This food was amazing. Hands down one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. A group of us went and they made a table big enough for us. The server was very friendly. Would definitely recommend. read more

After my second visit today, this is now my favorite breakfast spot in Ukrainian Village/West Town/Bucktown. The atmosphere is just right: no frills but nice, warm hardwood floors, lots of natural light, and a vivacious but not too loud or chaotic population of diners and servers. The servers are so kind and have taken care of every need big and small, which is a bonus for a byob spot. Our server today brought us a big ice bucket for the prosecco and another one kept our coffee filled and hot the whole time. The food is glorious and simply high quality. Portions are plentiful but not enormous. Options abound and your server will likely make you aware of them. We decided to tip well over 20% today because of all these things. It was such a nice time and I am sure you will agree. Go in a group or in a twosome, with parents or kids, sitting outdoors or in, and you won't be disappointed. read more

Breakfast House - Really relax place Great to start the morning - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Baked French toast was amazing! Burger was great! Only reason I won't give them five stars is because the place is really small and when I ordered pop, got it in a can instead of a bottle (real sugar Mexican coke) or fountain. I would still visit again though, just won't order soda. read more

Greetings & Salutations, This is actually my first official yelp review. I have wanted to do it a few times but I promised the very nice young ladies from this establishment that I would. My lady friend and I stumbled upon this place while we were hanging out on the north side of Chicago. We actually sat down at another restaurant and left there because we didn't really like the choices on the menu. Well, I'm very happy to say that the Breakfast House was exactly what we were looking for that day. They had a very decent variety of breakfast options, attentive & great customer service, and quality yet delicious food. We both enjoyed our meals. The pancakes were really good and because i'm a non-pork or beef eater, I loved the other "meat" options. This place feels like "Cheers,' a place where everybody knows your name. I would give it five stars but I wasn't blown away by the food but it is damn good! I highly recommend the Breakfast House. It is small and quaint, yet is huge in personality, quality of service, and taste of food. read more

Visited this place a few days back, have gone past way to many times now that I have been there. The exterior is very deceiving, looks like your average little corner hole in the wall restaurant that you would not give a second thought as I have done! Once inside complete change. Great decor, duper clean, friendly Waite staff and great food. I had their Sour Cream Pancakes with Fruit topping and all I will say, "To Die For"! I'm already planning my return visit sometime this week to experience another Breakfast item or maybe even one of the Lunch items! Can't wait to return!!!!! read more

I love that there's always an open seat at the bar, even on weekends. The decor is understated and classy, but not pretentious. The menu is thoughtfully done, with a few twists on the classics. I had the crab cakes benedict this round, and it was very tasty. read more

Breakfast House - Crab cakes benny with potatoes - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The food was very good and tasted fresh. I ordered the 3 egg omelette and a meat sampler. With the meat sampler, you can choose 3 different kinds of meat. I had 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links, and a few slices of their andouille sausage. Andouille sausage was pretty spicy and tasty. My girlfriend ordered the corn meal cakes (which tasted great) and my other friend ordered the breakfast burrito. Good food with perfect portions. I'll be coming back for sure. read more

See all

I had 2 eggs n andouville sausage slices and potatoes... tasted great! Plus French toast with whipped cream... very good! Place feels small at 1st but it's fine. I liked it all read more

Breakfast House - Window seat! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Been here twice. Great place. Clean, good food, friendly staff. They put vanilla in the waffles. Soooo good.

Just ate breakfast here for the first time. The food was very bad. I got the croissant sandwich and the eggs tasted like they were microwaved and the croissant was soggy. The latte I ordered was the only enjoyable part of the meal. The omelette that was also ordered was not very good. Would rate the quality of the meal a 4 out of 10. read more

Great little neighborhood spot. Friendly and efficient staff. My wife and I loved our orders. Definitely worth a try.

Thoroughly enjoyed this place and it's fresh breakfast/brunch options. Clean! Friendly! Attentive! Food came out hot and as ordered. Portions were sizable and did I mention fresh?! We had the House Hash, traditional Benedict and corn cakes. Everything was beautifully plated and tasted great!! Would definitely come again. read more

Love this little gem! It's clean, there is a dog friendly patio, it's byob and the food is delish! Can't wait to come back with my pup and some bubbly to enjoy more of their amazing food. Service was top notch..Adrianna was on top of everything and we were well taken care of. Thanks....till next time! read more

This is a must have in Chicago. Everything was delicious and fresh. We had the chorizo hash, buttermilk pancakes, eggs and corn cake (which is deserving of its own review). Fresh squeezed OJ and great coffee too; not to mention, the wait staff was extremely friendly. You can tell this is a family-owned joint that cares about its customers. Can't go wrong ordering here! read more

My hubby and I came in Saturday for a late breakfast- first time, since we're from the 'burbs and all. What a lovely neighborhood spot! Fresh, light decor, a delightful and super helpful, knowledgeable waiter, and we finished every last taste on our plates. It was delicious! Nice presentation as well. I'd gladly return. Breakfast House was the perfect weekend breakfast treat. read more

Breakfast House - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Love this spot. Very small neighborhood place, but incredibly delicious. You won't regret going here.

