warm your soul.

Tri-tip sandwich with no cheese and waffle fries

We stopped by here for dinner on a weeknight. Both parking in the front and overflow parking were filled. Luckily, there was one spot for us right in the front. Counter service. Place an order at the counter and grab your own seat. There are indoor and outdoor seating. Self serve water and condiments station. I decided on tri-tip sandwich no cheese and waffle fries. Tri-tip was a bit dry and they didn't put enough bbq sauce. The waffle fries was the best of the night. Side salad was nothing special. My bf and his friends got the smokehouse platter and beef rib. Customer service was great. Parking can be packed and tight.

Came by for brunch on a Sunday around 11am and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't too busy yet. They do have outdoor seating, which looked nice, but it was a bit too cold for us to enjoy that option. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away by a young staff member who was super friendly and welcoming. He asked if it was our first time (it was), gave us a quick rundown of how things work, and pointed us toward grabbing a menu and finding a table. The ordering setup is more of a walk up style, which personally isn't my favorite for a sit down brunch. I usually prefer to just settle in and be served but it didn't take away from the overall experience. The food is really what made this place stand out. I ordered the Birdie Sandwich and it was packed with flavor! the egg was cooked perfectly and everything just came together so well. It came with potatoes that were crispy and well seasoned, plus a small salad with a dressing that was honestly so good. We also tried the fried pickles, which were solid, especially with their ranch (it reminded me of that dill style dip from La Bou). The French toast was definitely on the sweeter side but really delicious and my daughters loved it. My husband ordered the tri tip omelette and enjoyed it as well. I also liked that they offer a "2 sides" option, which is a great deal. I went with waffle fries (super crispy) and a Caesar salad that was light and fresh. The Vietnamese coffee was spot on too. strong and perfectly balanced. The only thing that fell short for me was the beef rib we got to go. For the price, the portion felt pretty small compared to other local spots. That said, everything else we tried was really good and the service especially from that same staff member was attentive and genuinely kind. Overall, I'd definitely come back, just probably skip the rib next time.

The best BBQ restaurant I've ever been to! All quality meal at reasonable prices. The chicken was great! Tender with a rich, smoky flavor. I also tried apple caleslaw, made with apple infused vegies. Absolutely delicious! They offer many options beyond BBQ, the breakfast here is amazing too! Everything is really well balanced and satisfying!!

Second time here love the outdoor seating area options. There are 3 spots to choose from when you order your food at the counter. First time I came I got the pulled pork waffle fries. I could have done without the cheese on the waffle fries but the pulled pork was spot on. The other we came for breakfast and I got the breakfast omelette and it was amazing. Perfect balance of all flavors. Not too heavy not too sweet or not too salty. One of favorite places. Happy hour is 3-6pm and $5 beers and 2-3$ off certain items in the menu.

BBQ CHICKEN SANDWICH with waffle fries and a tiny little salad

This is such a great place!! You immediately smell BBQ as soon as you get out of your car. So many great choices... burgers, sandwiches, salads...you can also get an order of meat, sausage or chicken and the sides, (cornbread, potato salad, beans...all the usual suspects). Good selection of drinks (alcoholic and non) and dirty sodas. There is also a huge beverage container with ice water. Employees are very kind and helpful.

Amazing service and such a calm, family-friendly ambiance. The drinks were great, the BBQ was really good, and the cornbread was honestly one of my favorite parts. The fries were so good I could've finished an entire order by myself. Definitely a spot worth coming back to.

First timer! Came with my friend to check out this place since it was both on our list to try. Place is cute with a lot of outdoors seating. Indoors is limited. Great place to come for a gathering and getting some sun. Staff were wonderful and gave us the details on how it works right when we walked in and checked in on us often too. Ordered the sample platter and it was a lot of food for 2 girls! Surprisingly, the sausage was my favorite. I did wish the ribs were more fall off the bone. The bbq sauce did make everything extra tasty! Did wish I had stomach space for cornbread. I also got a chocolate chip cookie which was perfectly soft with chocolate chunks, the way I like it.

