This location needs to work on their customer service skills. I ordered a salad for lunch when I picked it up and came back to work I noticed that over half of my toppings were not on the salad. I tried called the store but keep getting voicemail that wanted you to text you catering order to them. So I was forced to drive back up there. When I came in they asked me the problem and I told them. They said they could put on the items that they left off. I asked them what else they were going to do for my time and gas and they offered me 2 coupons when you buy a salad you get $5.00 off. Nice salad spot. Went in for the first time today, got a small salad and added pesto chicken. The salads are pricey and they charge for extra dressing. Overall it was a pleasant experience even though I was a little confused when I first walked in. The small size is more than enough because the portion is still fairly large. This location lacks diversity training. Every time I go this this location there is a noticeable difference in how they treat customers base on your skin color. I find this odd, because the entire restaurant is ran by minorities. Luis Hernandez will disregard your concerns if you are a black woman. Luis, as a leader you lack customer and leadership skills. Ricardo helped my Mom build her salad bowl, and when I say "patience" I truly mean it! You see my Mom is going under a major operation in a couple of days so she has a ton of restrictions. Ricardo stood there waiting patiently as my Mother was calling her Doctor to receive what is approved for her to eat. The whole process took literally 15 minutes for Ricardo to build my Moms salad. I love having a delicious and refreshing salad. The people who work there seem like they do not want to be there. I understand they have an assembly line to keep up with, but they could smile and be kind to the patrons. I asked for a little less lettuce and 2 different chicken meats..... you would have thought I asked for the unthinkable. . I went with a kale and spinach mix, black and green olives, sunflower seeds, eggs, strawberries, cranberries, cucumbers and tomatoes. The balsamic vinaigrette dressing isn't that good though. Finally tried salata and it was delicious. I like the abundance of selections that they offer it's kind of like a chipotle so you get to pick different selections to go in your salad. Great experience getting salad from here. Order was placed online and was ready (and correct) when we picked it up. It's nice that, unlike other salad places, you can pretty much add as many toppings as you want, and (other than proteins) there's only a few ingredients that cost extra. Salads end up being around $11-13 each, and are huge. Ingredients were fresh, and everything tasted great. They don't toss the dressing in the salad, so you have to do that yourself. Also, the little cups of dressing are really small, so get a second if you really like your dressing. read more

Even after I moved to Houston I searched for Salata and enjoyed it but this one at The Shops at Legacy is the best location! Easy to order online and pickup your order. Salads, soups, wraps, cookies, drinks, etc. It is the perfect place to grab a quick and healthy option during lunch or after work for a healthy and lite option for dinner. I usually order shrimp or the salmon. Everything is kept fresh and you can pick all of your toppings and the kind of greens you want. Today I picked the Salata mix with extra spinach and added shrimp (grilled) with chopped onion, olives, green peas, chick peas, hard boiled egg, and Parmesan. Yum! You can ask for the dressing on the side. Today, I asked for herb vinaigrette. All of the calories are listed by each salad item, protein and dressing. I didn't know what to expect when I walked in here because of the set up. It reminded me of subway except you are ordering a salad the way you want it. They had a few options of salad mixes, options of protein(chicken, shrimp, tofu, etc), and then the fixings. I started off with the spring mix and spinach mix, order the chipotle chicken and then added my toppings. They stick everything in a large metal bowl, and then they mix the salad up. The chipotle chicken was amazing! The salad was really fresh, I ate every bit of it. I ordered a cup of tomato basil soup to go with it, and it was really fresh. Let me begin with this big disclaimer: Salad isn't my thing. I started a weight management program a little over a year ago, and have lost 90 lbs while eating almost no salads. But, I'm also on a quest to eat at every restaurant at Shops at Legacy, so Salata had to come at some point. That day was today. But how to eat at Salata without getting a salad? I selected the wrap with romaine hearts, Hatch chile, red onion, cabbage (for crunch only), corn, cilantro, black beans, mixed cheese, chopped bacon, avocado, chipotle ranch dressing and a double shot of spicy chipotle chicken, all on a Southwest tortilla. The kicker: An instruction to omit the lettuce. The result? A nearly saladless salad, see my photo for proof. :) How did it taste? Pretty good. The multigrain pita chips had a good crunch, but could have used a bit more salt. I managed to work in enough spicy ingredients to result in a fairly spicy end product, the cheese and dressing helped on the cooldown. The wrap itself seemed a little dry, but the ingredients therein were fresh. I might have gotten a little far away from the obvious Southwest theme with the bacon, but on the flipside, the bacon is very flavorful, none of that sissy stuff here. For a meal that was really only intended to check a place off of a list, it was fairly good, with the tortilla and the chips being the only things that held it back a little. This place discriminates blatantly against pregnant women. I came here to buy takeout, having been a loyal Salata customer for years. However, the staff here refused to provide a separate box for just the lettuce for me (with the toppings / dressing on the side) so that I can safely wash it and eat it at home, despite my explaining the