Move over Panera Bread - this place is amazing! My salad was delicious, but the star of the show was the warm baguette that wasn't too hard or crispy - I couldn't believe how good it was. Usually the baguettes can be really hard and tough to chew, but this was not. The setup to order was kind of like a traditional sub shop or chipotle where you get to pick your stuff as you go, only it's for salads. I really enjoyed this place! I opted to create my own salad, but there are a few options you can pick from the menu if you prefer. The folks on the other side of the counter assemble your salad in a big bowl and then mix it all up for you-including dousing it with your dressing of choice. Then, it's smashed into a hollowed out baguette before it's handed over to you to eat like a vertical Subway sandwich. The zeppelin makers are quick and will make suggestions if you have questions or don't know which one to choose. Not sure the zeppelins would be as good if you took them home but they are darn tasty when they are fresh. I am obsessed with the concept of Bread Zeppelin. Salad, but make it a a whole ass handheld meal. I am often wary of salad "fast food" as the produce can be questionable. Bread Zeppelin, however, had the freshest produce and just felt very clean inside. In addition, the staff were all friendly and well-mannered. I ordered the southwest zeppelin with chicken which was then made fresh in front of my very eyes. I appreciated being asked how much avocado ranch dressing I wanted as they prepared it because I often opt for less. I savored each crunchy bite packed with flavor. I have loved Bread Zeppelin for years. I was told at this location that they no longer chop the salads. I thought that was part of the appeal of going to this restaurant. I got the Ceaser salad like I normally do, but it was not as good because it wasn't chopped. I asked the guy who was finishing my salad to clean the board because I am gluten free and that is what normally happens and that is when he told me that they are no longer chopped. I came with friends and it was their first time and I told them about the great salads and flavors and quality ingredients used and I was left disappointed. My fellow buddy whom I attend ToastMaster's with recommended this place to me. Very interesting type of place, reminds me somewhat of a Vietnamese Banh mi, where they take out the insides of the baguette. Bread Zeppelin does it a similar way they use locally baked artisan baguette, toast it with a pizza oven, and then pull out the soft insides and stuff it full of a customized chopped salad and ask which dressings you want? They are made in house and they let the customers sample. Pretty cool idea and so tasty, I was impress something so simple could taste so well. The menu offers a variety of their Signature Salads or you can build your own. If it's your first visit there, they have 8 "first-time favorites" out of the 12 Signature Salad Choices. I chose the Lone Star salad: greens with steak, tomatoes, avocados, fried onion rings and jalapeños. They allowed me to swap out 2 ingredients for another. You can also request to keep the insides of the baguette which is just awesome if you're a bread lover like me. This was just one of the best things I've had after a workout. I don't like to eat a big lunch during the work week. It weighs me down, makes me tired, and keeps me from operating at full capacity where I can quite literally do backflips for my boss. In order to be at peak flexibility and maneuverability in the afternoon, I need something light. This gimmick caught my eye as I was perusing through the Yelp Ocean of lunch ideas in Plano. I love the idea from a franchise perspective, the margins seem incredible. They take a loaf of bread, hollow it out, stuff it with salad, and then RESELL the inside of the bread as croutons, GENIUS! This isn't really recycling, or being sustainable by any means, it's just double charging in a really funny way. But I digress, the food was amazing. Any time you have a salad, you really need that crunch that will take it to the next level. Having the salad actually inside a loaf of bread makes the crunch distribution even across every bite, this is a salad engineer's dream! My one issue with this establishment was the lack of available salad artists to create these subtle masterpieces. This place was absolutely POPPIN with a diverse demographic of hungry corporate, ladder-climbing American salad fans during lunch time, and the wait was pretty long. read more

When I asked for more, they said it was an added charge of about $1. The food was just OK. Not worth what we paid and it really turned me off that they charged extra for a little more dressing. Whoever decided it was a good idea to stuff a loaf of bread with salad is a true foodologist (yes I made that word up). Bread Zeppelin is like a dream come true for me. When you enter there's probably a line but it usually moves pretty fast. Their menu is on the wall and you get to choose between a salad or a "zeppelin." After you tell them which salad you want they toast a freash loaf of bread and you follow whichever worker will be chopping your salad to their station. Make sure you ask for the insides of your bread, they are free and warm, and who doesn't want the soft inside of a fresh baked loaf of bread? They chop your salad up, wrap it up then you head to pay for you food. I tend to go for a classic caesar salad with boiled egg and red pepper flakes in my zeppelin. Their proteins are a little expensive for my taste, but they do give a larger portion compared to Salata. Boiled egg is free so if you're not big into chicken or steak in your salad this is a good and afforable option. Easy, extremely affordable, and very innovative. -Make sure you get your insides of you bread (as if I haven't stressed that enough). read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this place! I was looking for a healthy salad place around my job and I stumbled across this on Yelp. It's an interesting concept. You squish your salad into a loaf of bread. I think it's really smart because sometimes a salad alone doesn't make you full, so the extra carbs will definitely do the trick. If you don't want the bread you can also get a bowl, and their bowls are huge!! You can make your own for either but there is a limit on how many ingredients you can put and it's extra if you want protein. I thought the protein upcharge was a little pricey. I think it's smarter to go with one of their speciality options if you want some protein because it'll be cheaper. I got the chicken Cesar salad in a zeplin. Even better than I thought it would be and I knew it would be DELICIOUS! You walk in and the people are so welcoming and nice. They ask if you've ever been and if not, which was my mom and I, they explain the process to you. I went with the Atlantis with NO white onion and I added pickles and instead of Romaine Lettuce, I got Kale. So glad I did that. Made it a Zeppelin. I couldn't even wait until I got home to devour it. The bread Zeppelin was warm, soft on the inside, a bit crunchy on the outside and I mean it was just perfect. All that greatness stuffed inside of a hot bread pocket. You can't go wrong! My mom got the Washington State and my dad got the Nola. Next time I go, I'm going to get the Washington State.
