We made it to the Thursday opening. Very tasty.

An excellent little bagel shop with very strange hours. The lines are pretty decent now and it's definitely worth adding to your weekly breakfast schedule. We love the plain especially. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would take a warm bagel and munch on it while walking through the beautiful garden section at Bay Hay and Feed next door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The most amazing bagels! They have a wonderful selection of classic flavors with some lovely fun ones too. Every bagel was perfectly soft and so yummy. We especially loved their sesame and Salish everything bagels, plus the mascarpone chip and smoked sriracha scallion schmears, and their classic lox sandwich was delicious too. It's definitely worth stopping by!

Stumbled upon this place while exploring the island. There was a line but oh so worth the wait. I just had a plain bagel with cream cheese (I know how boring) it was so fresh and tasty. I would recommend and I will be going back next time I'm there.

Pictured here is their signature classic lox bagel. Abundant lox and just enough capers and red onions on an excellent plain bagel!

Open Weekends (F, Sat, Sun); Wonderful bagels - real find on the island. Can get them individually, with schmears, and as sandwiches.

Blackbird Bakery is the only bakery that popped up in my search results when I was doing research…read moreon where to grab pastries for breakfast during my visit to Bainbridge Island. It's clear this was the case for others as well, as there was a large line extending outside the door onto the sidewalk when we arrived around 10:00 a.m. I ordered their multigrain toast with jam along with a savory croissant. The toast comes heavily buttered and the savory croissant for the day was topped with the fillings you'd fine in a spanakopita -- i.e. spinach and feta. I really loved the thickness of the toast slice and the degree that they toasted it: soft and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. They did not hold back from including a bunch of seeds in the bread, and that added a nice texture in every bite. The jam is on the sweeter side, but I like that it's on the side so you can control exactly how much sweetness you want to add. The savory croissant had good flakiness to it, but it would have been nice if we had an option to have it toasted. Overall, very good bakery that I'd gladly visit again if I'm back on Bainbridge Island. Definitely get the toast.

You can only get regular brewed coffee here; their pastries are the highlight. I have had their pear danish (superb and light) and orange almond cake without gluten (delicious). Scones, muffins, cookies, and canele are also laid out. In terms of bread, their bakery delivers from Port Townsend. Some of the boules and loaves do look hefty. I have bought the "ficelle" a light bread with a satisfying crust in the shape of a baguette. It works as a side bread for an Italian meal or with soups perfectly. The shop is a delightful nook for specialty gifts and treats. It does seem to display an "old world" ambience because of the low-slung roof and architecture. However, the workers are not wearing ironed bakery smocks. They are wearing dodgy street clothes which can touch the items and that's not very "old world Euro" now is it.

It has both a drive through window and a covered walk up with some limited seating. I lined up behind two other women out with their puppies in training. They had their coffees and both puppers received pup cups. I ordered a 20 oz mocha, needed to wake the eff up! Lucked out too because they had three, free bags of spent coffee grounds available. My Japanese maple will benefit from that. Friendly service, longer business hours, decent mocha, and your name & phone number gets entered in their POS system. No punch/stamp card needed. Bremerton keeps changing over the past 5 decades. Love that there's various great spots to get espresso in Kitsap County. Ristretto Stone, near Lebo & Wheaton, a worthy detour!

I didn't take any photos worth showing but, cheese bagel sandwich with cheddar, egg, and sausage was real good. Sausage patty tasty but a little thin. Scrambled egg square was tasty and large. Perhaps they could consider some type of sauce or condiment to compliment but this bagel sandwich is a winner. Next I tried the Apple cider donut with some cinnamon sugar. Ding Ding winner winner. Couldn't stop there and went with blueberry scone. That was also very tasty. Finally, I couldn't resist pumpkin muffin filled with cream cheese. Wow, everything was so good. No beverage this visit but so many other tasty things to choose from I will be back. To top it off smiles from the staff and pretty good pricing. Make sure you give them a visit.

On my most recent visit, I also tried the black sesame bagel with butter. It was good, but there was a bit more butter than I would have preferred, and the standard toast wasn't quite crispy enough for my liking. That's an easy fix though, and I'll just ask for it toasted a bit longer and less butter next time. I really love the location of this spot and am hoping to check out their other location soon. They share a great outdoor seating area with Sea Wolf Bakers and also have a small amount of indoor seating. There's usually a line on weekday mornings and a longer one on weekends, but it moves surprisingly quickly, so the wait has never felt unreasonable. One thing I especially appreciate is how light these bagels are compared to some other Seattle bagel shops. They have a great chew without feeling overly dense. Service has always been friendly and efficient. I still haven't tried any of their fish sandwiches, but that's next on my list. Until then, I'm perfectly happy sticking with a classic sesame bagel and cream cheese.
