I drive by this place all the time and never realize it was a breakfast restaurant until read reviews. Today decided to check it out. Spacious seating with tables and booths. Not many people there when we arrived around eleven. Later people started coming in. My choice 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits with gravy. And orange juice (a small capped bottle) which I thought was strange and coffee. Service was fine. Food was average where nothing stood out that dazzled me.

I had a very good experience eating at Duke's. It's a typical southern diner, I went for breakfast which was fantastic, and next time hope to do the hot buffet line for lunch. I loved that they had smoked sausage, from my time in Texas I got a taste for sausages like kielbasa for breakfast, and this didn't disappoint. Reasonable prices and great southern service. Very much recommend!

Dropped in for lunch w a friend. Its a neighborhood restaurant frequented by locals. This establishment offers country home style fare. The place is small but they utilize the space well. When you walk in you see the hot food buffet. Expect chicken, fish, or salisbury steak w gravy, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes , veggies and roll. You can order 1 meat and 1 side or one meat and 2 sides. We sat down at a booth and the waitress helped us right away w drinks and menus. She was very friendly and most helpful. She gave us extra time and didn't pressure us to order right away which was helpful since we were having a lengthy conversation before we wanted to eat. When we were finished talking we decided to select food from the hot bar instead of off the menu. There didn't seem to be labels on the foods at the hot bar so I asked the attendant what the procedure was and to tell me what foods were displayed. My friend ordered the country steak and gravy so I decided to do the same thinking that she was more familiar w food at this place than I and it must be good.? I ordered the country steak w gravy, mac and cheese and whipped potatoes. We took our trays back to our table and dug in. Unfortunately the food was meh. Nothing that really was worth recommending. The steak had the right texture and the gravy was good on it but flavor of meat was bland. I love mac and cheese so had my fingers crossed for a creamy delicious side. It was a little more enjoyable but not creamy or cheesy like I appreciate. The mashed potatoes and gravy were ok. Couldn't tell if they came as reconstituted powdered potatoes that had been rehydrated? The food was eatable but lacked seasoning and freshness I was hoping for. Next time I will order a hamburger as I have in the past, that is a better choice and more flavorful.

As usual a great service and some of the best and affordable breakfast in town. Went with my Betterman group and it was the perfect laid back environment to host our breakfast. The place and employees are always very welcoming.

Fried Tenderloin, cabbage, corn, and broccoli casserole

Dukes Restaurant is a staple place for breakfast. At lunch, they offer a cafeteria style lunch bar where you pick one of several meats and either 2 or 3 vegetables. I had the fried tenderloin along with cabbage, corn, and broccoli casserole. The food, while decent, is somewhat on the bland side, but still makes a good lunch stop when you need a meal in a hurry. Watch out for parking at Dukes.....the animal shelter behind the restaurant has painted all of their parking spaces, and and will tow people that park in one of their spaces while eating at Dukes

Double Bacon CB, not a great time of the year for tomatoes

I'd only been here a couple of times, and only for lunch. Each time I chose to go through the small cafeteria line, about the same size as WestTown, there are some very good country cooking items on this line, and there are some daily rotations. But this time I chose to order from the menu (I still prefer table service like that available here), choosing a Double Bacon Cheeseburger with L, T, & M - $7.50 + $1.75 for the bacon! This is a very nice diner style burger - 2 well sized, tasty patties (not overcooked), a nice amount of cheese and bacon, topped with fresh, shredded lettuce and sliced tomato. The only slight down sides was the shredded lettuce (a bit messy to handle on a burger) and the bacon lacked crispness. This burger stacks up very well with the Bacocheese Burger served at TJ's, a sister restaurant just down the street - TJ's costs $9.19. Both of these burgers are in my top echelon of non-chain spots in the area - along with ones at Alex's (my No 1), Bobo's, Joe's Take-out, Midtown Cafe, PB's, and a few more. Service was friendly and attentive, time out of the kitchen was good, but both of these can become a bit problematic at peak periods, and the noisy level increases. Ambiance - 3.5 Food - 4.5 Service - 4 Value - 4.5

Typical "traditional Southern diner" atmosphere. Friendly staff. Menu of breakfast and lunch options offers lots of options but is arranged in a clear and easy to read/follow manner. I got a glass of water, coffee, Croissant French Toast and sausage patties. The French toast was nicely cooked, neither dry nor soggy. Sausage patties looked and tasted as expected/desired. Service was friendly and attentive. Reasonable prices. What's not to like!?

We just wanted a simple breakfast and did not want to wait in line on a Saturday morning so we decided to give Duke's a try. When you walk in side they have a cafeteria style option where you can make your selections and presumably take it to your table or get it to go. We opted to be seated and look at their menu. It is simple and down to the basics, my wife ordered the bacon omelet + avocado with hash browns and toast while I ordered the Champion Burger Sub. Again, this place is no frills but seems to have a solid following. Our food arrived quickly and looked yummy. My wife enjoyed her omelet and I thought the sub was good as well.

