Of course I have been back to this place multiple times since my initial review. However, I went in November of 2025 and you can tell something changed. The Alfredo sauce was watery and salty. I sent the food back and left with nothing. I assumed it was a fluke because all prior experiences were amazing. I went back in December 2025 and it was clear then that something definitely changed. The bread pudding was tough, the Alfredo sauce was loose... shortly after this, I learned they closed down. read more

Recent take out review: The food here is very good -- super flavorful, consistent, and just as tasty as I remembered from dining in a couple years ago. No complaints on quality at all. But the value doesn't match the price. I paid $17 for a very small lasagna, and $27.50 for a fettuccine that came with what looked like barely one chicken breast and maybe half a portion of noodles. For the cost, the portions were surprisingly small. For a $30 plate, i'd expect more food Overall, the food is delicious, but the portions don't justify the price. If they offered more generous servings, it would easily be a top-tier experience! 4.5/5 for the food taste 2.5/5 for the value and portion size 3.5/5 for the vibe / ambiance 4/5 staff read more

The pizza was great. I would definitely order it again. The Pennyville needed a lemon butter sauce, drastically, and the entire dish, especially the tomato sauce needed salt. Otherwise it was pretty good. read more

As much as I enjoyed this place on my first visit I can't believe it took me 3 years to get back here. I again got the shrimp and crab pizza that was as good as I remember. Also tried the penne diavola which was delicious! I visited with my mom and we both had sangria. I had the spicy mango and my mom had the berry hibiscus sangria and both were refreshing. I was stuffed but couldn't leave without getting the bread pudding and it didn't disappoint. The candied pecans were the perfect touch. It won't be another 3 years before I return! read more

Came here for dinner on a friends recommendation and it was delicious. It's very small, only a dozen or so tables but we were seated pretty fast and the service was great. Lots of the food passing by on the way to other tables looked good and they also have a wood fired pizza oven. I would definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try. read more

A co-worker told me about this place. She hit "the nail on the head," with this little gem. I went to have a good pizza. However I did not get pizza. I chose the fried chicken Parmesan. It was awesome. Red gravy is rich with a bit of "twang" which offsets the richness of the cheese. I loved it! My husband had the veal Picatta it was amazin! Service was vey attentive. Ambiance top notch! Elegant yet simple. Airy and vibrant. We will definitely return for that pizza. Off street parking available. read more

Went here on a Saturday recently with friends. The food was great. Huge portions. I got a small Alfredo with chicken and still ended up taking home leftovers. The calamari was good, fried just not right and not squishy at all. The sangria special was also good. Definitely recommend a reservation since they had a huge party when I first walked in. Will definitely be back. The service was good, just a little slow. read more

Wow--Oak Oven is top notch. We started with the fried eggplant and calamari, and both were an excellent way to kick off the meal. For my entrée, I went with the penne pasta, which came with chicken, spinach, mushrooms, and garlic--absolutely delicious. I also tried the lamb meatball pizza, and it was full of flavor, topped with dollops of creamy ricotta that took it to the next level. I loved it. Overall, Oak Oven serves outstanding food, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I'll definitely be back to explore the menu. read more

I actually came here because I saw a local influencer post about their oxtail pizza on Instagram. This pizza wasn't listed on the menu or the specials chalkboard but they said it was still available to order for a limited time. We ordered the oxtail pizza, the lamb meatball pizza and a pepperoni pizza. The oxtail pizza actually looked nothing like the pizza I saw online besides the hot sauce and when I showed the influencer who posted it they were also puzzled and said they would reach out to the restaurant to see what was going on. Nevertheless, all the pizzas were good. The lamb meatball was actually probably my favorite one. The crust is really good as well. read more

Oak Oven in Harahan is like your Italian grandma's cooking--if she had a wood-fired oven and a black belt in pizza-making. Everything was excellent but......the pumpkin and crab bisque was a total game changer. Cozy vibes, top-tier carbs--wear stretchy pants and thank me later. read more

