i am updating my review to give them 5 stars! Holy heck, what has happened between 2019 and now?! They stepped their Italian game up. Got a new Chef? I dunno! I know they do fun live music every Thursday now. We recently dinned here for the live music and it was so relaxing. Not to mention, this food is on par if not better, then Vincent's. Not to compare necessarily, but generally my standard for great Italian food in the NOLA area is usually Vincents as the baseline. We ordered the aracini and the meatballs and the crab claws as apps! Omg ok, I am not really a fan of aracini, but this, THIS! Ok it is stuffed, and i mean STUFFED, with so much cheese that I felt like I was eating a cheese ball. It was really good and light on the sauce too. I loved those meatballs too, they must mix veal in there because they reminded me of my mothers meatballs. They were so tender and perfect. And so few restaurants offer crab claws anymore and I dont know why?? We leave is South La, there's plenty of crab to make this app. Regardless, this was also amazing and I think this was going to be my favorite, it was my third favorite, number 1 was the aracini. All 3 were fantastic though, don't let me confuse you. Mom got the special which was a soft shell crab with some amazing garlic, butter, heaven sauce. I do not have a picture of the menu to be able to describe what was in the sauce. I did ask the waiter and begged him to tell the chef to keep it on the menu, We ordered the lasagna and the fetuccini with fried veal. I'd say my fav to just ok, it would be that special and the sauce on it and last would be the lasagna. I am so glad to see this place doing so well. I will be back. read more

Everything was so delicious, I can't believe I've never been here before! My family got fettuccine Alfredo with panned chicken, meatballs and chicken parm. All the dishes were so good, and flavorful! Best meatballs I've had in a longgg time. And the sauce! Will be getting the meatballs and spaghetti next time! Would 100% recommend and will definitely return. Nice dinner with my wife. The Easter brought fresh hot Italian bread before taking our order. Started off with the mozzarella caprese salad that we shared. I had the chef's daily special of shrimp ravioli with a half dozen fried shrimp. The sauce was delicious. My wife had the limone chicken over angel hair pasta in a lemon butter sauce. She loved it. Both dishes were more than we could eat in one sitting so we have lunch for tomorrow. The waiter was great (we had asked for him). I was at Fausto's for a major event. We had a specific reservation time to accommodate the spectrum of ages that was attending and requested a private room. We arrived on time, seated in the main room instead. We waited over an hour for the meal to be served. Some of the meals were wrong but we ate them anyway due to the time. They were not busy on this day. Then they proceeded to had the bill to the guest of honor and not the host. I do not recommend this company with any stars even though this site forces me to do so, and do not plan to return. read more

We've been meaning/wanting to try this place for a while but I was avoiding it because I swear you used to have to call for a reservation. Was happy to see them on Resy and that we were able to get a same day resetting. Inside is very tightly packed. We were glad we were against the wall so that we had a little more space. We wanted wine but they were out of 2 of the ones we first asked for. We started with salads (Cesar and house) and they were both super basic. I got the fettuccine Alfredo and it was basic and bland. The bf got the veal Parmesan and was really happy with it. Their marinara is good and a little sweet. Overall for the price it was ok, but I wouldn't rush back. read more

More impressed the first time. Waited about 30 minutes for a prior reserved table. I do recommend eating earlier as the clientele, which looks like regulars, tend to fill the place up about 7pm or so. Parking is a pain in the behind and it is a small little place, but the food it good and their specialties are often wonderful. Like many restaurants, you have to try a few things as you might find some dishes excel here and are just ok elsewhere, and visa versa. Just remember, make a reservation and get there early. read more

