We have gone to the Brigantine a few times recently for Happy Hour, mainly because we received gift cards. We generally order the Brig margarita, Moscow Mule, the Brig house salad, and the potato skins. This last time we ordered the clam chowder and the nachos. All off the Happy Hour menu, all $7 each. The portions are generous and the drinks are pretty good. Not overly amazing, but pretty good for Poway. The house salad is my favorite especially with the dressing on the side since it sometimes comes drenched. Parking is really easy since there's a big lot. The interior has been newly refreshed which is so much brighter and nice. It's an okay place to frequent when we don't want to drive far, but not our go to place. read more

Having visited this location post remodel. I like the modem look, but will note that it's much louder than the old setup. If you're there for a group, this is probably not an issue. But if you're looking for quiet conversation, you may find it hard to hear your companion. The food is consistently good. The only real downside is that the menu at brigantine seems to be shrinking all the time. Long gone are the days when you could get prime rib (assuming you're not a seafood person). The best value here is sitting in the bar area and enjoying the happy hour menu. If they have dish you like on that offering, chances are you'll enjoy it. We haven't been back to this location since Covid. Today we returned and were impressed at their make-over, both inside and out. The ambiance is now high-end and very airy. The menu looked great and had to have their Napa Nachos! Woo hoo! Pairs perfectly with beer! Had the lobster tacos and loved the flavors. The service from start to finish was PERFECT!!! We always come for the seafood! The bass is always sooo delicious! It can get crowded during happy hour so I always book a reservation and the service is always great! It's perfect for families with adults and teens. It's very clean and the bread service satiates until the appetizers and entrees are served. read more

Brigantine is a beautiful open-spaced restaurant. Bar seating is available in addition to space available to host larger parties (greater than 8). As the restaurant can get busy, I recommend making a reservation in advance. Food was hit or miss. Really depends on what you order. The good include the clam chowder and blackened salmon. I had the fish and chips and while the fish was moist, the fries were not crispy and were borderline soggy. The desserts are better. I got the mud pie which can be easily shared with 2 to 3 people. Service was a bit lackluster. Our water was not refilled and finished dishes were not taken before the next course so our table felt quite crowded by the time dessert came. Dining experiences like these are why I eat out less and less often. First off, $12 for a SIDE SALAD?!?!?! A plain Caesar that is. Just lettuce, dressing, Parmesan, & croutons...are you kidding me? Next, while the staff is friendly, the service was so slow. We had to remind the server of our drink order & they never came back to see if we wanted a refill or another alcoholic beverage. I visited The Brigantine in Poway, for dinner tonight While the food and service were great, a few aspects made my experience slightly less enjoyable. Parking was a challenge -- the lot was packed, and people seemed to be everywhere, making it stressful to find a spot. Once inside, the hostess was welcoming and seated me at the last booth available, which happened to be right by the fireplace in the dining room. The restaurant was busy, and some diners were quite loud, shouting across their tables, which disrupted the otherwise cozy ambiance. For starters, I ordered the Potato Skins, the Artichoke Fritters with Lemon Aioli, and the 3 Oysters on the Half Shell. First to arrive were the oysters, served with a cocktail sauce mixed with horseradish and a single lemon wedge. They were fresh, flavorful, and a must-try for seafood lovers. However, I found it odd that no condiment trays were on the tables, so I had to ask for any extras I wanted. Next, the Artichoke Fritters and Potato Skins were served. The fritters stood out--they were crispy, delicious, and paired well with the lemon aioli. I believe they're a newer menu item and worth trying! The potato skins, on the other hand, were average but enjoyable with the side of ranch dressing. For my main course, I chose the Grilled Octopus, which was advertised as a starter but worked perfectly as a lighter main dish. It came with two large, tender tentacles atop a flavorful salad, garnished with an edible flower. At just $20, it was a steal! The salad underneath, while fresh, included spinach and tomatoes--an odd combination that wasn't quite to my liking. I also ordered their House Salad, which came with blue cheese (something to note for those who aren't fans). While the salad was standard, the dressing added a unique touch. Overall, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive despite the busy evening. I'll definitely be back to try more, especially the grilled octopus, which might just be my new favorite dish at this fine restaurant chain! read more