Came here to get a couple of Happy Hour drinks before I head out to dinner. I want to stress it started to get busy. I was next in line at the bar. Bartender named Rebecca per the receipt directed another staff member to take my order, that person disappeared. It appeared the Rebecca was done with customer and I asked a question. She scolded me and said I will finish with them then u, while sarcastically gesturing both hands at me. I ordered two drinks to be efficient so I dont have to order again. She said I can come back when I am done with first one. She said she would bring my drink outside. Waited about 10 minutes and it did not come. I walked into bar, drink was made and sitting on back counter she handed it to me. I went outside to drink it and decided to go in to get my second drink. I asked for my drink, she seemed annoyed, made eye contact and did not acknowledge me. She made at least 10 cocktails while I was waiting. A person even walked in to bar and ordered two drinks and she made them immediately, she was so sweet to that person it was obvious she knew her. I grew impatient watching her make other drinks and I asked for a refund. She said my drink is next but willing to give me refund. I have been sitting another 10 minutes at bar. I then asked her how come there is no bacon in my Bloody Mary. She said happy hour does not get bacon. I have been here before for happy hour and there is always a big piece of bacon. Passive aggressive behavior. Obviously she was overwhelmed, but don't take it out on me. Maybe Rebecca cannot handle rush hour, have another bartender during this time I rated this place a 4 before but not today. This is my fourth time here and always had good customer service. Would rate zero if I could.

Waffle fries and 1 (LB) PULLED PORK
    Kaitlyn L.

Yummy hidden gem! The waffle fries were crisped to perfection and delicious. The pulled pork was soft and flavorful. I like their spicy house made bbq sauce and the best part is that it is served warm! The sausage was similar to a hot link and also good. We arrived at 6:30 pm on a Thursday and they were already sold out of the tri tip and beef ribs so make sure you come early.

I had a craving for a tasty, juicy, burger. There aren't very many really good burger places in Elk Grove. I heard from friend that Brody's had a good one, so I went to try. You order at the counter, pay, and then you find a seat in the dining area with your number. I ordered a Freeport burger. It comes with the choice of a salad or waffle fries. I opted for the waffle fries. The burger tasted ok, but the I thought the burger was over cooked. The edges around the patty were kind of on the crispy side, hard. The meat patty was not whole, it was split in half, but not evenly, and the grilled onions were in between the very thin patties. It seemed like it was an afterthought, or they forgot to do something. Anyways, the final product wasn't great. I was disappointed. Everything in the burger was nice, except the meat.

Food: 4.5 Mics Service: 4.5 Mics Ambiance: 4.5 Food: I came for the Dino Rib and it was tasty and smoky flavored. The meat was tender. The only complaint is that the rib I got was fatty. The greens were tender and flavorful. The green had no spice but still was good. Potato salad was good, I'm not a relish in the potato salad type of guy but you may enjoy it. Service: I was greeted as I entered and given a menu. I was directed to back where the tables were. There was no server so I went and ordered at the counter. Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about. Ambiance: Log cabin vibes with cool gadgets here and there. It was clean and orderly. The fish tank was pretty cool. All in all, I'll return..I would recommend coming here and trying it out. I'll be back, maybe for some brisket in the weekend.

I opted for the avocado toast which was on some delightful bread and had a fresh salad on top. The husband and mom both ordered the eggs benedict (husband went with salmon, mom went traditional) and they loved it! The husband doesn't even ordered eggs benedict normally and devoured it. Oh yeah, the mom also ordered a pizza once she saw the table behind us order it and we had a slice each but took most of it home. Was great! Overall, great brunch spot with excellent food. Come for the food, stay for the vibes.

It felt like we're in some amusement park, 5 minutes later we got a text that we had a table ready for us. Inside the restaurant felt very cozy yet rowdy (in a good way). We ordered their Famous French Toast, Eggs Tower, Thai Steak & Eggs, and the Madame Cristo. Everything in our meal was delicious, and hit in all the right places. Not to mention our server was holding it down for us providing outstanding service even while pregnant. Great restaurant, great food, great service. Definitely wanting to come back!

It's been years since I've been, mainly because of the long wait times and no reservations on weekends. As a planner, I gravitate toward places where I can make a reservation. However, it was a special occasion, so we committed to it on a holiday weekend. The wait was estimated at 1.5 hours for a party of 7, but it ended up being closer to 40 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all. The patio and waiting area are gorgeous and make the wait worth it on a beautiful day. Great shade from the trees, solid service, and a really nice ambiance overall. The menu is massive with a little bit of everything and huge portions, so it's quite hard to decide. I settled on the Madame Cristo because it sounded decadent and somewhere between lunch and breakfast, which felt perfect for brunch. And decadent it was. The cheesy ham and béchamel blended into this super rich, fatty bite balanced by the French toast it was sandwiched between. The eggs on top were almost overkill, but still a welcome addition for some protein. The chipotle raspberry jam was surprisingly good too, almost like a smoky raspberry salsa that added sweetness and helped cut through some of the richness. The potatoes were standard and nothing to write home about. It was definitely a lot, but pretty good and exactly what you expect from a brunch spot like this. I'm not going to say the food is mind-blowing, but it's solid and they have unique dishes, great vibes, and something for everyone to enjoy. Nice to see that Tower Cafe is still doing well after all these years and remains a great place to celebrate special occasions.