The fettuccine Alfredo continues to have a sour taste. It is served lukewarm warm, had to send back to heat. I eat alfredo all the time at many places! This place is the worst. They changed cooks, or owners several years ago. And that's when the food changed. Pizzas are cold snd bottom is. Burnt! manager cane to my table to confront me as to why I did not like my food. I told her. She continued to tell Me how much she like it. I was so embarrassed to be confronted in front of people in the restaurant' ! That was so wrong! I hope she reads this. And learns you do not embarrass the customer. I was happy to just stay silent and leave. But she made that impossible! read more

Had to stop in again, because we had a craving. :) Just past lunch crowd again. Quiet. Hannah H. was our server, and she brought my soda and husband's glass of wine quickly. Went with the wonderful Salsiccia Pizza again, this time as an appetizer, and husband ordered the large fettucine with chicken this time. I stuck with the small spaghetti, since I had to have the yummy spicy pumpkin soup with crab. This time there was a LOT of crab, almost too much, if there is such a thing. The piece de resistance was the daily dessert special of an apple fritter topped with meringue and a side of cinnamon ice cream ($12). OH MY HANNAH! It was absolutely the most unique version of an apple fritter I have ever had, and if it's on the menu next time we visit, I'm eating dessert first. read more

Ordered raviolis($16), a Margherita($16) & an oxtail($22) pizza to go. The pizza wasn't as good as if you are there and the raviolis only had 4 regular size pieces. It's hard to write a bad review when you've had so many good experiences everytime before. This review is solely based on the service provided. We walked up and was greeted at the door by the manager. She asked if we were dining in and we said we would like to. She looked at her watch for about 3 seconds longer than she needed to. My brother realizing they were closing in 25 mins says that's ok, we can go somewhere else. She said No No yall come in. We knew what we wanted right away so we ordered immediately. We got a pizza, a small pasta dish and I ordered a salad. The waiter said we are out of romaine we only have arugula and spinach. I said that'll be fine, assuming the intent of the words used was perceived to be a substitution. The pizza comes out followed by the pasta dish. After he passed a few more times I stopped and asked if the salad was coming. he replied you said nevermind. I said no, I said that'll be fine. I had ordered a salad that was to have romaine bacon egg tomato and olives with a Parmigiano dressing. The salad that came out had spinach apples candied pecans raisins feta and a balsamic pepper jelly vinegarette. Needless to say we were highly disappointed in the service. The food except the salad was amazing as it always is. Hopefully the service can improve for next time. We felt rushed the entire time we were there. They tried bussing the table with food still on the plate. read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in town. We never had a bad meal in all the years they have been open. We were there tonight and I ordered something new on the menu. I ordered red meat and asked for medium rare. The first steak came out well done. The second steak was raw. The service has always been good but there weren't enough people working the floor. The owners need to understand their restaurant is no longer the place it was. read more

I have had a gift card for this place for like 4 years and finally decided to go check it out. It's quaint and cute. It is in a location that used to be a Popeyes but is redone beautifully. The kitchen is open so you can see the making of the pasta. Service was quick and amazing. The food was delicious. I ordered a pizza to go but indulged in the spinach salad, Fruiti de golfo and shrimp papparadelle via dining in. All ingredients were fresh. This place is great for a date night, lunch date, solid date, etc. I'll be back soon. read more

Was visiting friends, it was getting late, but they were still open and serving. We had the Formaggi and the Pollo Pizzas! They were wonderful! I had perused the menu, and after eating such delicious dishes, I had to wonder about the Lasagna. We couldn't decide the next night where to go and I mentioned it. To say the lasagna was good would be an understatement!! There are no words to describe the umami that happened in my mouth! The flavors roll across you tongue, the fragrance from that bowl......all I can say is YUM. If you haven't tried it, it's a must. I only wish I wasn't a two-day car drive to have it again! I love this little hidden gem off of Jefferson highway. A friend and I decided to check this place out on a Tuesday evening for an early dinner! Best decision ever! We did NOT have a reservation, but they were able to get us in. I tried the harvest salad I believe is what it was called and it was refreshing. They have a small and large size, the small salad was split between two people and it was a great portion. For my entree I got the Margherita Pizza just for myself and I had three pieces leftover. For dessert we decided to split the bread pudding with icecream . IT WAS AMAZING! The candied pecans were everything ! Our waiter was attentive, pricing was reasonable and SUPPORT LOCAL! The food was delicious and the staff was amazing. Don't forget the ambiance was great.

