Now open. Soft opening as of this review so that they can smooth their operations out. Ordered during weeknight dinner and took about 30 min. The Fat Greek offers an array of Greek dishes in a fast-casual setting. Similar to Subway or Chipotle, the choices are pretty straight-forward. The menu has many Greek favorites, with one of the special gyros called "The Fat Greek", a gyro that has three different meats, fresh vegetables and creamy tzatziki, and special "FAT SAUCE". The falafel wrap was also tasty for a quick serve restaurant. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Welcome Pano and The Fat Greek team to the neighborhood!

Big portions and good food. Be prepared for a bit of a wait - at least the day that I went.

Chicken was dry as a bone. Potatoes were hard and pita was soggy because it was in styrofoam container and not in foil or anything.

Can't believe I've been living in the area for over a decade and never thought to check it out…read more Ironically, I only discovered this place because I had to park nearby and walk nearly 3 blocks to the Mediterranean Grill which proved to be an underwhelming experience, but noticed this place due to the "Zagat rated" sign in the window which piqued my interest. Well, sometimes the best things happen by pure chance...and thus I came back to try out this place a couple weeks later, and found it to be far and away the best Greek/Mediterranean food I've ever had in the entire greater Boston area! It's easy to see why this place is Zagat rated. Easily beats out bigger, trendier and fancier-looking, much pricier "Greek" places such as Zo Greek in Somerville's Assembly Square (review upcoming) as well as the more downmarket hole in the wall places like Falafel King. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. Loved the Sampler Plate for two, everything on it was absolutely scrumptious and next time I might order one just for myself so I don't need to share it with anyone else, hahaha...really brings out your inner greedy-S.O.B.! Also loved that their fresh-cut french fries are actually pan-fried, not deep fried...first time I've ever encountered that anywhere in this city, and they were also crazy good...instead of just tasting the oil as happens with deep-frying (especially if they are frozen fries with that yucky mushy cardboard texture) you actually get the full flavor of the (gasp!) POTATOES, and do not need to drown them in ketchup or salt the living daylights out of them. Truly a "homemade" experience! We tried both the "Greek" fries and the regular fries, both were rave-worthy...and this is from someone who normally avoids fries in restaurants because they are usually made from tasteless frozen potatoes. Lamb kebab and moussaka were also excellent, as was the baklava and galaktoboureko. Baklava outside of the Mediterranean and Middle East tends to be very mediocre and overly sweet...not here! Lastly, it's a beautiful and charming spot. It doesn't make any attempt to be trendy or gimmicky. Just has a warm friendly ambiance, which also describes the service. Can't recommend this place enough...will definitely be one of my regular go-to places!

Chicken kebab plate: chicken was spiced fairly well but hadn't been properly brine or marinated so it was rather dry. Lamb kebab plate, first it was 4 chunk of meat which were about half the serving size at most other restaurants. The lamb was extremely chewy with lots of connective tissues. One of the four was so bad that it was inedible. Low quality meat and lack of proper marinading to compensate for it. No reason to return when there are so many other options right nearby

Anyone local already knows this Brighton spot hits! I've been getting food from here for years and…read moreit's consistently great. Friendly, efficient service- definitely seems like a family business. It's classic Greek fare (not a pizza joint) featuring rotisserie meats and fresh grill items with an array of hot/cold Mediterranean apps & sides. Recently the small dining room was made over a bit and now is a charming casual sit-down spot for lunch and Dinner... but I think most of the business is takeout. You cannot go wrong with the Greek salad with the amazing creamy tangy herby Greek dressing with any protein on there. The kebabs, grill items like chicken/salmon/lamb are infused with fresh grilled flavor. The veggie dishes and spreads are delicious, the Tzatziki & Hummus are fresh and both light yet rich. The avogolemono soup is very nice (perfect for hangover or if you have a cold) and I love the stuffed grape leaves & spanikopita. All the standard hot sides are great- try the sweet butternut squash purée, tomato-y green beans, and corn or rice pilaf. I always top off the order with a Mythos (bottled Greek beer), tastes great and I like the fun red pull tab. Parking is very tight so be prepared to park on street. Check it out!

One thing that was unclear is how much bread/salad comes with the meals and sides we ordered, so we over-ordered bread and salad, which id want to avoid in the future. Would order again!

We ordered the meatballs, the souvla of the day and the salad. Everything was so tasty. You can't go wrong with anything here. The table next to us had the huge sampler which was about $240 but was one of every dish on the menu. This is a perfect choice for six to 8 people. Service was super friendly. They left a large bottle of water on the table, which I love. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. Go here! You won't regret it.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.
