tl;dr -- Yony and his team are some of the best movers in the city. I've used him exclusively for over 15 years, and I refer him to all of my friends and family because he has helped me survive the moving process many times during situations where otherwise my heart would have literally exploded from stress. I cannot recommend Brighton Moving Company enough. They are also a reasonable price for both the moves themselves, and the storage as well. I lived in Allston for 10 years, during which time there were many apocalyptic moving situations where you need to be out on the 31st, but you can't move until the 1st, and need storage overnight, and it's September, so all of the students are blocking the streets and getting Storrowed--every single time, the moves would be worse than I ever could have imagined, and every single time, Yony came in with a team of cardboard and packing tape-wielding angels that totally saved my skin, This recent time, I was up all night prepping for the move, apartment in complete chaos, heavy rain during my moving window, my crazy finance bro neighbor came up and started threatening me because of the noise (because he's an entitled crybaby loser)--I took a disco nap, and woke up out of terror and stress, and I felt the same thought that I get during every move: "I am completely screwed--there is no way that anyone could move this disaster-zone of an apartment." Even worse, there was even a DPW crane blocking a busy Boston street this time, and I missed my two-week window to reserve a spot for the truck to park. I thought I was done for--approaching complete ruinous defeat. But then! Yony showed up right on time, his two guys were quick and skillful. I must have looked like a corpse. "Hey man, put on some music!" It was a profound and immediate release of chronic stress. Nothing got broke or damaged, my landlord came by and I even got my security deposit back because nothing in the Back Bay apartment got damaged. Absolute deliverance. I am a total research psycho concerning reading reviews, comparing on Yelp/Google/whatever, rolling my eyes at boilerplate websites and making spreadsheets to compare services--I would never pick another mover. So they came about an hour late, and decided to go in my refrigerator and take a couple of Redbulls. Which would have been OK if they asked. They offered to replace them, and I said no, because again I would have gave them drinks if they asked. Also, you also can't pay by credit card, which is odd, because they take your credit card for a cancellation fee. I asked him if I canceled what would he do, all he said is they don't charge my card. Their estimate was way off, I had to pay an additional $200 more than I was quoted. Which was what other moving companies estimated, I would have gone elsewhere if I knew I couldn't pay by credit card. After my complaint they offered to help me with some stuff to make up for the issues. My problem is I don't know what that stuff is. A small credit back would have gone a long ways. read more

I hired my movers for 1pm last Saturday and they showed up at 2:20pm. I only had a two hour window to move my things, and the move went overtime with no time to breakdown one piece of furniture to move it in. My landlord was super angry at me, and my $400 dresser was on the curb. I told them it was fine if they leave at 4:20pm because they had a 4pm appointment. What was I supposed to do? Force them to stay? When I called the company about this issue, they basically said that I should have forced them to stay, which I now understand, but we never would have been in this mess if they showed up on time. The person on the phone said she could maybe compensate me by taking money out of the movers paycheck, but I said wtf no because it wasn't their personal fault. Carlos and the other movers were nice and hardworking. The business should have compensated me for their poor planning. I later found out that they charged the women before me for going over time. I definitely should have been compensated with some of that fee. After talking with the business on the phone I realized it was going no where. They didn't care that I had a horrendous experience. I needed to get movers at the last minute (had planned on doing it myself, threw my back out, etc) and called several places around the Boston area. John got back to me with a quote quickly, and the price was reasonable (about equivalent with a couple other places, cheaper than some). The day of the move came and while they were running late, they let me know and gave me a new estimated time and arrived at that estimated time. All three movers (led by Carlos, who was fantastic) treated my belongings well and worked with me to get it all across town and up to the third floor of my new apartment quickly and safely. I just move last week with Brighton Moving to relocate my house staff within from Newton to Billerica Ma. They provided me with on site moving quote that includes all the services that I needed. The move took one day as planed and the moving crew was great, fast and very professional. That saves me a great amount of stress. I didn't have to be involved in the move process from the start to the completion of the move. They were very polite and efficient (which is important when your belongings are in the other hands), high recommend, I will hire again if I need. Moving apartments on the first of any month in Boston is actual human torture. If you want to get your move done in ~2 hours start to finish, and save yourself ALL the stress, you have to hit up Brighton Moving. Carlos, Francisco, and Elvin gave me a call the day before, and half hour before they arrived. They arrived on time, during the 1 hour time frame bright and early Saturday morning. They were all SO amazingly professional and friendly-- I was even greeted with a hug! Carlos carefully explained everything on my invoice before we got started. These guys don't dilly dally trying to run out the clock (3 hour minimum) and they truly made me and my belongings feel so cared for. Absolutely no damage to any of my furniture pieces, and they placed each item in the room of my choice. 5 stars all around for these guys, I could not have asked for a better experience. If you're on the fence about movers because of the higher price tag, trust me when my frugal self says it is 100% worth it! read more

Recently moved from Brighton to Allston and used overnight services. Movers were nice enough, were able to get my items in the truck. However, on the first day they showed up an hour late and then reported I didn't inform them correctly of how much stuff we had when I did, resulting in an up charge for overnight storage. The second day they came early. One piece of furniture had been severely scratched after being banged around by movers and a lamp has a slash through the material. Then, before they left, overcharged me stating they worked 4.5 hours because it took 1 hour to pack up the truck to bring to me and only spent 1.5 hours unloading. Ended up costing my double my estimate. read more

