No wait time for a table. Our server was very pleasant and extremely well mannered. Our food came out timely and was delicious. The lady at the table behind us knocked over her drink - some kind of mimosa. She and her daughter quickly cleaned it up before the server noticed. When he came around to check on her again and ask if she liked her drink, she told him that she actually spilled it so she only got a few sips of it. He told eh the would get her another one and she said no, but he insisted and bright her a new one immediately, and told her he wasn't charging her for that one. This spot is a good breakfast place. The service was good. The bigger issue to me is that I can't believe they have the "cheese based" hollandaise sauce, and no traditional hollandaise? I was close to a three because of that, but everything else was really good. We had pancakes, biscuit and gravy, a breakfast sampler, and the tomato tower. The potatoes were not very warm. I have visited other locations of Brick & Spoon and was excited to try this one. It was fairly empty at 8 am on a Sunday morning, so my group of four was seated quickly. Our waitress was great and instantly brought us our drinks. She also was very helpful with helping me choose a dish, as this location did not have my typical order. I originally ordered the crab cake benny, but they were out of crab cakes, so I went with the bayou benedict per our waitress' recommendation. It was pretty good. The sauce was tasty with veggies that paired nicely with the shrimp and seasonings. Also the potatoes were amazing, so definitely do no skip out on those. My only complaint would be that I ordered my benny on a biscuit, and their biscuits were more dry and very light. I am more used to dense, buttery biscuits, so next time I would just order my benny on regular english muffins. Over all it was a great meal and everyone was happy with their breakfast. It's open y'all! Brick & Spoon finally has its 2nd location open in West Mobile, and I'm thrilled! Hubs and I have visited twice in two weeks! It's so convenient for our breakfast/brunch needs as it's in our neighborhood now, and the food quality is on par and the service is fast and friendly. My faves: Their Cafe beignet app (they have a unique take on beignets and I enjoy it)! Mimosa flight The Creole omelette The American breakfast when I'm feeling basic in the morning! After waiting almost an hour and seeing 2 tables that were seated after us get food before us with still no communication about what was taking so long, we left. No food came out. The manager brought food out and chatted with other customers. Our waitress seemed to be working really hard with not much help. We didn't get our free beignets. I love the Brick & Spoon brand. I believe that this franchise has so much going for it, and I truly want to see it succeed. However, what has happened to this branch restaurant makes me question the commitment the corporate office has to its pledge to always deliver quality food and service. I wrote this review after my latest experience at the restaurant, but held it as a draft for weeks, because I really don't like to give bad reviews. I have given up on this particular restaurant of Brick & Spoon. I first became aware of Brick & Spoon several years ago when my wife and I, along with our daughters tried the first of their restaurants to open in Mobile. We loved it! The staff, menu and food were wonderful. We enjoyed it every time we stopped there for breakfast. Sure it was a long wait, but we never had to wait longer than the hostess had estimated, and many times we waited less than what we were told. The only drawback for us was that the restaurant was so far from our home in West Mobile. We were pleased when the chain announced that it would open a restaurant in West Mobile. But this was just before Covid showed up and ruined the lives and business' of so many, especially those in the food services industry. So this branch was delayed in opening, but we patiently waited, and when it did finally open we were among the first to try it out. The first experience was less than what we expected, long waits to be seated and an even longer wait for service and the food to be served. At least the food was good. So I thought at that time that the long wait must be because the staff is new and eventually they would work out all the issues causing the long waits. A second visit several weeks later revealed much the same experience. But the food was still good enough to warrant another trip there for breakfast. The third visit occurred several months after the restaurant's opening. Surely, I thought, they've gotten all their kinks worked out. I learned with that visit that they had not. Still long waits for customers, but this visit we noticed a considerable drop off in the quality of the food. I vowed then that I would not give this restaurant my business again. But last weekend my youngest was home from school and I had promised her some father daughter time together at breakfast. Unfortunately, against my promise to myself never to give them my business again, we end up again at this disappointing restaurant. Our experience that day