Grilled Cheese w Bacon was off the hizzy and they have a fun selection of beer that come in a variety of neato glasses at a decent price. The waitress knew her beer (always a bonus) and was super friendly. Mondays (Trivia night) is a good time.. I do feel they should switch up their "picture" portion of the trivia as it appears as though a three year old drew them; making it more of a blind guessing game rather than trivia. I also appreciated the diverse selection in music as opposed to the typical 99.5 run of the mill crap. Thankfully, there is no spillage of Georgetown jackoffs as they tend to frequent Town Hall which is across the street from Breadsoda. Breadsoda's not exactly your destination bar. It's located far from any metro station. It's hardly the most convenient neighborhood (being Glover Park and all). So the good news is that you wouldn't have to worry about rowdy crowds, which makes Breadsoda the ideal neighborhood hangout. Haven't tried the food but they've got variety of beers among daughts, bottles, and cans. The best way to think about this place is as a big living room shared among friends. Breadsoda is SUCH a welcome addition to Glover Park. Lots of my favorite beers, actual bar activities (such as pool and Wii!) a good amount of patio seating and standing room, and a pretty chill vibe can be found here. As expected the clientele is mostly the standard Glover Park/Georgetown crew, shaking hands and kissing babies, but there is room for everyone here. Until recently I had not sampled the sandwiches...and let me tell you, waiting is a MISTAKE! My dining companion had the Reuben, and I had the turkey sandwich. The Reuben was hot, juicy and sooo buttery and delicious. The turkey sam had both pepperjack cheese AND chipotle mayonnaise for a spicy treat! I didn't try the slaw, but the potato salad was delicious and creamy, and the pickles are crunchy and cold. We came in on a Sunday afternoon, ate some sandwiches and watched the Olympics- a very different scene than the normal weekend melee. read more

Came here with some hockey mates after a tournament. Our sandwiches were absolutely delicious. I had the smoked salmon and a friend of mine the mozzarella. Loved the pickles too! They were both spicy and sweet. Large list of local beers and ciders was definitely a plus, but the best part of the night was the service. Excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable bartenders. Any bar with Delirium Tremens deserves 5 stars! Seriously, Breadsode has a small but great beer selection. Try the Kasteel, it packs a punch at 11% alcohol, but is an absolute treat. I went to Breadsode for a mid-day lunch. The quality of the food matches the alcohol; I had the Moroccan chicken salad on a croissant and thoroughly enjoyed it, and tried the Italian sandwich, which I also found to be pretty good. The decor inside is very cool (there's a poster from Bulitt on the wall!) and I'm definitely looking forward to trying some of the evening festivities. read more

I am reticent to write a review for Breadsoda because one of the reasons I love it is because I feel it's still a bit under the radar. I can walk there to relax, bring my laptop, have a great snack (the egg salad sando is a delicious change for this carnivore) and a yummy beer in those cozy chairs in the corner. Or if I'm feeling more adventurous, I can tackle the pool tables, shuffleboard or wii. There's also ping pong tuesdays, which are pretty awesome and tend to turn comical as beer flows and balls fly. The only reason I don't give them a 5 is because I want to play ping pong whenever I want, not only on Tuesdays :(. Enjoy! read more

Beer, cheese and pickles...that's what's up at Breadsoda. Last night we decided to do Glover Park for drinks and snacks. The bartender was fabulous, we got a couple Peroni's, but when we asked if there were any appetizers, she kindly informed us that they were out of most everything, the first time ever in Breadsoda history. My friend and I got creative and ordered some pickles, nice kick with the dill, and some cheese and bread. Although not normally on the menu, the bartender was more than willing to whip us up a beautiful cheese plate. Taco tuesday is the S***T. I am pretty picky when it comes to Taco's but I have to say these get my vote for possibly the best in the city. Throw in some ping pong(sorry to the people behind me or next to us that got hit by errant ping pong balls)an eclectic juke box, Steve and his great staff, and reasonable prices for drinks as well as good beer selection and you have breadsoda. I haven't been to Breadsoda since this last week because it is in the metro deadzone of glover park, but since a lot of people in my office love this place, it was only a matter of time before I would try this place out. The food was reasonably priced with a huge sandwich selection. I ordered a turkey sandwich that came with Chibatta bread and Chipotle mayo. While it was satisfying, the toasted sandwiches that others ordered looked a lot more appealing. All I have to say is that it's going to take a long time to make it through that sandwich list. Came here one day to visit with a couple friends who were in town for a few days. We sat outside on a lovely day and enjoyed the beer selection for a few hours. Our server was around mostly when we needed her, and our drinks did come out quickly. Visited this place last night (Wednesday). It wasn't overly crowded at all, but enough people around to give it a nice vibe. Went there to hang out on a casual kinda date, and I loved the atmosphere and interior design. Lots of great beer on tap and the bartenders were very friendly. I wish I could have played shuffleboard, but it was the hit of the night so I kept it low key at one of the high top tables. I'd love to go back to try one of their sandwiches. I liked that it was almost hidden down the staircase. I've run by countless times and can honestly say I never knew what was down those steps. Now I know. The outdoor seating should be fun once it starts warming up, and I'll definitely be making my way back. From what I've read, it gets pretty crazy on the weekends, but from someone who visited on a week night, it gets my vote as a fun little joint. read more

