We heard great things about their pizza so thought we'd give it a try. I ordered the Margarita with added carmelized onions and mushrooms. The crust was soggy and limp, there was almost no "fresh mozzarella" to be found, the few onions and mushrooms tasted canned, the basil leaves were overcooked and the entire pizza was begging for flavor. What a waste of money and how annoying to have to rummage around my fridge for something else to eat for dinner as this pizza was so unappetizing I couldn't eat it so into the compost bin it went. read more

This review is solely based on trying out their pizza. 'Twas a Saturday evening around 7, and we didn't feel like driving 20 minutes through Saturday evening traffic (sadly, with the pandemic now over it's again a thing) to get a pie from our usual standby, Regina's in Medford's Station Landing. So we figured why not give this place a try. Initial impressions: fair pricing relative to the area, decent service, and I was happy that the ingredients were plentiful (except for the cheese and sauce, which seemed to be sparingly applied compared to Regina's) and fresh, and that the crust was indeed "thin" as claimed, thank the gods...I can't stand bread-like crusts, which this thankfully was not. Problem: while the ingredients were definitely high quality, the actual pizza was sadly lacking in any real FLAVOR or CHARACTER. By which I mean, it seemed very very low on salt, and there was neither garlic nor any Italian spices. In other words, if you have a timid palate and actually LIKE bland food (think Whole Foods' prepared foods bar), then ok this might be just the right place for you. Ironically, the one thing that redeems Whole Foods' fresh-made PIZZA (which also has quality ingredients) is, many of their locations have bottles of sea salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and ground parmesan (not fresh but hey it's better than nothing) right next to where you put the slice(s) of your choice into the cardboard slice boxes, so you can flavor it as you like. Brickstone sadly does NOT offer this option, which for me means I have to do all that myself when I get home and by then it's not that great because the additions will not so easily meld into the pizza as when it's fresh and hot. I ordered online and only came in to pick up, and did not look around to see if this place does have some of that available there as well. What I'd love to see is a few extra checkboxes for customers who want to add those extra flavorings (should be free of course, since how many seconds and pennies does it cost to shake a little bit of this or that on top of a pizza). Because even what I added at home to the pizza (sea salt, black pepper, oregano, and garlic powder) DID help a lot---put a little bit of life into the 'za! 3.5 stars for terminal blandness despite good and generous toppings. Not sure about a follow up visit. read more

I discovered gem of a pizza parlor about 10 weeks ago around December 2023, and have been here twice more since! I have found my new top five pizza places!! Their pizza is just exquisite and just so good with a wonderfully crispy, slightly burnt crust, which how I love my pizza. The staff are all kind, friendly and professional and the service is excellent. They originally, I'm pretty sure, used a coal-fried pizza oven but they seem to have switched to gas. Not a huge deal, but did appreciate the "crispiness" that the coal fired method gave to the crust. If I lived closer, I'd be in here all the time! read more

I often stop by here for a slice. I think it's quite good pizza - the crust has a light amount of cornmeal on the bottom, the sauce tastes like fresh tomatoes, and the cheese blend (provolone and something else) is stretchy and not too oily. Cooking the pizzas in a brick oven also makes for particularly bread-like crust, almost like a Bertucci's roll. The place is family-run. It appears that multiple siblings work here, as well as the mother and father. It's unusual to see places that are run day to day by a whole family. I am surprised this place gets 3.5 stars. Delivery was promised in 45 mins. I call 70 minutes later...and he tells me that the order will be ready to leave the shop in 15-20 minutes - so a 45 min delivery will be 90 minutes at least. But even worse, the guy on the phone was defensive, rude and he didn't care that the order is going to be late - he said that I can cancel the order (as if that would help anything). When I go into an establishment to pick up my food it is a thank you and out the door at most places. Here I was welcomed in as I was entering the door by one of the gentlemen making the pizza. As I got in the man I paid for my food with was engaging, friendly, and asked if it was my first time here. As we talked I could see this was a family run restaurant because you could feel the cohesiveness of the work staff and I picked up on that vibe only family run places give off. Because they consider their customers as family also. I gave this place a five star rating because not only was the service impeccable but the food was delicious. Brickstone is home to my favorite pizza in Greater Boston, and their boneless buffalo chicken tenders are the best I've EVER had. Hand breaded and hand tossed in sauce - I wish I could eat them every day. My only complaint is that I don't always know when Brickstone is going to be open! I know they close on Sunday's for a couple months in the Spring/Summer, but I've experienced numerous other (non-holiday) occasions when they're closed for seemingly no reason other than that they didn't want to open. I so wanted to love this place, but unfortunately I can't. I've had pizza here three or four times and initially the slices were pretty small, but they have seemed to become larger overtime. The restaurant is small, but impeccably clean. The help couldn't be any more friendly. But with the rubber hits, the road is the food isn't very good. The pizza while looking fantastic is incredibly bland. It could use salt, pepper, oregano, garlic, anything to give it more taste than it has. I've also tried to subs. The steak sub was not very good. The steak was veryrubbery and sadly, I left most of it. I also tried the chicken Parm, and while a nice portion, it's suffered from the same blandness that all the other products suffered from. I don't foresee My trying again. read more

