The most amazing bagels! They have a wonderful selection of classic flavors with some lovely fun ones too. Every bagel was perfectly soft and so yummy. We especially loved their sesame and Salish everything bagels, plus the mascarpone chip and smoked sriracha scallion schmears, and their classic lox sandwich was delicious too. It's definitely worth stopping by!

Stumbled upon this place while exploring the island. There was a line but oh so worth the wait. I just had a plain bagel with cream cheese (I know how boring) it was so fresh and tasty. I would recommend and I will be going back next time I'm there.

Pictured here is their signature classic lox bagel. Abundant lox and just enough capers and red onions on an excellent plain bagel!

Briny Bagels has just started up this year, and it is a hidden gem in Rolling Bay on Bainbridge Island, if quality New York style bagels are your jam!! Added to that, service is superb, and the ambiance is just right! Well done guys - keep it up. You have something really good here! JT

    Opens early, home for sunrise!

Open Weekends (F, Sat, Sun); Wonderful bagels - real find on the island. Can get them individually, with schmears, and as sandwiches.

Great bagels. Definitely rivals any of the other Seattle bagel shops. They have a great rotating set of schmears and bagel flavors

In…read morefact, it's almost a given that when I encounter a tasty pie or pastry at a friend's house on Bainbridge, when I ask, it's almost a given that it came from Blackbird. They're expensive, but the old adage "you get what you pay for" definitely applies to Blackbird. You may pay more than you might somewhere else, but their quality is exceptional. Today I stopped by for one of their quiches--their spinach and goat cheese--and a lemon blueberry scone. Both were super yummy. I often get one of their chais too, which are also quite tasty (and not at all dry, a common problem with scones). Having Blackbird downtown makes it quite convenient to just stop by while on the way to elsewhere. But sometimes it can be a destination if...you can find seating, which is at a premium most of the day.

After being a BI resident and then moving away I was so excited to make time to stop by Blackbird…read more I had told several friends on the island that I was looking forward to stopping by the bakery and I was surprised to find they had lost their love for it. I figured it was due to taking it for granted... ...I was mistaken. Day one of our trip we ordered several items and none of them were very good at all. We ended up giving items away and thought maybe the bakery was just having an off day. The staff seemed bothered by having to take our order but hey- we all have tough days! Well...day two of our trip we decide to prioritize stopping by again. After a local saw us waiting 30 minutes for our toast and jam she told us to go ask and that "sometimes the staff can get really overwhelmed ". So my daughter stood in line a second time and was told that the employee heard we wanted it to go so it had been sitting at the end of the counter the whole time. We specified we wanted to eat it inside. We asked kindly if they could fix the mistake and we were happy to wait. To my genuine surprise the employee with the pink hair opened the bag of toast, plopped our three orders on trays along with the plastic to go tiny jams and dropped them on our table with the most dismissive uncaring attitude I've seen. You could get more care at a convenient store. We thought we'd try to eat them anyway and the pieces were cold and hard. I asked her about them and her response was "well you asked for to go". Not only does she seem incapable of doing her job basics but as an employer I'm shocked she is granted the simple tasks of serving toast in the first place. She made sure to put plenty of energy into gossiping with her co worker about her irritation with us. We have strong ties on the island still and come back often but we will gladly skip the visit here in the future. I certainly hope these staff members get some basic skills in customer service for their own future.

You can only get regular brewed coffee here; their pastries are the highlight. I have had their pear danish (superb and light) and orange almond cake without gluten (delicious). Scones, muffins, cookies, and canele are also laid out. In terms of bread, their bakery delivers from Port Townsend. Some of the boules and loaves do look hefty. I have bought the "ficelle" a light bread with a satisfying crust in the shape of a baguette. It works as a side bread for an Italian meal or with soups perfectly. The shop is a delightful nook for specialty gifts and treats. It does seem to display an "old world" ambience because of the low-slung roof and architecture. However, the workers are not wearing ironed bakery smocks. They are wearing dodgy street clothes which can touch the items and that's not very "old world Euro" now is it.

It has both a drive through window and a covered walk up with some limited seating. I lined up behind two other women out with their puppies in training. They had their coffees and both puppers received pup cups. I ordered a 20 oz mocha, needed to wake the eff up! Lucked out too because they had three, free bags of spent coffee grounds available. My Japanese maple will benefit from that. Friendly service, longer business hours, decent mocha, and your name & phone number gets entered in their POS system. No punch/stamp card needed. Bremerton keeps changing over the past 5 decades. Love that there's various great spots to get espresso in Kitsap County. Ristretto Stone, near Lebo & Wheaton, a worthy detour!

Couldn't stop there and went with blueberry scone. That was also very tasty. Finally, I couldn't resist pumpkin muffin filled with cream cheese. Wow, everything was so good. No beverage this visit but so many other tasty things to choose from I will be back. To top it off smiles from the staff and pretty good pricing. Make sure you give them a visit.

Mediocre bagel, apparently no service, but at least it was really expensive …read more I ordered a kippered salmon bagel for $16. The bagel itself was smaller than a typical bagel and had some capers and a small amount of cooked (not smoked) mashed up salmon in the center school lunch cafeteria style. The bagel was chewy but lacked any crispiness on the outside. Basic, not generous, amount of cream cheese. The salmon had barely detectable flavor if any, while most of the flavor came from the capers. Overall, I felt a bit like I had been scammed. The chocolate chip cookie was actually pretty good. Not great, but good enough. Note about the service: I walked up to the counter to order and asked if they would bring it out--the person i ordered from said yes--so I tipped accordingly. I took a seat in the main seating area on the patio and poured myself a glass of water from the self service station. After around 20 minutes of waiting and looking inside to see if anyone was coming out i walked in and asked one of the people preparing bagels if someone was going to bring my order out. He looked confused, pointing to a row of bags on the counter, one of which was my order. Now, I tip generously for service, but more often than not i don't tip when I order and pick up my own food at a counter. Again, I felt a bit scammed. There are much better bagel options in Seattle, and certainly ones that don't ask $16 for such an unremarkable one that I had.