The St. Joseph's Altar was authentic and brought back many happy memories. The stuffed artichokes were delicious. Can't think of anything negative. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the fish Vittorio. It was the best red fish I've ever had. It was topped with crab meat. I ate the entire thing. Amazing masterpiece of great Italian food and meticulous service...a universe away from the sorry excuse for Italian cuisine (or any cuisine) right down the street at poor dahlin' Fury's. So much better than Fury's in every way. The way you know you are having an uncommonly good meal is you hate to see it end. I had simple eggplant parmesan and it was so good, my toes curled. I almost cried as I finished my plate because the taste sensation was over. Coffee and tiramisu was primo. The restaurant was clean and exuded Italian-ness. The only issue (if any) was that it was crowded and sometimes hard to talk without being listened to by another table. It's sometimes hard to hear. However, that was not even an issue for us, because we were able to get into the sales room. read more

We came for the food but bartender/waiter Dan made us feel welcome and well cared for. It was a full house on a Friday night but Dan stopped by our table repeatedly to make sure we had enough bread, our water glasses were filled, and we were served promptly. When asked he made suggestions for the wine, which was reasonably priced and delicious. The Italian food was delicious and authentic in a way that most New Orleans restaurants would hope to be. Dan was good to us and we have returned. The restaurant is popular and the tables fill but it is worth waiting for. read more

If i could give this restaurant half a star i would. the service was horrible and on the racist side and food flavor was subpar. we went here based on a recommendation and were highly disappointed. after we sat down, we weren't greeted, welcomed nothing finally after 20 mins we asked if anyone was coming at all - the waiter finally came and we ordered eggplant parmesan, veal parmesan manicotti. we also started off with the seafood balls which didn't taste anything like seafood and were the worst part of the meal the portions size was average but the flavor was lackluster -- and then the waiter came by and asked us a question that had racist undertones overall - extremely poor service and underwhelming food. i would recommend than no POC visit here if they want to feel comfortable or enjoy their dining experience read more

OMG! We loved our server - Damien - who was steppin' and fetchin' in this very busy lunch time spot. Be prepared to be sitting in close but pleasant quarters. Drinks were kept full, food was served hot and quickly, and check out was painless. These are my memories of this meal: 1. Bread was yummy. 2. House salad dressing is a must and should be bottled and sold. 3. Italian sausage and peppers was amazing and was totally consumed. 4. Grilled Chicken Aglio was fine, but we took it as leftovers so we could finish off number 3 above. 5. A glass of wine and a Bulleit mixed drink were both almost $13 each, but the food prices were reasonable. SO looking forward to our next visit! read more

Service and food were excellent. The place is small but has a very nice ambiance about it. The woodwork, mirrors and murals are a vibe. I had one of the specials. It was a surf and turf of sorts. Veal and shrimp with mushrooms and pine nuts in a garlic lemon sauce. The flavors were new to me and enjoyable. The shrimp and veal were cooked perfectly. Crème brûlée was divine. We went there last Friday night and had had reservations for six pm and we were very disappointed. We expect to pay top dollar there because the quality is usually there but it wasn't that night. My fried calamari appetizer was mostly battered up bits and pieces, there was very few pieces of calamari that I could sink my teeth into. My entre was the shrimp scampi and the flavoring just wasn't there. It tasted like something I could've got in a more cafeteria style restaurant. We had a group of four and one of my guests had to return his entrée because it had hair in it. My Wife had the seafood lasagna and she didn't even eat half of it, because it was really dry. This restaurant has been there forever and has a great reputation and we will certainly go back, but if we have an experience like this one it'll be our last time. Too many restaurants get to a point where they think they can just ride by on their reputation. read more

