    Martini with Blue Cheese Olives

Great place to meet a friend, grab a drink and eat at the bar. Get the martini and hot blue crab dip!

    Chicken Parm

I got the chicken parm and the menu said it had mozzarella cheese and red gravy. I don't think there was any gravy on mine. In the end I was better off because I found the spaghetti sauce to be too sweet for my tastes and didnt eat it. The portion size of the chicken was big. I ordered a side salad and it was delicious altho small for $6. Ice tea was $4. I guess I am still shook by the price of things these days but $38 (with tip) for a Wednesday night dinner is getting out of my comfort zone. I will say service was excellent! Great communication, timing and delivery of food was very appreciated. Food 3.5 out of 5, Service 5 out of 5. Parking is scarce. We went early at 5:30 and got the last spot. We were confused when we walked in because there were only 2 tables with people.

    Chicken Parm $18

Food was decent. Red sauce was 10/10, but the chicken had far too much breading. Also served it with spaghetti noodles instead of the advertised angel hair. The burger was good except there was no seasoning on the patties. It was a smash burger. The fries had a weird texture and were chewy with no salt. The service was 4/5. The waitress knew the menu but waited until our meal was finished to get us a refill on drinks. The ambiance was just okay. It was loud because of patrons and the music. Also, they put butcher paper on the tables, which was really loud when they were removing it to clean after someone left.

Grilled Redfish with crab topping. Lemon butter sauce. Filet both with Brabant potatoes & asparagus.

Everything we ordered was absolutely incredible: 5 Stars - Crab Dip 5 Stars - Stuffed Artichoke 5 Stars - Artichoke Spinach Dip 5 Stars- Spaghetti & Meatballs - These meatballs are HUGE (1 lb each!) and taste just like Nonna's homemade Sicilian meatballs. Ted never orders meatballs at restaurants, but these were AMAZING. 5 Stars - Shrimp & Crab Ravioli - Next level delicious. 5 Stars - Chicken Parmesan - Perfect with angel hair pasta and homemade red sauce. 5 Stars - Lasagna - Rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. And the cannolis... WOW. Fresh, homemade, and the BEST we've ever had. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and on point all night. Service was top notch from start to finish. The atmosphere has a cool speakeasy vibe, and they even have a beautiful upstairs space for weddings, parties, and events. 5 We've eaten a lot of the menu here and have NEVER had a bad meal. GENDUSA'S is our GO-TO for the best Italian food around! If you love Italian food... GO. You'll thank me later.

Great Italian food but not so great pizza…read more Gendusa's is pretty solidly dependable (very) local Italian restaurant in downtown Kenner. It's right on Williams in Rivertown, so there's plenty of parking. It's a popular place, so expect to wait 15-30 minutes most nights. Inside it's a gaudy mess that takes its theming from mafia movies. Hokey and tacky but you're not there for the interior design, so it's fine. It's very family friendly but sometimes too much so in that there are often kids running around playing next to your table, doing splits on the floor, or just banging on stuff and acting up, and since there don't seem to be managers around ever, no one tells the bad kids' bad parents to act right or leave. Food wise it's typical southern Italian food. Good flavor and well cooked. Portions are decent and not out of line with the pricing. A better value than most Italian restaurants for sure. Where Gendusa's repeatedly falls flat though is with their pizza. They try. You can tell they do because they're using high quality ingredients and they don't skimp on toppings. The crust could be better but it's not bad. The sauce has a good flavor but they barely put any of it on the pizza. Even if you ask for heavy sauce the only place you can see any of it is right near the perimeter. Without enough sauce and with a not so flavorful crust, the taste of the pizza is pretty much just that of the toppings. The toppings, though, is where their pizzas really fail. As mentioned above, they do use high quality toppings and they give you lots of them. But, the toppings are never cooked right! They're either all basically raw / uncooked, or if you're lucky, the toppings at the very top will be nicely cooked on the very top surface, but nothing below that very top surface bit of oven exposure is ever done. In fact, every time I've gotten a pizza there, most every topping has been still room temperature even when the rest of the pizza is too hot to eat. Gendusa's clearly know how to cook, but they don't seem to know how to cook pizza. They know how to make a pizza. They just don't know to cook that pizza. My guess is they need to cook their pizzas at a lower temperature for a much longer time...long enough so that every single topping at every level gets fully cooked all the way through...and only then maybe move the pizza over to higher heat to give the crust and such a good finish. Check out the photos below. You can see how the sausage on the very top got nice and done as did the edges of the ham, but the pepperoni and such below is cool to the touch and entirely uncooked. If Gendusa's can fix this, they'll have some solid pizza to go with their great Italian food. I hope they troubleshoot and make improvements.

Even at 6:00 on a Thursday evening it was nice to see quite a few tables occupied but it wasn't packed thankfully. The bar seats were mostly occupied with what looked like regulars so that's always a good sign too. We were seated at a table near the bar and so the bartender was also our waitress. She was also waiting on other tables in the area and for that reason I think she was a bit overextended. She was attentive but always rushing and really no personal service to speak of. We never did get bread plates and didn't have an opportunity to ask for any unfortunately. The breadsticks were brought out first, way before the meal, and weren't anything special. We each ate half of one and no more. My dinner came with a salad so that came out first. Tasty and fresh, and just an everyday side salad. Our meals arrived and at first glance, there just wasn't anything special about them. I'm not sure what I was expecting really, except with the price point I thought there would be a nicer presentation. The eggplant parmesan was cooked nicely but we were never offered any cheese and for lack of a better description, it was like something I would throw together at home, not a restaurant meal. My friend's food did not look appetizing on the plate, again, like a home cooked meal and not restaurant quality. The potato had been in the warming oven for a while it seemed, not fluffy any longer and the salmon was way overcooked and dry. I won't be giving this spot another go. Some folks here seem to like it but it's just not the quality I look for when dining out.

Their lasagna is really tasty as well as their spaghetti and meatballs. They also offer more Italian classics and tasty pizza to boot! Soups are nice and hearty. Service is always friendly and cordial. They offer a really nice selection of wines but nothing on the cocktails side. The ambiance is OK. Not what I would call a chick restaurant. The restaurant could use a little face lift and refreshing. But it is good for families, it is always clean and the service and quality of food makes up for it. It's because of the ambiance that I don't give it 5 stars, but I most say I think they do have the best gravy/marinara in town. It is just perfect!

I would have rather gotten him the 3 meatball appetizer for $6.99. The chicken tenders (2) were clearly from frozen bag... and warmed up in microwave. My kid wouldn't eat them.
