They ate some, but weren't a fan. Its a personal preference, I guess. While the hubs and I enjoyed our sandwiches, we both said it didn't "hit" like other locations (we prefer Trainyards). We also giggled at how tiny the pickle spear was. It was a sliver of a sliver, of a sliver, if you get what I mean. It showed up much larger in my photo. For just under 40 bucks with a bag of chips and 2 milks, it's not cheap. Restaurant was large, lighting was dim and relaxing. Customer service was fine and our order was brought to our table which was a nice touch. Gender shared bathrooms were not bad, but could have used a mop. There is also a drive thru on site.

But here's my grief or beef, if you will: Sometimes we go to this shop because of their advertising. Today was just such a case. They advertised sockeye salmon in tins for 2 for $5.00. Hubby went to the shop to get it a few days ago when the ad first came out. None in stock. So today we went back, presuming that they've had time to receive a new shipment, but that was not the case. And unfortunately, due to COVID, they can't give out raincheck vouchers to come back later to get the same price (this one was a significant savings, too). Maybe it was the clerk's attitude? Maybe I'm getting old!! So, Metro store's first "ding". Sorry!! The fish counter manager is still excellent! Will definitely go back. Oh, part 2: we ordered a pizza for $10.00 and a calzone, both made on site. The calzone was huge! The breading was thick enough to hold things together and not fall apart. The stuffing was not thick enough. Maybe this was a good thing, as it didn't drool sauce and filling all down my face as I ate! I liked the breading better than the filling. There was too much breading and not enough filling IMHO. The pizza was 2.5 out of 5. The price was right on both of these items, that's for sure!

Prices tend to be on the expensive side especially when buying a prime cut of steak but the meat is top quality, so give them a try. I'm sure you'll be pleased. Also inside is Vera's Burgers. One of the best hamburgers in Ottawa. My buddy Brian and I go there several times a year and enjoy the great food. I'm upset that they stopped selling Coke in the glass bottles. I bought a marinated flank steak that was amazing on the BBQ tonight. They also carry some great sauces, including my favourite Rufus and Teague Blazing Hot sauce. You can buy frozen pies from The Big Apple, which are the best pies around. They have a burger shack inside....sadly I was too early. Some other time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the boss a really good man. This was a great discovery and I will happily drive the 25 km to get there. Very highly recommended.

Although I didn't make it out there until well after they opened, lol. They opened November 4, 2023 and I made it there in March of 2024. They brew your tea when you order it, which is in contrast to most bubble tea places that brew the tea in bulk for the day. So it takes a bit longer for your drink, but you can taste the difference. I got the green tea ($5.95) and added mango flavour (additional $1) and tapioca pearls (another additional $1). I got it with no added sugar and less ice. The drink was plenty sweet due to the mango flavour and the pearls. I loved the distinct green tea flavour. The mango flavour was on the subtle side though. The tapioca pearls were chewy and springy and they were very generous with the amount. The inside of the shop is beautiful. Very Instagramable. There are a few seats inside. Service was pleasant. Chicha San Chen is co-located with Banh Mi Girl. Lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot. (36)

The store has a nice vibe with lots of seasonal décor and unique gift selections. Everything was clean, organized, and easy to browse. The staff were friendly, service was fairly quick, and we really enjoyed the affogato. The ice cream was smooth and creamy and paired perfectly with the espresso. Aside from my Hokkaido ice cream experience in Japan, this has been by far the best and smoothest soft ice cream I have ever had and my second favourite of all time. I also loved that you can DIY the chocolate drizzle to your taste. I was a little reluctant to order other dip cones as I am not a huge fan of sweets, but this ice cream already has me reminiscing about it. It honestly was not overly sweet like typical soft serves, and having so many selections of chocolate is awesome. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.
