Not warm or inviting, I should have taken my cue when it was close to 2 and I noticed not a soul dining in. Not a place I would want to stay at, just wanted to give this place a try. Appeared to be clean. The chicken and spinach quiche (chicken not marinated or seasoned) and tomato soup was meh, the carrot and zucchini muffin is moist with a nice flavor. The pasta salad with crab meat prepared well. Nice portions. I might've been willing to come back to try other things if the environment had been welcoming. We loooove Cafe Max. The staff is always so friendly and kind. I love how when their restaurant part isn't open they have a separate area to just order food and go. Their food and portions never disappoint. My 3 year old requested the Caesar and fruit and he looooved it! My husband and I always get the chicken and pasta. It tastes SO good together and you would never expect apples and pecans to go with chicken but omg. My favorite. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is for the to go container..it was so flimsy the food fell in the bag hence the messy look in the picture with the salad trio. But I so appreciate how much food she gave because it became 2-3 meals easily. Will be back as always! read more

Very basic restaurant with the most amazing caesar salad. I stopped by for the first time this week after hearing of their salads. I got a container full of 1/2 caesar and 1/2 pasta salad. If you like salad...more salad than you can possibly eat...and you haven't been here, your life is incomplete. I was originally introduced to Cafe Max many years ago when I worked in Richardson. If there are better salads anywhere, I haven't had them. I don't know anyone who has ever been here who says that someone else has a better version. The salads are that good. Cafe Max is still holding it down after all these years. Quality and flavor has never wavered. I have been coming to Cafe Max for nearly 10 years now and have never once had a bad experience. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. They will even let you try one of the salads to make sure you are getting what you like! I usually stick to the salad trio, the portions are HUGE and consistent. If you want to try a bit of everything then i would go for the Salad Sampler that way you can get a taste of all of the salads and pick your favorites for next time. They offer a daily soup as well, you can check their website to see what they are serving for the day. Cafe Max offers catering and to go orders, they have recently re-opened their dining room after being closed for quite some time due to covid. They are only open during lunch hours and no longer offer any later pick ups so make sure to get their before 3pm or you will be missing out! I was looking around and saw the reviews and thought ok the place doesn't really scream I'm here but everyone seems to like it so I gave it a chance. It was great. Menu was simple which I appreciate. I liked the cucumber salad and Caesar salad enough to visit a second time. The second time, the lady finished ringing me up, and just went to wipe down tables. I looked around a bit to realize what happened and then reached over the counter to grab my food and leave. I just greeted the gentleman and the lady and ordered my food. I forgot this place even existed. My mother and I used to go to one in a different city which we found out had been closed for YEARS. I was in the area to pick up a dress and we stopped to get some lunch. Because of COVID they are only doing to go and only allow about 4 people inside at one time. It was just how we remembered it. There are different six salads you can get; as well as soups, sandwiches, and quiche. I got to duo salad (chicken and Caesar) and my mom got the salad trio (seafood, pasta, and Caesar). All of there salads are great. They are full of flavor and the portions are generous. I am glad that we found this place again. Cafe max is always a weak spot for me - I really enjoy their cafe trio (choice of three salads). The gentleman who does the serving is quite generous with the serving size and can very easily be made into two meals (I usually end up eating it for 2.5-3 meals). I ordered the trio with seafood, potato, and pasta, which I think costs around $11. The chicken is also delicious, but I haven't had the seafood in a while, so I decided to order that this time around. I will not order the pasta next time- it tasted a tad too strong for my tastes and would possibly order the cucumber or vegetable salad! My friend ordered the cafe sampler (taste of all 8), and the Caesar salad was a little more sour than usual, and I think it was because there was more dressing this time than normal. It is a really good deal at a little under $9. A lot of it is self-serve, so you grab your own utensils, drink, and to-go box when you leave!
