This the best bodega, they have it all. Thank goodness for Alexander's! Open during the pandemic and very nice people. read more

Been going here for 3 years, 5-6 days per week. Located in Medford, Mass., Alexanders is not only a convenience store but a breakfast, lunch and dinner destination. I go there for the breakfast and though I've tried other places, I always come back here. The food is cooked to order by Nicki who is a master at the grill, never a bad breakfast...ever! Lastly, all the other meals are fantastic and the prices can not be beat. Best breakfast in Medford by far! read more

Great crew, outstanding haddock dinner, great subs at a reasonable price. I only recently discovered it. It's my new goto. They have all the bases covered from food to ice cream and it's a convenience store to boot. read more

very welcoming environment. The food is great very reasonable prices. And the employees are very friendly and nice.

Great place to get quality subs and deli sandwiches for a reasonable price. Service is always friendly.

On Wednesdays and Fridays they have a baked haddock dinner, we ordered it tonight and it was good size piece of fish, moist with a light topping with two sides all were delicious, read more

Best pricing for subs and meals and specials Had 12" eggplant parmigiana Under 10 bucks Delish Lowest prices on subs for sure read more

No nonsense neighborhood market with a grill that is open until 11pm. I noticed the police officers and paramedics ordering here, and figured this was a hidden gem. Gave the chicken cutlet w/prosciutto a try. I would definitely order it again. Good amount of prosciutto and mozzarella. Dressed with Balsamic vinegar. Great bread. Chicken cutlets tasted freshly made and not over seasoned. I would want to see more basil and Roma tomatoes. Will try the steak tips next or the haddock. read more

Alexander's - Chicken cutlet and prosciutto sandwich - Sandwiches Near Me - Medford, Massachusetts

The best ice cream cookie sandwich for the best price. Two huge cookies with two big scoops of ice cream for $5? Check. Great selection of convenience store items and items you may need in a pinch? Check too. Hidden local no nonsense gem. read more

Great convenient store! Has great snacks and drinks, lottery and even has a kitchen to order some food. I would most definitely recommend shopping here! read more

We had an outdoor, appropriately socially distanced baby shower in October. Alexander's did all of our food-- sandwiches, chips, cheese & crackers, fruit, caprese. Not only was the food delicious but it was also beautifully setup in safe individual portions. We are a VERY careful group in this crazy pandemic time and Alexander's did such a fabulous job of providing our party food that it really made the day! read more

Alexander's - a giraffe themed table - Sandwiches Near Me - Medford, Massachusetts

I've gone to Alexander's for their Italian sub with everything on it periodically I don't know what has transpired but the sandwich lacks big time and especially the roll way too heavy from what they used to have and to be honest with you I'm very disappointed read more

I have been going to Alexander's since i was a kid, the ice cream and chicken tenders were always magic to me. I moved from Medford around 6 & have missed it since, today i decided to make the trip and visit for the first time in 13 years. I got chicken tenders and their classic breakfast bomb, when i tell you this place gets better with time ! Everything is fresh & made to order and don't get me started on these prices, you cannot beat them! $12 for a huge sub, chicken tenders and cold drink, you're not finding a better deal in Boston! I may be biased as this place has special significance to my heart and soul. The ice cream is also a knockout the best way to finish your meal off! read more

I think this is accidental and NOT on purpose, I will say that first. However twice now I've walked here for scratch tickets and the young kids (only young kids, not anyone else) have not been able to do the simple math on what I'm owed, I have to tell them. And twice now I have gotten all the way home and realized they missed giving me a $5 scratch ticket. So it's like they robbed be of $5 twice now. Again, I think it's an accident but this isn't right. On top of that, I walked here last Friday and it was closed at 8 PM. I'm sure it's hard to find people to work a rainy Friday night but it was a bummer. I won't be going here anymore. I've been going here 5 years, something really went south the last 6 months. I will say it's crowded so the food must still be good! read more

Never fully stocked. I even had to open a case myself once just to get what I needed. Kind of dirty/messy. read more

It's a good place for what it is. I've gotten their breakfast sandwiches, regular sandwiches, burgers, french toast, etc. The criticisms are fair: you might get a grumpy employee (reminder: you're on the east coast), your order might be wrong, might even end up with a part of a broken eggshell in your food, the bad comes with the good--a convenient cheap place. Where else can you get a coffee, breakfast bomb, french toast, chips, gatorade, crazy glue, scissors, top ramen in one place for under $10? I wouldn't be surprised if they have a mechanic in the back that changes your oil. By no means a place to take a date or drive out of the way for but it's certainly convenient, cheap and the food (+variety) is a couple notches above a 7/11. read more

