Maybe for dine-in.... It's expensive, and they don't have too many choices. I ordered off their website a few days ago. They said 25 minutes, I checked my husband's Tesla for this review, it said it took 13 minutes to come home. The website is like a desert. I think there were less than 12 things for dinner including a few appetizers and salads. Everything is meat, meat, meat at least the sides used to include a lot of vegetarian things, healthy things.
So I ordered the (their website is currently down, so I cannot quote the names of the plates. My husband had picked up his dinner elsewhere and picked up mine right on time. Picked up at 25 minutes and rushed home.
I opened it immediately and it was cold, not cold lukewarm warm - the containers they use will not hold heat. And the bags they put them in are open top. I had to heat the seared salmon, or was it tuna? - needs to be raw in the center (I couldn't put it in the microwave). I had tasted the sauce (which did not look like the picture at all, just a little bit - and why didn't they put the sauce in a container?) and it had a smell (I've smelled this spice before and it's fine in moderation) like the BO of someone in an elevator. The bright yellow/orange sauce in the photo and the description sounded really yummy. It is definitely not what you get. It was not that rich color, and did not taste like the posted ingredients lead you to believe it would taste like). I washed off the fish and grilled it and made a quick sauce of ponzu, soy sauce and Saracha, it's all I could make with the time I had. Give me a half hour and I could have made something delicious that should have gone on their menu. I am just wondering who the chef is who designs the menu, they should have a photo of him with his credentials on the menu. There was a time when if you you were spending this much money and the place was posing posh, you would see a pic on the front of the chef greeting you. Now it's like going to that rib place in Rancho Bernardo. Okay, so you don't have to stand in line, but they are also not pretending to be something they are not.
I also had to reheat the clam chowder in a pot, you cannot put that in the microwave because it screws with the texture. The spinach salad came with what looked like ranch on the side, I thought I'd ordered it with balsamic, so I used my own dressing. I thought they would have included the whole egg on the salad for what they charged, I got a few sliver I had to check and see it was egg. The spinach itself had a really earthy taste like it hadn't been properly washed, so I washed it.
I was not picky that night, I was hungry - and ended up doing as much work with that take-out as I would have making dinner. So if you feel like remaking a meal, go here. Maybe it could become a cooking sport-order from here and remake it into something else entirely, we could post the remakes. I should have taken photos of the remakes, but I was so hungry I just ate it. Something to keep in mind, though.
So if you are ordering from a hotel, you will just have to suck it up and work with a microwave if you have one, same if you're ordering from work. Do not order for a work function - they do not know how to keep food hot!
I get dinner from SIpZ in Claremont Mesa and come home in traffic. Dinner is still hot when I get home to eat. Still hot. 45 minutes away. Still really hot. Maybe management should order something from there and check out to-go materials.
For my dinner they used the cheapest plastic container with a see-thru top, the kind deli places put cold sandwiches in. And a coffee cup styrofoam is so bad for your health no one uses it anymore, did they find it in storage from 20 years ago? Time warp!!! Sipz and Urban Thai have proper soup containers for them to check out.
The to-go presentation is just so poor. Don't bother - so many other places in Poway to order from. Pick through the list on Yelp and the reviews, there are a few new places in town.
I tried this place again to see if the'd gotten any better. Nope. I had a food column with Knight-Ridder. Brigantine must have really gone down the tube and its menu must be the size of a children's menu....
After all that, I think the fish was not ever to meant to be lukewarm, even after reheating, and went out terribly that night the other way, it was worse. They don't have that emoji. I should report it to the health dept. but I don't have the time, maybe later. And whomever is reading this from there, don't insult me with sorry's and free dinners. Nope! Jest do your freaking job!
I ordered take-out made my own sauces, cooked my own foot and ended up washing pots and pans from take-out. Meh, go somewhere else. read more
