Flatbread
Caroline C.

My party of four walked in without a reservation and where quickly seated (and then reseated, because we didn't want a high top). Our server was very attentive, and the ambiance was great. There was probably music in the background, but it wasn't so loud that I couldn't have a conversation with the people at my table. The food was good, everyone was happy with what they got. I was pleased to learn about Survivalist Cider - I had no idea that there was a local cider company so close to me.

Monday is trivia night and gets packed early One of the best whiskey sours ever had Old fashioned is good but basic Corn dip- great flavor, slight spice but really good. Creamy and crunchy Flatbread- good flavor. Sauce is a little sweet Crab Rangoon dip. So good. Very creamy and good crab flavor. Salmon sliders. Huge chunk of salmon. Very tender with a slight crispy crunch outside. Pairs perfect with the thick cut bacon and the pepper flavor of the arugula

Salmon sliders and a house salad. (There's a $2 upcharge if you replace your fries with salad; either field greens or Caesar.)

I almost always read Yelp reviews. Even with a personal recommendation I'm known to check the consensus on Yelp. Drawn by perfect weather and a charming, shaded patio we headed into Brick & Brew without knowing anything about it. After placing our order, we sat. And sat. It took awhile. "Ehh, should've gone elsewhere," I said to T. But -- as the saying goes -- 'good things come to those who wait.' And lunch was delicious! Everything is prepared-to-order. Their homemade ranch dressing with a hint of dill, is perhaps the best I've had. While my salmon sliders didn't photograph well -- I should've taken off the top bun -- they were great. Prepared a tad more done than requested, the fish was nicely seasoned and topped with pepper bacon, red pepper aioli and a slice of beefsteak tomato. My husband's ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. There was a slathering of bbq sauce on top which possibly would have been better in a ramekin, but T was pleased with things just as they were. Even his hush puppies -- potentially greasy -- were crisp and perfect. His only complaint was the coleslaw which he said lacked even a light dressing. Brick & Brew sells a range of craft beer and wine. The merlot I ordered was rich and delicious; the pour was generous. The staff, even those not waiting on us, were friendly and helpful. While on line for the bathroom -- there are only two singles -- the fellow behind me mentioned that this restaurant is part of a chain. One would never know it!

Smokey Rauchbier and Farmhouse Saison
Grant S.

We found ourselves in need of an early dinner downtown Media and returned to Brick & Brew after a several year hiatus. We are so glad we went back because it was beyond our expectations. First of all, we were greeted warmly by the hostess and then the bartender. We sat at the bar because we were eager to get straight to eating and drinking. Second, the drink menu is extensive and fantastic. We started with a Smokey Rauchbier and a Farmhouse Saison. Both were delicious and local! Next I tried the Ellsworth cocktail with butterfly tea and gin. It was scrumptious! Next we ordered food and loved everything we got. I ordered the shrimp katsu sandwich and it was soooooo good! I had never had anything like it, but the crisp flakey patty was so full of flavor, especially with the chipotle mayo. Yum! Plus the fries were bursting with salty deliciousness. My husband got the friend chicken sandwich and he loved the flavors, texture, and the large portions. Prices were great, the ambiance was a rustic, yet chic, upscale pub, and everything was clean. The decor was almost steampunk. Very cool. The single stall bathrooms were clean and decorated with old-time comics wall paper. Truly a fun and creative ambiance! We look forward to returning to Brick & Brew for future visits. There were so many other menu items we wanted to try...so we'll be back.

Appetizers were delicious, entrees were sub par. Very noisy and a lot of foot traffic around our table.

'Oven fried' wings (DO NOT ORDER)
Shanel S.

The server Julez was great. Upbeat, knowledgeable about the beers and it helped because the light skinned wings they served us were . Do not, I repeat, do NOT order the 'oven fried' wings. Pic below. Julez explained new cook and this is a new item. In my head "as a cook, these light skinned raw looking wings, you would eat?! The Lancaster county milk stout was delicious, the Ahi lettuce wraps were Eh OK and the burger was average. The wraps totaled half a piece of fish. Probably exactly a serving size of weighed out. Nothing special. They could've did it better as a bowl. I've had better food in Media at Spasso (across street) and another place I forget the name that is maybe a block away, pizza place. Come here for game day, beer and people watching. Go elsewhere for food. Even the fries were soggy-ish.