I stumbled upon Breadsoda as I was wandering through Glover Park looking for a new place to eat. It was a Monday and they happened to have a trivia night getting ready to start. I am a big trivia buff and my wife and I were excited to test our brains against the local competition. We quickly ordered two of the Gourmet Grilled cheeses (which happened to be the best I have ever had) and settled into the game. We finished 2nd for the night and got a $10 GC for our efforts. All in all the Bar was a great place to hang out on a Monday night. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was extremely relaxing. We will definitely be returning to Breadsoda next Monday to try and get the top prize! read more

This is a nice little neighborhood bar in the Glover park area. It never really gets too crowded. They have good beers, I haven't tried the food so I can't comment on it. There are several pool tables and a shuffle board. There is only one dart board and a virtual simulation game that is pretty fun. They have a habit of closing early (12:30am) during the weekdays which may cause some inconvenience if you want to watch a late game. read more

BreadSoda is a great spot admist the preppy establishments of Glover Park. It's nice to go sit outside and have some beers or go with some friends to play pool or shuffleboard (although the rental fee for these can creep up). I have this place five stars because the restaurant has an identity and owns that. It's a bar. It has bar food and bar type atmosphere. They have bar games, bar lighting and a happy hour in which I throughly enjoyed. I always wanted a bar I could call home and this one would be it if I lived in the area. This is my favorite bar in DC. It reminds me a lot of the Quarry House in Silver Spring, only nicer and much cleaner. Breadsoda is a place where everyone can get along, and not any one group gets drowned out. This is not the popped collar bro fest that takes over everywhere else in Glover Park. Sure the fratty contingent swings by sometimes, but it stays within tolerable levels. There is a good crew of regulars, people that work or live in the area, skaters, bikers, jean vest gangs, you name it. Be careful not to miss it, right beneath the signs for Lado International College and across the street from Mayfair and Pine. There is outdoor, picnic table, umbrella covered seating on the Wisconsin Avenue level, and more outdoor setting a set of steps down. Inside, Breadsoda has a rad retro vibe, but is definitely very modern. Plenty of big televisions and good views from all angles. They have shuffleboard, pool, wii, darts, tons of games, and on Wednesday night, they are free! Trivia on Monday night is a good time too. They are always playing great music - it's so awesome to go to a bar in DC and hear Pennywise or Bad Religion, not Nickelback or Pitbull. There is always a good rotation of craft beers, and the people at Breadsoda make sure to bring in new stuff to try, not only beer, but cider, wine, and spirits as well. They always have plenty of DC Brau which keeps me happy. Bartenders are real people and fun to talk to, not to mention great at what they do. Food is really good. Veggie burger is out of this world. Chicken club is delicious. They're bacon is thick cut and on point. The baked potato will blow your mind. Great place to watch the game as well, plenty of passionate fans, without any over the top face painting or screaming. Seriously, check this place out! read more

I really hope Breadsoda staff read this review. Since I can barely stomach the drunken frat boys crawling around most Glover Park bars, I love the hipper vibe of Breadsoda. Helps me justify spending $6 for a beer (Bells Two-Hearted on tap)! I've even had a couple nibbles here that were pretty decent. Definitely recommend the deviled eggs. It's really just the service earning this spot only three stars. Every where I look there's another bartender or server yet my pint glass is still empty. Look, I totally get the disheveled-hipster bartender look of shoving your portly body into skinny jeans and styling your hair with bacon grease (by the way, this place always smells like bacon. You'll definitely be followed by stray dogs when you leave). However, I may flirt with the idea of tipping you, so at least make eye contact with me. read more

Go for the shuffleboard, stay for the unique beer, and leave because of the hipsters. I recommend going on a weekend to chill out with friends or starting your weekend night out with shuffleboard and then choosing which district to spend the rest of the night. Breadsoda is quite possibly the only decent bar west of Rock Creek, and is definitely my bar of choice within walking distance of my house. Decent beer selection, solid bar food, and great staff. Further, they are exceedingly dog-friendly (On the patio only), and will bring out a water bowl and sometimes a treat for your furry family member (The dog, not your SO...). Yes, during the school year, there is an influx of douchy, snot-nosed university kids on weekend nights, but they generally overwhelm the place for an hour or two before heading downhill to Georgetown to engage in daterape and public vomiting. In general, the crowd is pleasant and not overly bro-y. read more

I enjoyed the shuffleboard with my sister and parents after Winesday at Whole Foods and the rudest bartender (a female with horrible highlights) treated us so terribly when we asked where they placed our glasses from Whole Foods. She said she threw them away, without apology or answer of where they were. She called them trash even though there were very few people there. The glasses were souvenirs and not in the way at all. My father demanded they return the glasses and she gave back 4 (out of 5) glasses and only 3 in decent shape. She was a horrible employee working during 9-10 pm on Wednesday August 26th. Complaining the whole time and cold to all of us. Just the rudest bartender I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. read more
