First time here at Cafe Roma, and I mist say the place was not bad at all.. when you arrive it looks small but when you walk in there's a second section. The food was great!! I had a samll Ceasr salad, mot cheese sticks and a large combo pizza. Salad was good but the dressing mite need a bit more flavor. The Mod cheese sticks where good and the pizza was asome!! The toppings portions is a good amount and the crust was nice with a slit crunch not saugy. A place in Louisiana and never knew there was a great pizza place. As I matured, I liked to pay my respect to everyone who guided my journey through life, whether I wanted to listen or not, and one of them was one of those people. So, in the latest chapter of my life, I like to honor people. My mom introduced me to, even though she's not with me. On this trip, I visited a friend to restore an antique house. As I drove over the St. Claude Bridge, I began to experience flashbacks of how it used to look. I miss seeing Jackie's tattoo parlor, the sugar refinery, and the marine barracks. Nonetheless, we made plans to go out to lunch and fell into the usual questions of, Where do you wanna go? I don't know? Where do you wanna go? I don't know?. So they decided on Café Roma in Chalmette We drove to Café Roma and were greeted by the entire staff when we walked in. Everyone spoke, even the young lady washing the salad behind the counter. It was nice to see, and it was nice to know that Southern hospitality is not dead. My friend ordered this amazing-looking sandwich, which I can only describe as an Italian po-boy from the 1980s. It was large, juicy, and delicious. I ordered what I thought would be a wrap, coming from California. I wanted fresh vegetables, something small and light. Was I in for a surprise? After placing our order, I looked around and saw that they had several desserts, which said Gendusa's. I wondered if it tasted like anything from Gendusa's Italian Market in Kenner, which has excellent pizza and pasta and serves amazing Italian food. As I was eyeing, I saw a chocolate brownie. I knew I should not eat, but I got it to go, so I didn't need it there. Way to go, but my friend told me that thing will knock you out, spike your sugar, and certainly will. This brownie was big enough for the old New Orleans Saints' defense line, the Dome Patrol. If you know what I'm talking about, Pat swelling. Nonetheless, we received our order promptly and enjoyed the company of the staff, who, I must say, were getting prepared to feed teachers returning to school. I applaud and praise them for taking care of teachers. When I received the bag that the food was prepared in, I realized it was heavy and smelled terrific. I thought my friend had a warm sandwich note, but to my amazement, hers was cold, and mine was fried, which was huge. This thing was huge and fried. It was more like a burrito stuffed to the brim. I took two bites and realized this would be lunch and dinner for the next three days. I'm sorry, the next two days that was the only exaggeration here This is a delicious spot I would visit again and again. The service, the food, and the local environment made this spot worth going to. My hats off to you guys at Café Roma. I could not eat the entire sandwich, and I wanted to let you know it fed at least two of her coworkers on the job site, so it did not go to waste, as for the brownie. I do not know why I still have this bookmarked, and no review written. I work close by so my coworkers and I will occasionally order pickup. That said, I can not speak to dining in the restaurant. I have enjoyed everything I have ever gotten. From salads to calzones to pizzas, neither myself or coworkers have ever had an issue when getting food from here. Ordered the Cajun chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce was clearly not homemade & had no spice / flavor whatsoever. There was chopped up jalapeños and onions just tossed on top.. wasn't even puréed into the sauce or anything. I couldn't taste any type of cheese in the Alfredo sauce. It's been over a year since the last time I was here and I was reminded why. The food quality has gone way down. When my wife and I walked in there was only 2 other tables with people. Waitress was very nice, she was quick with everything and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered feta rolls & artichoke dip to start. The rolls came out fast and were pretty good, but you could tell they were store bought frozen but still good. The artichoke was um not good but not bad, it was the first time I ever had artichoke dip that was like soup. It looked and taste like it came out of a big can that came from a bulk warehouse. It came with garlic cheese bread, it was pretty good but nothing great. Then came our meal, I ordered the Roma speciat sandwich with no olives, wife ordered Cajun chicken Alfredo. My sandwich was ok, pretty good taste but very skimpy on the meat should have doubled it then it Would have been awesome. My wife meal no so great, it barely had any chicken, canned jalapeno, no taste Alfredo sauce And Some garlic bread. She didn't want it after tasting it and I agreed after a mouthfull. Waitress said she had the same problem the day before, sure took back to get fixed. About 5 min later came out with same plate just more sauce and more chicken. We added a ton of parmesan cheese and it was ok, wife eat a couple bites and have up. I didn't want to waste so I boxed up and brought home ( i added garlic then it tasted good l my wife decided to get dessert since her meal sucked. I warned her not to but wife over ruled me. Got a tiramisu and we busted out laughing when the waitress placed on table it was frozen rock solid. I took pictures of her using her fork like a chisel. Then the bill came $52 holy crap.I left a nice tip since the waitress was good and we left knowing we will probably never go back. I wonder how much of their food is pre cooked or frozen or how they stay open. I gave 2 stars because I reserve 1 stars for horrible places. read more

So 1st things 1st when I walked in there was only about 7 tables filled so as I waited to be seated the girl behind the salad bar said "where is such and such tell her everyone has problems but get over it and do her job" so then a random person (who later turned out to be my waitress) asked can I help you? When I said I was there to eat she then snapped at me and said "then find a seat" that right there should have been a very clear sign to leave but was not! so then after I sat myself she eventually came over and asked me what I wanted to drink to much surprise she quickly came back with my drink however it took her almost 10 mins to come back to my table to find out what I wanted to eat Now when she finally came back I ordered an order of mozzarella sticks and crawfish pasta which came with a side ceaser salad. I asked the waitress if the salad had chesse on it and she stated no that the chesse was on the table however when she quickly slid the salad on the table it was covered in chesse. When she brought my mozzarella sticks the marinara sauce was hot on the outside of the bowl but the middle of the bowl was ice cold and the actual mozzarella sticks were barely warm to the point the chesse was kinda hard and when the pasta made its way to my table grant it, it was smoking hot but the taste was horrible I literally picked out all the crawfish and ate one bread stick or should I say slice of pizza (because that is how their bread sticks come) now the crazy part the waitress went to the table behind me and apparently the customer asked how big a whole call one was so instead of describing it's size verbally she seriously walked to the table across from me and janked the persons plate from in front them and proceeded to go to the table behind me to tell and show the customer "this is a half of calzone." Then put it back in front of the customer who she took from. If that would have been my food she janked from me I would have lost it on her. To boot the same waitress from the very beginning only came to check on me once but when she brought me the bill for 26.04 she came to my table 4 times to get the bill which I hadn't put any money on yet. My thought is don't come to my table 4 times to get the bill and possibly your tip but can't come to check on me through out my meal. Also to make matters even worse as I was walking out I asked the apparent waitress who was "having problems" what my waitresses name was she looked at me and said "amanda no wait Renée" like she didn't know who she worked with. I think it is seriously ridiculous the whole experience I will never go back it was a complete waste of 26.04 because I will say I didn't leave a tip because I don't think the service I got warrant a tip and I am a waitress myself so I highly believe in great cuter service it is what makes people want to come back and this goes to anyone who works there 1) learn how to greet every single person that walks in the door believe me it goes a long way and it is the beginning of their experience in your restaurant 2) stop discussing inappropriate stuff in front of customers 3) please please learn better customer service check in on your customers amongst other things 4) management please get your staff under control and last but not least 5) please get your kitchen staff better trained because the food was either cold or just down right nasty. And lastly unfortunately I have been in the bathroom with diarrhea since I have left the restaurant.
