We visited on a Sunday evening and they weren't super busy. We place our order and the cashier was polite but didn't seem eager to be there. The place seemed newly renovated and was in good shape but had relatively generic decorations. I opted for the gyro and found it to be pretty good and on par with other Greek restaurants in the area but nothing spectacular. I also had a side or fries which were fine but didn't have a ton of flavor and I found the crust to be off. All in all the food was good but nothing left a lasting impact. If I was craving Greek I could see myself trying them out again. All in allt he food

It's been a few months since I've visited Olive Tree. I was craving a burger but not from a chain restaurant. Off to Olive tree! This is a counter service restaurant and they also give you a buzzer to let you know when to pick up your order. You also clear your own table when finished. I mention all this because their POS system asked for a tip. In instances like this, I don't feel obligated to tip. This is just my personal feeling on our tip culture here in the US. You do what you feel is right for you. Both my husband and I got a 1/4 lb burger. He had cheese on his while I ordered mine without. You can pick your toppings here so don't be shy about asking for what you want. We both asked for Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayo and ketchup. If you like your burger Carolina style they have the chili, and slaw too! A basket of zucchini fries completed our order. We chose to get cups of water for a beverage but they have Pepsi products available in their fountain machine as well as teas. They expanded their dining area some years ago and I like how it's has a mix of tables and booths in both the main and extended areas. The main area was a bit chilly that day but the extended area has a separate cooling/heating system and it was more comfortable for us. Our order was ready in about 10 min. I was impressed with the burger on sight. It was a true 1/4 lb patty, shredded lettuce-my favorite for burgers-and all my requested toppings. It was hot, fresh and made just like I asked. Our zucchini fries were crispy and they give you a bunch so I was definitely full after this meal. I do wish they salted the zucchini fries a bit right out of the fryer though. I need to remember Olive Tree the next time I want a burger. I usually hit up couple places around town for my burger fix if I don't feel like driving very far. This place seems to sneak under my radar too frequently and I need to remind myself how good their food is. I have tried some items that were not to my liking but their menu is pretty diverse and there is definitely something for everyone. They used to have a really good pancake breakfast years ago. The pancakes were delicious and made with cinnamon. We went back and they had changed them completely which was a disappointment. Whenever I revisit a restaurant I enjoy trying things on the menu I haven't had yet. The burger was a very pleasant surprise this time. My previous visit I had a tuna sandwich. It was good and full of tuna but lacked a bit of a vinegar bite in the form of pickles or drizzle of red wine vinegar I was looking for. Not their fault, just my preference. Olive Tree recently opened a second location in Mocksville at a gold club. I hear the menu is expanded over there. Maybe one day I'll take a drive out to check that out.

    Ranch Dressing with the Zucchini

It has been years since I've visited this little deli, and the food did not come close to what I remember from my previous visits! The Fried Zucchini was way over cooked, and tasteless, and even the ranch dressing failed to help. The Gyro was little better - the pita was tough and very chewy, the meat lacked flavor, the tzatziki was thin, and the Gyro was poorly put together. No return visit, for sure!!!!

It's been two years since we've been to the Olive Tree. We were long time regulars but started receiving cold food on a regular basis. The Taco Burrito was a family favorite, but ice cold beans just didn't taste as good as when they are hot. But last night we went in for a burger, and I can't recall ever having one here. They serve a 1/4 pound patty and it felt more like a 1/3 pound... so I'm glad I didn't order the double cheeseburger, it would have been huge. They use a massive sesame seed bun, but don't worry, there's a thick patty that covers 90% of that bun. This burger was juicy, even though it probably started as a frozen patty. It had a ton of condiments, mustard, mayo and ketchup, plus shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles and red onions. This was a solid burger experience and only $5.99, a bargain in the summer of 2024. We enjoyed this with zucchini fries, which are always great, but those will set you back another $6.99 for the large basket. Nice job Olive Tree... maybe I'll try the Burrito again someday soon.

    Ribeye Steak Sub

Counter service restaurant, friendly but not very helpful. I asked for recommendations and the girl at the counter couldn't seem to recommend anything specific. I ordered the traditional beef gyro and it was a little disappointing. The pita bread was very tough and the meat wasn't very tender at all. My husband ordered the ribeye sub. It was very filling and the meat was seasoned well. We shared a side of onion rings and that was the best out of everything we ordered. Very crispy and the ranch was "the good ranch". We visited around 11:45 am and the restaurant was very quiet at that time.

MY OH MY.... This is definitely the most overrated place I've found in Winston on Yelp. The gas station in the town I went to college in, served better food than this. I guess I should start with the 8 dollar spaghetti that was literally just noodles and something that resembled more of a dipping sauce than spaghetti sauce.... it was like they took a bunch of different canned sauces and mixed it with salsa. Very underwhelming. The Gyro was flavorless and dry. They didn't even heat the pita up so it was just hard and dry. The tzatziki sauce was also flavorless with very little dill or cucumber or really any kind of flavor. The cheese sticks were straight from Costco but worse and not warm. Based on how large and diverse their menu is, it seems like they don't make anything fresh and it shows. I don't know what the history of this place is but it seems like it just has a bunch of regulars that don't have very good perspective on food. I was stunned how much we spent on such a mediocre meal.

Great little lunch spot on busy Stratford rd. Huge variety for lunch and dinner. Nicely kept and clean. Order at counter and pick up when they call you kinda place. Went for the chicken souvlaki and fries. Not bad for. $10. Nice soft pita and plenty of lettuce, tomatoes and onions and taziki sauce. And lots of grilled chicken. The fries were awesome too. Hot and crispy. Great family run business. Busy too on a Monday lunch . I was impressed how organized and clean the place is. Has a adequate parking lot too. Nice to run into and grab a quick bite.