This was a cool little place. Pretty affordable and the food was good overall. My wife and I tried the Chaquiles and the Chicken and Waffles. Overall good flavor and portions. We would come back read more

OMG! Try the AMAZING chilaquiles for breakfast!! Some of the best chilaquiles I've ever had! There was plenty of sauce, beans, and cheese...but the best part was the chips. They were still crispy enough that you got a little crunch in every bite. My husband got the huevos rancheros and he loved them. Said everything was just right, except the spice level...but that's why there was hot sauce available. We arrived around 9:30am on a Sunday and the place was already packed but since there were only 2 of us, we were seated immediately. The service was very good - our drink order was taken almost the instant we sat down and our food order shortly after. The food arrived quickly and while still hot. We spent ~$35 with tip for 2 entrees, a side of bacon, and 2 drinks. We will definitely return when we return to Chicago! read more

So the food here is actually decent. Nothing special as far as breakfast goes, but it's fine. My friends had the vanilla waffle and two eggs over medium respectively, and each enjoyed their meal. Otherwise, our visit was a f%&$^*# trainwreck! There's no apparent way to be seated- you sort of walk in, and nobody comes to ask if you'd like to be seated, where you'd like to be seated, etc. Finally, we chose to sit outside. Terrible decision. They also have these awkward fence things around the outdoor seating which make pouring coffee pretty difficult. Our waitress spilled on my friend while doing this. The server was also pretty negligent of our table, so that component of the meal was just overall pretty bad. The worst thing has to do with the check, however. We got the bill, gave the server our credit cards, and she came back and the bill was $15 more than what had been listed. They acted like they had no idea what the problem was, and then, after about 5 minutes or so, realized that they had divided the total of our bill by two and then multiplied by three. It was just frustrating. I'd say this place needs to step up its game. Like so many other places in Chicago that aren't located in more affluent, frequently visited parts of town (Loop, Lincoln Park, Old Town, etc) the business practices here were just pretty shoddy. read more

This is a very nice cozy restaurant in a comfortable environment. The staff are very nice and the food is excellent.

Excellent service. Good food. Cozy atmosphere. A little bit pricey, but I think it's worth it. Intelligentsia coffee. Salmon cake eggs benedict! Choice of fresh fruit or potatoes with most entrees. There is a small outdoor seating area. A very comfortable place to go. read more

I just ate the best breakfast burrito I've ever had in my life. I literally want one every single day. Food arrived fast and hot. I will absolutely be ordering again! read more

FABULOUS FOOD! Very cute atmosphere and exceptional breakfast. Service is great too. Definitely my favorite place in the area!!

Had the corn meal cakes, the chorizo hash and the house hash at Breakfast House. The portions were just the right size and the food was delicious- the sauce on the chorizo hash especially was delicious! The waitstaff were attentive and fun. Definitely coming back! read more

Looking for real breakfast, come here. Food is great, coffee is robust and they are a BYOB. I got the Breakfast House Hash which was savory, had a great spice kick (not hot) and came with a delicious cream sauce read more

Pretty solid food, but very typical dinner food. Nothing amazing. I got the grilled chicken salad with honey mustard. The chicken was good and the dressing was decent. The eggs benedict was pretty good as well. read more

Super good, I ordered the crepes and they were probably one of the best I've ever had, the inside and outdoor area was also really nice.

Absolutely the best breakfast experience I have had in a long time. 10 out of 10 for service, atmosphere, and food!!