I was on a long walk and craving a slice. I stumbled on this place and my god. I'm from New York so I've had my share excellent pizza. This place is easily in my top five best slices, if not top three. Beautiful balance of Caputo flour and a dusting of semolina on the bottom, as it should be done. Light fluffy crust that leaves you satisfied but not bloated. This is top quality New York style stuff here. Thin crust, high oven temp, short cook time, maybe a little oregano in the sauce. Badabam that's a nice slice. I wish I didn't live so far from this place because otherwise I'd come all the time. Summary: Unassuming neighborhood joint delivers top tier pie at a fair price. Called the other day to ask about contactless pickup. The guy who answered said they do that and will drop it on a table for you when you show up. Placed an order online a little later and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. Showed up about 20 minutes later and was told, "Ummmmm..... oh, for some reason we just got this. Give me 20 minutes." Gave them a half hour, showed up, called, and got who I think was the owner. He said he needed another 3 minutes. I also told him we needed to do contactless pickup. He said, "We don't have any tables, it's raining." I said, "Just put it on the table outside so I can pick it up." Eventually, our order was ready and he placed it on a table inside while waving at me. I had to call yet again. I understand it's a Friday and things get hectic. I also used to manage a pizza place, so I get it. A little communication could have save them A LOT of time and A LOT less phone calls. Pizza was pretty good, curly fries were delicious, fried mushrooms were useless, and the eggplant rollatini was not worth it. The sauce on those tasted burnt and like it had been sitting forever. The food is average to sub-par. I ordered through the Yelp app. I received a message that my food had been delivered. Went downstairs, no food. I call the app, fight with them over my food not being delivered, even though the app says it was delivered. The app can't do anything because Brickstone uses their own driver. 25 minutes later, I get a call- it's our food delivery. Admittedly, I was hangry and said , Thanks a$$h_le." Delivery driver turns into a psycho ex, he starts blowing up my phone. I didn't answer. I went downstairs to grab our food and the driver was waiting in the vestibule of our building. He wants to know why I called him a bad name. I try to ignore him. HE FOLLOWS ME INTO MY BUILDING. I show him the app stating the food was marked as delivered at 12:59 PM. He says, "So?" I explain that I went downstairs, no food, 12 minutes on the phone with customer service and figured the food was gone. He says, "What's a few minutes? No big deal" I show him my phone again, it's 1:25 PM. There's smoke coming out of the delivery drivers ears, the wheels are turning, he replies, "Gimme a break, there was a lot of traffic." Here's the funny thing, the restaurant is 1 mile away. I let him know that fact, he finally leaves. If you want average food, aggro delivery drivers that will follow you into your building, then this is your place! read more

The Italian sub had some type of weird meat in it. It also smelled gross like dog or cat. The onions rings tasted like nasty fish seafood. I don't think they clean their fryer too well. I got chicken wings and they weren't fully cooked. We also got a salad, but are really iffy about trying it. Everything at this place is nasty and unclean. read more

There was a long, black HAIR in my pasta. I'd had the pizza before, would give that 4 or 5 *s. Saw that customers were also talking up the rest of the menu so gave it a whirl. The pasta was overcooked and underseasoned. Unfortunately the hair was snaked in the half portion that I went to eat a day or two later, so I did actually eat some of it. The meatballs were also underseasoned and I suspect low on meat, heavy on filler like breadcrumbs or straight bread, because on of them had some kind of firm doughy chunk inside of it (NOT cheese). Also had the steak bomb sub. I thought they were meant to be like a cheesesteak, but there was barely any cheese, and what cheese there was appeared to be kraft American cheese, not provolone. Bread was that cheap kind like wonderbread, made with bleached flour. It's not good bread. These subs are all about the meat and cheese, usually, but the cheese is also awful and the meat was really dry. The "bomb" it supposed to come with mushrooms, peppers, and onions, but I barely spotted any in there. It was mostly dried out meat. I think the fried calamari was previously frozen. It had that fishy smell that fresh seafood never does. It only comes with their marinara sauce, which is actually a nice red sauce, but serving any seafood without lemon is surprising. Even one lemon wedge for squeezing over might have just brought the calamari into the edible range. I would never recommend anything but the pizza, but after the huge HAIR in the pasta, which calls into question the most basic of hygiene practices, I honestly can't recommend eating anything here. I never will again. Sad, because that pizza with the ricotta and basil was amazing. read more

Lesson learned. Had a problem with food a few months ago. Owner rectified. So we tried ordering again. Fish sandwiches. Advertised as having lettuce and tomato. Three sandwiches and none with lettuce and tomato. Two were asked for tartar sauce on side, the third had a typo on order and said in side. All three came with tartar sauce on the sandwiches and soggy and mushy. Exactly what we wanted to avoid. We Immediately called and spoke with owner. He offered to make it right. His wife got on the phone called me a liar, said she watched as the sandwiches were made and hung up the phone. I will absolutely dispute the credit card and I have pictures to prove everything. Don't waste your money. Response to reply. My photos prove that the sandwiches were as I said not as your mother accused me of. You saying not to show my photos is also saying I am lying.
