Food was good, the place is in need of a remodel/makeover it is very old and outdated. We walked in and there was no one to greet us we stood there for 5 minutes discussing if we should leave and go somewhere else and then an older gentlemen approached us and said it would be a 20 minute wait. There were many empty tables so it was confusing for a restaurant that has a full bar to not want to seat you right away. It might be part of his customer prevention plan as we were not a local couple. We were seated about 20 minutes later and our waiter was warm and very nice. We ordered our meal and we were happy with our food selections. The portions are large and the bolognese was on the sweet side. The prices are too high for what you get. read more

Consistently great. This restaurant is not afraid to use Italian spices! Many Italian places do not serve carbonara. Brick Oven has one of the best. It has a good amount of onion and pancetta; a perfect balance! Their meatballs are also yummy. Top it off with a crispy cannoli and soon you will return for a delicious pizza pie! This was our first visit here and I must say we were very pleased. It's a wonder it took us this long to try this place. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because the lighting in the dining room is lacking. We had no light above our booth and if it wasn't for the fact that it was still sunny outside, we would have had trouble seeing the menu and our food. The bread that came out was soft and delicious compared to other restaurants. My wife hates hard bread. She had the chicken parmigiano entrée which was outstanding. I had the chicken siciliana which was chicken breast with whole garlic and rosemary in a wine sauce. OMG it was amazing! The vegetables that came with it were potatoes, carrots, zucchini, and squash. I requested only potatoes and carrots. They were delicious! We will certainly be back as I want to try their take on pasta jambalaya which includes duck. read more

Absolutely delicious! We both had the Redfish Picata with Shrimp and Crawfish on top. Everything was perfect and so yummy. The dish comes with pasta, but I can't eat pasta so they offered red potatoes. OMG these red potatoes were delicious! Service was wonderful; we had a large party with several servers - all of them were so friendly and accommodating, and very prompt with our meals and keeping our drinks filled. read more

Pros: The wait staff seemed pleasant enough. The portion sizes are huge. I mean it. My fiancé and I both brought home over half of our entrees, and both have another entire meal a piece. The food tastes okay. Nothing was offensive or ill prepared. Cons: While they may have been nice, the two girls that waited on our table seemed a little more interested in gossiping than actually on typical restaurant duties. While the portions were very large, the food was underwhelming. Nothing about it really stood out as anything I would need to order again. We've been eating here a lot lately. I love white tablecloths, cloth napkins, stemware, silver and fresh bread. What a great way to get started. Their fried calamari is some of the best I've ever tasted, served with a spicy marinara. Their chicken Marsala is perfection and enough for two to split. The crust was the best part of the pizza. There was chicken on the pizza but it was very dry, and too hard to consume. The waitress we had kept rushing us to order. We sent her away 5 times after we told her the for the second time we were waiting for our last guest to arrive to order. Then when we asked for bread she continue to forget until the end of our meal and finally brought the bread over. She also lack enthusiasm. Waitress done a wonderful job! That's about all that was good. Quality of food compared to price is non existent. We had a party of six and again I will say excellent service, how ever no one in the party could say that they felt their food was good especially compared to the price of what you pay. Also I may add they advertise a price inflation due to Covid. So the price you see on the menu expect it to be 2-4 dollars more. My husband and I just had an excellent Friday dinner here! Our server, Lisa, was outstanding- friendly, efficient and checked on us enough but not too much. We had the eggplant for an appetizer- it was delicious. Crispy at the edges and stuffed with cheese and sauce. My husband got the spaghetti carbonara and I got the chicken parm. Both were cooked well and full of flavor. And the portions were huge! The salad with the Italian dressing was amazing and the bread that comes with the meal was to die for. The only reason this review isn't 5-stars is because the restaurant has a handful of little up charges and things that seem un-necessary. For example, refills on soda are $.50. To change the type of salad or soup with your entree, is $2.00. A side of salad dressing, if you aren't eating a salad, is $3.00. And so forth. It seemed silly, honestly- especially when the food isn't cheap on its own. Other than that, the food and service were fantastic. read more

"Italian cuisine and brick oven cooked pizza". Conveniently located en rouge to the New Orleans Airport (Kenner area). If we did not need to be so close to the airport to ensure family got to the airport on time, we probably would not have picked this restaurant. It was Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was not full and I am sure they are used to people telling them they are in a hurry to catch a flight. So, with that said, service was fast our waitress was very efficient. The food was decent. I got the chicken parmigiana, my husband the lasagna, mom got spaghetti bolognese and dad got the spaghetti and meatballs. I was highly satisfied with the cheesy-ness of the chicken & lasagna dishes, but the spaghetti dishes were highly disappointing. The meat quality seemed very low-grade for the meatballs and the bolognese, so those two dishes wowed the least. If you are in a hurry to get to the airport, this is not a bad spot to check out, but if you have some time to search around, there are other places in the surrounding area that you will have better luck at. I love that they cook their pizza in a brick oven though, but did not get to try it; maybe next time! read more

