Breakfast stop is a good place to grab a decent breakfast. We were satisfied on what we had. The only thing I can critic is that they need to upgrade their tortillas. The tortillas became cold and hard where we couldn't use them anymore with our meal. Other then that I would go back to this place in the future. read more

I stopped in this morning because it is super close to my house, and the reviews were mostly good. On the minus side - no one acknowledged me when I walked in and was just standing there. There wasn't a "seat yourself" sign. I would have just gone to a table bit the empty ones hadn't been cleared. About 7 empty tables waiting to be cleaned. When I was able to get the attention of a waitress, she was super nice and told me to sit anywhere and they'd get it cleaned. Sure enough, I did and they did. The waiter was prompt, the coffee was very good for me (I'm picky and don't appreciate super strong, this was just right for me!). I had a double spinach and mushroom omelette with cheddar and biscuits and gravy (I could have had a meat choice but declined). Very delicious! Not fancy or frivolous, but tasted good! I was there about 9:45, and they were busy. Not slammed, but things were moving. I was just about to have to ask for more coffee when the waiter came over with fresh. Perfect timing :-). My bill was $11 plus tax and I was out by 10:30-ish. Had someone made eye contact with me and not left me standing awkwardly for as long as I did, I would have been happier. It is a breakfast joint - you can tell there are regulars, and I'll definitely plan to come back. As others have said - it is a good place for fast, normal and easy breakfast. They serve lunch until 2... Will have to check lunch out later. I didn't use the restroom, which is how I judge a lot of places for cleanliness... The dining area was reasonably clean. Food is good and reasonably priced. Can eat breakfast for under $6. I do have a concern for anyone who is in a wheelchair that needs to use the ramp. There is only one and if there are cars parked on both sides, you will probably be unable to utilize it. Not sure who came up with the way this is built, but was not thought thru thoroughly!!! Great new find for breakfast! I had the steak ranchero and my husband ordered eggs la Mexicana. Both were delicious with generous portions. Cheerful fast service too. Place really doesn't have any decor and feels very empty. The staff was somewhat nice hut very hurried. My daughter got the French toast and liked it. The hash browns were good though you had to buy them separate, no combo offered. The bathrooms are outside behind the restaurant, kinda sketchy feel. My fried fish was okay but I would not eat it again. All and all, I don't think we'll return. The prices were good if you are looking for a cheaper place to eat. It's not much to look at from the outside with your standard kind of breakfast plates: eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns with a few Mexican twists thrown in. My chorizo and eggs came with a side of salsa (I do appreciate not being charged extra for this) and a tortilla. I asked if I could substitute the beans with hash-browns... no problem8. My wife's sausage and eggs with hash-browns was your standard stuff. I am mystified by breakfast places that are chintzy with potatoes. They're cheaper than most other breakfast ingredients and fill you up. That, however, is not the case here. There's no empty spaces on the plate when it's set in front of you. Portions are generous. I saw someone order the biscuits and gravy and the portion size scared me away from ordering it. Service was a little scattered, but the place was busy, so I guess I can give them a pass on that. I would love to be able to rate them higher, but it simply met my expectations for breakfast and nothing really blew me away. Everything was well-priced, plain, simple, bland breakfast food that required use of the salt shaker at the table. Breakfast Stop in Tucson, AZ on 22nd Street has been one of our favorites for a year and a half for breakfast and lunch, but now it is our favorite restaurant for delicious Mexican food at dinner (4-9 pm M-Sat). Stop by and see for yourself....from the frijoles to the carne asada to the fresh salsa and tortillas it is yummy and very reasonably priced!!! You won't be disappointed. The green corn tamales are some of the best we have ever eaten and we were born and raised in Tucson. All the waitresses/waiters go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I'm use to paying close to if not more than $20 (not including tip) for just my son and I to eat at IHOP, Denny's, etc. My bill was under $15 and that's with tipping 20%. Ok! I don't even know where to begin. For one thing, this is Tucson, AZ. NEWLY recognized as one of the go to cities for food in the entire country! We also boast a bounty of fantastic brunch/breakfast spots! I've now found a new favorite. Breakfast Stop is located on 22nd just west of Wilmot. There are at least five top notch breakfast restaurants within a mile of this place. I went for my first time today and was absolutely blown away! It is the day after Christmas and we kind of assumed places might be a little busy today, but this place was PACKED! It's a rather small lil joint and it was running like a well-oiled machine. Lots of very happy regulars and everything looked great. What had drawn me here was the fact that they offer a full breakfast menu, but with some Mexican influences. My wife had a traditional eggs, sausage, potato n toast meal and I opted with the Chilaquiles. Hers was great....mine was amazing!!!! What really took the whole experience waaaay over the top was our server, Kim. She not only had her game together...but she did all sorts of extra lil things to make us feel like we had been coming there for years. Most importantly, when I was ordering my meal, she noticed I was interested in the Mexican side of the menu, she bragged about their menudo and birria. I am a huge soup fan and had already planned to order some birria to take home when she comes out to our table with some for us to sample!!! I mean who does that???!! And it was incredibly tasty! For those not familiar w Birria, it's basically a shredded beef soup in a chili broth. Even our sample came with a side of onions, cilantro, lime, and two little cups of different chili sauces! So freakin fantastic I can't even explain! Even if it weren't just a couple blocks down the road from our home, I'd make the trip to return here on a regular basis. I had to get out my seat at the counter to have my coffee cup refilled. I should've have gone to the Bread and Butter restaurant a couple of miles west on 22nd street where the service is always great and and the food and prices much better, which was my original destination before seeing this place. I usually have the more traditional American breakfasts here (which are the best in Tucson), but their Mexican breakfasts are amazing as well. Try the huevos rancheros. I'd heard a lot of nice things about this place, so hubs and I decided to give it a try. The only word that comes to mind is boring. No problems with cleanliness or service (our server visited with the regulars, but not to the point of ignoring other guests, so we found her attentive and nice) and nothing was "wrong" with anything, so I have no actual "complaints" per se. Maybe it was an off day, or we happened to order the things they don't do well, but my omelette was nothing special, and hubs' chicken-fried steak had bland gravy. The owner is not friendly and definitely needs a lesson in customer service. A dining experience is complete with friendly wait staff and good food. I will say the food I have tried has been very good. This a great place to take the family for a well rounded traditional Mexican or American breakfast. The wait staff was friendly and flexible if you wanted to lift your order. It's not fancy but it's homey, quaint and locally owned. We sat at the breakfast bar and watched the orders come out. We had chorizo and egg and chilaquiles which were very good. They gave a great portion size and most of the meals were under $10. Someone next to us had the steak and eggs which looked great. I would definitely go back again. read more

I was expecting to wait a while for our food, but it came after less than 5 minutes after we ordered. I had the biscuits and gravy supreme that came with eggs and bacon and I ordered a side of hash browns, the serving was HUGE, amazing for less than $8(not counting my hash browns). My daughter had a waffle with strawberries and was very happy with her order. I wish I had tried this place out sooner! I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends. read more
