Dave's Hot Chicken - The sweet boy who took my order - Chicken Shop Near Me - Plano, Texas

I'm amazed by this place. To be fair I've never been, but what Jonpaul H. and William S. have said about the food, ambiance, and the little young boy serving has made this place the number one on my list! I will definitely come back! read more

The food here was horrible. The fries were lukewarm, I ordered two tenders, I believe in the mild flavor and they tasted bad, overpowering and salty. The fries had I think the same seasoning on them and while eating the tenders and fries, my stomach was hurting. I stopped eating it and asked for just a plain chicken tender. The plain chicken tender was lukewarm and literally tasted like nothing. I drank some lemonade and it made my stomach feel better but my stomach is mildly hurting now, after leaving the restaurant. The service was good and the restaurant was fairly clean. Sadly, I wasted $18 here and I will never return. I could have gotten better tenders at a fast food restaurant. read more

I got a chicken tender and a slider! The French fries were very tasty!! Food was great and I will be back!!

Haven't been to Dave's in a couple of years, wasn't super impressed the times I went previously. Recently decided to try them again with the new loaded fries and wow, it was amazing! Really great flavors, something I am already craving again. The staff was very nice and helpful and Restaurant was clean. read more

I LOVE Dave's Hot Chicken and I have been to many locations. This is one of the best! Service was great and the food came out fairly quickly. I love the Dave's not chicken menu, especially the cauliflower bites! I also loved the single cauliflower slider. The kale slaw was just okay and tasted a little dry. The restaurant was very clean and had a variety of seating options. There are a lot of places to park in the area. I will most certainly be returning and highly recommend Dave's to anyone and everyone (especially vegetarians now!) read more

The chicken sliders are huge. I like that you can customize the heat. Chicken is very tender and juicy. I'm not a big fan of the dusty texture of the seasoning, but I'd try it again. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken is a family favorite. We hadn't been there in a while and decided to stop in on a Saturday afternoon. There wasn't a line upon arrival and the restaurant wasn't crowded. We placed our orders....#4 - chicken slider with fries. My sauce for the chicken was lite medium. My daughter chose medium hot. She also ordered the loaded Oreo cookie shake. Our food was ready within 5 minutes. The food was hot and fresh. The fries were crispy and the chicken tenders were a good size. The only downside to my order was that I noticed that my daughter got two chicken tenders and I got one. I had taken a couple of bites before I realized it. The slider was filling even without the 2nd tender. The next time we eat there, I'll check for 2 tenders . The loaded Oreo cookie shake was also creamy and tasty. read more

This food is great but had to wait 27 minutes for a small in store order. That's not acceptable for fast food no matter how good it is.

I am coming back for the fries, which are much more delicious than they look! The chicken was also delicious, I really liked that you could choose your heat level. I went with Mild, which had a tiny bit of kick. I'd probably upgrade to Medium next time. The portions are GIGANTIC. My husband and I definitely could have split one combo meal! I loved the interior, the art was amazing and fun to enjoy while we ate. This is a great casual restaurant alternative to your normal fast food chains. We'll be back' read more

I've never been here before so I thought I'd try it out. I stuck to the mild flavor for my 1st run. This chicken is so tender and juicy I ate it all (thought I was going to get a to go box) with no hesitation. The seasoning, flavor and batter was spectacular! The staff is so welcoming and he helped me order without rushing me. The area is a cool vibe and clean restaurant. I can't wait to go back. read more

$17+ dollars for a combo meal when you add a drink??? Had to hard pass when I found that out. 12:30 in the afternoon and only 1 other person in the place. Went to Chili's and did 3 For Me for $10.99. This place is just a horrible value. Even Popeyes has a spicy chicken sandwich combo for much less. read more

Been wanting to try Dave's for a while so I randomly stopped in. I will start by saying be sure of what you're ordering before you place your order. The portions are huge and the the price is super expensive. The ambiance is like any other fast food restaurant. I ordered the 2 sliders (mild) and fries with a side of cheese sauce. The sliders are not your typical sliders, it's basically 2 full size chicken sandwiches. Way too much food for one sitting. My total was around $23 with tip. The food is perfectly seasoned but the lemonade was out which was a disappointment. I would definitely eat here again but I'd share a combo or order a single slider. 8 out of 10. read more

I've been meaning to try this place - WOW. You know how sometimes hot chicken doesn't have much flavor besides the heat? This one is PACKED with flavor - it's so tasty! I got the sandwich with everything on it and it was amazing with the honey on it. Fries are pretty dang good, especially if you like crinkle fries :) Mild is very manageable - not too spicy but has a little kick The "hot" is pretty hot. Definitely don't order this heat level if you don't love hot food! He says "it'll definitely make you sweat"! read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - Dave's #2 - Chicken Shop Near Me - Plano, Texas

Went in there twice over the last week to order and I was not greeted nor assisted and I walked out because of it. Horrible customer service

