Came for breakfast on a late Friday morning, there was a 25 min. wait so we asked to sit at the counter. While the staff was friendly & the food was good, there was no silverware so our breakfast was served with a cheap plastic knife & fork. My husband and I have been here too many times to count, but this was the first place we ate when first visiting Winston-Salem, now that we live here it is our breakfast staple. This restaurant offers a very down home feel and the waiters work together to make sure your dining experience is a great one. Two person or large group dining is welcome here and they have always been able to accommodate us regardless of the size of our party. Breakfast Tine delivers a great experience every time. The food is always hot and fresh and the service is also polite and timely. You typically have to wait a few minutes for a breakfast table but it's not long and we'll worth it. My favorite is the traditional eggs Benedict but this time I tried it with chilled pork loin replacing the Canadian bacon (I know, not so traditional) and it was lip smacking delicious. They always get the eggs perfectly cooked! Of course, as a yankee, I always get a side of corned beef hash that is always more than just a side and a move I usually regret because I stuff myself to a point of being in the fetal position lying on the couch. Wait time around noon on a Sunday was just about 30 mins, but it took 40 mins to get our food! The restaurant looks very nice and clean. The food was good. Just one small issue remains with their biscuits; you cannot eat them without crumbling :) It seems they fixed their hash brown since our last visit; they are much better now. Coffee is good. Our waiter Michael was very nice and courteous. Very solid operation given all the labor challenges these days. A little busy, but not crowded, no wait for table and plenty of other tables open. 10 minutes later, still no service. 2 tables, 1 behind us, 1 off to side wall, had people finish, leave, tables got cleaned, new people sat, orders taken, drinks received, still no service for us at all. 15 minutes now, no service, got up to leave. Stopped at front counter and told them they could have the table back as we'd been there 15 minutes now with no service while others who came after had already gotten their drinks and placed orders. I don't leave comments unless it is really bad. Because I want to warn other people. We have been here 3 times before we finally gave up. Something that happened everytime was that we tried it was whenever we got sat, it took a very long time to get started with the server, no matter who it was. This was everyone of them. We didn't time it but it was a while. Then after you start to get your food, and I do mean start, they bring one person their food. Then, after almost enough time for that person to finish eating, or let it sit there and get cold, they bring another person their's. Then the same thing for the third person. I have never been there with a party bigger than 3, and I defininately won't be trying that one. I got greens one of the 3 times and I swear, I am not exaggerating and there is nothing wrong with me because I ask the person i was with to smell too, the greens smelled like fish somehow. I don't even want to know what would cause that. I sent them back and got something else, don't remember what, and it smelled like fish. They will bring you something that is supposed to some with soup, not bring the soup when the food finally comes out, then not bring the spoon or crackers with the soup. Even if you point out you want it this time. These things have happened everytime we have went, except for the fish thing, and it seems like the servers don't know how to serve properly. Not even the simple things like greetings, timing on food, what goes with what, or even what to do when someone asks you to do it. This last time, after we sat and ordered, I asked to please bring out food out at the same time. Even though I asked, they still brought it out one at a time with enough time everyone could have almost finished their meal before the other one came out. Then when they brought mine to the table, finally, that is when the sever said that had no rolls and asked if I wanted texas toast or a buscuit. NOT when I ordered, when I FINALLY received my food. I only point his out because, come to find out, they quit maked rolls for lunch because they didn't sell enough of them. So, they not only know I could not get a roll when I ordered, but they have known for a while. The reason I know that is because, when I asked for a little money to be taken off of my bill because the price in the menu reflects your bread option, which is roll, buscuit, texas toast, corn bread or whatever else, the server said they had to send the manager out. Well, the manager finally comes out, that took the longest, and offers the same thing. Because of certain personal reasons, I will not eat any of the other things, but I don't need to get into that, I just didn't want that. I said the same thing to the "manager" and asked for a little something off of the bill because of what is on the menu and since I am not getting bread it just needs be a little lower. I even told told the manager, very politely because I have not had an attitude with anyone here ever, that if they could not adjust the price a little then I didn't want the meal because they had known long before we even walked in the door, much let by the time I order, or even when I finally got my food, that I could not have a roll. I asked how long they have been doing that that way, and the honest response was for a long time. But the manager was being sarcastic when it said it, like they have been doing it so long that I should have known. However, that provoked my response of, they should have had something updated on the menu then because the prices reflect the rolls, that I can eat. Not everyone wants any of the other bread options. So, they are relying on people finally getting their food and settling for something else, they didn't expect or want or can even have. I pointed out to the manager that they were about to loose the cost of the meal because they are going to have to take it an just throw it away and I am not going to pay anything and the didn't even take my food, they just walked away. Eventually, the server came and got it. They choose to loose a customer, loose the cost of the food, because they are supposed to throw it away at that point but probably just reserved it and that would explain the fish taste on that previously mentioned meal that didn't make sense, and loose the amount of money that I would have paid rather than just offered to take a dollar off of my meal. I want to clarify, I am not one of those butthole customers. I don't want someone reading this and think I am or oh this guys is just nasty to everybody. I am not. I use to be a server. I make sure not to be like that and never was with anyone at Breakfast Time at any time. Even, with this last situation, the worst thing I had to do is at the end say, "Okay then, just take it." Now on top of that, they have received a bad review and I am going to tell everyone I know, in proper context of course, about my experiences. read more

Have eaten here a few times before, but won't be back after this last time. We were seated, given menus, and then just ignored for 20 minutes. It was so weird how all the employees just avoided eye contact. It was maybe half full in the restaurant, and other customers were being checked on, orders taken, etc. When we finally decided to leave and stood up, they continued ignoring us and just loudly chatted with regulars. Breakfastime is my go to breakfast spot in Winston! They're serving up everything from avocado toast to liver mush (if you're into that sort of thing). Their omelets are large and fluffy and the serving sizes overall are great for the price. We usually find ourselves the morning after in search of a hearty breakfast and some black coffee and this is the place to go. They have multiple locations across Winston and a newer location in Clemmons. They do not take reservations and there is usually a bit of a wait if you go at rush hour. The staff are always friendly and this just feels like the perfect neighborhood diner. I recently went for lunch and their salads were massive! The salad portion was easily 2-3 meals in itself. Wow, we made the mistake of coming here around 10 AM on a Sat morning, and the experience was far removed from our previous visit. It took 30 minutes to get a table, another 45 to get our food, and one member of our party who order a couple of Bacon & Egg Biscuits received his order 30 minutes before the remainder of the table.