medical reasons I need to do so during my pregnancy. (Due to recent pregnancy guidelines, my doctor has recommended I wash salads to prevent the risk of listeria before eating them to be safe and avoid harming my unborn baby. Therefore, per medical advice, I asked for my lettuce on the side.). I was absolutely appalled at the rude attitudes of the staff and their refusal to accommodate a simple politely worded request and their discriminatory practices against pregnant women. I had no choice but to walk out without buying anything, since they refused to accommodate during my pregnancy. There was also no one else in the restaurant, and it took a long time before the staff came over to see what I wanted to order - they were busy chatting over in the corner..so it isn't because they were too busy with other customers to accommodate (there was no one else there). There was also a huge stack of empty salad boxes / to-go containers available. I felt as a pregnant woman like I was being treated like a second class citizen. I like the concept of this being like a healthy Chipotle, but the salad was overall pretty average. I would give it 4 stars, but the service was a little disappointing. I think they skimped out on the portions a little too. My salad bowl was not even 3/4 full. When my friend asked about the portions being a little small, the cashier just stared at us. You start off with choosing your greens base and then go down the line and choose your toppings. They mix everything in a metal bowl with tongs before putting your custom salad into a plastic box if you are taking it to go. The banners were erected and the helium balloons were strung up, to signal the pending arrival of a new food place. If I meandered by staff would plead with me to come and try it out when they opened. The place opened early this week and I thought Id wait a few days for all the saw dust to settle before trying them. As a self acclaimed meat eater I thought "Meeeh.. its just a salad place", however today I gave them the benefit of the doubt My low expectations were pleasantly exceeded. The place was buzzing with a good lunch crowd of both health nuts and fat people wanting to get skinny. (Hey easy on the blue cheese there ma'am) It is a buffet style "build your own" salad or wrap joint where servers construct your lunch to your specifications. I went for the salad option with a lot of salady trimmings that I would not normally buy for myself at home. Beets, radishes, sun dried tomatoes etc. topping that off with the ginger lime dressing and Asian BBQ'd chicken and some sesame seed crunchy things. It was BITCHIN! My first visit.... Using my groupon I picked up food to go. I suggest going early to avoid the crowds and to find a parking spot. The food is fresh, the place is super clean and there was an abundance of choices. It was difficult with all the different options but the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a salad wrap with chicken, black beans, sprouts and a whole array of other goodies. I was offered samples of the dressings and different chicken options. If they don't offer up the samples be sure to ask. Everything was extremely tasty and so fresh. The portions were large I thought. The soup (tortilla) had a good flavor but definitely needs some chicken added to it. Next time I'll try that. Without the groupon the prices could get a little high, for what I had it's about $10 which included the chicken. I've already been back and this time I had a salad and ate inside. Still big portions and all the same great choices. The same friendly and helpful staff the dining area isn't very big and only 4 or 5 tables outside so the eating area filled up quickly. The low walls did make it somewhat uncomfortable as you see the incoming crowds scoping out the place looking for a place to sit. My friend and I were barely done when another customer was hovering around our table and asked if we were leaving as soon as we showed signs of being ready to leave. My FIRST TIME going, heard SO MUCH about this place and it was rather tasty...VERY FRESH, SO MANY options, which I LOVE! I walked in and had no idea how the process went. The young man that worked there was glad to explain it to me, told me all the options for the greenery, the veggies, the dressings, the meats, so much to choose from, and I had no problem with that. I tell you what, they don't skimp or cheat you on ANYTHING. The one thing that I LOVED was that all of the chicken, meat & seafood options were seasoned for extra taste. I decided to go light and get marinated shrimp and crab. The crab was so sweet and succulent and they were BIG chunks. The shrimp was juicy, plump and fresh. DELICIOUS! Here's my take. Overall I felt that the experience was okay. $8 gets you a vegetarian salad, meats are an extra charge. I was impressed by the number of toppings, and completely turned off by the stingy application of said toppings. 2 tbsp of salad dressing is probably also accurate. I am not a dressing drowner, but i too felt that the amount of dressing is unreasonably small. One reviewer said 5 corn kernels and based on my experience, I believe it. $3 for a few cubes of chicken is ridiculous. I think the lady felt bad and added a bit more after I elected to add an avocado to my salad. How much is the avocado you ask? ONE DOLLAR for a QUARTER of an avocado! I get and respect that a business needs to make money but holy cow. Another major problem I had was with my bowl. You get a big ol stainless steel bowl for your order. Unfortunately, the outside of my bowl was grimy and gritty to the touch, and was visibly dirty in spots. Having said this, I have to assume the inside of my bowl was also gross. All in all, I paid $12 for a salad with maybe 3 ounces of chicken and a quarter of one avocado. I wouldn't call that sky high pricing, but it sure isnt a deal either. I dont think I'll be back here again, but who knows. The taste of the salad was quite good overall. If I do return, I'll insist on checking the cleanliness of the bowl first. read more
