Just moved to the general area, and this was our first dinner on the main street in Media. Brick and Brew got pretty solid reviews, so we figured we would try it. First thought walking in on a rainy Saturday around 4:30 was that it was pretty filled for a late afternoon, kinda of off hour between lunch and dinner. Was sat very quickly, and had our app, drinks, and meals ordered fast. Service - Mainly good on service. Waitress got everything correct, and food came fairly quick. Servers were around just enough to make sure we were good, but not too much to the point it got annoying. Only downside was the awkward bus boy who twice appeared and awkwardly asked for our plates or napkins. Kid gotta be a bit more natural. Ambiance - Restaurant is a good size, with medium sized bar and dining room. Only issue i can see is that neither one is particularly big enough to fit the crowd. Unless we came on a random busy day, there wasnt enough room at the bar for the bar crowd, and not enough tables for people sitting to eat. Food - This was honestly where our experience slid down to a 3. Got the crab dip, house burger, and fried chicken sandwich. Crab dip was OK (had much better) and the chips were odd that came with it. Seemed like pita bread, but almost as if they cut each slice in half. Burger was OK but rather flavorless, only flavor was really from the relish. Chicken sandwich was the best part, and was juicy, meaty, and all around good. Fries were average. Overall, not a bad place to go, but not worth the size-able wait you may encounter. Also, they claim the sauce on the table is "house made ketchup", which may be accurate in a culinary sense, but taste exactly like a carolina style bbq sauce. My wife and I have been here many many times and I don't think we have ever had a subpar experience. I was actually thinking of a reason why I might give them 4 stars instead of 5 and I cannot come up with anything. Drinks are very good to excellent. As has been mentioned here previously, the whiskey sour is dynamite. Draught and canned beer selection is above average. You'll be able to get a Two Hearted pint or a Daisy Cutter can. You are likely not going to get the one-off keg from Vermont making its way to select places throughout the Philly area. That is not what this place is trying to be. As a beer nerd, we all need to stop expecting that every bar carry all the hard to find stuff all of the time. Brick & Brew truly does well what it is aiming to do well. And, everything they have put forth is quality and priced fairly. Interesting pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, salads and apps. And, as was mentioned above, plenty to drink. Again, this place is everything you want from a gastropub. If you want four choices of steak, go elsewhere. Definitely recommend. read more

This was my first time at Brick and Brew. During the pandemic, it is required that you eat outside. We called the morning of and got a reservation for 3 from 6:30-8pm. We were seated out on their patio. The staff was great! There were no actual menus to hold. You scan your phone and the menu displays on the phone. My 2 friends got the watermelon margarita while I got the pineapple margarita. They were delicious and strong!! You do not get ripped off with their alcohol. We ordered the pretzels for appetizers and I got the short rib pizza as my entree. I cannot rave enough about the food! Everything was so good and the service was great considering the staff is trying to manage a whole new protocol due to coronavirus. Prices are fair. read more

My favorite one was the short rib pizza they are personal sizes but it will fill you up, also had the prosciutto fries which were really good but could barely see ny prosciutto on it. When you walk in, you're amazed at how beautiful the restaurant is and how much attention they paid to the details. In the area on business. Found the establishment on Yelp and gave it a shot. The pizza was good. The fried pickles I ordered had nice flavor. The beer selection and the cocktails available were the highlight to me (along with the pizza). Sat at the bar to watch the Phillies game while enjoying my meal and drinks. Burgers were well done, which was dissatisfying, we could not hear one another with the noise level being so loud, the server realized we were not pleased with our food and had the manager come over, but we still paid 25$ for two shitty, over cooked burgers. The best thing about this establishment is the beer menu. Decent craft beers, but the kitchen staff does not know beef temperatures or does not care when cooking. I was offended when I asked a front of the house employee if I could get ketchup with my burger. He responded while walking by briskly, "the house made ketchup is on your table." Which I was aware of and didn't care for, hence why I asked in the first place. Then I asked if I could get Heinz tomato ketchup to clarify. He didn't verbally respond but he did come back with a medicine cup type of looking container of traditional ketchup. He could have just said "sure" as his job is to keep customers happy. I went to lunch with a friend on a Friday at noon. When we first walked in there weren't many people there. Within minutes the place had filled up. The reason why I wanted to dine here was because I always see it packed. It's packed because of the alcohol, not for a memorable, delicious entree worth coming back for. I have no clue why they landed the name Brick and Brew because there is a higher emphasis of whiskey, on the menu and for the decor theme of the restaurant. Brick and brew is NOTHING special. If you have been to The Sterling Pig you will see huge similarities between the menus, both having a pizza oven, the pizzas looked horrible, by the way at B&B. Salads and sandwiches... Nothing special. The burger I ordered, I took one bite of and took the rest home for someone else to eat. The fries were nothing​ special and yet they serve a mound of fries with your main item, which ends up looking as the side dish. 2$ up charge for a mixed green salad.... Ridiculous I will only go back to brick and brew with friends if they want to get drinks, and it probably won't be our first option because the noise level sucks. read more

