What a little gem! Thank you to other Yelpers who helped me find this small takeout place, specializing in Mediterranean (Greek) deliciousness. We ordered the chicken souvlaki plate with rice and salad and it was yummy, with a skewer of chicken that was nicely spiced. They cleaned the grill before cooking as we needed it to be gluten free (GF), which their online ordering supports (along with other sensitivities-a great model for other restaurants to follow). We also had their chicken gyro plate with potatoes and salad with homemade Greek dressing. Yummy!!! The chicken gyro is a chicken breast with Greek spices, (not processed from a vertical spinning spit). When I saw the baklava (NOT GF!), the owner told me his father makes it daily. They thoughtfully packaged it separately for me to take home so there would not be cross contamination with the GF items. It was fresh, with cinnamon, honey, and brought my taste buds to heaven! My family members who are GF gave me appropriate glaring looks as I did a happy dance. After searching for good, authentic Greek takeout in the area, I've found a good place. I will be returning. I just ordered two take-out salads (Greek and Mesculin, each with marinated chicken) for a working lunch. Both were outstanding, straighforward ingredients but top quality and very fresh. I literally watched the chicken for each come straight off the grill. Also, service is very friendly and personal. Staff offered to call an elderly man (whom they obviously knew) once his preferred soup (still simmering during prep) was ready for the day. Highly recommended! read more

Not sure what is happening to my favorite place! The last few times I ordered a Greek salad with chicken I was disappointed in the small amount of chicken and I barely find the feta cheese on the salad! Your prices have increased and the sizes of chicken and feta have decreased. I don't mind paying if I am getting what I ordered! Also, I hate being forced to tip when I order online. I got the chicken Souvlaki Salad and was not expecting it to be this fantastic. I've never had feta so smooth, and the olives, roasted pepper & pepperoncini's were to die for. While waiting at the Subaru repair shop, I ordered a side of grilled chicken and a side of grilled veggies. Great way to make an inexpensive and delicious lunch (about $8.50 total). The grilled chicken was BOMB. Great balsamic and herby undertones. The grilled veggies were great too, although it would be fun if they included some broccoli in their veggies. The -1 star is because I feel like this place generally serves overly buttery dishes. Sandwiches I have gotten in the past have been visibly drenched in butter. While tasty, I wouldn't want to eat this much butter often. I think of My Other Kitchen as the Greek lunch version of Haute Coffee -- different offerings but similar vibes. Both are quite aesthetic places, not a place you'd go to rush in and grab food but a place to linger and enjoy a bit. read more

A simple 'mom n pop' restaurant serving the most authentic Greek delicacies. Do try their Tsatziki - it is simply the best with homemade pita! I tried the lamb with roasted veggies and it was delicious. The lamb burger is the restaurant recommended dish, it looks like. Saw a lot of people ordering it. The ambience is very casual with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are very friendly and make the dish to your preference. Pricing is moderate and there is limited parking available. You will have to park on the street when it gets busy. This tiny hole in the wall deserves a lot of praise. Do try it if you are in the Boston area. Will I return? : Heck yeah! read more

Grabbed a delicious chicken souvlaki plate with chicken gyro on the side last night. It was so fresh and flavorful and the texture of the gyro was absolutely perfect. For sides, I highly recommend the roasted veggies and Greek salad... They sound so simple but they do them right here. I chose the rice and it turned out to have some undercooked pieces so I wish I chose another side to try. I often measure a restaurant on how they make a basic salad, and this place, wow, they made a near perfect yet simple Greek salad ($10.95). The feta was so fresh and soft that it was presented as a small scoop rather than crumbles. The tomatoes looked like heirloom ones, and were delicious. I ordered the 1/2 salad with spinach pie, which was AMAZING. The pastry was so flaky and the spinach with feta cheese was so flavorful. Considering inflation, I'm rather shocked that George is able to keep the prices relatively low. My friend ordered pancakes and bacon (!) as they were kind enough to make it for her even though it was after 11am, and they looked so good. In fact my friend told me (and them) that she drives all the way from Roxbury to just get their pancakes. They have no seating inside so it's ordering inside then take it home or enjoy the food at one of their small outdoor tables (about 4) with umbrellas for plenty of shade. Since the heat and humidity finally broke, we decided to eat outdoors at one of their tables, and never felt rushed to leave. If sitting outside, they bring your food to you but know that's in disposable boxes with plastic cutlery. For me, this is the only drawback yet I understand why it's the case considering that it's really mostly a takeout place. I'm definitely visiting again soon. read more