Hubby and I stopped by to try a new breakfast place since reviews seemed great. Didn't disappoint. If you want a home cooked comfort no frills or trendy decor good ole humble breakfast spot, this is your place. I got the turkey sausage 2 egg breakfast platter with homemade biscuit, hubby got the same but with smoked sausage. DELICIOUS! The biscuits were the best we ever had. Melt in your mouth and buttery. My eggs over easy were perfectly cooked and the coffee kept coming and it was hot! I love my coffee hot. The waitress was the sweetest lady and very attentive. I wish I got her name. They seem to have a mini cafeteria area with weekday and weekend listed menu. Prices were great and food exceeded expectations.

Stopped in because I read they had a cafeteria sale section for food. However, I went between 8-9 so maybe they don't do that for breakfast or it has stopped because it was there but lunch items were on it. I was greeted by a nice young lady who took my order and was patient when I was looking over the menu. I ordered the daily special with French toast. While I was waiting, I saw lots of people coming and going. I preface this next statement by saying that this did not bother me but I'm mentioning it because it may bother some. And I'm all about preparing people for an experience if they are going to visit based on my view. There was not a lot of diversity of cultures or ages in the restaurant so I did catch customers staring at me because obviously with my young beauty, I can understand how I stood out to them. But the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. When my food came, I checked it and everything looked good. In one of the pictures, you can see the to-go prep station which I loved! Because let me grab the right amount of salt packets and silverware that I need. When I got to work, that food was PERFECTLY seasoned! It didn't need anything. The French toast had too much of some powder (maybe nutmeg) but I don't eat French toast so it didn't bother me. I would definitely go again but I would call and order so I don't have sit and wait (because I'm a morning rusher).

Egg & Cheese biscuit, hash browns & grits. Why go to the Bo or da 'ville when you can get a home cooked breakfast!?

Great spot for breakfast and I want to come back for the veggie plate for lunch. Located right on Country Club Road in Winston, in between Real Q (formerly Little Richard's BBQ) and Jughead's, it is easy to get in and out with plenty of parking. They have added an outside patio with a few tables. A Winston Salem go-to.

The server on this visit was the 5+ stars part of this whole visit, amazingly helpful and positive! The Deets: I got the opportunity to try out Eggies off of Robinhood Road in Winston-Salem as it was the choice of some of my friends to catch a quick Saturday breakfast. Located within The Village of Robinhood shopping area, it was easy to access with plenty of parking within the shopping center. The restaurant is small but quaint, as we entered we got to snag the last open table at that time fairly quickly. Their menu is full of breakfast/brunchy/sandwich/burgers like offerings with plenty of offerings. I went to the "Build Your Own Combos" section of the menu, I'm all about choices. Here, you can choose 2 meats, 1 breakfast side, one bread/carb with eggs any style for $11.50 at the time of this writing. I went with 2 pieces of grilled pork tenderloin, sausage gravy side paired with one of their biscuits (planning on biscuit & gravy, yum!) with some scrambled eggs. Breakfast came out within an acceptable wait for a full house, no longer than anticipated wait. My selections looked great, with the portions being adequate but not overgenerous. Of note, the biscuit was big, fluffy, and exactly what you would expect from a Southern style biscuit. The biscuit combined with their sausage gravy was enjoyable with the scrambled eggs and tenderloin (I am glad I ordered two of them instead of two separate meat selections). With their satisfying coffee, I enjoyed this breakfast stop before the start of a busy day. I come to the best part of my visit to Eggies, the service. Our server was excellent...pleasant, helpful, refills right at the time needed, and so attentive with positivity. I wish I could give 5+ stars for her service, definitely made this visit enjoyable. I really wish Yelp had half stars in many situations and this time is one of them. With 4 stars for food/menu/atmosphere and 5+ stars on service, I really feel that this visit to Eggies was a solid 4.5 star experience.

I have the impression they do Greek food really well but everything else seems mediocre. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was a small portion and lacked flavor. They also initially brought it with brown gravy covering it even though I ordered sausage gravy. Not a big deal, but they told me they had the correct one in the back and would bring it right out. I waited longer than expected for "it's already made," and I'm pretty sure I was lied to and had to wait on a re-fire, which came with the gravy inconspicuously on the side this time, but the service was friendly nonetheless. It was Valentines weekend so we ended up being there while they were quite busy. Still, the wait wasn't terrible, all considered. The French onion soup was delicious, and we were able to get it as a side for only a $2.50 up charge. Worth it! My wife got the turkey meal (not pictured, sorry) and it reminded me exactly of the tom turkey meal I used to get at the diner in NY when I was a growing up! The restaurant is large, bright, and clean though I think it tries to give southern kitchen when really they should probably lean more into the Greek diner vibes. I'll be back to update my review after I've ordered some other options off their menu.
