It was kind of odd having the manager's office in the front of the restaurant and in view of customers. Tables had an odd texture to them. Like they were painted but remained sticky for some reason. Pretzel appetizer was good and toasted. I could have used more acid and leche de tigre in the ceviche. So it was just OK. Skip the country fried steak. The brown gravy is flat out gross. Our fist time here. We went for the Sunday brunch. We were sat right away and drinks came out very fast. There was a little bit of a wait on the food however they were pretty busy. Our waitress, Crystal, was so kind in quickly helping us with drinks and also my waffle came out a little too dark for me and she quickly had me a new one out with no problem. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. We will definitely be back. Tip: the bacon was very good but has a sweet taste. If you're not big on sweet bacon then maybe opt for the sausage. read more

What a funky, fun spot! The patio was awesome. Our server (also the hostess, it seemed, although one other gal popped her head over to get confirmation on one of the sides we'd asked for) was beyond nice. She genuinely seemed happy to be there, and not just for tips - didn't get her name, but she had GORGEOUS purple hair. Food - YUM! Onion rings were the perfect size so that one bite didn't result in the whole onion slipping out of its fried blankie. Grilled shrimp - also the perfect size!! Not those tiny little grubby ones. The young man who greeted us at the door was extremely young but polite, and this must've been the first day for our server, who graduated from middle school. Lol, the place is empty, and while we were there, all they had on was music and the language my wife, and I didn't understand, and those who were there were conversing in that language as well. Possibly the worst thing I've ever tried. Fake seafood and tiny slimy scallops on unmelted cheese. The burger was basic and again the cheese was just thrown on and not melted (steak and shake is better). The Fish and Chips is made with Tilapia. Not Cod? Just pass on all of it. Went with a friend, she loves the bar and place itself. I thought it was ok, not really any different than your typical bar/restaurant. Will say though that one of their waitresses (sorry, don't know her name) was great! All the staff was great but she made the night interesting. Not sure if it's all the time but they will do karaoke at night time so you can either enjoy the show or be annoyed by the performers (who usually tend to have some drinks in them). I preferred to enjoy. We had the chicken tenders meal and grilled pork chop meal. The chicken tenders came with fries and onion rings. It was a large portion, with enough for lunch the next day. Sweet potato fries and fried okra were chosen as sides for the pork chop; both were good. The only challenge was getting the glass of wine that was ordered. My first red flag was that no one was there at 12 pm but I decided to go anyway. My French toast was extremely burnt so my waitress told me she would comp it and make me a new one. Any time a new restaurant opens in flowery branch I get really excited because the options are very limited and there isn't a lot of variety. I heard about this place about a month before they opened. Today I ate there and I thought I'd share my thoughts with the yelpisphere. First impression is "I love what they did with the place". I had visited when it was greens and it was very dark and lacked some identity. Hometown grill has an identity. Before getting to that I'll share my thoughts on the environment. The front doors now have windows and they've changed the entire inside to full seating and removed the indoor bar. I think this is smart because it allows for more seats and less of a wait on busy days. The menu is a bit underwhelming BUT I was told by someone it was just a basic menu until they roll out their full menu. Currently has some burgers, Ruben, wings, and few other things including a salad. I should have taken a picture of it. Oh well! The food was good. I'd rate it a 8 our of 10. It's very American style food. It reminds me a lot of friends in Buford. Lot of similarities in my opinion. Hometown may be slightly more expensive. Speaking of price, it's on the high end of the price point they need to stay within. I've attached my bill for your review. We had a party of 4 (2 adults 2 kids). We ordered 5 wings as an app, my wife got 10 wings, I got the Ruben, and both kids got the kids finger with fries. All of us drank water and after tip were over $50. $7 for a kids menu item feels a little high. I never feel like I get my money out of kids menu because they never finish it. I guess we can use it for a second meal (leftovers). The food was prepared well and I really enjoyed the Ruben sandwich. They did a great job with that! We liked the wings and I tasted the chicken fingers that my kids got and they were cooked perfectly. They were moist and flavorful. The fries were really good and all came with healthy portions. The staff was very friendly and was a very young staff. They weren't your typical younger staff. I felt well taken care of and had multiple people come ask about our experience. I believe they care and did a good job of serving our food with a good attitude. They had a lot of staff members there but I imagine they're probably getting everyone up to speed. For it being a new restaurant I didn't feel like they were in the middle of training or having a hard time with the process. The food took a little while to come out but I would say it wasn't bad either. Right when I started thinking it was taking a bit they delivered it out less than 1 minute later. They weren't that busy. I'd be interested to see how fast they turn food around when they are slammed. I'll be back when they roll out a full menu and I hope to update this review over time as I learn more about them. I could easily give them a 5 star for effort and food quality/taste. I'd just say I think the prices are a tad too high and people would more than likely visit more often if it was a little less. Try the Ruben! You won't be disappointed. read more

I've been there six different times with different management have not had a excellent experience yet. Who does overprice service a slow food quality is low the atmosphere on the patio sucks. Noisy ice machine is always running. I have not found one redeeming factor regarding this place, other than it's location. But unlike real estate location is not enough to save this restaurant, we will not return . It's my understanding they're trying to. New restaurant in Flowery Branch located in the remodeled location of the old Green's Tavern. I was thrilled to learn that the whole location is non-smoking which was always a big negative with the previous business as you could never escape the smoke coming from the patio area.The staff is super friendly and they all go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. My wife and I were some of the very first customers just an hour after they received their business license so the first visit was during the training phase. Our second visit showed a vast improvement in the service as everyone is coming up to speed. I had the burger with the fried green tomato and it was very tasty while my wife had the chef salad which she said was very good. If for some reason you aren't satisfied with your food, reach out to the owner and I'm pretty confident she will make it right! read more

Some think because the batter is seasoned that they don't have to season the actual meat. I'm assuming they seasoned the batter, not even sure because the batter wasn't exploding with flavor either. When I bit into the burger it just tasted like breaded meat. I'm sorry but I need seasoning on my meat. To me, there was a major lack in flavor. My husband got the same burger and he said his was fine/good. Nonetheless, smothered it in bbq sauce. Normally if he eats a good burger then he won't put any bbq sauce on it. Go figure. Oh this sort of irritated me. I paid an extra $1.99 for a side salad because I didn't want fries. There were two pieces of onions and two maybe three tomatoes wedges.
