    Starting with a Bloody Mary

This spot stays packed for good reason, Fantastic food, welcoming environment and the feeling that your treating yourself special! Although you get unique, well thought out offerings, the cost is very reasonable. The full menu, breakfast, brunch and lunch are available all the time. I had the seafood Benedict and had to refrain from devouring the entire thing. So good! My poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the hash browns were very well seasoned with a little kick. The Monte Crisco looked fantastic too but that is not all! We've already made plans to make brunch a regular occurrence after having that meal :0) For those of you that like a little alcohol with your weekend brunch. Mimosas and Bloody Mary's are there for the asking. I did, of course, try the Bloody Mary and loved it. Last words, this should be your next Sunday's destination!

One thing about Spot of Tea is their consistent in food and service. Depending when you come and what time I'd the year, you may have a wait but it's worth it. It's across the beautiful cathedral square so you can't sit in the park while you wait and people watch. We tried the mimosa flights today and it was very good. I had the seafood Benedict and my husband had the bananas foster with a side of grits. We appreciate a crispy bacon and creamy cheese grits. We had to wait a bit as they 2 parties of 16. With it being by the cathedral, they were folks coming in from church. Nonetheless, the service is good and I was enjoying their strawberry iced tea refills.

First visit to this restaurant and we went here for breakfast. I have been wanting to come here for a long time and try their Bananas Foster French Toast and today I finally did. And what a delicious dish it was! Sure it was sweet, but not overly sweet. It also comes with a side, which I went with the bacon and the saltiness balanced out the sweet quite nicely. Service was great and the meal was to our table steaming hot and only about 5 minutes after ordering it.

In town for a concert and had breakfast here. Absolutely delicious. Could not decide between the eggs cathedral or the seafood eggs Benedict, so we each got one and tasted each other's. And then to end this amazing brunch we had some beignets with banana Foster sauce......crazy good. We said outside and enjoyed the music from the Saturday's farmer's market across the street. Finally, I forgot our newly tattooed server's name but he was attentive, friendly and great with his recommendations. Definitely will be back.

First of all, know that if you go on a weekend, there will be a wait. I knew that ahead of time so nbd. The atmosphere inside is little too crowded for me. It's nice to have an open area, but the trouble is that it gets loud, and my table had trouble carrying on conversation due to the noise level around us. (That being said, this was a busy weekend, so not sure how true this is for other times.) The food was pretty tasty, I had the Eggs Benedict, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The hollandaise sauce was so good we asked for extra on the side! The only thing that was slightly disappointing were the hash-browns (diced potatoes). They were soft and didn't have much seasoning on them, I'd personally prefer them a little crispier. Overall, I enjoyed Spot of Tea, but it's not my favorite breakfast/brunch spot.

Mobile, Alabama The state is getting ready for Mardi Gras (2/15/23) Stopped in town to get some eats and we were so happy. Check out Spot of Tea for their Eggs Cathedral - Grilled English muffin topped with a crab cake, scrambled eggs & our house seafood sauce made with blackened grouper, crawfish, & Gulf waters jumbo shrimp. Served with our new crispy cubed hash browns. You can pick toast or a waffle stick, they called it. We added coffee, extra hash browns and grits! The hash browns were perfectly crispy on the outside and velvety soft in the inside. Grits were nice and creamy! Yum! Not ever place makes them taste good, but this, I would order again! Lots of indoor/outdoor seating and the staff was quick.

My sister's favorite place in mobile to eat! I didn't think much of it at first but after the meal. Yep. It's worth the hype! Our server was a little disconnected and couldn't care less to take care of us. But the hostess and the cashier were very nice and friendly. We all got different dishes. I got the cajin grits, so yummy Bathrooms not very clean, but I'd blame them on the customers.

It was Saturday 10 OCT 2020, and we were having a weekend getaway from New Orleans in the great city of Mobile. We had a busy day planned and were looking for a good breakfast spot close to our downtown hotel (Battle House Renaissance). We are always looking for new places to try and a quick Yelp search revealed Spot of Tea. The desk manager at the hotel confirmed it was a good place to eat so we decided to give it a try. Kudos to Spot of Tea for the complimentary strawberry tea for checking in on Yelp. (We gave the tea to my nephew; therefore, I didn't get to sample it). We arrived shortly after 9 AM and the place started to get crowded shortly after our arrival. COVID-19 social distancing was still in effect and the restaurant was using disposable plates and utensils; however, the experience was still A-Okay. I ordered an egg white veggie omelette with an extra (4th) egg white. The omelette was solid, but I would have preferred my veggies not to be chopped so finely. Still it was good to go. I had the opportunity to sample my son's Belgian waffles and they were pretty solid too. I was so hungry, that I barely noticed what my wife had for breakfast. All I remember is that she let me sample it and it was pretty darn good. Kudos to Spot of Tea for the complimentary strawberry tea for checking in on Yelp. We gave the tea to my nephew; therefore, I didn't get to sample it. Perhaps next time. Our server Heather was spot on and kept our coffees and iced teas filled. Looking forward to trying this place again once we defeat COVID-19!

