Taking a break eating, then on the way to Zaydens ballgame.

We just stopped by to eat on a recommendation from my 91 year old grandmother. I love you and thank you grandma Lessie. It was amazing. The service was great, there was no wait time to be seated and the feel of the restaurant was amazing. The food was great, came out hot and fresh just the way we ordered it. It has the down home welcome here type feel and it makes you feel invited and welcome. I recommend trying this restaurant.

Ordered via DoorDash, and loved their breakfast. Portion sizes were slightly too small, which is the reason one star is lacking. Other than that, we enjoyed this. Slightly greasy, but ok for a one off. Their salmon patty's is what won us over, they were delicious. Will like to visit their restaurant next time for the salmon patty's.

2 perfectly soft scrambled eggs, and a lot of crispy bacon.

We stopped in this newest location of the growing Cagney chain yesterday for a late breakfast, and it simply could not have been a better experience - food, service, atmosphere, pricing. We'd eaten several meals here when it was the Olde Orchard Diner, and while we enjoyed those, this dining experience was at an entirely different level. We got there a few minutes before 11 AM, and it was moderately busy, with some folks wrapping up a late breakfast, some beginning an early lunch. We seated ourselves, and were quickly presented menus, and our drink orders were taken. We decided to go for the late breakfast this time out - Alice choosing a special that included a pancake, 2 eggs, and bacon ($5.25), while I went with Country Fried Steak (after confirming it came with traditional white, peppered gravy), 2 eggs over medium, grits, and toast ($6.95). I wanted to try a side of hash browns (they have both the shredded, and the chunky, home fried styles here), and I went with the chunky because the waitress said they would come out nice and crispy. She was really cool, had worked for the Old Orchard Diner for 16 years, and then made the transition here - seems we were in a good place, indeed. The food came out rather quickly, 10 minutes or less, and perfect in every way. The pancake was huge, loaded with flavor, the syrup almost superfluous - the soft scrambled eggs superbly done, with the exact liquidity needed and requested - the bacon amazingly plentiful at these prices - the Country Fried Steak was exactly as expected, the white gravy sinful - the eggs over medium were, indeed, just that - the grits were the kind where you have no need for shrimp, the question never came up - the toast was perfect, the butter already applied - and the hash browns were sublime, no, more than that, it was food for the Gods - real potatoes, crispy as promised! I don't suggest that everyone will have the same experience - tastes vary, experiences are subject to a multitude of variances, expectations are often unfounded & woefully ignorant, and some folks go into a fish house and insist on ordering a steak, cooked well done. This house is local, Southern, diner cuisine at its best - the food, the atmosphere, and the people employed here reflect that - if you expect more, or except less, you are at the wrong place.

Do not eat at cagneys on old Salisbury. Me and my friend went. Our food was burnt and had no taste. The waitress was made aware, but didn't care. I had the Carolina burger which has chili, cheese, onions, slaw and mustard. I first left the slaw and mustard off. When I tasted it, I added those items and it was still gross and burnt. When I looked at the chili, it looked like dog food. Thin, watery with white specs. Chili is what makes the Carolina burger. I told Lewan the owner and he did absolutely nothing to make it right. He didn't volunteer any way to make things right. The best cagneys is at Cloverdale. I advise that you stay away from the old Salisbury rd location. Anytime an owner doesn't care about the prep, ingredients and delivery of your meal, that's not a place that you want to eat at

I stopped in here for a quick bite to eat. I was absolutely satisfied and way too full by the time I left. Luckily, we got there right before the church crowds and were seated immediately. I went with my usual breakfast pick of two eggs - over medium, shredded hashbrowns, sausage patties and toast. However, this time I added gravy to go with my biscuit. The eggs were perfectly cooked. No runny whites but the yolk was slimy goodness for my toast to soak up. The sausage was decent but I wished it would have been a tad spicer. Now, the biscuit. That was the best biscuit I had ever had. So light and fluffy. Perfectly crisp on the outside. Made for holding other perfect foods, like my gravy. *heart flutters* The service was good. Waitresses all interacted with the tables around us with smiles and our coffee and waters were always full! Top notch breakfast experience!

Country fried steak and eggs. Across the table ham and cheese omelet with gravy.