Espresso martini

Stopped in for their new happy hour. They have a few drink specials and limited food specials - just wings and pretzels. But they have a reasonably priced menu all around! Drinks: Espresso martini is spot on. The QR code for the beer draft menu isn't easily accessible but you can ask for a printed version. Food: best chicken sandwich ever. Juicy, crispy, tangy with the slaw and spicy mayo. Gnocchi special was also great - homemade, light pillowy gnocchi in a creamy but not overly heavy sauce. I love that they always have rotating specials. Service is really attentive as well.

Fried Pickles

Tldr: Greasy. After our hike in the area, we grabbed two indoor seats quickly. They have excellent indoor and outdoor seating which is both upscale-feeling and comfortable. Our servers were nice, and the food came out pretty quickly. Pretty nice selection of beer here, but I still felt like our money would have been better spent elsewhere. Fried Pickles: The theme for this review is greasy, which certainly applied to the fried pickles which featured breaded pickle ribbons, accompanied by a garlic chili aioli dip. The ribbons are fun, but they aren't as practical in this application as it seemed like I was mostly just eating greasy breading with interspersed notes of pickle. I think a traditional spear or slice of pickle would have stood up better here. We probably at about half of the dish between us -- would not recommend. Adobo Pork Sandwich: I had really high hopes for this dish as the plating was impeccable. This really looked like a sandwich in a league of its own. It fell short due to two reasons. First, the juices (which would have normally enhanced a dish like this) tasted like grease with chili powder, which soaked into the bread and subsequently diminished every bite. Second, the au jus, was no help as it was more of the same -- made the mistake of dipping my sandwich in the bowl. The mango salsa and feta topping the sandwich was a nice touch, adding a bit of refreshment overall. The fries were also greasy -- ate a little more than half of these before calling it quits. Overall, poor execution, but certainly an interesting menu item to refine. Unfortunately would not recommend in its current condition. Value: 2/5 Quality: 1/5 Quantity: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

We made the mistake of visiting Media when there was some kind of annual race going on. It was really cool to see the community out there running and those cheering the runners on, but that meant all the establishments were full to the gills. We almost left town to find dinner but stopped in here to see if we could snag a table. As luck would have it we were seated right away. Although it was packed full of people we could tell it was a nice restaurant. The decor was well done and looked new. The waitress was running around like crazy but still managed to take our order. There wasn't a lot on the menu we were interested in so we didn't expect much. The beet salad was amazing. We both loved the portions and the vinaigrette was perfect. We also surprisingly enjoyed the pizza (flatbread?) we ordered and ate it all. We asked our waitress about the crowds and she said it's not normally like that, where people just walked in and sat down without being seated. So they were inundated but still did a terrific job. Wow! We were really happy we tried Brick & Brew and would definitely stop in again when we're in the area.

Plenty of paid lot parking the next street over. I believe I paid $4 for 2+ hours on the app or park on the street. We visited this Brick and Brew location a few Times and have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly and attentive. We never felt rushed My son loved his tenders and fries. I got a side order of fries and loved it. My pizza was so tasty!! Definitely will order again. Hubby had the pork chop special which he loved. Lunch was great and we can't wait to return

Speakeasy and Manhattan
Sherri W.

A friend recommended this restaurant a few weeks back so when looking for someplace to grab an early dinner in a Saturday, I looked into the closest location to me. About 10 minutes after 5 is when my partner and I arrived. From the outside you can see it was crowded but upon walking in I was pleasantly surprised that the wait would only be 10 to 15 minutes. They use GoSocial to notify you of when your table is ready and you have 5 minutes to claim your table once they send you a message. The front area where the bar and high top tables are located was still crowded but there were a couple of tables in the back area available. We were seated with a food and drink menu. I ordered the Speakeasy cocktail which comes in a tall glass of deliciousness. I also ordered the Adobo Chili Glazed Wings, the Deviled Eggs, the Philly Cheesesteak Flatbread, and the special bourbon flight (I love that it included a glass of water-drink responsibly). Lastly for dessert, I ordered the drop donuts that included a chocolate raspberry dipping sauce. Yum! Needless to say I brought my appetite with me. Our server Ivy was nice and very attentive. We enjoyed our food and service. I look forward to returning and trying other items on the menu.

Whiskey drinks are very good. The place gets very crowded and loud. The food is ok but tends to be overly salty.