I would call this a family-friendly version of Waffle House. A Spot of Tea sits right across from Cathedral Park. If you eat outside you will get a feeling that everyone in this city knows each other. When my girlfriend and I sat outside and were serenaded by live music which added a fun vibe to the whole experience. Although the utensils were not the cleanest the Eggs Cathedral (their best selling dish) tasted amazing. The Cajun seasoning made us feel like we were in New Orleans. We definitely will come back some day.

I really wanted to love this place. We're building a waterfront home near downtown Mobile and love the downtown area. This is a cute spot across the street from a park. We brought our pup and sat outside for breakfast. All great there. I asked the waiter if the shrimp and grits was gluten free and he replied with, "probably not." I asked him if he could check and he said, "Nothing on the menu is gluten free except for the salad." Hmm...last I checked bacon and eggs don't contain gluten. That's where it was left, so I was left to figure it out on my own. The food was just terrible. Everything was prepackaged Sysco crap. The poached eggs were horrendous and not poached. Hubby's omelette was a frozen pre made egg pocket that was then stuffed. Rubbery. We won't be back. Too many great places to eat downtown to settle for this mediocrity.

Long line with sad results. Overarching theme: everything made with local tap water do have beach/sea water taste. The Banana Foster French toast : the French toast was crusty & dried with a off taste. The dish was unbalanced and overly sweet; really sweet. Monte Cristo - Think ham grilled cheese made with French Bread. This was "a swing and a miss". The rest of average; go for the long wait and conversation. Not the cooking.

We stopped for breakfast based off a friend's recommendation. They were right! This place was great. We had wonderful service and our breakfasts were tasty. Highly recommend! Check this place out!

I don't know if they take reservations. We just got our name added to the list when we got there. Yes they have Mimosas but not sure about other things. Enjoy

I am so thankful for the wonderful breakfast. I was able to spoil my mom and that was something I rarely get to do. It is our first trip to Mobile and we will be back. It's been a hard year as my grandma, my mom's mom passed away almost a year ago… Read more

Our server came over and asked what we wanted to drink and immediately wanted to take our order. We asked for a minute or two. Waters came and she disappeared for over 8 minutes. A table of six, appeared to be construction workers, were sat by us. Our server immediately attended to them and we had to wave her back to us. She got their waters and coffee and then came to take our order. We ordered the crawfish omelette which was a seasonal special on the small addendum menu. She curtly advised us it was "out", "we don't have anymore." At that point we were DONE and left. Therefore we cannot critique the food. I was in the food service industry running a catering company for 10 years. If a SPECIAL is out at 8:30 am I believe it is the servers job to let the customer know before they pour over the menu to make a choice. At that point we had our minds made up for the crawfish omelette and didn't want to start over in our selection. I know this is a very popular spot in Mobile and we were disappointed we didn't get to try the food. However, our servers demeanor didn't make us feel welcome and want to stay.

For instance, advised that my daughter was shy when the kid hesitated to order one day, the barista brightened up even more and put the girl at ease. Whether their coffee is good or not is completely subjective. I think it's good overall, but it might not be my first choice in town. But it's made with care, and as mentioned, roasted in house. Its popularity speaks to its quality. They also have a very good selection of pastries and other goodies to accompany your coffee, including a Mobile institution--cheesecake from a local company called Cotton Blues. The only gripe I have about Carpe Diem is their seating setup. There simply isn't enough of it. That said, I don't know how they could use the space more efficiently, since the cafe is small as it is. I prefer more private seating, which in other coffee houses I've been to has been accomplished with the judicious use of plants or high-backed chairs. The biggest component of the crowded seating is due to students from Springhill College across the street. Today, for instance, my husband and I were unable to find any seating at all. Even on the days when we can find seating, being entirely surrounded by people working quietly on their laptops feels awkward and lends a library-like feel to the atmosphere. It feels rude to have a conversation at a regular level. I feel like I'm intruding. I don't know how a coffee shop should handle this conundrum, as it's really not good business practice to limit customers' time while there, or to turn away clientele, even in an attempt to please all of their customers. There is already a back room which seems to be an unofficial space dedicated to students, but the overflow still takes up much of the cafe. That said, I enjoy Carpe Diem and going there is a nice little treat. I would definitely recommend it.