proceeded in this way. Hostess told us that the wait time was 25- 30 minutes. Actual time was 55 minutes. I am disabled and wheelchair bound. This seldom presents a problem, because when seating us at every restaurant that I have ever been to the host or hostess will remove a chair at our table so I can roll my wheelchair up to the it. Not here though. Instead the hostess tossed two menus onto the table, said "enjoy your meal," and walked away. Leaving my daughter with the task of removing a chair and then searching for a place to move it to. None of the wait staff offered to assist her, or even to suggest where she could place the chair. Finally she decided to place it behind the chair next to me, where it obstructed traffic between tables, but the staff didn't seem to care, so we didn't either. The first words out of the waitress's mouth was "I don't want you yelling at me when your order shows up, so I am going to warn you that there will be at least a 35 minute delay for you to get your order." I asked my daughter what she wanted to do, and she suggested we stay since we already had an hour invested at this establishment. Because it looked like it would be awhile before our breakfast showed, I suggested that we order an appetizer, The Deviled On The Bayou deviled eggs were beyond disappointing. The eggs were nearly frozen, dried out, hard and tasteless, like eating a rubber tire plug. They had obviously been stored in the refrigerator overnight, or several nights and taken out shortly after we placed the order. The creamed yolk sauce in the center was an ugly dark brown. I have never seen a more pathetic and disappointing appetizer. The only thing about it that was eatable was a freshly fried shrimp that had been placed on top. It was delicious, which is much better than I can say about my main dish. I ordered the Killer Creole Omelet which was dry and tasteless. I have had better omelets at The Waffle House, at half the price. I have nothing to say regarding my daughter's order, the Brioche French Toast. I didn't ask, and she didn't comment, but I judged by the fact that she failed to finish it, that it wasn't to her liking. I rdiscovered the real price of disappointment when our waitress delivered the bill, the only thing served to us that day with alacrity. Corporate Brick & Spoons needs to take over this restaurant before it ruins their reputation. read more

I've heard about this place for years and became more determined to try it when it opened in West Mobile. It's east to get to from Schillenger or Airport Boulevard. The shopping center is immense with plenty of parking in a well maintained parking lot. I was greeted and seated immediately. I was impressed with the modern decor but the booth I was seated must have been made for Hobbits. My legs were cramped between the table bottom and the seat cushion. Mind you I am not a large person. I wasn't sure what to expect and many of the dishes were rather pricey. However I spied a list of Benedicts that I couldn't ignore. It's my favorite breakfast item. This dish is hardly available anywhere in the area. And, unfortunately this one was disappointing. The muffin was warm but not toasted and the taste of raw flour was overwhelming. The Hollandaise was tasteless. But eggs were perfectly poached. It was also disappointing that the potatoes were frozen. For the price they should have been made fresh. The dish was beautiful but I was extremely disappointed in the taste. Service was quick, the waitress was nice, but I was never offered a refill on my coffee and the dishes were not cleaned from the table when the bill was dropped off. I might be back; but it will take some thought first. I should have gone to Cracker Barrel instead. read more

I've given 5 stars, however this comes with a caveat. Everyone experiences those moments that are not "stellar" and my visit the other day was one of those less than stellar. From the long wait for a table, no coffee readily available, egg shells in my omelet, and mixing up the tabs. My visit lasted 2 hours which was much longer than I intended. I've awarded 5 stars because of the lengths the staff went to correct their missteps. This is not my first visit to the west Mobile restaurant. They really do serve good food and work hard to make your meal pleasant. I do recommend logging into their website and checking the wait time and placing your name on the list before you arrive. read more

