Penne diavola
Adiaha M.

As much as I enjoyed this place on my first visit I can't believe it took me 3 years to get back here. I again got the shrimp and crab pizza that was as good as I remember. Also tried the penne diavola which was delicious! I visited with my mom and we both had sangria. I had the spicy mango and my mom had the berry hibiscus sangria and both were refreshing. I was stuffed but couldn't leave without getting the bread pudding and it didn't disappoint. The candied pecans were the perfect touch. It won't be another 3 years before I return!

Came here for dinner on a friends recommendation and it was delicious. It's very small, only a dozen or so tables but we were seated pretty fast and the service was great. Lots of the food passing by on the way to other tables looked good and they also have a wood fired pizza oven. I would definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try.

Chicken Parmesan. Sooo good!

A co-worker told me about this place. She hit "the nail on the head," with this little gem. I went to have a good pizza. However I did not get pizza. I chose the fried chicken Parmesan. It was awesome. Red gravy is rich with a bit of "twang" which offsets the richness of the cheese. I loved it! My husband had the veal Picatta it was amazin! Service was vey attentive. Ambiance top notch! Elegant yet simple. Airy and vibrant. We will definitely return for that pizza. Off street parking available.

Oxtail pizza

I actually came here because I saw a local influencer post about their oxtail pizza on Instagram. This pizza wasn't listed on the menu or the specials chalkboard but they said it was still available to order for a limited time. We ordered the oxtail pizza, the lamb meatball pizza and a pepperoni pizza. The oxtail pizza actually looked nothing like the pizza I saw online besides the hot sauce and when I showed the influencer who posted it they were also puzzled and said they would reach out to the restaurant to see what was going on. Nevertheless, all the pizzas were good. The lamb meatball was actually probably my favorite one. The crust is really good as well.

Oak Oven in Harahan is like your Italian grandma's cooking--if she had a wood-fired oven and a black belt in pizza-making. Everything was excellent but......the pumpkin and crab bisque was a total game changer. Cozy vibes, top-tier carbs--wear stretchy pants and thank me later.

Spinach Salad not to be confused with the Parmigiano Salad that I actually ordered.

It's hard to write a bad review when you've had so many good experiences everytime before. This review is solely based on the service provided. We walked up and was greeted at the door by the manager. She asked if we were dining in and we said we would like to. She looked at her watch for about 3 seconds longer than she needed to. My brother realizing they were closing in 25 mins says that's ok, we can go somewhere else. She said No No yall come in. We knew what we wanted right away so we ordered immediately. We got a pizza, a small pasta dish and I ordered a salad. The waiter said we are out of romaine we only have arugula and spinach. I said that'll be fine, assuming the intent of the words used was perceived to be a substitution. The pizza comes out followed by the pasta dish. After he passed a few more times I stopped and asked if the salad was coming. he replied you said nevermind. I said no, I said that'll be fine. I had ordered a salad that was to have romaine bacon egg tomato and olives with a Parmigiano dressing. The salad that came out had spinach apples candied pecans raisins feta and a balsamic pepper jelly vinegarette. Needless to say we were highly disappointed in the service. The food except the salad was amazing as it always is. Hopefully the service can improve for next time. We felt rushed the entire time we were there. They tried bussing the table with food still on the plate.

Food is always fresh here. The caesar salad was sooooo delicious. I cleaned the bowl, which was chilled! Love it!! I ordered the paneed veal with fettuccine and asparagus which was also fresh. Complimentary bread and dipping oil sealed the deal with a glass of malbec. Chefs kiss. Small but a clean space.....cool place to stop by for lunch or dinner.

I have had a gift card for this place for like 4 years and finally decided to go check it out. It's quaint and cute. It is in a location that used to be a Popeyes but is redone beautifully. The kitchen is open so you can see the making of the pasta. Service was quick and amazing. The food was delicious. I ordered a pizza to go but indulged in the spinach salad, Fruiti de golfo and shrimp papparadelle via dining in. All ingredients were fresh. This place is great for a date night, lunch date, solid date, etc. I'll be back soon.

Margherita pizza

I love this little hidden gem off of Jefferson highway. A friend and I decided to check this place out on a Tuesday evening for an early dinner! Best decision ever! We did NOT have a reservation, but they were able to get us in. I tried the harvest salad I believe is what it was called and it was refreshing. They have a small and large size, the small salad was split between two people and it was a great portion. For my entree I got the Margherita Pizza just for myself and I had three pieces leftover. For dessert we decided to split the bread pudding with icecream . IT WAS AMAZING! The candied pecans were everything ! Our waiter was attentive, pricing was reasonable and SUPPORT LOCAL! I will be back!

We had a large party and were sat in the back room which happened to be infested with flies topped off with flouresent lighting and no music. The flies were so bad that the container of red peper flakes had about 50 flies swarming inside to point where my 2yr old pointed it out and said "Ewwww bugs!!" We told the waiter of the problem and he said they knew about it and spray once a week but essentially it is what it is. No visit from the manager or anything to make the situation right. I was probably one of the only people who truly enjoyed my meal. Everyone else mentioned the food quality or taste not being the same... or they had flies in their food. The new bathrooms only have 1 stall which is quite a downgrade from the last location. Our server was very nice overall though. Wont be back.

The burrata comes out: dreadful, awful, call the Vatican levels of bad. The pesto was the culprit, I know store bought vs house made pesto and this store bought stuff needs to be banished from the establishment. Tasted soapy and overpowered any flavor from the burrata. Then the entrees: the Italian flatbread was pretty good, after I panicked making sure pesto wasn't on it (it wasn't) I really enjoyed the charcuterie characters of this. Then my date tried her chicken parm and said "you have to try this". I take a bite expecting horror; I'm proven wildly wrong. That chicken Parmesan is the greatest in the city limits. I may not hear from the date again, but Sophie's heard from me again. I got their chicken parm once again less than a week later and they proved that lightning can strike twice. So let's unpack Sophie's. And Italian/seafood joint - their specialty? THEY KNOW HOW TO FRY. Their red gravy is pretty solid too. I think they should sway one way or the other, focus on what they are experts at, and make a massive name for themselves perfecting these dishes they are already great at. And please, throw out the pesto. Sophie's SQUEAKS by into 4 star with a 7.95/10. TAKE WHAT YALL ARE GOOD AT AND IMPROVE. I've been back already, I'll be back again. Cheers!

Had a Heineken Zero and husband had Coke. I ordered the Penne Buratta, husband wanted the traditional Lasagna, and we ordered a small Take & Bake Lasagna Pie pizza. My Penne Burrata was to die for! Bill came with cash and credit card amount on it, which I appreciate. ($67.55 w/tax cash) Check out was quick, and for the amount of food, the pricing was reasonable. We did cook the pizza the next day (suggested not to wait more than 24 hrs) and it was very good. I think next time though I will choose a different flavor. Will return.

Their lasagna is really tasty as well as their spaghetti and meatballs. They also offer more Italian classics and tasty pizza to boot! Soups are nice and hearty. Service is always friendly and cordial. They offer a really nice selection of wines but nothing on the cocktails side. The ambiance is OK. Not what I would call a chick restaurant. The restaurant could use a little face lift and refreshing. But it is good for families, it is always clean and the service and quality of food makes up for it. It's because of the ambiance that I don't give it 5 stars, but I most say I think they do have the best gravy/marinara in town. It is just perfect!
