I went to Sophie's with a date, it looked dimly lit from the outside but on the inside was brighter. We got the pesto burrata, Italian flatbread, and chicken parm. The burrata comes out: dreadful, awful, call the Vatican levels of bad. The pesto was the culprit, I know store bought vs house made pesto and this store bought stuff needs to be banished from the establishment. Tasted soapy and overpowered any flavor from the burrata. Then the entrees: the Italian flatbread was pretty good, after I panicked making sure pesto wasn't on it (it wasn't) I really enjoyed the charcuterie characters of this. Then my date tried her chicken parm and said "you have to try this". I take a bite expecting horror; I'm proven wildly wrong. That chicken Parmesan is the greatest in the city limits. I may not hear from the date again, but Sophie's heard from me again. I got their chicken parm once again less than a week later and they proved that lightning can strike twice. So let's unpack Sophie's. And Italian/seafood joint - their specialty? THEY KNOW HOW TO FRY. Their red gravy is pretty solid too. I think they should sway one way or the other, focus on what they are experts at, and make a massive name for themselves perfecting these dishes they are already great at. And please, throw out the pesto. Sophie's SQUEAKS by into 4 star with a 7.95/10. TAKE WHAT YALL ARE GOOD AT AND IMPROVE. I've been back already, I'll be back again. Cheers! read more

The ambiance was very nice, staff and service were excellent. I had a soft shell crab on a bed of pasta with a shrimp and crawfish cream sauce and it was delicious. The crab was large and well seasoned and fried. The pasta and cream sauce complimented the crab. Together it made it a wonderful meal. I'll. E back to try other options. read more

I joined some friends for dinner last night (8/13/2025) and we chose a table in the bar area. Our bartender, Brad, was friendly, attentive, and very helpful. He also took our dinner orders, in addition to serving drinks that were both delicious and reasonably priced. I ordered the Softshell Crab Dinner Special, which was excellent and a great value. So we purposely waited to try this place after it opened to let the crowds kinda wine down, because we knew the building wasn't that spacious, since we had been going there when it was a smokehouse preciously. Husband and I had a baby free night so we said, hey let's go try Sophie's. Let's start off by saying how INCREDIBLY LOUD it was. I'm not talking about just people talking, it was so loud my husband and I couldn't even talk to each other, we had to really raise our voices, to the point it was actually uncomfortable. There's no exaggeration when I say we couldn't even hear ourselves think. My husband said to me at one point, I can hear you better at a concert! On to the food, it was just Ok. My husband got the salmon, which for the price was kinda pathetic. It was a small slither of a piece, no sauce of any kind, 3 pieces of asparagus, which were bigger than the salmon and then some potatoes, which were very dry. My husband isn't one to complain about food, but he said it was very disappointing for the price. There's better Italian restaurants out there. I ended up getting two of the specials. A cup of mushroom soup, which was pretty good. For my meal I ordered the soft shell crab pasta which came with Sophie sauce, which is just a very basic light cream sauce. It's a small portion as like my husband's meal, the batter on the crab was extremely salty, so I picked most of it off. The crab itself was pretty small so there wasn't much meat to it. There ended up being two small bites of meat that were kinda juicy which was a nice little surprise. The sauce needs more seasoning plain and simple. Unfortunately, I dont think this is a place we will go back to. We had high hopes for this place! read more

It was difficult to park and the place was very loud. The staff was great but the food was not very good. There was a good hot crab appetizer and some pretty good onion rings. However, I ordered the pecan fish and it had no flavor at all. I don't think it had even seen salt and pepper. It wasn't crispy at all. I got the chicken parm and the menu said it had mozzarella cheese and red gravy. I don't think there was any gravy on mine. In the end I was better off because I found the spaghetti sauce to be too sweet for my tastes and didnt eat it. The portion size of the chicken was big. I ordered a side salad and it was delicious altho small for $6. Ice tea was $4. I guess I am still shook by the price of things these days but $38 (with tip) for a Wednesday night dinner is getting out of my comfort zone. I will say service was excellent! Great communication, timing and delivery of food was very appreciated. Food 3.5 out of 5, Service 5 out of 5. Parking is scarce. We went early at 5:30 and got the last spot. Food was decent. Red sauce was 10/10, but the chicken had far too much breading. Also served it with spaghetti noodles instead of the advertised angel hair. The burger was good except there was no seasoning on the patties. It was a smash burger. The fries had a weird texture and were chewy with no salt. The service was 4/5. The waitress knew the menu but waited until our meal was finished to get us a refill on drinks. The ambiance was just okay. It was loud because of patrons and the music. This is a great new place in River ridge! The bar is a great place for a date night with your spouse whether you want to sit in the bar or dine in the restaurant. The wine and bourbon selection are fantastic! The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and the food is superb! They off a lot of specials during the week from happy hour daily, discounted wines on Wednesdays to video poker while you wait to pick up your to go order! Went for lunch on a Friday. We shared the burrata with pesto. I had the grilled chicken flatbread and he had the soft shell crab blt. We enjoyed the meal, and had nice service. The restaurant looks newly renovated and welcoming. We will go back and try some of the other menu items. read more

Prices are out of sight. Crabs and crawfish are expensive but shrimp and catfish are not 15 bucks for a flatbread. Good luck staying open in south kenner with economy in the crapper. Got the chance to try Sophie's out tonight for the first time! Everything we had was delicious. The crab dip is a must try, honestly I would get two. We also had the tuna poke appetizer and it was great, if you don't like spice this might not be for you. I ordered the eggplant Sophie and it was very good and was a large enough portion for me to bring home half for later. We went a little after 5 and it definitely had quite the crowd as time went on, but service was quick and everyone was very friendly. Such a great addition to the neighborhood!