This review is more of a 3 1/2 star than a 3. We came here for brunch on Tuesday with 10 people. 6 of us sat at a table and 4 at the bar. I noticed it was pretty packed and there was only one server and one bartender. The only other people I saw working were the kitchen staff and a table busser. Once we were seated we had a good amount of time to look over the menu and decide what to eat. I wanted to try so many things because they all sounded really good! I looked to other reviews and saw how good the food looked, but ultimately I decided on the crab cake Benny. I had it over English muffin with a side of breakfast potatoes. You also choose to have it with a biscuit and grits are another side option. Crab cake was delicious and the egg was perfectly poached. The potatoes were crispy and had a good flavor and weren't bland. Other members of my party had shrimp & grits, breakfast tacos, ham & 3 cheese omelette, southwest burger, chicken Florentine benedict, and traditional Benedict. Everyone enjoyed their food and the portions were plentiful! I got to try a bit of the shrimp and grits and they were perfect. The garlic cream sauce and creamy fire roasted corn grits were so yummy. The grits didn't have that "gritty" texture you can sometimes get from grits if they aren't cooked correctly. I'd get that next time if I get the chance to return. I also had a side of conecuh sausage and you honestly can't go wrong with that. The reason it got a 3 1/2 stars and not a 4 is because of management. I don't know if they were short staffed or people called out given it was Fat Tuesday for Mardi Gras, but it needed work. Otherwise, shoutout to both the bartender and the girl who also helped serve us. I didn't get their names, but they were working hard and did the best they could with what they had. Management should've had more people come in to work. The busser and kitchen staff also worked their butts off because although it was packed, we got our food quickly and it was nice and hot. Food and service we received was good. Hope management fixes the issue I stated above. When I visit family again, we shall return if we have time. read more

I just left after waiting 30 mins to be seated and 45 mins for food yet at 45 min mark left having not eaten anything cuz server did not put my order in till 20 mins after I told her my order . Then when I found out I told manger I would wait 10 more mins - I actually waited longer and never was served my food so we left ! Not to mention so many people where given options to sit at bar after I was told that was not a option when I got there . Please don't waste your time at this location. Drive the distance and go to the other Brick & Spoon on airport. Even our waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be here. Awful service. Myself and a group of 3 others came in and we were greeted nicely and sat down immediately, then it went downhill. She asked if we needed a couple more minutes to look at the menu after we placed drink orders and we said yes. Our mistake!! She never came back over to take our order, so I had to get up after about 20 minutes to get her. And no, it wasn't busy. There was only two other tables there at 9am. This should've been a sign. We watched as she sat another party, brought out others food, and walk back up to the front to scroll on her phone. She never looked our way again. Now once the meal was over and we received our checks. Everyone's check had an up charge for every item compared to the menu prices. Though it was just $1, no big deal... until the pitcher of mimosas was listed as $20 and we got charged $30 for it. When I asked the waitress, she was surprised (because she does not set the prices so it's not her fault), but she said "Oh! We just changed it 3 days ago?!" Wouldn't that have been nice to mention when we placed the order instead of saying "oh yes the pitcher is much cheaper than ordering individual drinks". She then followed up by asking her manager maybe? I'm not sure. She came back to say "yeah she said she's not changing it." Terrible management here. As a response to my surprise look, she did say she'd try to take off $5 which was appreciated. She apologized but not until she said "yeah she's going to Office Max right now to get the new menus printed". I'm okay paying the uncharges because COVID-19 has been difficult for restaurants, but this should've been communicated with guests. Especially since all of our menus were paper! On the bright side, the food was a 4/5, Shrimp & Grits had great flavoring but a weird consistency (blended almost like baby food). Hostess is used as bartender so she is not actually seating people correctly. More than half restaurant's tables are open but still a 45 minute wait. Came here today for the first time. Pros: Nice/clean decor, staff and food options/quality. Cons: Couldn't sit outside on the patio because of flies. (Perhaps a screen should be added to prevent this inconvenience). No booster seats for toddler sized chikdren, only high chairs. (Easy fix-offer booster seats). The kids coloring sets did not offer more than two colors and when I asked for the color red, the waitress looked at me oddly and said they didn't have any other colors, but would look. I've ordered this dish from this restaurant before and i don't remember them being this bad, but it was a couple years ago so maybe they've changed the recipe of the dish. The grits were VERY runny, like the consistency of soup. Overly large chunks of peppers and onions made up the majority of the dish, and you had to cut them up to be able to eat. Virtually no flavor to the dish either, just overall disappointing. I also had a salted caramel cold brew, which was okay, but don't feel that it justified the price of $9. Maybe I'm spoiled with the shrimp & grits from Another Broken Egg, we just didn't feel like driving all the way to Fairhope when this place is right around the corner from us.