We came here for happy hour on Monday. Happy hour is 3 pm to close on Mondays. Many appetizers drafts and drinks on the happy hour are $7. It's a decent price for high quality dishes. The restaurant has fresh new bright decor with upgraded finishes. It's a beautiful renovation. Service was great and friendly. We loved the oysters here. It was $7 for 3. Or $28 for a dozen. What I thought wasn't fair is their menu has GF next to several happy hour items thinking gluten free however when a person in our party asked to confirm they call it gluten friendly. We were like what does that mean? For some people that wasn't safe enough & hesitated to order anything. Good food, good service. I appreciate when the food is served hot and fresh. The Brigantine did not disappoint. I ordered the coconut shrimp and the Brussel sprouts. My only complaint is the Brussel sprouts come with a salted caramel sauce which did not appeal to me. I chose to drizzle them with the ponzu sauce that came with the shrimp instead. I'm not sure what was floating in my broth.looks like the white stuff from when you boil a chicken breast. I think they used pickled vegetables. It had a very sour taste. The fish was way over cooked. I would have sent it back but I couldn't get anyone's attention. Let most of it. My husband had the fish and chips. The fish was soggy on the bottom (greasy I believe is the correct word) Over all place looks nice but looks can be deceiving. Probably won't be back. Expensive lesson. Don't order ciapino for 20. This was my first time eating at any Brigantine location, and I've always seen this restaurant in passing while living in San Diego. I decided to reserve for this location for my 30th birthday with my family instead of the Escondido location, but boy did this location not disappoint. Based on the reviews and pictures of each location, this one looked much more cleaner and well maintained. During our visit, we were taken care of from beginning to end. I wish I remembered our waitresses' name, Julie I think? But she was so kind and always came to check up on us often during our meal. Service here is really fast, and she did a great job on describing each dish to us, especially the Special Dish of the week(?). Around the table, we got the Charcuterie Board (which is a special menu item that's not on the menu), Ahi-Poke Stack, Certified Sterling New York Steak, Crab Stuffed Jumbo Prawns, Miso Glazed Salmon, Ketch Ale-Brined Chops, and the Special Menu item, which was the: Crusted Amber Flounder with 2 Jumbo Tiger Shrimp, and Crab and Spinach Risotto. Everything on the table was presented beautifully in terms of culinary excellence and they even tasted wonderful. Since we all shared, we had a taste of everyone's dish and all the flavors were so unique. Our favorite of the night was the Special Menu item by far! Our waitress was right, we were all going to be jealous of whoever got this dish by the end of the night. They gave an option of a special birthday dessert at the end, and I decided to go with a Creme Brulee dessert since my mom already brought a chocolate cake to eat at the end. Came here on a double date. The restaurant has been beautifully renovated; and my friend who works here recommends it, which says something. The service was prompt, though not especially warm. I ordered the tempura lobster tacos. They were not amazing, but still very good. The vegetables were nicely cooked, preserving their natural crispness. Main miss was the garlic truffle fries, which weren't seasoned nearly well enough. They were just regular fries. Overall, we enjoyed our trip to Brigantine. Well... I hate to do it, because I really like the Brigantine. But I will not be returning to this location. Probably the worst customer service that I've ever experienced. There were more employees working than there were customers in the restaurant, and we still had to get multiple things ourselves. Had to ask multiple times for the same things, refills, Ranch, ketchup.. pretty ridiculous if you ask me. The food itself was OK, but when the person bringing it to you basically has F U written on their forehead.. I would not recommend anybody going to this place, whoever the manager is, didn't get your name, but she looks like Miss Frizzle. I'm sure she's really fun at parties. Did not do anything to try to improve the situation. In fact, our service got worse after our discussion... hopefully you don't stay in charge much longer and this restaurant can go back to being what it used to be. Clearly other reviewers have said the same thing about the service.. so this isn't just a rant.. the one guy that was bringing the food to the table was wonderful, sad to say every single woman that worked there did a horrible job with the exception of the lady who showed us to our table. I don't think it's their fault, I think management is clearly to blame. Do better. Don't let a great restaurant go to waste because of poor attitudes and customer service. read more