Some dishes superb, some a miss. The pizza had a nice char and texture. The piccata had no lemon taste at all, the chicken was dry. The wedding soup was well seasoned and had plenty veggies. The artichoke appetizer had a beautiful presentation. The sauce was too rich. Heavy cream and cheese. The meatballs were good but under seasoned, the spaghetti was over cooked. The service was friendly and personalized. Server was attentive and knowledgeable. Good amount of seating. Good choice of daily specials including desserts. read more

I'll begin by saying the food was delicious and I had every intention of eating all my leftovers. I ordered the Margherita Pizza with roasted garlic, Beccafico and Budino di Pane a la Mode. I had dinner 4/1/23 @ around 4-4:30pm The problem started at 4:00am the next day. Pretty much vomited from 4:30- 7:30 am. Around 6:15am, I mustered up the strength to drive to Walmart to get some Pepto-Bismol, Pedialyte and Gatorade. While in Walmart, i vomited. I called the establishment April 3rd @4:03 pm and asked by accident to speak to the owner the female employee said that the owner was not available. I said may I speak to the manager. She stated that the manager was not available. I left a message with her detailing that I thought I had been food poisoned. Of course this is a long story short, we were on the phone 7minutes. I asked to have a call back so that I could discuss it with the manager. That call never happened. The major problem I have is either cross contamination or dishonesty of menu items. There is a crabcake with oysters available as an appetizer. My entrée has crab in it however it does not list that it contains oysters. I am allergic to oysters. She said there is no oysters in my entrée. She said that perhaps there was cross-contamination. I felt dismissed after she asked me if I had went to the hospital. I did not. I barely had the strength to go to Walmart to get those items just to try to stop the vomiting. I was also asked if I told the waitress I was allergic to oysters. I didn't tell her because I didn't think I needed to because the dish I ordered has no oysters listed. I specifically asked her if the same lump crab meat mixture is use for the app and entrée and she said no. read more

Someone greeted us immediately when we walk which is nice since there's not a hostess stand. Eventhough the dining area is a bit small it's very nice. It seemed to be a go to restaurant for the business people in thw area. We sat at a 2 person table which I normally don't like but the table top wasn't small so it wasn't a problem. Russell immediately arrived, introduced himself and took our drink orders and answered our menu questions. We took a while talking and deciding on our order and Russell gave us time without hovering. While we waited we were entertained because the kitchen/prep area is somewhat open we were able to watch the pizza dough person tossing the dough in the air for the pizzas. We shared a small Caesar salad, a small homemade fettuccine and a carne pizza. The small salad was a nice size portion even when split. The pasta was light, not dough'y and cooked perfectly. The Alfredo sauce was not heavy and gooey like you normally get but instead it was light with just the right amount of cream, cheese and pasta water for a great consistency and taste. The carne pizza was definitely not short on toppings. I'm not sure of the exact meats they use but they're definitely not run of the mill. Im pretty sure the sausage is homemade and the pepperoni isn't the typical cheap, thin sliced stuff. The meat on the pizza was most certainly top shelf! During the entire meal Russell came to the table several times to make sure our water was refilled, to ask if we needed anything and to ask if we were enjoying our meal. Service and taste were top notch and the prices don't break the bank. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in Harahan and I will be returning! read more

I visited here for the first time on Saturday. Overall I had a very good experience. There was onsite parking. The place was kind of small inside and was packed. I believe the website recommended reservations but I came as a walk-in. I lucked up and was able to take the one available table. The waitress was nice. It was very busy. All the staff seemed to be moving fast and working hard. I had to end up going up to the counter to request eating utensils when my food came because there was none at my table and I couldn't flag down a staff person due to the busyiness. I ordered the calamari. It came with three dipping sauces. I really enjoyed the tomato basil sauce. I also ordered the small penne diavola. It was quite spicy. The waitress warned me of the spice level but I don't mind spice and so I gave it a try. The shrimp and crabmeat chunks were a nice size. If you prefer medium to no spice then this dish isn't for you. I also ordered the bread pudding that comes with vanilla gelato. All of the food was very tasty. The bread pudding was a bit pricey but it was so tasty that I would still order it again. read more

