Last spring, I hired Brightstar Care to provide in-home care to my elderly mother. The caregivers were good, however the office accounting and accountability was atrocious. They did not provide regular detailed invoices yet charged my mother's credit card continually. After a month an a half and after I discontinued their service, I questioned the billing and had to insist on a full accounting. It took a while to get this, but it turns out, she was over charged over $800. My mother was finally refunded this amount but I was never given an explanation nor an apology, so I have to conclude it was due to incompetency, lack of oversight, and/or possibly fraud. read more

The most unreliable and inconsiderate home health agency in AZ. The are hit and miss with scheduling time to help me with my 92 year old mother. The nurse and provider were scheduled to come in on many occasions and they do not show up or even call. I've had to call and make the changes after they just blow me off. Some are very nice but not very professional. I needed help at home and I can not count on them to show up. I'm not sure if its poorly organized, incompetence, or they just don't care. If you're ok with a poorly run home health agency then you've reached the right agency. Out of frustration at them for not showing up I called then retarded. Unless I can get a better explanation after communicating with the owner I will stand by that. read more

Since 2012, Lisa Stone and her team at BrightStar Care of Tempe have been looking after my father-in-law, who lives in an independent living apartment in the Christown (formerly Chris Ridge) community in Phoenix. My husband and I have found Lisa and her staff to be caring, responsive, and very reasonably priced. My father-in-law is diabetic, and they have helped keep his blood sugar in check. In addition to day-to-day care, they provide transportation to his appointments at the Veterans' Hospital. They let us know when he needs important supplies. And they serve as our "eyes and ears" since we live so far from him and aren't able to visit frequently. I have been getting care from BrightStar for about six weeks while I recover from spinal fusion surgery. I need help because I am unable to bend or twist while my spine heals. This was the second time that no one came. When I called the office they did not know that the aide assigned to me today had not come. She was terminated and I will be given a credit for the hours that she missed. The office did the best that they could under the circumstances. I have been very happy with most of the other aides that they send to me. read more

This company has been around for many years and is franchised throughout the country. We hired one of their care-givers for 24 hour care from Monday - Thursday. We were told that she had experience working with alzheimers patients and for that reason we felt confident leaving my father with her. Thank goodness we have cameras set up around the house! I know that you need to give a person time to get comfortable with the routine and therefore we have to give some slack if they don't follow all the daily tasks right away but this caregiver, what she did was outrageous. Her second week with us we see (from cameras) that at my fathers bed time she stood in the hallway, said goodnight and went upstairs to bed while leaving him in the kitchen. She didn't make sure that he was in his pajamas, had brushed his teeth, and that he was in bed - she left him standing in the kitchen fully clothed not knowing what to do. He was walking around confused for at least 5 minutes before he went into his room. We called her and yelled at her to get back downstairs and put him to bed. So then she goes into his room and asks what he's doing, why he's not in bed "you told me you were going straight to bed" that's what she says to a man with alzheimer's. He said "I had things I had to do" which she replied "that's not normal. When you say you're going to bed - you go to bed". She continues to tell him that what he's doing isn't normal - does she know what alzheimer's is??? Uh - it's a given that he's going to do things that aren't normal, that's why we hire caregivers to look after him. We let her go. We couldn't believe what she did - how she put him in danger by not watching him. What's even more upsetting is that Brightstar did nothing. They still haven't returned our phone calls or helped us find someone new. When we called the owner of this franchise - Steve - to tell him what happened and that his company never called us he was dismissive and said "what do you want from me?". He wants to see the video of what happened before talking to me further. It's not a problem because I saved the tape but I don't see why I should have to prove myself to him. An apology and "what can I do to help you" would have been the right thing for him to do. read more

BrightStar was our first experience with a home health care agency. It was overwhelming positive! Met lots of nice caregivers. They all treated my father very well and we established personal relationships with them. Their care was vital for Dad's physical, emotional and mental health. Their meal preps and shopping made our home life much more manageable. Staff was always helpful to me in billing questions, settling problems, explaining things.