Yummy sandwiches. Tufts students love this place. I like their breakfast wraps. Best to order in advance and just pickup

This place is so near and dear to my heart. Great breakfast sandwiches and a steak and cheese special is one of the best deals in town

CHICKEN PROSCIUTTO SANDWICH!!! I should start this by saying I have never actually been here but have ordered maybe 50 of the chicken cutlet prosciutto sandwich. it is by far the best lunch to order around the medford area. Great for a quick lunch, also many other options on the menu. They do larger orders and are on grubhub so it's a good option for lunch and learns! read more

Alexander's is a great local oddity. The store is 1/4 sub shop and deli,1\4 convenince store,1/4 lottery retailer and1\4 ice cream shop. The ice cream shop serves Richardson's farms ice cream( my family loves the flavors). read more

Fresh!! Sandwiches are made to order... they cut the cold cuts when you order! They have just about everything you could need ... large selection of deli products..all fresh... fruits and vegetables... a bit limited but always fresh and appealing. Groceries and household cleaners and other necessities. Great ice cream counter and coffee available.... a small comfortable seating area. Did I mention the fresh bakery products?? Chocolate chip cookies and other changing selection.... great breakfast sandwiches Friendly family owned ... for many years. Paul has great staff that are friendly and knowledgeable!! Maureen is a great asset... ...as are all the staff read more

Can't believe I've lived in the area for so long and haven't dropped in to this shop before now. I stopped in to pick up some famous Richardson's ice cream and was really pleased with all of the options offered. Thanks for staying open and serving the locals! read more

For two years, I lived around the corner from Alexander's. It is a beacon of amazingness in South Medford. The fabulous cold cuts! the really underpriced produce! the AMAZING broiled haddock dinner! The gallon of $3 1% milk! What seemed to be an entire pint of ice cream from Richardson's jammed into a cone for $3.95! God, I loved that place. NOT great if you're looking for soy milk, and sometimes you need to sidestep some curious characters. It's all part of the charm. Magic!! read more

While I am still almost at 5 stars - lately they have been out of a lot of stuff and what they have had had been stale. :( The deli/grill is still PHENOMENAL! Seriously, so good! They staff is great - they are nice and joke around with you. Good people! If you are in a pinch this place is still a more than safe bet. Better pricing for basic stuff than Bob's (two blocks away) and fresher than any of the gas station sketchiness. I am sure it will be back to 5 stars in no time. read more

Not bad! For fourteen bucks, my date and I got two orange juices, two egg and cheese sandwiches on croissants, and my giant coffee. Worth it. Although this is a convenience store, they also have a deli and options for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is mostly sandwiches or yogurt parfaits and the lunch menu consists of sandwiches as well. For Tufts students, Alexander's accepts Jumbo Cash. It's a casual environment but people seem to like it here- there were several gentlemen reading the paper and watching the morning news while waiting for raisin toast to have with their coffee. Alexander's makes a quiet retreat from the rain, complete with kind staff and excellent service. read more

Since COVID-19 lockdown, I estimate I've spent at least $3500-$4000 (conservative calculation using debit card info & rough tally of cash transactions) at Alexander's on Main Street. All the staff are cool and they have very nice Tufts Univ. students. However there's one female staff with thick glasses & messy white hair. This person has a perpetual frown and grimace. Believed for a while that it was possibly due to her poor eyesight. She is mostly unpleasant (impatient, curt, unhelpful, rude, seems annoyed or downright angry) either on the phone or in person. I learned her name is Ruthie and she clearly gives zero "Fs." I rarely write a negative yelp but she kind of deserves it because of the following: recently my six-year-old grandson and I opted to stay there to eat our grilled hotdogs. One of the staff gave him markers and paper & that was great!! "Ruthie" started actually barking (yelping?) at us and snapping noisily that we needed to clean everything up because they were 15 minutes away from closing time. Extremely uncourteous and unnecessarily rude. Wonder if others have experienced this. Not sure who owns the place or manages Miss Ruthie, but she is odious & sorely needed retraining. read more

First time I went here I'd just moved in up the street. I ordered a sub and somehow managed to leave without paying. I made it back to my place, realized my mistake and came back, embarrassed. While insisting I'm not a thief, just a ditz, I made good on it. Honey mustard chicken with some humble pie to go was delicious. It's been a year or so since then, and I'm so glad I didn't burn that bridge! Service is good, they got all the ingredients and cleaning supplies you might need to grab at the last minute. Having Alexanders within stumbling distance makes me glad I moved back to Hancock st. read more

