Ordered a Greek Salad from here through Peach and had it delivered to my work and although it was pretty good, they should of called this a side salad. It was basically three pieces of lettuce and some small tiny bits of chicken and barely any quinoa and lots of onions. It was done in maybe 4 bites and it cost $12 bucks?? I picked up some take out here on a friday night around 6:30. They close at 8 and by the time I had called they were out of 3 things I wanted. First they didn't have any sauce left for the Engine 2 sandwich, so I asked for a reuben instead. Then they called and said they didn't have the reuben, so I asked for the pulled pork sandwich. When I picked up the food they had given me a reuben anyway. They were also out of french fries so we all went with chips instead. They were homemade and ended up being delicious. My roommate also ordered the salmon with seasonal veggies which we were told was eggplant, zucchini and peppers. When we got home we realized they have given us spinach instead. Not only is their food incredible and made fresh in-house but so is the owner and staff. Last year, instead of sitting back and doing very little, the owner/Chef decided to use the food to feed hospital workers as far north and south from Medford as they could go and also our first responders. Staff were able to still come into work, just some shorter hours. A small local business that took care of hundreds and hundreds of people. People that will probably never come to Medford for a meal but even knowing this Simple Fare opened their hearts and pockets to help. Much like a lot of small businesses that can not afford to spend millions of dollars for TV ads to pat themselves on the back and were able to easily stay afloat during the crisis. We wanted to send a fresh, healthy meal to our friends in Framingham but being out of state we had to depend upon an internet search and reviews. I am so glad we found Simple Fare! Although they were closed for the Holiday weekend, Mike was so quick and responsive to my order request. We were able to do everything over e-mail - even payment - and the results were very happy friends. We ordered them the Mediterranean lunch plate for 10 and a small fruit and yogurt platter. They have severe gluten allergies and Mike made sure everything was labeled - and accommodated a substitution from the set menu. My mother and I were first time customers and we both ordered sandwiches (I got the "Engine 2" but I added provolone cheese & prosciutto, and mom got the "West Medford station"). Chicken was crispy and juicy, French baguette was fresh, the prosciutto was perfect & imported. And these homemade potato chips they have....OH MY GOD they were amaaaazing! I have been eating at Simple Fare for several years now. Their compact deli turns out some of the most amazing sandwiches I have ever had . While I live in Newton and it's not super close to West Medford I make sure to head over there when I am driving in their general direction. I usually have some type of chicken sandwich because they use REAL fresh meat and they make it very generous . Whether it's a classic chicken parm or a balsamic version it's always great. Couple that with a good size handful of house made potato chips (beyond addictive) and it's a winning combination. Last time I was in though I thought I would veer from my beloved usual selections and venture out and try their Italian sandwich offering. WOW was it amazing ! Fabulous roll filled with the freshest array of cold cut meats I've ever had. The meats were sliced right in front of me just for my sandwich, could not have been fresher. I have never experienced anything like that. At Simple Fare it seems like they really care about the food they make. No rush to get you out of their place, the inviting staff is friendly and genuinely happy to serve you. They also take such pride in their food and want to please their clientele so they keep returning. My hairdresser is located very close to Simple Fare so I know every 5 weeks, not only am I getting a cut and color, I'm getting take out from Simple Fare! Their menu has lots of choices including hot and cold sandwiches, salads, hot entrees, soups and kids meals, (the chips they add as a side choice are house made and very good)! I have also ordered trays from them for larger gatherings at my home and their staff was very good working with me to get a menu that was varied enough so there was something for everyone. The portion are decent sized too. I have yet to have a bad meal there and I've a large selection of their menu. And they used to close by 2:00 p.m., they are now open until 7:00!!! Sick of the usual Foodler order of pizza, chinese, and mediocre subs, I stopped in here to try a sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised by the Engine 2, which has chicken cutlet soaked in a sweet and tangy sauce, hot peppers, and lettuce & tomato. Got it on ciabatta, and comes with fries or homemade chips. It was sweet, savory, very spicy (from the jalapenos), and had a nice mixtures of textures. Great portion size, not too small to make you wonder why you paid $9 for a sandwich, and not too large that you're leaving a bunch behind or feeling disgusted by what you just ate. I'm really happy I found a new place to grab a relatively quick lunch! Takes about 5 mins to get take-out. They do have two 4-seater tables, and a couple stools for a high counter, but it's overall a pretty small place. read more