This place is a real hidden gem. The food is great and so is the service and ambiance. There are lots of older locals who hang out here and are obviously frequent flyers they know the staff and the staff seem to know the patrons very well. The waiter I had was excellent, but didn't take much time with you. I could imagine some might find him abrasive, but he isn't he's just busy. Mark my words you will get everything you ask for in a timely manor but probably won't get small talk. Covid-19 update: I'm so glad that my Yelper friend suggested Fausto's for dinner on a random Monday night! It's one of his favorite places (he loves the arancini, anything with the red sauce, tiramisu etc.) and he has very discriminatingly good taste! He called ahead to make sure they had outdoor seating (they have 7 tables outside with fans above) bc we are both taking this pandemic very seriously and don't eat inside of restaurants. Although I must say that I truly appreciate that Fausto's is taking this pandemic very seriously as well. All of the staff were wearing masks including our wonderful and funny waiter, David, and the lovely hostess Kelly (I believe that was her name with the stylish leopard print mask ) who checked on us periodically as well! I witnessed everyone going in and out wearing masks, the sign on the door explaining the mask mandate. I had been to Fausto's once before and remember having such a lovely time. It was a funny story bc I was going to dinner with my cousin's fiancé to plan her proposal to my cousin. She normally picks me up when we all go out to eat so she assumed she would do the same and was at my place at the appointed time. Meanwhile I was coming from my parent's house and running late so I assumed I'd meet her in the restaurant! Oops! The staff at Fausto's were so kind and let me check the dining room to see if she was there. But we figured it out and I explained what happened. Well, the place was packed and I was worried it would take forever for us to get a table bc now we were running really late. But thankfully the staff were accommodating and able to seat us as soon as my cousin's fiancé made it! Phew! Anywho, I digress. I don't remember exactly what I ordered for that first time but I won't ever forget what u ordered this second time around! Omg every dish was so good I had to close my eyes and savor the taste! We started with their warm breadsticks which had Parmesan cheese and a hint of garlic on the outside. My friend commented that he liked the crunchy outside and warm inside! I won't lie, I brought the second batch of breadsticks home, I have no shame! Haha Then we ordered the arancini for an appetizer which can be a meal in itself! Did I mention my friend is Italian American and he raves about the red sauce and I completely agree. It tastes like someone picked organic fresh tomatoes, crushed them gently, seasoned them perfectly and placed it on a plate for you to enjoy! Now I can't even remember the chicken and pasta dish my friend ordered but he said it was perfect and loved how thin the chicken was and so flavorful! I was too busy admiring my soft shell crab and seafood pasta special! I love it when the crab is plated upright like it's going to attack you! Haha the last time I saw a crab this good it was at Mandina's a long time ago and I have not seen it since. Well, this soft shell crab and seafood pasta did not disappoint! The crab was lightly breaded on the outside while retaining the delicious flavor on the inside. And the white sauce on the pasta was so yummy I would say it rivals the red sauce (blasphemy, I know!). Then the Creme de le creme was the tiramisu. Mind you this tiramisu is made in house so you know it had to be good, and it was! My friend was all over Italy last October and I was in Rome the last week in February before everything shut down so we know and remember the amazing Italian food! Fausto's is as close as we can get to that feeling again! And can I say even though we were the only table sitting outside I never felt neglected. Our waiter David who was charming, funny, efficient and ever so patient bc my friend and I were catching up since we saw each other at my Aunt's funeral last month so we took forever to order our food. And even the kind hostess Kelly checked on us in between when David checked on us. I truly appreciate their effort and hospitality. They even let us linger past closing time and were so gracious and kind about it! Looks like Fausto's is in my restaurant rotation! Craving pasta as usual I was like well it doesn't any more pasta than an Italian restaurant right?? Sis and I really felt the Italian vibes as we walked in. The lights were dim and the tables were set with white linen and a real flower. We were greeted by everyone we passed. Our server was a sweet little lady with great knowledge of the menu and good descriptive suggestions. We tried the stuffed mushrooms and a cup bisque for appetizers...the seafood stuffed mushrooms were good but the lemony sauce that it was paired with kinda threw me off. The bisque was tasty, I just needed a bit of salt (personal preference). Sissy ordered the chicken Alfredo and I ordered the chicken Louisiana. Our server raved about how I had chosen one of her favorites from the menu. The serving sizes were nice and so was presentation...but again there just wasn't enough seasoning. I couldn't add enough salt. Good but definitely on the blander side for both of our dishes. If I had a little Tony's I would've been straight! I also realized how much they love lemon because mine had a lemony taste which I didn't expect. What's funny is I ordered the lemoncello for dessert and it could've had a tad more lemon. Lol It was good though, honestly! My sis had the cannoli, it was good and sweet and rich. All in all, good experience minus the lack of salt. read more