I noticed that everyone has been giving this place a 5 star review. My boyfriend and I just went into the store today and the man working behind the food counter was ridiculously rude. We ordered a turkey sub by saying "I'd like a turkey with american" and the man asked "what the hell is that?" in such a rude way. I was so surprised by his attitude. We ordered the turkey sub and a breakfast bomb with bacon and either one of them was very good. I would never go back to order food from there. We got ice cream from here once and it was very old. It was freezer burnt. It gets 2 stars for have a good variety of groceries and produce. The prices are decent. read more

Sometimes I come here to get an ice coffee or a breakfast sandwich. I heard of them messing up on the subs and I've ordered a sub before and as everyone else they messed up on my sandwich. Top it all off the sandwich wasn't anything I couldn't do in my own kitchen. The other day while getting ice cream I experience the rudest customer service. He was lazily putting together my sundae and when it was time to pay he snatched my debit card out of my card. I won't be back here for awhile. It's one thing to have a bad day but don't ever grab anything out my hand and couldn't even get a thank you afterwards. I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

This place is literally down the block from where I live and comes in handy when we don't feel like heading to the grocery store. They have pretty much any random thing you might need, be it food-related (chips, soda, olive oil, beans, juice, fruit, etc.)or general household stuff. Prices are higher than what you'd pay at a bigger store, but you can't beat Alexander's in terms of pure convenience. They also have a deli counter and cook up burgers, pizza, etc. if you need a quick & affordable meal. read more

The lady behind the grill needs to find another occupation. Two times while I waited for my takeout she spoke rudely about the customers who ordered food. read more

Great convenience store/deli. Staff is super friendly, made to order options are all great and you never have to wait more than a 10 minutes even for something from the grill. Also have an amazing selection of ice cream in the freezer as well as sundaes to order at the counter. read more

You had one bag of english muffins left and some smucker's jam. I was craving english muffins and jam and you came through for me!! I also enjoyed the simply salted Orville Redenbacher popcorn. Very convenient and the prices were not insane! Thank you, Alexander's Convenient Food Stores in the City of Cold Cuts, Meffa, MASS! read more

Tried Alexander's for the first time. Ordered the chicken cutlet prosciutto sub. Wanted exactly what the menu said was on it plus lettuce. Was asked 2 different times how I wanted it. This after I said I'll take it just like on the menu plus lettuce. Hmm... Ok my first time and I don't know the lingo so they will get a pass on that this time. The sub was good but nothing extraordinary. Watched a young guy come in and walk to the upper side to buy some scratch tickets. He stood there for about 3 minutes without anyone coming to help him. Once he stepped down where they could see him they helped immediately. Epic fail? No but the setup there has blind spots so being aware of them as an employee should be top of the list. The store looks like they carry a lot of great stuff. Cold cuts are high quality. Ice cream and slush section looks yummy. I will definitely come back in the near future and check it out. read more

Robbed!!!!! And still got the sandwich wrong~extremely disappointed ~won't be back, which is too bad cuz I always liked this store.

Alexander's is just a fantastic establishment. Everything that you are looking for in a local corner store can be found here. This isn't one of those stores with dust on the cans. At Alexander's, you will find fully stocked shelves, desserts from Lyndell's, breads from Piantadosi, a fully stocked deli, an ice cream counter, and a lotto/keno section to boot. There is an on site ATM, Ice cooler, and they accept credit cards. Mention should be made of their sandwich counter, as they are reasonably priced and pretty tasty. Granted, it is hard to compete with Bob's which is only a couple blocks away, however bobs is only open until 8, so i giver the upper hand to Alexander's (after 8, of course). read more

alexander's a lil piece of heaven in.... medford.........they have all the snacks i'm always craving and 2 for 3 big gatorades and $1 avocados! actually some of their prices are just unbelievable (in a good way) sausage bombs anyone? there is also a separate counter for like, ice cream things (like frappes and sundaes) which i have not tried yet but one day soon i will, one day when i completely let myself go *they do not however sell beer/wine or condoms.* xoxo read more

Alexanders is a staple in the community here. Always busy with a mix of quick in out traffic for various sundry items as well as folks lingering around the sandwich counter waiting for one of their huge and tasty hand made sandwiches. You can get pretty much anything and the specials are a great way to work through the menu. In a hurry, call in and order ahead! read more

Overall, great cheap eats - sure they could be a little more organized and a little more polite when taking orders, but what's the fun in that? Food is always worth your money and the onion rings are great! Oh, and don't forget it has KENO! read more

The "place on the corner" that literally has everything. Cheap dinners (steak and cheese sub with fries for 5.99, etc.) that are fantastic. I love the buffalo mozzarella cheese sticks. The staff is friendly, and although not the fastest, for the price and quality and the proximity to my place, the tradeoff is unbeatable. I can get grocery items in a pinch, cheap food, ice cream and richies slush, everything else, always leave happy. Portions are huge. read more