The people here were some of the friendliest and most polite I've ever interacted with at a restaurant. The salads we got as sides were delicious and every ingredient in our sandwiches was noticeably fresh. The brownie we got for dessert was incredible, we'd go back just for that. The food is sooooo good. Definitely punching way above their weight here. Loved the lamb and the chicken souvlaki entrees - all of the meats were flavorful and tender, the rice was tasty (not sure how they're seasoning it but I suspect soup stock might be involved), and the Greek salad components were fresh and delicious. Even the raw tomatoes were exceptional - juicy and sweet, peak summer produce. If we lived nearby we'd definitely be regulars. read more

The food was pretty good. But. Bless their hearts, this is not a smooth operation. A half dozen people standing in the sun outside the restaurant, a single waitress/cashier frantically trying to turn two jobs into one. There we all stand, in pockets, trying to hear the muffled name squeaked out by the shy teen-ish employee, who then has to ask each bystander what they ordered until the lucky lotto winner is found. They're trying, but the constant whir of cars 30' away don't do her mild communication any favors. Everyone is having labor problems, but these folks really seem to be struggling. The tally was kept on a handheld credit card machine, so there was no easy way to see what I was charged for or how much it was. I asked for a printed receipt, and it doesn't have prices on it. I'm not sure if I was charged correctly, but my meal was on the pricy said even even a good "takeout" experience, although they have a few tables outside for dining. I'd say they're just way overworked, but they aren't actually cranking out many orders. It took half an hour to get a lamb plate and spinach pie. They weren't able to print a receipt with prices even when asked again. The menu is slightly different, and You won't know that until you get up to the lectern either because you paid your dues in line, or you spotted them ahead of time and sneaked a reach. Everything I order here is top notch. I just had a favorite, the spinach pie. Never fails to be hot, flavorful, and crispy. The rosasted potato's are better than mom used to make. Salads are so fresh that it reminds me of my brief visit to Greece. In summary, this place is aptly named. They cook everything as if it were homemade. I've tried this place a handful of times, each time hoping it'll live up to the hype, but I've been disappointed each time. The last time was a few weeks ago during a busy dinner hour. I appreciate that this is a very small and busy operation, but the food took 25 mins longer than I was told to come out and was burnt (45 minutes total wait time), overcooked and underwhelming on flavor. The girl at the cashier was clearly overwhelmed and frantically trying to sort out orders. I ordered a chicken gyro pita and a chicken souvlaki plate. The chicken and potatoes had a visible black char that was more than just light grill marks. The rice in particular tasted like the pot it was cooked in hadn't been washed out properly or something - it had a peculiar aftertaste and was very bland. Unfortunately I've been disappointed by this place before and don't plan to come back anytime soon. read more

The inside was small but the staff all have hearts of gold. A place that I felt like I've been a million times, but it was our first. You can choose if you prefer a dark roast coffee or light roast coffee and they had several teas to choose from to start. We went to celebrate my mom's birthday, and we both chose to have the avocado grilled tomato sandwich. I asked them to change my eggs from scrambled to over easy. So I got an open faced sandwich and it was so delicious. I was a little chilly in the small restaurant which had about 8 to 10 barstools to sit on. I bet it's delightful in the summertime because they have a sitting area outside. So I would say that it's not for small kids, there was a group of three moms with children that came in and did leave because they didn't have a place where they could comfortably sit with toddlers. Although they had a whole bunch of toddler seats off to the side that would've made it work. The food was epic, totally something I would do again. Especially if it's nice outside. read more

SOOOOOO GOOOOOD! We've been doing lunch in because we're working from home. We took a risk on My Other Kitchen, and we're glad we did. NEW FAVORITE. Had the lamb plates -- one with a green salad (filled with veg and mixed lettuces) & potato (clearly home fries, not breaded but oven roasted), the other with grilled zucchini and (not breaded!) zucchini. OMG. Huge portions, great taste. Lamb was cooked properly and well seasoned, rich but not fatty. Finished everything off, and then indulged in garlic yogurt with Persian cucumbers, mixed spiced olives, and feta. We still have left overs and its the best lunch we've had in months. Great mix of meat & veg, with minimal bread, but even the pita tasted good. Made the high metabolism guy and dieting girl very happy. read more

The food was edible but not fantastic, like it usually is. I ordered take-out. They must have been in a hurry because it looked like they threw everything in the container. Veggies were swimming in oil and super charred. The chicken gyro (which is more like a big chicken burger) had a very LARGE piece of cartilage joint in it -- truly unappealing! The potatoes were the saddest of all... They tasted like nothing but POTATOES! They used to be deliciously seasoned and just finger-licking good! No longer. Truly disappointed. I don't travel to Boston all the time, but when I do, I like to spend my money on something delectable. I doubt I'll be returning. :( read more