Loved it, get anything with their ham on it. I got the eggs benedict, would recommend. The waitress was very helpful, and gave us the spiel on the restaurant, and their most popular dishes. They also accommodated to our larger party, which is always nice in the city. read more

Living close by, my wife and I find ourselves coming here a couple times a month to enjoy always solid food served by very friendly staff at an affordable price. The menu is relatively simple - focusing, obviously, on breakfast food, as well as lunch items for the local businesses within the Kinzie corridor - but everything is good. Things to note: - The place is much more spacious than what it seems from the outside, so we've never had to wait to be seated, even during very busy weekend brunch rushes. Chicagoans love brunch, and many don't mind waiting - here you don't have to worry about that. - Coffee is Intelligentsia - good, but this variety is very strong. If you prefer Dunkin Donuts over Starbuck's, just beware this stuff packs an acidic and slightly bitter punch. - Portions aren't out of control huge, but big enough to definitely fill you up. We love brunch here because we walk out, even as early as 9:00 AM, and know that there's no way we'll be hungry until dinner time. - I can't seem to step away from their Breakfast House Hash, which is a great combination of potatoes, andouille and chicken sausage, peppers, eggs (can be cooked to preference, though labeled as poached) and this fantastic horse radish sauce to smother over the top. - While I order the same thing practically every time I'm there - this place really knows how to cook eggs. It might sound simple, but proper egg cooking, especially when you are trying to time the dishes coming out of the kitchen all at once is a very difficult thing to do well. I've ordered my eggs a variety of ways (poached, sunny-side up, over-easy) and they've always been done right. - Their veggie frittata is excellent. The roasted red pepper sauce is flavorful and refreshing. - Pancakes are solid, very typical American diner-esque. I usually order a short stack to go with my hash. While the incomparable Uncle Mike's is just a block away, Breakfast House should not be ignored - especially be the local neighborhood people not wanting to fight the crowds that line up for longanisa and bangus. Solid food, very friendly service, warm and comfortable environment, good prices. read more

Everyone!!! Another 4 star rating. Had one of the best breakfast hash in chicago. Get their breakfast house hash. Delicious. Love the vibes inside. Great friendly service. It's in a very low key area but do not be drawn away by that this place knows how to do breakfast. read more

No waiting time and absolutely delicious plus great service. Awesome breakfast spot, my favorite so far in his trip to Chicago.

Food was delicious. I had the chicken and waffles. White meat was juicy. My daughter had the crepes. The texture was a cross between a pancake and thin crepe but it was delicious. There is a kids menu and you can ask to have 1/2 orders of the the crepes. read more

I would give it 3.5 stars, but I'll round up because of how friendly and helpful the staff are. We ate the biscuits and gravy, which were very good, as were the breakfast house hash and the sweet potato pancakes. A note on the omelets: the ingredients are not mixed together, e.g. the onion and spinach were not cooked and meshed together with the eggs -- it was all separate. The person in my group who ordered it did not care for the presentation, but the waiter was very gracious and made her another one. All in all, it's a nice place that I would go to if I were in the area again. read more

We went last weekend for brunch and had the most confused, poor service and mostly inedible food. Highlights include: - Having to ask for menus after waiting 5 minutes - Grounds in the coffee - No refills on water - No toast brought out until the meal was over - The ham = bologna (not kidding) - We literally saw our food sit on the corner for 15 minutes before anyone brought it out to us - Also the toast just sat there for 15 more minutes after we got our food until we had to ask for it. - The toast also was wet ??? - Over cooked *almost hardboiled eggs (when they were supposed to be over-easy) - Weird texture to the food (the pancakes and corn cakes) - Huevos rancheros (with over cooked eggs) was a big, sloppy puddle of goo We were a party of 5 and we all agreed it was an awful experience. The only good thing was that they moved the tables to accommodate us and there was no wait. Not sure why this place is getting so many great reviews. I'd take Uncle Mikes over this, even if Breakfast House was offering free food. Also Tulum Grill (the old restaurant Breakfast House replaced) was far superior in every single possible way. NO THANKS BREAKFAST HOUSE. read more

My husband and I took my mom out for breakfast. The place is very cute but also small. They greeted us right away and we really did not wait at all for a table. Remember it is tight quarters as our table was in a side wall and behind my mom was the other table which if that person wanted to sit my mom had to move so they could get in. My mom is only 4"8 and 92 lbs. But with that being said we where waited on quickly. She got the pancakes with strawberries and hubby got eggs and hash browns and I got an omelet. Their pancakes are so light and fluffy and so soft! You can literally eat them plain they are so stinking good! Husband liked his eggs and hash-browns. I was not fond of my omelet though. I had spinach chicken sausage mushrooms and cheese. All those items was just placed in the middle of a egg omelet and into incorporated into the omelet like I am used to. I did not like that. Over all good experience, fast service and friendly staff. I would definitely go back for those pancakes! read more
