The food was amazing. I ordered side dishes while my group got the main dishes. Not much choices, but it was enough for me. The service was great. We had a very funny waiter that kept us entertained. They even refilled our drinks enough that we didn't even have to ask. It wasn't too loud either. I would consider this to other people. It was a very fancy interior and surprisingly clean bathrooms. They got the order right as well. I had a burger and the meat was crunchy. Same goes for the bun. It is surprising that a burger here is better than Burger King. Clam chowder was oversalted, burgers were OK but not for the price ($18)and all french fries seem to have been sitting on the counter and cold. Coworker and I went for lunch took 25 mins to order a strawberry lemonade and I'm not exaggerating after we ordered it took 40 mins to recieve our food our lunch timer of 1 hour sounded. I love the brigantine, always have. Great food. However the Poway location just completed a huge remodel, but somehow forgot to put changing tables in the restrooms. This has always been a family friendly restaurant. Just wanted to give others the heads up. I was there today with my 4 month old when I discovered this, thankfully the waitress was able to help me find a place to change my daughters diaper so I didn't have to take her to the trunk of my car. read more

Still a great little happy hour spot but I bumped them up a star because I'm a stickler for great service and our experience was a bit warmer this time. Came here with some co-workers after yet another hectic day and it was a great place to unwind and relax. My go-to's are the Brig Fish Tacos, Calamari, and this time the co-habby tried the Oysters on the Half Shell which he enjoyed very much. When I go to the Poway Performing Arts Center, I like to meet here for a meal with my friend before seeing the play. We sit out in their patio and it is quiet and relaxing with the fountain. The service has been good both times. I ordered the crab cake on the first visit and recall it being very good and an ample portion. I also had the coconut macadamia nut crusted shrimp and the lobster and crab salad. Both were really good! I have no complaints whatsoever. I will continue to hit up this spot when I am in Poway. I came for their Happy Hour the first time, which I recall was from 3:30-6:30 and had some great reductions in the prices of drinks and their food.Each item was priced separately, so it would be difficult to list them all. I ate here on New Years Eve and as fate would have it, I indulged and engulfed the best meal I had of 2017. I had my first oyster shot, which was surprisingly delicious. That led to my second oyster shot. I also enjoyed their Mistletoe Mule and their Paloma Mule which were both very strong, fairly balanced, but the Paloma was grapefruit based which was easily my favorite. For the appetizers we had coconut shrimp and the crab fondue...I loved them both. Both of which were rich without being too heavy. Even the complimentary bread and butter was delightful. My main dish was their ginormous ribeye steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. I'll tell you this, I don't eat much meat in my day to day, and I cleaned the meat off the bone here. We have always had great service every time we visit. My grandpa loves the weekend prime rib special!

First of all, we came on Valentine's Day we had a reservation but I was still impressed they didn't rush us and our server was great. Secondly, the food was amazing we had the halibut and the the steak and I was impressed by how well they were both cooked due to the fact it was so so busy. Most places over cook halibut it is such an easy fish to over cook but the chef did an amazing job. My husband got the steak with the crab cake on top let me just say that crab cake was fabulous could possibly be one of the best I've had. The steak was cooked medium and perfect We ended up have the mud pie for dessert, it was fabulous. Chefs great job I'm sure you guys/ladies were hustling back there and I just want you to know how much we appreciated it. Lastly, we will be back we really like the service and the food was perfect thank you guys for working on Valentine's Day so you could make it perfect for others! read more

Had lunch on 8-28-23. It's not cheap, but my fish and chips were amazing. Three big and crunchy pieces of hot fish and hot French fries. They were hot! That's so rare anymore. My friend had the shrimp and crab louis. The shrimp were big. If you put you index and thumb touching, that's how big. 5-6 shrimp. Other friend had fish tacos, which are always excellent. We had a reservation for 1pm on a weekday and it was a good thing. They were packed. Very good service. I don't go out a lot, but I'm willing to pay for what I got.....an excellent meal. read more

The Brigantine is one of my favorite happy hour spots and after visiting the Poway Brigantine I left not only happy but impressed. Friday happy hour at this location is usually pretty busy and this past Friday was no exception. The manager at this location totally rocks. She is leading her team by example. Watching her bus tables, clean and prepare them for the next guest is just awesome. We have seen her multiple times jump in and help her team which than helps us ( the customer) get great service in a timely fashion! Anyway, we appreciate the staff and the happy hour service in general (food and drinks) is great at this location!!!! read more

