I came for a swordfish taco and a margarita. Hold on to your money if you're looking for a bargain, you won't find it here. It's more upscale and just over $4 a taco you can't expect to eat 5 or more without spending a small fortune. I just wanted a relaxed atmosphere, good tacos and a drink. I think the swordfish tacos definitely deserve a try. I am not a big fish fan so they flavor was a surprise to me. It was really impressed with the flavor and texture. I also grabbed a short rib taco and that was delicious. I bought a measured portion margarita for $9 during happy hour. It would have been great if they didn't short pour the tequila because the mix was delicious. 4 tacos and a mediocre margarita for $30 and some 4% for wages was just not what I was looking for. read more

This Brigatine is probably one of the best places to go for Taco Tuesday in the area. I've only been to Brigatine for their Taco Tuesday or Happy Hours (4-7pm). The Poway location is comparable to their other locations without the big crowds and long wait. I got my favorite Brigatine taco, the Grilled Swordfish Taco, along with a Fried Shrimp Taco. Each taco was about $4 during Taco Tuesday. This might be pricier than other Taco Tuesday options but the portion is huge! The swordfish was well seasoned and the shrimps were fried perfectly. The tacos do get runny and wet, so I would recommend eating them quickly. I had a taste of my friends clam chowder and it was not good. Stick with the fish/seafood tacos during Happy Hours and Taco Tuesday and you won't be disappointed! read more

My wife and I were at the Brigantine for happy hour 1 week after reopening. We enjoyed oysters, fried calamari, clam chowder, Brig salads, one white wine and 1 Margarita. Our server was Izzi, a delightful, accurate and efficient waiter (waitress.....I'm old school). The oysters were delicious, fresh and cold. The fried calamari and clam chowder were excellent in taste and quantity, and the Brig salad definitely improved with a blue cheese vinaigrette. We thoroughly enjoyed the revamped Brigantine, amazed with the very quick service and so happy with the reopening. We will be back soon. read more

So first of all it took over 45 minutes for them to bring us two salads and they brought them to the wrong table at first then gave them to us after they were coughed on by the other customers; not the other customers fault for coughing but you shouldn't bring coughed on food to people after messing up an order placement. On top of that they served my mom a chicken salad with truly very old chicken. It smelled and tasted horrific. I made her spit it out just to be safe. You couldn't even chew it and it reeked. The manager came out and did absolutely nothing besides say they had high standards which does nothing because they clearly don't at all if they're serving that and offer no resolution. Very surprising nothing was done to remediate a disgusting situation by the manager. We will definitely never come back here again and will definitely never have business meetings here. This is a nice spot for a sit down meal with a cozy atmosphere. Pluses: great service, good presentation and plating of the food. Nice atmosphere. Clean. It has a nice bar. There's a good alcohol selection, including mixed drinks, beer, and some nice red wine options. I had a dozen oysters first. They had three varieties. I was told which were the popular ones, (Blue Point) but I wanted a mix. Going back, I probably would get a dozen of all Blue Point. They are a lot meatier and more satisfying. It was fun having variety though. I also tried the octopus, which was beautifully presented on the plate. The flavors were good, though it was on the chewy side and wasn't cleaned correctly. The dish is comprised of one and a half smallish legs, served whole on a bed of slaw, mangoes, and beans. Shout out to my server, who was one of the nicest and most attentive servers I have had in a long time. Awesome. A+ service! We dined here for our anniversary and it was disappointing. We were regulars before the pandemic so I'll give them a pass this one time. We started with the calamari as an appetizer and it was just meh. For our entrées my daughter ordered the burger which she thought was quite good, my husband ordered the steak which he thought was OK but not anything special, and I ordered the blackened salmon. The salmon dish was just awful. It was prepared over cauliflower rice, mushrooms carrots peas and pork belly. The carrots, peas and cauliflower seemed to be out of frozen bag of veggies - no flavor. The only flavor was the bites of pork belly. But the combo just didn't work with the spicy salmon. I normally order the fish taco plates which are consistently good but it wasn't on the menu. We also ordered the Hess house Cabernet and it was sweet and tasted like a Zinfandel. For the price of our meal I expected more. Hopefully it was a one off bad night :( read more

