The food here was horrible. The fries were lukewarm, I ordered two tenders, I believe in the mild flavor and they tasted bad, overpowering and salty. The fries had I think the same seasoning on them and while eating the tenders and fries, my stomach was hurting. I stopped eating it and asked for just a plain chicken tender. The plain chicken tender was lukewarm and literally tasted like nothing. I drank some lemonade and it made my stomach feel better but my stomach is mildly hurting now, after leaving the restaurant. The service was good and the restaurant was fairly clean. Sadly, I wasted $18 here and I will never return. I could have gotten better tenders at a fast food restaurant. read more

I LOVE Dave's Hot Chicken and I have been to many locations. This is one of the best! Service was great and the food came out fairly quickly. I love the Dave's not chicken menu, especially the cauliflower bites! I also loved the single cauliflower slider. The kale slaw was just okay and tasted a little dry. We placed our orders....#4 - chicken slider with fries. My sauce for the chicken was lite medium. My daughter chose medium hot. She also ordered the loaded Oreo cookie shake. Our food was ready within 5 minutes. The food was hot and fresh. The fries were crispy and the chicken tenders were a good size. The only downside to my order was that I noticed that my daughter got two chicken tenders and I got one. I had taken a couple of bites before I realized it. Well this was some good food. On my first trip to Dave's I decided to get the two sliders. Loved the fresh pickles, slaw was ok, bread was fresh, and the chicken was probably the best in town. I got one medium and one hot. Medium could pass for mild at other places--the coating is flavorful but there's really no kick at all. Medium should be a safe choice for most people. Hot had me reaching for a beverage and tearing up but that's just what I was craving. I liked adding honey to the hot one, personally. The flavor on both was great and the chicken was moist and perfect. The combo comes with lightly seasoned crinkle fries that are a little better than average and have a little bit of crispiness. Fries and chicken both beat all the local competitors but the price seems a little steeper. They give you two large chicken strips for about what Cane's charged for 5 smaller ones. That's definitely more food per dollar at Cane's but they've got no spice options at all, Dave's includes one special sauce--somewhat similar to thousand island, Mac sauce, comeback sauce, etc. Extras are 25 cents each and I would say you want at least one extra. I hate that they charge but at least it's less than most. Drink options were Coke products and the cups are too small for the price--not a big deal for dine in but annoying for take out. The location has a long room with a lot of seating concrete floor vibe similar to Wingstop but far more spacious. Service was prompt and polite--included all my condiments and accommodated when I asked for something else. All good. read more

The wife has a great idea and says let's try Dave's Hot Chicken. None of us had so we thought, let's give it a try. We were all jonesing for a great chicken sammie. Well folks, it wasn't. We each got the #3. My son and I got medium spice and the wife mild spice. The chicken tasted old. Like it had been sitting around for a while. We were at the end of the lunch rush 1:30 but these tasted like they were made much earlier in the day. The spice was odd. It was all in the coating and none in the chicken. Not crispy at all. Just disappointing and extremely salty . 3 #3's and $50.00 later we threw most of it in the trash. The sauce lacked too. Not flavorful at all. They told us to mix it with honey but that didn't help. Overall a very lacking experience. Won't be back for sure. All the Popeyes locations in DFW are less than 2 stars on Yelp too. Not sure how Dave's rated over a 4. Not even close for us. Be prepared to use lots of napkins kinda messy which makes it a fun meal. BTW: in hot summer months take advantage of shade fronting Preston Rd. We got two different orders; two sliders and two tenders. We opted to eat the sliders and take the tenders home with honey as leftovers. One of the chicken patties (which are good size) was a bit dry, but it didn't bother me that much because the sauce was sufficient to moisten everything. There are 6 "heat" levels to the breading to chose from and after talking to the guy serving decided to go with "mild" to start with despite liking hot food. Well it had a nice kick to it for "mild" and by that I mean my forehead was sweating after the first sandwich! Still, I like hot and will go up a level or two next visit to see how that goes!