This place is HOT. As in no A/C. No A/C in POWAY - during a heat wave. You literally SWEAT while just sitting there. I feel bad for the people that work there. The waiters, waitresses, bartenders, cooks in that kitchen are dripping sweat. I was dripping sweat and wasn't running around. The story was the A/C couldn't keep up - but it's OBVIOUS there is no A/C working AT ALL. My watch has a body temperature alert THAT WENT OFF WARNING ME OF ELEVATED BODY HEAT -WHEN I WAS SITTING. A minute later the lady next to me ALSO go the too hot body heat warning. This is East County. It's hot. A/C is a requirement. I don't understand why a respected, local, multi-location business would treat people this way. We go and eat, sit in the bar, before and after every movie - no more. We are not going to even think about going back until it's been raining and COLD for at least a week, if ever. This used to be the nicest place in Poway. It's been getting more and more run down and now you can't even have A/C! The entire staff has always been great. Most of them have worked there for years and they deserve better. I'm surprised no one has passed out from heat stroke yet, or maybe they have. I'm guessing this is an ownership issue where they just don't care about Poway, Poway customers or their employees. This is my first review of any restaurant. I feel I had to write this one. My husband and joined with two other couples for dinner at Brigantine for the first time. I always thought this restaurant was a premier seafood restaurant in the area. Oh wow, if I could give it 0 stars, I would. The atmosphere is cafeteria style, nothing impressive. We had a party of 6 and were seated in a large booth that was anything but intimate, and not good for conversation. The seafood dishes on the menu appeared to be all the same- a small serving of swordfish or salmon, or whatever your choice, served on a big pile of mashed potatoes. I've never seen mashed potatoes as a main course with seafood, and it looked quite drab and unappetizing, especially with nothing else on the plate with any color. My husbands choice of prawns was interestingly served on top of grits. Not one person in our party finished their meal. Only one plate at the table arrived hot- the prawn and grits. I unfortunately got a bowl of clam chowder- minus the clams, minus potatoes, and it was quite literally a thick, floury gruel that tasted just like flour. It even smelled like flour. It was inedible. It was served with a pack of oyster crackers. I noted there was not a vegetable in site, neither did the entrees come with salad, soup, or bread. It was a memorable experience, expensive to say the least, and I can't recommend it for anyone. read more