Service was a little.slow but nothing too crazy. 12 minutes for drinks and 15 for appetizer and 30 for meal. Not bad. Just the business that caused minor delays. The place: Kind of romantic atmosphere. Three birthdays in the area we were seated. It's a birthday type place. Just because it's fancy but not overly fancy. You will want to wear semi nice clothes. No flip flops or tank tops. Customer service: Very friendly. Waitress was a little slow but nice. Food:. Pretty good food. This wasn't my first visit and the food is always tasty. I didn't like my meal so much but not because of the cooking or anything. I ordered the special braised lamb shank and should have went for the gumbo! Guest got the shrimp and grits. We had a great experience here to celebrate my husband's birthday! I am so surprised of all the years that we have lived in San Diego, we never visited Brigantine until now. We came for brunch on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate a birthday. Food: Most of us were happy with our orders. Portion sizes were generous. The seafood omelette was good and very filling. I didn't care for the potatoes though. Those who ordered the fish tacos enjoyed them. But those who ordered the fish and chips complained about the fish being dry and the fries not very good. Overall, the food was decent. Service: Very good. Our server was very patient as our party took time to order. He was attentive to our needs throughout our meal. I love this restaurant but today, I ordered food to go through ChowNow at 1:28pm, 10/8, Poway location. I arrived at the restaurant around 1:40 and I was told they would put in the order now. I asked why when I ordered online and prepaid? The hostess response was they got busy. I go in the bathroom and go to the bar while I'm waiting for my food. This is 5 mins later. The female bartender and female waitress decided to talk crap about the $2 tip and the special instructions I entered to add extra bread if possible. She ask so asked if she wanted to put it in. I said that's my ordered and to ignore the instructions if you're going to talk crap. Again, they still have not started my ordered until 15 mins after placing it through ChowNow. Had a lovely family happy hour at the Brigantine this Memorial Day! We live very nearby and have somehow never made it in, so we will definitely be back. Miranda took great care of us in the bar area, and our standouts were the pomegranate sangria (delicious and very strong, the bourbon is a great addition), the nachos, and the artichoke fritters. The nachos were a huge portion, and an absolute steal for only $7 during happy hour. We had more than enough food for 4, plus 2 rounds of drinks for only about $100. They have a pretty good Taco Tuesday and great Happy Hour specials during the week. During Taco Tuesday just like most places it gets packed here so you gotta be quick to get your seat.. and their open seating includes the nice dining/lounge area to the left. A wide array of items on the menu offer plenty of items to satisfy any appetite whether for lunch or dinner. We had an early dinner reservation Nov 30th for 12. I've got to say that our large group experience was fabulous! We needed to be finished no later than 7:30 in order to be at a concert venue. Everything was ready for our party upon arrival and looked fabulous! Our waiter, Alex, was a great server. He was fun and efficient even when we asked if we could have separate checks.. What happened? I have been, MANY times, to Brig's all over the county. No more famous hotsauce? No more skinny fries? No more Brig Brew? It didn't feel like home anymore... plus no AC. They say it is on.... but it isn't. I'd even be happy with a FAN. We were a little miserable. My Dad's 77th birthday. We thought it would be a familiar, easy, happy hour..... but it was a slow service, no plates, stagnant time. I will say... the oysters were cold! That was good. We even were seated next to the fireplace - my favorite. The oysters were to die for. So fresh. We tried all three varieties, both on the half shell and baked. The halibut was cooked to perfection and a generous portion. We shared the halibut special. The kitchen divided both it and our salad onto individual servings for us. Been coming here for years. It's not my favorite place to catch a game and throw back a few beers but its comfortable. The staff are always welcoming and keep the drinks flowing. Happy Hour is pretty decent. There's a wide range of food and drink at reasonable prices. Parking is never a problem as this place shares a lot with Stater Bros and the movie theater. Their sliders are tasty but I really love their "world famous" clam chowder. Their wings are so so but hey, when it's happy hour, it doesn't matter. read more

This was my first bad visit to the Poway Brigantine. I should qualify that I have been going to the Poway Brigantine for the past 10+ and it has been very consistent. The food quality has almost always be very good and even though the menu has changed, we have always enjoyed the fish tacos there. It's a place a I regularly have recommended to people for a good meal when in Poway. I was in tonight and we ordered from the Happy Hour menu, the usual of fish tacos, calamari and clam chowder. First off, the fish taco's came and the corn tortilla looked like it had just been soaking in warm oil. Not cooked or crisp, just warm and oily. That's ruins a taco. The calamari arrived and it looked delicious, until I bit into it. The exterior was a darker than normal golden brown. I believed this occurred from the oil being too hot and not cooking the inside. The interior was almost uncooked. The clam chowder arrived and it was nice and hot. I like Brigantines clam chowder. I am not sure why the quality of food has fallen off, or if it was a problem with the cooks tonight. I brought it to the attention of the server and he said he would let the cook know. Ordered fish tacos... three of the orders had no cheese on them. We Ordered ice tea, water and a beer. No one came back to fill our glasses of water or tea or even asked if my husband wanted another beer. We were there visiting for about 2.5 hours. When we first got there we were greeted by one server, then about 2 minutes later another server snd then about 10 minutes later, yet another server. After I complained about the tacos not having cheese the server said to me "oh yeah you're right. I don't like cheese on my fish tacos though" I was shocked. WT Heck. Very horrible service and the prices for eating in the dinning room are outrageous! Next time just go to the bar. It's much less expensive and you should get fish tacos made correctly! read more

Review for lounge only. (Please note that you can order off the regular menu at the lounge.) So far I've tried the clam chowder and fish sandwich. Both were equally tasty, well portioned, and reasonably priced. For the lounge kind of atmosphere, one would expect the service to be kind of sucky, but I'm happy to report that the food comes out quickly and hot, and the waiter does come around to check on you. On my most recent trip, our waiter had to cover the entire lounge. He apologized for not giving us proper service, but we understood that they were understaffed that night. :) read more

The food was amazing. I ordered side dishes while my group got the main dishes. Not much choices, but it was enough for me. The service was great. We had a very funny waiter that kept us entertained. They even refilled our drinks enough that we didn't even have to ask. It wasn't too loud either. I would consider this to other people. It was a very fancy interior and surprisingly clean bathrooms. They got the order right as well. I had a burger and the meat was crunchy. Same goes for the bun. It is surprising that a burger here is better than Burger King.