On a business trip, I had a hankering for pizza & this joint was reasonably close, had decent reviews & looked good online. A recent (or still fresh) exterior-redo greeted me upon arrival/parking & a bright, open & modern interior was a pleasant surprise regardless of a somewhat struggling AC... I was alone & enjoy staff interaction, they were friendly & knowledgable & suggested a mash-up of 2 pizza's I couldn't decide between (it's been some time as I write this & cannot recall the specific pizzas). The calamari appetizer was fresh & crispy & a went down nice with a cold beer. We've been eating here coming up to 7 years now. If anything, the food has gotten better. I can't say I have a real favorite. I'll select pasta dishes from all over the menu. I like the idea that they have both small and large plates for most of the pasta dishes, to suit my hunger. If pressed for a favorite, then it is probably the veal parmesan. My wife's favorite entrée is the eggplant parmesan. Over the first part of last year, I don't know how many times she sent me here to pick up an order of the eggplant for her. I'm glad that they are now open again for inside dining. read more

I want to love this place, the food tastes good but I'm concerned with their ingredients. On their site they boast about using high end quality ingredients...but come to find out the bread dipping oil was not even a good olive oil, it was a canola oil blend. I wouldn't have even thought to ask because what Italian restaurant doesn't use a good olive oil?! That was disappointing to hear, I stay far far away from canola/vegetable/seed oils. Also, when we went in there was hardly anyone there, we didn't have a reservation and the attitude was quite snooty, not sure why. read more

The pizza was good for my granddaughter (she's 6). First we wait 15 mins after we ordered for them to tell us they ran out of chicken at 7:45pm on a Saturday. Offered us veal and Grilled shrimp. We Said ok. They came back with horrible looking food to start with. The shrimp looked dry and there were 5 medium shrimp in the fettuccini pasta (that they boasted was Hand made) and it was Cooked to death! I mean they Had to cook that maybe 7 mins for Handmade pasta (which should have been 1 to 1.5 mins). It was gummy and awful. I had a risotto dish that was cooked like oatmeal, mushy and awful. These people do no know how to cook Italian food. The table beside me was pissed bc their food was not good either but they were hungry so they kept it. Another table next to me ordered 2 chicken dishes- and guess what-no chicken of course so they ate pizza and were pissed too. Not for me, no way. They apologized and offered me a dessert. Hell no you can keep your dessert. It will be as awful as the food. You can take my meal off and let me go get a burger. Well they charged me 3.50 for a child's tea, and my wife's tea. She did have a soup that was edible and I guess that was 10 bucks for a cup of Soup. So let me sum this up. 3.50 for 2 sweet teas, $10.00 for a soup. $10.00 dollars for a child pizza. (I did have 2 glasses of wine which I fully expect to pay for that was 20 bucks) so with tip ($13.00), I paid 60 dollars for 1 child's pizza, 2 sweet teas, 1-cup of soup and 2 glasses of wine. This is horrible. Do not eat here. The mgmt apologized that I didn't get chicken because they sold most of the food they got for the week. But wanted me to know that it was better that I didn't get what I wanted to eat (that I ordered) as long as they didn't have to throw out food this week. Nice. SMH. Save your money and go somewhere else. The building is under construction, there is no structure at all! They told us to walk up front and look at the specials. I'm telling you folks, don't waste your money. 5-guys was better than this. read more

Found this place by searching Italian restaurants on Open Table. Made a good choice by going with this restaurant. I gave 3 out of 4 stars because we made reservations and still had to sit and wait for 15 minutes. Also when we ordered our entrees, we order a pizza to go for when we finished our meals and the waiter forgot about it, so we had to wait another 15 minutes. Understanding his mistake we still left him a 20.00 tip due to the COVID hardships on the restaurant businesses. NOW... me and the beautiful wifey LOVED the ambiance and the food that was sooo good I just wanted to dance. You know food is good when you dancing in your chair. I had the veal marsala with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I cleaned my plate and would have licked it but my beautiful wifey would have probably slapped me. The beautiful wifey ordered the chicken parmesan, she would have finished it but we scarfed down a delicious appetizer of thinly sliced wedge eggplant. It was a good experience and we will definitely be back. I would have gave the cook a hug, but that would be frowned upon because of COVID. read more