Soooooooo good. Very clean and excellent service. Husband got a ham and cheese omelette and a biscuit with gravy which he loved. It was so big he didn't even finish it all. I ordered country fried steak and eggs which breakfast potatoes. Sooo delish! Country fried steak was not dry like most places I've been and the gravy was very flavorful. The breakfast potatoes (I added onions), I could've eaten 3 plates of! If we're ever this way again, I'd definitely stop.

Thought I'd give the new place a try. Must say super friendly staff. I hadn't been smiled at so much in my life. Sat down, and hot waited on right away. I decided to try the daily special of meatloaf. Typically I don't ask people's opinion of the food I will order and try it. But when it comes to meatloaf it is either pretty good or oh my what was I thinking. The waitress said she didn't know but then said a lot of folks order it. Fine give me the meatloaf. I then eye fried squash a weakness of mine. So I ask for another suggestion as there are a lot of choices and she said tater tots. I saw a picture of Mac and cheese and said that looks good. My food was fairly fast out. Everything was like lava hot. The meatloaf was fairly good. It had flavor and wasn't just meat and onion. The fried squash oh my goodness!!! They need to let them rest a little longer as they were a little too oily at the bottom of the bowl. The Mac and cheese, which typically I am not a fan of, was pretty good. It was creamy, and super cheesy. My biggest complaint would be the service. Very, very friendly. However after my food arrived I didn't see anyone until I was done eating.

My son and I were in Winston-Salem for the International Black Theatre Festival with Visit Winston,…read moreand when I learned we had free time for lunch, one recommendation immediately caught my attention. Between the rave reviews and the beautifully designed space, I knew this would be our stop. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was that the parking lot was on the smaller side, but any concern disappeared the moment we checked in. The hostess greeted us warmly, asked for my license plate so she could validate our parking, and had us seated almost immediately. It was such a thoughtful touch and set the tone for the experience. On the way to our table, I couldn't help but notice the inviting patio, perfect for lingering over lunch on a beautiful day. That said, I had reserved an indoor table, and I'm glad I did. The dining room is intimate, stylish, and effortlessly chic. It's the kind of restaurant that feels equally suited for a catch-up with friends as it does for a date night. The tables are close together, creating a lively atmosphere, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you prefer a little more privacy. Our server, Aundria, made an already wonderful experience even better. She was warm, attentive, and knew the menu inside and out. It was also refreshing to see the entire team working together so seamlessly, with everyone stepping in to help one another throughout the meal. I ordered the lobster roll with shoestring fries, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The lobster was fresh, buttery, and generously portioned, making it one of those dishes I'd happily order again. Before we left, I asked Aundria what she reaches for when she dines there. Without hesitation, she recommended the Korean Beef Bowl, which has already earned a spot on my list for my next visit. As if the experience couldn't have ended on a sweeter note, it started raining just as we were leaving. The hostess grabbed an umbrella and walked me to my car, a simple gesture that perfectly reflected the hospitality we experienced from start to finish. Great food is memorable, but genuine hospitality is what keeps me coming back. This restaurant delivered both, and it's officially earned a place on my list of Winston-Salem favorites.

The "Korean Beef Bowl" came with about a cup of each beef, rice, cucumbers and maybe 1/4th of an avocado for $24. This looked and tasted like a $14 dollar plate at best (seriously, no kimchi even in a Korean bowl?); I left hungry. My wife got the Thai coconut curry, $30 bucks which included an $8 up charge for chicken, in which there were maybe 8 paper thin slices. The curry part was non existent both in volume and in taste. There was barely any sauce, very bland, and it essentially tasted like unseasoned noodles and vegetables. I would gladly come back for a happy hour and enjoy their other drink options and appetizers, but I just cannot justify paying the exorbitant prices for how mediocre the food ultimately was. I wish I had taken a picture of the food to add weight to the review but it was so lackluster looking that it just was not worth photographing in the moment.