I've eaten here for lunch and dinner around 8 or 10 times. Mostly at the bar with friends but sometimes at a table. The hostess and servers and bar staff have all been quite good and reasonably attentive based on the overall level of customers they are serving at the moment. Food options are surprisingly broad and pretty consistent. Some of our favorites are the duck sliders, the pizzas and the grilled octopus. Minor food quality issues showed up during our last visit with absurdly dry duck and a burned pizza. While I'm sure the server and kitchen would have handled it well had we complained the problems should have been spotted before the food was ever run to our seat. Rotating specials are usually quite good but annoyingly do not have any pricing displayed. As we typically sit at the bar we've had the opportunity to enjoy their drink selection as well. They have a really good variety of draft and bottled/canned craft beer and an impressive variety of liquor available. The bartenders are universally friendly and attentive and are probably the best bar staff in Media or tied with the staff at Azie. The few times we've ordered cocktails they've been reasonably well made and the bartenders have been willing to make somewhat niche cocktails not on the menu upon request. On the downside at the bar, the whisky and bourbon pricing is all over the map and didn't seem to logically map to pricing at other establishments or to per bottle pricing at the liquor store. Brick and brew has become a regular spot for us and in general has been a really solid and consistent experience. I'm hopeful that they continue to improve and iron out the few issues we've observed over our visits. read more

The shooter samplers they offer will water your tastebuds and challenge your palate in new and exciting ways and continuously recreate your craze. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Woah!! I've been dying to try this place for the past month or so & yesterday me & my boyfriend finally stopped in for lunch. The weather was sooo beautiful so I insisted we sit outside on the beautiful little patio! Our server Sean was great, very friendly & patient with us. I was so hungry & definitely needed an appetizer. I opted for the deviled eggs (no shrimp, not into seafood) & the soft pretzels. The deviled eggs were to die for!!! The minute you bite into then you can taste the avocado & the arugula was so fresh & tasty on top! The soft pretzel had just a tad too much salt but it was nice & warm & soft, along with the mustard which had such a great amount of spice in it. For entrees I got the short rib grilled cheese & the boyfriend got the four cheese pizza. My grilled cheese was amazing. So much meat & the bread was toasted perfectly. Our server also brought out their house made ketchup for my fries. It was so tasty I practically drowned my fries in it. My boyfriends pizza was amazing too. I tipped it with some red pepper flakes & it was good to go!! I wanted dessert so bad but we were both so full & didn't even have room to split something! My boyfriend and I stopped in for a late lunch yesterday. First, the decor and ambiance is awesome in this place -- very unique! The service was great; the server was also the bartender, but she managed to be attentive to everyone. The food selection was amazing, quite varied, and it took us a while to decide on what to order. We opted for the crab dip as an appetizer (highly recommend), the prime rib grilled cheese, and the burger of the week, the mushroom Swiss burger. Everything was delivered timely and was fantastic. The best part was the whiskey sour drink we ordered; absolutely delicious, and you couldn't even tell there was whiskey in there! This place is unique. The food menu is limited but that works well for them I think. They always have weekly specials, which they post on their Facebook page - with pictures. They have an amazing cocktail menu and a healthy list of quality scotch and bourbon. They have a wood-fired pizza oven and the pizzas are tasty. They also cook some other dishes in the same oven, like crab dip and Mac and cheese, and they all come out piping hot. I'm particularly fond of the pork belly burnt ends over grits (wow!) and the octopus salad. Everything tastes great and they have a killer craft beer list that turns over regularly and is not all IPAs. Check this place out when in Media on State Street! read more

Brick and Brew is a great spot to relax and have some quality craft beers, unique cocktails, and rustic food. My coworks and I like to grab a table outside on the patio and share appetizers and pizzas after work. My favorite item on the menu is the fried pickles. They are shaved thin with an extremely light and flakey breading and come with a savory aioli. The wood fire pizzas and lobster Mac and Cheese are a must have. The Mac and Cheese comes with big chunks of lobster. The craft beers on tap are constantly rotating and their drink menu is huge. The restaurant fills up QUICK at night, especially on weekends and it is a bummer that they don't take reservations. read more