We go out, minimum, four times a week, and we like us some Italian food. But this place gave me, without any pretentious snobbery or silliness, the absolute best Italian meal I've ever had. I ordered the Pollo Rollitini (sp?), which was like a stuffed cordon-bleu on steroids, and it came with Marsala-sauteed veggies. And, wow, it was so good. Unfortunately, my assumption of this place is on the money. This is a fancy airport restaurant. Food is between "OK" to "good"(for New Orleans standards its below PAR). Definitely pricey. Not worth going except for maybe a business meeting that you can write off. The service was good, but the waiter we had was a little on the pushy side. The chicken with angel hair pasta I had ordered had a lot of water(not drained properly) and was only given a small portion chicken breast but paid full price. Went here because it was close to our hotel. Our waitress was interesting, let's say. I asked her how certain items on the menu were and every answer was: "I don't know - that dish scares me" or "I don't eat that because I'm a picky eater." Those were the NICE things she had to say. So I figured the chicken Caesar salad would be safe. WRONG. It was tasteless, very little chicken, and the dressing wasn't Caesar - it wasa very bad bottled Italian. My friend had the jambalaya. It wasn't what I thought it would be but omfg....I felt like I was dining with mobsters or something. I felt like Michael Carleone and I were masterminding a devious plot eating Mozzarella corazza and salad with sunflower seeds in it. The atmosphere was great. I walked in and was seated and Greeted immediately. I loved how my server (her name was Jody by the way!) was so attentive to my needs and she made me feel like a celebrity guest or something. I enjoyed my 40 minutes before work I have to tell yah. My mozzarella Corazza was like a garlic bread and mozzarella stick put together and the marinara sauce was delicious. I had a lot of mozzarella cheese on their too which i had a kiddie moment and played with the mozzarella cheese. Omg now my salad was so delicious and good. There were sunflower seeds and roasted chicken in my salad and i was able to substitute the Italian dressing for Ranch, It was so good and very fulfilling! I enjoyed my food, however please dont think there is normal food cause there isnt really. Very Italiany and the pizzas are heated and crafted up in the brick oven. It was cool overall , but i deducted the star because of the issues i had with parking. There is nothing really special here, but that doesn't mean that it's bad, In fact I think it's pretty good for what it is. The pizza, though not really "gourmet" as claimed is still pretty good. Nice, crispy not too thick crust and decent toppings. The pasta dishes are for the most part standard southern Italian red sauce variety. The portions are generous. The prices aren't bad. The place also refers to itself as a "wine bar". While that may be a bit of a stretch there is a decent selection of moderately priced wine by the glass. I had Chianti that went very well the pizza. Oh, the interior reminded me of a circa 1976 disco. Tacky and dated but well kept and clean so I guess that's OK. Who knows? Maybe that's the look that they were going for. All in all, it's not the best red sauce Italian around but it's at least as good as many of the chains. read more

Mixed emotions! Lasagna was amazing, however a bit pricey for the portion. Spaghetti meatballs was great, a little pricey even though my son raved about it. Caesar salad had "ok" flavor but was a little too "wet" for my taste. The service was amazing, very pleased with all the staff and their knowledge. I hate big companies that suck the life out of the restaurant business, and I always prefer to shop and buy local. On that note I do feel that Brick Oven is just a tiny bit over priced. I was in MSY on a long layover and needed some lunch. After a quick walk from the crew hotel I found Brick Oven Cafe. What a nice place. They have great lunch specials. I ordered the pasta and eggplant. It also comes with a soup or salad. I had the side salad and also ordered a cup of minnestrone soup. TIP: Get the house salad dressing on the side. It is awesome and since its on the side...you have a great dip for your bread. I was told by my waitress that they sell the dressing as well. The soup was well seasoned. Usually restaurants add way to much salt to soup. This was spot on. My pasta was cooked very well. The eggplant was not soggy either. I am very picky about my sauce. It wasn't a bad sauce. But I have had better. It for sure would not keep me from coming back the next time I am in town. A previous poster said the portions were small. I can't speak for the dinner portions. But the lunch portion I had was just fine. The staff was very attentive and very nice. I sat at the bar which surrounds the brick oven. Overall the rest of the decor is a bit dated though and could use a modern facelift. The owner has some obsession with rooster figurines. I counted three of them! It's been a few years since I've been here. Went with 3 friends at 6 pm. Ordered food at 6:10. By 7:05, we had not been served our food. Questioned the waiter why so long, no answer so we asked for manager. What a mistake. This man was completely unprofessional. Told us our food was delayed because they had a lot of take out orders, although 3 other people who sat before us ate and left and we still had no food. We just got up and left after waiting a total of 75 min and still no answer on how much longer. As we were walking out, he told kitchen to cancel order because the f@#×ing people left. Terrible. Close to the hotels by the airport, but i'd rather order a pizza in. We ate at the bar since there was a 20 minute wait for this over done, too many mirrors, lights and fake new york accents place. I know i'm being harsh and what did i expect eating Italian in New Orleans, but it was in walking distance to the hotel. Hubby got Jambalaya - ugh. The sauce was terrible, it had duck in it, just not appealing and it was over spaghetti... weird. I went with caprece salad. Ugh. A gallon of balsamic dressing, and just ok. We had started with the calamari and it was over fried. Super hard, and chewy. Ugh. Disappointing all around. I would definitely not recommend for anyone to eat here - it was crowded.