We've been to Departure multiple times and enjoyed the experiences…read more Our first time was a larger group of 8. Minimal feedback. With a large group, it's important to upsell. If there's 8 people, and we order 2 orders of a dish that has a quantity of two pieces in the dish, tell us it has two pieces in it. We would order more at the time. Yes we could have ordered more when it arrives, but let us know, so we can make that decision in realtime which affects our entire order. Staff: Wonderful wonderful! As a restaurant working alum, I see all the hard work that everyone is doing. The small things that make a difference, to larger gestures. The hostesses having table wedges if a table is wobbly. A manager walking around greeting people and asking about their experience. Their kickass drink runner who never spills a drop when the drinks are filled to the very top. And the friendly waitstaff and food runners. Management: Once we were there and it was slammed. But they never missed a beat. However, management walked around and apologized to people for the wait because their online system wasn't working (we honestly didn't even think anything was awry) and comped something for a bunch of tables. Class act! Food: Always excellent. We try something new every time we are there and it never disappoints. FYI try their pasta. Beautiful! Drinks: We always order from their specialty cocktail section and they are always on point.

A very attractive "airport lounge" welcomed us ... the only problem we were not in a rush to catch…read moreour next flight but the small plates kept flying onto our small tight table before we even had enough time to finish what had been placed before us previously much less enjoy a conversation with each other. And, the plates remained once we hurriedly ate the food the "airline" pushed in front of us. The soups were delicious with the French Dip layered with thinly sliced beef (It was called a French Dip after all.) soaking in a rich onion influced broth accompanied by a soaked brioche crouton covered in melty provolone. The Butternut Squash Bisque flavored with asiago was definitely a winner too but before our soup course was 1/2 finished and with our Mediterranean Platter's tabouleh still showing its colors and enough hummus to later lead our waitress to ask if we wanted more pita ... the first entree was added to our crowded table. Not sure where the blame lies for the hurried appearance of plates but we were looking forward to a special evening out ... a birthday dinner choice ... a restaurant specializing in small plate dining should be well accustomed to serving diners in a relaxed manner. Upon their arrival I looked at the Schnitzel Medallions but wanted to enjoy the French Dip soup ... I knew the temperature of the food would be decreasing but the soup was so good. Why in the world would the first plate be served while we were enjoying our soup literally with soup spoons in or hands ... no, I did not hear that our flight was boarding ... we were in no rush but we were being rushed. So, now on the small table were our two soup bowls that we were finishing ... the plate still holding quite a bit of our Mediterranean Platter (We did expect to have some small talk after all it was a birthday celebration so we had leisurely started eating this appetizer.), we had the plates that we were expected to eat off of (Mine still had hummus and tabouleh on it.) and this brand new plate with pork tenderloin and asparagus. Maneuvering food became a needed skill. My dining partner put some schnitzel onto her "eating" plate letting soup cool ... I decided hot soup was more important than hot or even warmish pork so I continued to eat my soup but rushing soup made it less enjoyable. So, I finished my soup squeezing the empty bowl into a limited space on the table ... my "eating plate" was crowded still having hummus on it because I rushed my soup .. my dining partner said "yum the Schnitzel is good" while her soup chilled. I took the serving plate with the remaining Schnitzel and asparagus eating off it since it was the only plate with room. Before I took a bite the sliders arrived further crowding the table. Quickly the Butternut Squash Bisque was finished so that she could eat a hot well maybe warm Crispy Fish Slider ... I was still working on the Schnitzel knowing I was going to eat cold fish. And, as we both kept putting food in our mouths foregoing any conversation the Chicken Primavera arrived and looked picture perfect amidst the crowded table but finally the soup bowls were removed ... there's still hummus and tabloeh from that Mediterranean Platter that we didn't have time to finish and the waitress asks if we would like more pita ... sure ... I had just finished the cold slider and was about to try the chicken primavera. She also then noticed my water glass was almost empty and asked if I wanted a refill ...I did but had been so busy shoving food down my mouth that I just barely noticed I needed water (I actually knew I did but no one ever stopped by to ask.). And, just in case you're wondering... our flight still was not close to taking off from the terminal in this lovely lounge (It really is an attractive restaurant to dine in.) that reminded us of a classic airport lounge but it felt like a hallway fast food eatery. We had come to enjoy a leisurely small plate dinner with good conversation...celebrating a birthday before heading off to the theatre. You might be wondering why there are three stars rather than one. Well, the food was all really tasty. I would say it was delicious even though due to the rush the only food I ate that was hot was my soup. We finally did get back to that Mediterranean Platter and yes, we were given more pita and I wasn't rushed eating it because there was nothing left to be served. Oh, it looks like they have some nice outside seating for warmer days. We skipped the mixed drinks ... they looked really good and other folks seemed to be enjoying themselves.