I didn't enjoy the extra hot slider. I had to get a new sandwich remade because my husband ordered a medium slider, and my slider tasted identical, and he agreed. There is no way that was an extra hot slider, which is supposed to be the second spiciest slider. After telling the disgruntled cashier my issues, she then proceeded to say to me, "there is no way the sliders are the same," as if she were the chef. She gave me very rude looks and shh's under her breath like a teenager. The chef didn't look too pleased having to remake the sandwich either. So the chef remade the sandwich and personally brought it to me, and that is the only reason I give Dave's two stars. The sandwich had more spice but still light in taste. Their sandwich is nowhere close in taste or quality to Rickey's hot chicken. Ricky's Hot Chicken is so delicious! The bun and chicken are low quality at Dave's and their spice is bland as well. The crinkled-cut fries weren't fresh, and I received a minimal amount. Also, this location is filthy. The tables and floors are very sticky and dirty. I did enjoy looking at the beautiful mural, though. read more

Well this was some good food. On my first trip to Dave's I decided to get the two sliders. Loved the fresh pickles, slaw was ok, bread was fresh, and the chicken was probably the best in town. I got one medium and one hot. Medium could pass for mild at other places--the coating is flavorful but there's really no kick at all. Medium should be a safe choice for most people. Hot had me reaching for a beverage and tearing up but that's just what I was craving. I liked adding honey to the hot one, personally. The flavor on both was great and the chicken was moist and perfect. The combo comes with lightly seasoned crinkle fries that are a little better than average and have a little bit of crispiness. Fries and chicken both beat all the local competitors but the price seems a little steeper. They give you two large chicken strips for about what Cane's charged for 5 smaller ones. That's definitely more food per dollar at Cane's but they've got no spice options at all, Dave's includes one special sauce--somewhat similar to thousand island, Mac sauce, comeback sauce, etc. Extras are 25 cents each and I would say you want at least one extra. I hate that they charge but at least it's less than most. Drink options were Coke products and the cups are too small for the price--not a big deal for dine in but annoying for take out. The location has a long room with a lot of seating concrete floor vibe similar to Wingstop but far more spacious. Service was prompt and polite--included all my condiments and accommodated when I asked for something else. All good. read more

This food made me ascend to heaven while the immaculate choir of angles sung in the background. I have never once had a slider that caused me so much immense joy, caused me to wish I had amnesia so I could experience this for the first time again. Dave's Hot Chicken really surprised me with the juiciness and crunchiness of the chicken! The service was great and the food came out in a timely manner. It's an average chicken place that basically serves spicy chicken tenders on white bread with nothing else. It will do in a pinch, but for the $20 I spent on lunch it was underwhelming read more

Yes, the chicken is hot so be sure to spread some honey on your meal. Best to get no hotter than mild menu items to check you taste buds before getting anything hotter. Be prepared to use lots of napkins kinda messy which makes it a fun meal. BTW: in hot summer months take advantage of shade fronting Preston Rd. We got two different orders; two sliders and two tenders. We opted to eat the sliders and take the tenders home with honey as leftovers. Only two things to note; no sweetener for iced tea and music was too loud. read more

It was a frustrating day today....first stop was Popeyes chicken to finally try a chicken sandwich that's been the subject of these chicken sandwich wars. Headed there after hockey practice to the far North Dallas location on Preston rd at the Bush. Run away people. Not sure what's happening inside that restaurant but people were waiting and waiting in the drive thru line and eventually just abandoned the line altogether which after 10-15 minutes waiting we did the same. He really wanted a chicken sandwich so off to our go to spot Chick fil a. Pulled up at the West Plano location only to see they hadn't completed their move and were closed until this coming weekend so another miss for us. The wife has a great idea and says let's try Dave's Hot Chicken. None of us had so we thought, let's give it a try. We were all jonesing for a great chicken sammie. Well folks, it wasn't. We each got the #3. My son and I got medium spice and the wife mild spice. The chicken tasted old. Like it had been sitting around for a while. We were at the end of the lunch rush 1:30 but these tasted like they were made much earlier in the day. The spice was odd. It was all in the coating and none in the chicken. Not crispy at all. Just disappointing and extremely salty . 3 #3's and $50.00 later we threw most of it in the trash. The sauce lacked too. Not flavorful at all. They told us to mix it with honey but that didn't help. Overall a very lacking experience. Won't be back for sure. All the Popeyes locations in DFW are less than 2 stars on Yelp too. Not sure how Dave's rated over a 4. Not even close for us. Chick Fil A still reigns supreme. Won't bother trying Popeyes after seeing their ratings. read more

Ordered online for pickup. Said it would be ready in 10 minutes and it was! My husband went to go pick it up and it was ready when he got there. Chicken was moist! We both got the #3. I got mild and he got medium. Mild for me still had a little bit of kick, and I liked that a lot. A lot of cumin flavor from the season and you can really taste it as the tender by itself. Husband enjoyed that a lot. I liked the slider/sandwich better. Especially the kale slaw on it! Perfect! Will definitely order from here again, or eat there! read more