Great Service. John always returned any and all phone calls. Very polite. Requested an email to verify date, time and deposit. The movers themselves, were very nice and professional. One painting was left in the truck, behind cardboard so it wouldn't get damaged. Didn't notice until the following day. Called and John face timed with the painting in his office. I hired Brighton Moving this past weekend to move my belongings into my Brighton apartment. My schedule time was between 10-11am and they showed up right at 10:10, earlier than I had expected. Once they arrived they unloaded my trailer quickly and efficiently. I was moving to the 5th floor and the elevator happened to be broken when we got there. It was a very hot and humid day but Brighton Moving moved all of my things up and down 5 flights of stairs. My family and I decided to help with the smaller boxes so that they would not have to take a million trips themselves. With all of us it took less than 2 hours! Yony and his two other men came bright and early on a Saturday morning to come move us out of our 1 bedroom apartment. They were very careful with our belongings, wrapping up all of our fragile furniture in pads and taping up all of our loose boxes. They had everything down to a system, including where they placed everything into their truck. They were also very strong. We felt at ease with them helping us, not even feeling any need to step in for more manpower. Absolutely terrible business. Do not recommend. They broke several items in the move, came late to every appointment, and it took them 5 hours to do a move they quoted as 3 hours. They quoted me one price and charged me about 40% more because they took forever. There's a box missing as well, but at this point, it's moot. They refuse to take phone calls or emails about the contract we signed saying they would pay for damages to the things they broke. This unscrupulous company has figured out how to have no integrity in a crowded Boston market and make it even worse. Would rate 0 stars if possible. read more

While the move itself went fairly smoothly, everything else was a nightmare. I paid my deposit in advance, and the day of the move a team of movers showed up, twenty minutes late but having called to let me know. They were polite and did a thorough job of packing up the last of my belongings and loading them into the truck. However, they insisted that my deposit didn't count towards my balance, so I paid extra to avoid a headache. It took me quite some time to get the over payment refunded. read more

I got a flyer of Brighton Moving from one friend's apartment in Allston and I needed to move to Allston so I thought I'd give it a try. My apartment in Cambridge is a one bed however full of stuff which I did not have the time to pre pack before our movers came. However, when Carlos came with his team they packed all of our stuff under an hour and took care of the furnitures with real caution. Carlos and the guys were extremely helpful and nice. Overall, I'd give it a five star rating for the great effort and excellent job done by Brighton Moving. read more

Carlos, Miguel and Diego were very helpful. They were able to help us move our extremely heavy furniture to the fourth floor of our new building despite being short staffed due to miscommunication on the management side. They were there early and finished in a timely manner despite the hike. They also helped us pack some unfinished boxes and wrapped all of our furniture very carefully. Overall great service from the guys. I Dont give them the last star as i think management definitely does not compensate or look after their guys as they should. I used Brighton movers to move me to Brighton. We had to make two stops to pick up my stuff and get to the new place and they did it all in under 3 hours - this included bringing all the stuff up to the second floor of my new apartment, and putting everything in its designated place. They made sure everything was packaged in the truck nicely --nothing got even so much as a scratch on it and they did such an amazing job and were so kind and helpful!!! Such a fair price for the service, I will never be moving again without them!! Carlos was such a nice guy and made it so stress-free!! Can't give Carlos and his team, who moved us on 7/29, enough stars. I called around to various companies and John, the office manager, was eager to help and was friendly. What priced them apart is that they gave us a referral lower rate since they had previously moved a family member. On the morning of, they were a little late, but that was fine as John and Carlos both called to tell us. Our payment time started when they arrived at our apartment. All three men were friendly, easy going and fun (they asked us to put music on...made it a much more enjoyable process for all!) They took the time to take our furniture apart, wrap it and put it back together. They even offered to help us gather items from our own car. The only surprising fee was that we had to pay them for their drive back to the orientation of the move (or perhaps their office...not sure which), so just know that ahead of time. Overall, even though moving can be the worst, I truly look forward to using Carlos and his team for future moves as they made it that much better! read more

Our experience with this company was absolutely deplorable. We called Brighton Moving and Storage at 10:00am on Saturday morning to ask about availability for same day moving of an L-shaped couch. The person on the phone was difficult to communicate with, and we had a hard time ensuring that our needs were understood. Eventually, after much back and forth, Yoni agreed to send over a team between 2 and 3 pm that day, which was exactly what we were hoping for. We proceeded to wait for the movers for 2 and a half hours, all the while attempting to phone the company and look for updates. No one was answering the phone, which we found to be extremely unprofessional. After a total of 15 phone calls to the company number, a man answered the phone, but he seemed to have no idea what we were talking about when we explained that we were waiting for a service. He said that he would check with his bother and call us back in five minutes. 25 minutes later, we called back ourselves, and were sufficiently ignored for the next few phone calls. When we were able to get through to someone, the same thing happened, and we were asked to wait another five minutes for an additional call. This resulted in our eventual cancellation of the service, and a promise to never recommend this company. The disorganization was like nothing I have dealt with before, and we were left with an uncompleted task and a major headache. Take your business elsewhere! read more