There were a lot of interesting sounding cocktails on the menu, but I wasn't feeling super adventurous so I just got a glass of Chardonnay. I also wasn't super hungry so I got the Big Ol' Pretzel with queso (other side choices were brown sugar or mustard) and a Caesar side salad. The pretzel was great. It was salty and had a great texture (and did not have that microwaved chewy texture that you get sometimes)! I do prefer beer cheese to queso but the pretzel was so good it wasn't a huge deal. The side salad was larger than expected. I didn't care for the dressing. It was not a traditional Caesar taste or texture - not creamy, more of a vinaigrette, and gave the salad greens a slimy texture. Our server seemed busy but was pleasant and checked on us and food was served in a timely manner.

When we first walked in, it was busy and we heard the hostess tell the couple in front of us they would need to wait over an hour for a table - Lucky for me my wife made reservations and we were seated immediately! It was a bit on the noisy side but not so bad we couldn't have a conversation. Our servers, Thomas, was fantastic start to finish with good recommendations, attentive service without being overbearing, and a great personality. Good staff make a business shine! We started with glasses of wine and were impressed with how generous they poured. Perhaps it was a visual illusion, but they felt like very large glasses of wine and made it feel like a very good value. They have a good selection of wines to choose from along with a full bar. Appetizer was the Crab Cake Egg Rolls, something I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They're cooked in Beef Tallow which gave a very savory flavor and crispy texture. They were a bit on the oily side but overall flavor was delicious, and I really liked the dipping sauce which was like a very herb-heavy tartar sauce. For entrees, my wife had the Filet and I had a New York Strip. I don't have the words to describe how delicious and perfectly prepared both of these were. I didn't even bother asking for steak sauce because the perfectly tender and seasoned steak didn't need it. Nobody wants to pay high prices for a steak and receive something low quality, and I was thrilled with the quality of the steaks here. Surrounding tables likewise had great looking meals and I overheard them voicing pleasure too. As sides go, the baked potatoes and salads were excellent too. I got the hot bacon vinegarette dressing and was surprised it was actually served quite hot. It had a really rich and slightly tangy flavor that was unique and I really enjoyed on my salad. I have no complaints here and will absolutely be back. Of course it's on the pricey end, but this is the type of establishment you reserve for a special night out, not your average Tuesday night. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

They have some unique styles that I don't think I've had before like a Zwickelbier. They did mention that if I didn't like it they would give me another one but that seemed more wasteful than providing me with a sample. It seems illogical and unnecessary to me that they wouldn't offer it. I think it goes against the purpose of having a tap room. To enjoy and share your craft with people. A lot of trust goes to the patron to decide that they first have to spend money on something that they don't know if they will like. I think it's the antithesis of what breweries should be. The customer service was great. The staff checked on us throughout our meal and made sure we had everything we needed, which I always appreciate. I ordered the Salmon BLT (hold the bacon) on sourdough with a side of sweet potato fries, and oh my goodness it was so good! The portion size was very generous and definitely filling. The herbed mayo tied everything together perfectly it was *chef's kiss*! They also serve the sweet potato fries with a cinnamon butter for dipping, which was good. I also had a Caesar salad. It was exactly what you'd want from a Caesar salad fresh, flavorful, and another generous portion. If you're a fan of salmon and/or sandwiches, I definitely recommend giving this a try. Who knew a salmon sandwich could be this good? I'll definitely be back! There is parking off to the side though, it is very limited. Be prepared to parallel park !

Had a lovely time on a beautiful day with friends. On the host's recommendation we chose to go inside and sit at the bar. I had not been inside before as I usually opt for the outside seating so I was surprised to see that the interior was more roomy than I had imagined. Once we were seated, near the soothing water feature with a Koi pond, our waitress promptly took our drink orders and apologized for any inconvenience if we were waiting for table and service. Once we got our drinks they served us several orders of warm bread with several different butter choices. At that point, we ordered our main menu items. Service was prompt and went smoothly. We didn't have to wait very long for our food to arrive. The food was very good and there were no complaints from our group. I ordered Ahi Tuna salad. It was a large portion w the Tuna perched on top making an appetizing display. It was reasonably priced at $18, in my opinion, as it was a large salad and I wasn't able to eat the whole thing. Our group had a very pleasant, unrushed time at this restaurant and the host was always nearby and happy to answer questions and chat with us. This restaurant is one of the jewels of downtown 4th street. Stop in for a drink or a nice meal, you'll be glad you did.