Have dined here twice and drank here once, and the place lives up to and exceeds the impressive reputation the Haverford locale started. Located in the space that housed the Plumstead Inn for years, it has been redone, and redone well. Hostesses, servers and bartenders are all awesome. All three times have had a manager come up to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Lunched there midweek with my daughter and we had a blast. Beer list is impressive and ever-changing. Bottle and can list is quality. Great, unique and creative cocktails with an impressive wine and whiskey list. Today we started with the pretzel and beer mustard, and while the mustard was a smidge spicy for my daughter (she's three) we annihilated the pretzel, which was delicious. They just changed up to their spring and summer menu, and I was interested in both the fried pickles and the mussels - next time! My daughter had the regular pizza and wolfed down two full slices. I went with a recommendation from our wonderful server, Vicki, and got the jumbo lump crab pizza, with asparagus, truffle cream, red pepper flake-parmesan, and mozzarella. Crust had a nice spicy snap to it, and I crushed the whole pizza. Had a great brew from Levante, a local brewery, and a hard to find Stone Tangerine Express. Both good stuff. We had errands to run otherwise we would have had dessert, but it was a great lunch and we had a blast. Thanks for a great time! I visited brick and brew yesterday with my boyfriend for his birthday! We loved the atmosphere and decor, and it was very covid safe with dividers between each table. We were sat right by the brick oven and we really enjoyed watching the pizzas get made! What really made our experience was our server Mel! The restaurant was very busy and Mel made us feel like we were her only table! She was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Apparently our pizza was taking a little too long to come out, but we didn't even notice because we were chatting it up with Mel, and she apologized and sent the manager over to apologize. My god was this place amazing. Everything and I mean everything was perfect. The atmosphere was great and original, with a trolley type theme to go along with being on state Street. The service was fantastic and the waitress helped us navigate the large menu which at first seemed a bit intimidating, but turns out more then half the menu is alchohol (they have a huge assortment of whiskey). On the alchohol side both the whiskey sour and cider house whiskey were awesome and some of the best cocktails I've ever had. For an appetizer we got the stuffed pinnapple which blew me away with the flavor. Grilled piece of pinnapple with pulled pork, guacamole and house made bbq sauce. The flavors really complimented each other and tasted fantastic. The pulled pork just on its own was perfectly cooked, juicy and seasoned just right. A very unique dish that really took me by surprise. For entrees we ordered the duck sliders, and vegetable panini. Both came with hand cut fries cut in house, with a bottle of there own ketchup that puts ketchup on a whole new level of flavor. The duck sliders were great, a decent amount of meat that was well cooked and seasoned on each one along with cucumbers, carrots and sauce, it was a great choice. I didn't get a chance to taste the panini but the other half said she loved it and tasted great! All in all this place is truly a new landmark on state Street and I only regret not going sooner, will be sure to frequent this place more often for the both the great food and great cocktails read more

I'm just not that impressed with the food. I can't say it's exciting or anything I can't make at home. The prices are ok. The service was fine when she wasn't on her phone. The place was loud and the bar crowded so, not the place for the quiet dinner I hoped for...my companion insisted we try it. I would return to enjoy the fun bar in the afternoon. Drinks were good...in fact, they were very good. I was actually surprised they came to the table so quickly given how busy the bar was. The food took a bit longer than I wanted to wait and needed to be sent back for a bit more heat but, second time around, it is fine. Not a bad experience here but, it wasn't great either. read more

A nice little Gastro-pub that packs a big punch. First, I want to compliment their drink menu. So many options to choose. Countless microbrews and whiskey's make it a little overwhelming at first. But it also gives you a reason to come back. The food was outstanding. Every week the chef offers unique specials that alone are worth popping in for a quick bite to eat. Everything is fresh and the service there is on point. The staff seem to work well as a team. They are always moving and attentive to the guests. The atmosphere is warm. The place is normally packed around dinner time and on. You may have a 20-30 minute wait to be seated. Well worth it in the end. UPDATE: Had to block the owner after he wouldn't stop harassing me through the messenger on Yelp days after posting this review. This is probably one of the most overhyped, yet disappointing restaurants in Media (& Haverford - I have been to both locations a few times each to give fair chances.) The service is always slow, the waitstaff is always rude, and the food is always mediocre. It's not worth the painful evening that you will endure to eat it. I do not recommend this restaurant, especially in a town that is lined with so many other great choices. If you bring an issue to the attention of the manager, you will be met with a very rude and unwelcoming attitude, as well as no help in the situation (whether it be a seating, food, or staff issue). You must have to know the right people to be "allowed" to sit outside. And don't plan on talking to whoever you're with because the noise level is always deafening. I've ALWAYS wanted a place like this to call MY place. Well, I've finally found it! The food is fantastic, the bar tenders, Carla, Mallori ,Steve, and Joe,the servers Helen, Bob (Billy Joe Armstrong), and the "Hostess with the Mostest Katie make me feel like a long time friend, EVERY time I walk through the door. This is, hands down, the best place for a beer/whiskey in Media. It is one of the highlights of my week. I count down to Friday, just to get to my bar and my friends. Those girls make my week.