Having grown up in Poway and remained a local for the better part of my adult life, the Brig has been a staple for as far back as I can remember. I have many fond memories while growing up from family dinners to dinner before school dances. Dinner at the Brig was always a special treat for us that only came around once in a while. Once I got older I really grew to love their cocktails, seafood and the fact that they have so many different of options, so most people can find something they're looking for. The Poway Brigantine was recently remodeled I want to say within the past couple of years and while I did like the old style, I can definitely understand the reason for the remodel. They did a fantastic job on it and made it much brighter and more welcoming. My family came here tonight to treat a friend to dinner before his move to Arizona since he had never been to the Brig before. Knowing ahead of time that he was a meat and potatoes kind of guy, I figured that he would gravitate towards a steak but they would have other options if he desired something different. I made a reservation for 6 o'clock and we arrived right around six this evening and were promptly led to our table by the hostess. Upon being seated, we were greeted by our waiter Arick who immediately offered us water and beverages all while, throwing his personalized sense of humor into the conversation and making us laugh. I know everyone is different, but I love having a waiter who can keep up with my dad-jokey, often times dry, open and dare I say borderline morbid sense of humor and isn't afraid to joke around and make the experience more fun for everyone. We started off with artichoke fritters, which is one of our go-to appetizers almost every time we go to the Brigantine while we browsed the menu. My friend ended up ordering the filet mignon, my fiancée had the daily special which was a blackened salmon with risotto, my stepdaughter had buttered noodles off of the kid's menu, and I enjoyed the macadamia crusted mahi which has become a favorite of mine over the past year or so. I'm not sure how it came up, but Arick found out that it was my fiancée's birthday tomorrow and also treated us to a complementary crème brûlée. Everything from the ambience, to the service, to the food was amazing tonight and was exactly what I'd hoped for for my friend's first visit. Experiences like this are what we've come to expect from every visit to the Brigantine. I can't say it enough, but Arick's sense of humor and his ability to keep up with ours made for a very personalized and laugh-filled experience, and I can only hope that we have him as our waiter again sooner than later. Let me state it was not busy at all and many tables open. We sat at a high top near the bar, we sat for about 10 minutes with servers walking by and not one said a thing; eye contact and trying to get someones attention was pointless. The Poway Brigantine has finally reopened and their remodel is absolutely stunning! The restaurant is so bright, airy, clean and cozy. It has a modern feel while maintaining some sense of a traditional nautical vibe. The new furniture is really nice and comfortable. The booth tables however are fixed and don't give much leeway to your midsection. If you're chubby I'd recommend sitting at a regular table with chairs. I'd even go so far as to say they "remodeled" their culinary team. I often order their clam chowder and it's always been inconsistent, sometimes downright bad. Yesterday it was outstanding! Also, crab used to be an endangered species here when ordering certain dishes. My Shrimp & Crab Louie was teeming with sweet crab and tasted great. Service was friendly and professional. Brigantine in Poway used to be me and my husband's go to place to eat. We were frequent customers. Lately, including today when we took our grown kids and granddaughter for lunch we were very disappointed! My husband's fish taco plate was overcooked and the size of the fish was disappointing. The fries were hard and not served warm. I ordered the Louie salad which I've ordered many times before. The lettuce was extremely wilted and there was barely any crab on the salad. I would estimate maybe 1 teaspoon. The two grown adult children were just being polite and did not complain but it was obvious they also were disappointed. Going out to eat nowadays is very expensive. I don't mind spending my money on quality food. Today was less than quality. I hope this was just a bad DAY at the BRIGANTINE‼. Forgot to mention that when we arrived and seated ourselves it must of been approximately 3 -5 minutes before we got a glass of water and had to ask to have sticky stuff wiped off of our table. A heartfelt thanks from a grieving family. My 82 y/o mother-in-law has been fighting terminal liver and lung cancer and a was recently admitted to the ICU at Palomar Hospital as things took a turn for the worse. Her doctors said she was in organ failure and gave her a day or two at best. She was still able to eat, but was struggling with the "dry and chunky" food at the hospital. Since she had been on a special and highly restrictive diet, my wife, who was with her there, asked her doctors what could she have if we brought food in. They said, given her condition, "Anything she wants." My wife relayed that to me that her mom wanted soup b/c it was easy to eat. Knowing that one of her favorites is clam chowder, I stopped into the Poway Brigantine on Memorial Day 2025, hoping I could order a cup or two of the Brig's amazing clam chowder to bring to her. I didn't know if they would do "take out" because I'd only ever had nice sit-downs at this restaurant, but, as a former New Englander, I knew they had the best chowda in the area. Turns out they not only had it, but their amazing host and manager arranged for it to go and gave it to me with their condolences. Her face lit up when I told her what we brought, and despite her condition, she really enjoyed it! It was the first smile I'd seen in weeks. So I wanted to say thanks to the Brig, and especially the host and manager on duty on Memorial Day (I'm so sorry I forgot got to ask your names!) for kindly fulfilling a last request for what was her final real meal. read more

First timer! Great service at the bar, and I ended up here at happy hour, what luck. I tried the Brig Classic Calamari Strips, along with the house IPA, and amber lager, both being great for non-mainstream beers. Calamari strips were cooked to perfection, and as I'm not a fan of jalapeño sauces, this one is worth a try! Setting is beautiful, I never saw this place before the "remodel" but it's worth a look.