Disappointing is how I will describe my experience here. A friend wanted Italian food and called me to meet. I ordered chicken Alfredo, she ordered spaghetti and meatballs. She liked hers. Mine had absolutely no flavor whatsoever and the chicken was thinly sliced and dry. There was almost no Alfredo sauce on the pasta, and what was there was bland. I had to send it back and get the spaghetti. While I was sending it back, my friend asked about Parmesan cheese. They had the pizza parlor type on the table but we wanted grated or something else. The waiter told us they did not have any in the kitchen. So, that made me wonder what was used to make the Alfredo sauce. It really did taste like warm milk. No cap! My experience with the spaghetti was not much better. I was not impressed considering I can make better tasting spaghetti at home. I had some noodles and some tomato sauce with some meatballs that tasted like the frozen kind. If they can't impress with these basic meals, I would not try anything fancy. read more

It was so/so. 1st; parking is VERY scarce. We went beacause someone in our group of 5 goes there all the time and is known. Considering this service was acceptable but nothing special. We received complimentary bread basket with TWO pieces of italian bread. Altho appreciated there were 5 of us. We did ask for more which another 2 came out with our meal. I got a special with shrimp, artichoke hearts and angel hair with lemon butter. Artichoke hearts were marinated & vinegary from a jar, very mushy. Shrimp were jumbo and there were 10 on the plate! Impressed visually but they had that chemical taste. I only ate a couple. I can't explain it, iodine, preservatives, or STP chemical? $26 when you add the salad. Someone got a redfish special with a side of angel hair. The pasta was pretty dry, barely pink like it had been dipped in sauce, put in a bowl and left to dry under heat lamps. He didnt touch it. They had water service replenishing our glasses but the waiter never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything or more drinks until the end to see if we wanted dessert and then chatted up our friend, sucking up for a big tip I assume. The place was packed so reservations are a must. Maybe stick with their traditional italian dishes. read more

This place was A+/100% excellent under Fauso. With the new owner's, I'm still out. Went there last night and the food just seemed off. The pasta sauce was slightly more acidic and the arancini was cold in the middle. The lasagna seemed basically the same but the portion size of the chicken marsala was noticably smaller than it had been. I will give them another shot but I hope the new owners aren't making changes to the food. read more

Went to Fausto's with high expectations as I had done a wine luncheon there and it was fantastic! Started with the soup of the day which was a crawfish/ spinach cream soup. I know, it's not crawfish season and I should have known better, but my expectations got the better of me. The soup would have benefitted from the removal of the crawfish. They were TINY and had been cooking in the soup for a long time as they were a bit fishy and mushy. Can't go wrong with a Caesar salad, right? Not so, unfortunately. It wasn't bad, per se, but it wasn't that good either. I hate store bought croutons! And if these weren't, my apologies. But, they were super dry and hard just like store bought. And, some of the lettuce was icy, i.e. frozen. The entree's are were this meal shined. I had the Fish Vittorio and it was very very good. The one thing that kept it from being spectacular was that it was a bit over cooked. My husband had the veal parmesan, which he enjoyed. I had a small bite and it was very good. Again, a bit over cooked, but still very tasty. Another issue is that the tables are tightly spaced. At one point a waiter walking between our table and the table next to us, knocked off the small light and broke it. I will give them another shot as I do like their marinara sauce, it's not sweet like a lot of Italian restaurants. Maybe they were having an off night. read more

The original Fausto's has been a nice Metairie restaurant for many years. New owners took over recently making us wonder if we still had our nice enjoyable neighborhood Italian eatery. Good news is that the new version of Fausto's is in good hands. The ambiance is much improved with more room inside, an updated bar, and brightened up. Most of the staff is the same. The food was excellent. The prices remain reasonable. The service was great. Our group of six went home full and happy. read more