Love this location! I've been here a couple of times and it's been terrific each visit. The atmosphere is is very relaxing. I've only been here for lunch and each time it's been wonderful. I've had the pleasure of having the crab stuffed steamed salmon, sautéed green beans served with ginger and pineapple rice in garlic butter sauce. I've also had the fresh salmon with grilled salmon served on a bed of delicious brussle sprouts, sweet potatoes and mushrooms. On each occasions I've had the house creme brulee. Brigantine proves not all Taco Tuesdays are created equal. Theirs is really no bueno. There are only two main expectations that come with a Taco Tuesday: good and cheap. I can't say you find either here. I got the carne asada, chicken, mahi, and swordfish tacos and they were all not good. Very bland, half of the Taco is shredded purple cabbage, and the fish is so dry it felt like gnawing on dehydrated or freezer burned meat. The tacos were expensive too, ranging from $3 to $4.25. For that much you can get 3 times as many tacos that are actually good from any Taco dive. I also got a few items from the happy hour menu that were actually pretty good: chicken wings, artichoke hearts, and clam chowder. However, when a place makes a special day called Taco Tuesday with the intent of drawing in customers specifically for that reason, the fairly good happy hour items did not rescue the experience. First time back since the pandemic started. I stopped in for happy hour (3-6pm) with a friend who was visiting for the weekend. The service was good, however, the happy hour menu was disappointing. We ordered 2 sliders: beef and ahi, the ahi slices, and fresh oysters for food. Drinks: cucumber jalapeño margarita, strawberry margarita, pina colada and a mai tai. The sliders were so small and not filling at all. In addition I ordered 2 and it arrived on one plate and I feel this saved them a set of fries. Sure some people may not have wanted the extra set of fries but I did. I was very hungry. If this was their intention, I feel I should have been asked if I wanted one or two plates. The oysters were good. The ahi steak was good, however, for the price there were only a few pieces. The cucumber jalapeño margarita was better than expected if you're into margaritas. The strawberry margarita and mai tai were unimpressive. The pins colada was acceptable. The happy hour menu used to make me happy, the current happy hour menu and portion was lack luster. Where did the tacos go? A single small slider of $6... eh. All in all still hungry when we left and paid nearly $100 tab and disappointed. The service was EXCELLENT!!! Jacob was our server for our special dinner event, my mom's 86th birthday. He was so charming, friendly and the service so FAST. He complimented my dear mom, made her feel so special!! Brought us extra bread cause we were so hungry. I wanted whipped honey butter but they didn't have any but instead gave us a little honey to add to the butter...just shows how much of an effort he extended to provide great customer satisfaction! He topped it off by ending our meal with a delicious Mud pie for my momma! It was a perfect evening. THANK YOU JACOB . I go to this Brigantine location just for the short rib tacos that are absolutely amazing and should be served at the DM location too;-) I absolutely recommend the creamy jalapeño cheese sauce and/or the jalapeño ranch sauce for the short rib tacos and the chicken tacos or fish tacos to add some spice and creaminess to the fresh lettuce/cabbage, tomatoes, and shredded cheese. The Brig House Salad and the wedge/cobb salad are both delicious salads to get some greens with other nutritional goodies;-) The oysters are always on point at Brig!! I also enjoy their margaritas! I've been to this Poway location several times and last time my fiance's wings were literally Cold -that screamed food poisoning. Taco Tuesday is fine not a huge difference in prices. We are excited to hear this restaurant is getting updated next year. Here is hoping they upgrade their menu with healthier, fresher food choices. The service was great and the food was tasty however we felt queasy afterwards. We chose the healthiest items we could find....salads and Brussels sprouts. The salads were a bit oily, loaded with chunks of blue cheese and the brussels sprouts were very greasy with more blue cheese. Happy Hour from 5pm until closing on Mondays! So what day is it? Monday and we're enjoying happy hour. Fish tacos, calamari strips, spinach salad, onion rings and beer! We decided to sit in the bar/patio area to enjoy day light savings. Surrounded by greenery and strings of light making the ambiance very cozy. Upon being seated, automatically greeted by the server who gave is drink recommendations. Food came within 10 minutes of ordering. Service was extremely friendly and when we needed additional orders or drinks,they followed through with a smile and very fast. First off, I love this place! They have a great selection of food during their happy hour. Anywhere from oysters to fish tacos. They have a huge bar area, so sitting there is no problem. Although the waitresses in that area aren't that attentive. We had Natasha as our server for the night, and right off the bat you could tell that she did not want to be there.. which was upsetting because we all saw how her faced looked. Anyways, she asked us what we wanted to drink, which were all waters, and that took about 10 minutes to come out. Within those 10 minutes, Natasha did not come to our table and asked us if we needed any help on deciding what we wanted to get. First time eating here and overall was a good experience. It was a packed place on a Saturday evening so making reservations would be a good idea. They're very accommodating to the open time and the seating preference. Originally we reserved for 4 people but ended up only 2 but they still seated us at a table for 4 which is nice cause we had more space vs a 2 seat table. So like I said it was crowded that evening so overall the service was a little slow but understandable. There were a couple hiccups in the service and the order we placed. We started off with an appetizer which was suppose to be the coconut macadamia shrimp but unfortunately they must have forgotten that we ordered that and brought everything else to the table. We ended up letting our waitress know that they forgot that and canceled the order cause by then we had already eaten our entree so we were pretty much full. Also having them check on us for drink refills took awhile too. But overall the food that we ordered was very good. The prime rib was tender and juicy and the scallops was also tender and not chewy like some places have made. The ambiance is nice and casual. Great Sunday Brunch and we've had consistently good service here. It's our go to place for Seafood in Poway. There aren't a lot of choices for sit-down dining in Poway and this place fills a need. Servers are NOT wearing masks. One of our party of six has severe underlying medical conditions. When I asked about it, the response was, "Most of us (hostesses, servers, etc.) decided not to mask." Until very recently I always thought the Brigantine was a chain type place and kept my distance. A few times over the last year my daughter and I swung by for appetizers when we were finishing up a day together. Last night we went there as a family for the first time for a real sit down dinner and what a pleasant surprise. The food was great! The place is a little loud (which is why the 4 vs 5 stars) It started with great service and some amazing fresh bread. The bread tasted like it was straight out of the oven. Appetizer: Cheese crab and shrimp fondue. It's not strictly a fondue in the 70's style hot pot sense but is a dish of cheese in a steaming hot cast iron pan with bread to dip into the cheese. Call it what ever you want and I will order it. I had the shrimp stuffed with crab, rolled with bacon and cooked until the shrimp was tender, the crab was hot and the bacon was crispy. It was perfect. Sublime. Delicious. It was served with potato salad with blue cheese and bacon. I was a little concerned at this combo until I took my first rich, creamy, cheesy bacon laden bite. At this point I was in a pretty happy place. The daughter had the soft shell crabs with kettle chips. Said they were awesome. The teenage son had a white fish dish that disappeared so quickly that we never could figure out what he ordered. The paterfamilias had sea bass and it was good. No dessert was needed as the happy diners walked off into the sunset looking for a nice quiet place to digest and contemplate that lovely meal. read more

I'm a big fan of this place after my dining experience here! I came in one early afternoon before a business meeting in the area and grabbed a quick lunch. I walked in and kinda of just wandered in. The host was the one phone so I took a stroll a little further in kinda keeping my eye on her until she got off the phone so she could see me, but I was spotted by a gentleman who I can only assume to the the manager or the GM of the location since he was dressed nicer and not really serving. I later learned his name to be Gabe. He was very nice and seated in right away and grabbed me a menu. After being seated in the area, I was taking a look over the menu and my server came up to me. I learned her name and it is Taylor. She was super nice and friendly. I loved her presence. She greeted me and asked if I wanted a drink. One of the drinks she mentioned is what I ended up ordering. The AleSmith Tony Gywnn Tribute beer is what you all need to be drinking! I placed my order and shortly after I got my food. Delicious bites for the hungry tummy!!