You come in, order your food and have a seat. Nice people on the cash register, nice place. All the food we got was very good. Will definitely be back. I suggest they fill up a dinner plate a little bit more with fries, very small portion. Same goes for the fried zukini, just take a dollar extra and make it a nice portion.

Greek omlette. Added peppers and onions for only 20 cents more !

Fanatic food. Amazing prices. You get quality and a good amount of food finally at prices that don't rip you off. Come support the mom and pop shops. So much better than chains. Great breakfast. Going back to try the lunch later ! Friendly service and very clean restaurant

Sure, there are tables and booths scattered about, but otherwise the dining area feels hollow, without comfort or warmth. Credit to the hostess though for quickly getting a spot for me to sit during my visit, and to the waiter that promptly delivered menus. This is largely a selection of breakfast and brunch items with Mexican influences, and I decided to pick the eggs Benedict with smashed avocado. The wait didn't seem to be all that long, though I did empty a glass of refreshment during that time, and the wait staff were not all that prompt to see it refilled. Additional drinks did eventually arrive though, and the food came not long after. Even with the accompanying side of baked apples, the plate seemed scant in its content. And the flavors were pretty bland too, leading me to wish I'd picked something with more to offer, in addition to a dish with more substance. [That said, the omelets I saw on the plates of a neighboring table didn't seem all that large or visually impressive either.] The food didn't taste bad, mind you. I just didn't get enough in amount, in value or in quality to leave me genuinely impressed. Like the decor, the meal felt like it was a half-empty shell, with plenty of room for more. So maybe I'll go back another time and see if some other selection from the menu has more to offer. Otherwise, Eggies feels outclassed by most any other breakfast-focused dining option in the area. If I want simplicity on a plate, I can find it at a wealth of other restaurants with morning hours, and I can probably get more for my money there. And until I find something genuinely special about what's coming from the kitchen here, I don't see my attention or interest being captured by the relatively pedestrian experience I've had here so far.

I opted for the Hot Honey Chicken with Pimento Benedict and wow! I was nervous the pimento cheese would be overpowering, but it wasn't at all! It was a nice, creamy complement to the spicy crispy chicken. The hollandaise cut through some of the richness for a pleasant mellower. Prices are reasonable and our waitress was great! This is a solid restaurant with much to offer in the brunch/breakfast area - an area that has become popular and chic, and it almost always means much will be expensive, usual very expensive considering the less than costly menu ingredients that drive food choices here, and other such brunch spots. Brunch is seen as more than just a meal for some folks who are all into what is trendy, and restaurant are aware of this and prices are raised due to the "experience" element! I have tried several items here including their version of Huevos Rancheros (not a fan of how they make it, pulled pork is a party foul), the Eggs Benedict (decent but over priced for sure, $17 with bacon added), and several Omelette choices, can reach $15. This is obviously a popular spot in downtown Winston, but I find it generally overpriced, loud, and the service is inconsistent. I like a good adventure, but somethings simply are not worth the cost! Note that the prices for individual items are written, very lightly with no $ sign to the right of the item. This is done intentionally to make the customer pay less attention to what they spending. Many restaurants are using some form of this approach!

I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy on a weeknight, but I was obviously wrong as the parking lot was nearly full. We found a spot at the rear of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table near the fireplace. A quick glance around confirmed that the place was jumping, which is good news for any restaurant during the middle of the week. A good balance of menu options from salads, sandwiches, fish, steaks, etc. Expect to pay $20-30 per person and some entrees are ala carte. They appear to have a good selection of wine, beers and cocktails from the long list in the menu. I went with the lasagna; my wife had the fish and chips; and my colleague went with the Beast Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. The temperature of my lasagna could have been a tad hotter, but it wasn't enough of an issue to send it back. I would order it again. Service was good throughout our visit, but I am deducting one star for the noise level. The high ceilings give the restaurant a beautiful lodge look and feel, but they make for a very loud dining experience. The sound level at times was more like a school cafeteria in my opinion. Perhaps a table on the side of the dining room would be quieter where nearby walls could help absorb some of the noise. Bottom line: not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner.

The pancakes were not that good according to my wife, but I didn't have the same opinion, and the coffee was just what I needed that rainy day.

We tried the following mimosas: lavender blueberry, peach mojito, raspberry limeade, midtown…read more(orange), sweet tart, blood orange, Lavendar lemonade. The lavendar drinks were good. I liked blueberry more because you could taste both the blueberry and lavendar, but my fiancé liked the lemonade one more. The sweet tart was just sugar. A bit too sickly sweet for us. The blood orange was okay. Tasted as you'd expect. The midtown was a classic but nothing special. The raspberry limeade was okay. You could taste the raspberry but not so much the limeade. Peach mojito tasted like a peach bellini, so that one was really good - my fiancé's favorite. He ordered the meat and cheese omelette with turkey sausage. It was a lot of meat, maybe even too much. It was more meat than egg. Then, the egg itself was lackluster. It wasn't fluffy either. Cheese was fine. Overall would not get again. But the pancakes were pretty good. It made up for the omelette. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Grits were loose in a good way. You could imagine warming them up later would be fine since they didn't start off so thick. The shrimp was okay. Overcooked but carried the whole dish to be better than it was without it. The bacon bits threw me off for some reason so didn't like that, and the cheese was fine. Overall, wouldn't order the entrees again but will be back for Friday $12 mimosa flight special and try something different to eat.
