I'm very impressed by the bread at Bread Head! The sandwiches are messy, but the bread is so good and really acts as the star of the sandwich. The fillings are just the icing on top! My friend and I got the Cuban and the Combo Grinder to share, and I thought both were very well seasoned, well packed with food, and very delicious. The cost of these sandwiches is a bit pricy, but I think they're worth the splurge to try every now and then. I also have to shout out the service at this location. I came around 15 minutes to closing when the staff was getting ready to clean up, and they still happily took my order and got it out quickly and without errors. I really appreciated that! read more

My daughter and I tried Bread Head in Westwood for the first time and it was such a great find. We were already out in the city for a pedicure appointment and were hungry. My daughter was specifically craving a good sandwich. I yelped "sandwiches" and Bread Head popped up first with solid 4 star reviews so we decided to give it a shot. So glad we did. It's located right on Westwood Blvd and we got lucky with curbside parking directly out front. Inside the place is cute and quaint. Not huge but comfortably sized to seat about 10 to 15 people. It wasn't busy when we walked in but definitely picked up after we ordered which I always take as a good sign. Being near UCLA there's a steady mix of college students and business folks coming through. Jasper took our order and was a really cool guy. Friendly easygoing and welcoming. I ordered the Reuben which is pastrami with Swiss cheese sauerkraut pickled peppers Russian dressing fresh horseradish and everything spice and it was fucking delicious. Every bite hit. My daughter got the tuna salad sandwich and absolutely loved it too. Our favorite part hands down was the bread. Fresh flavorful and clearly made to stand up to the fillings. It really makes the sandwich. In the middle of everything I realized I had forgotten my wallet. We had to wait a bit for our order because they were baking a fresh batch of bread but it was so worth it. The bread is perfectly crispy on the outside but chewy and fluffy on the inside. It's located right next to the Kreation so parking may be tricky if you're driving but walkable if you live in the Westwood area but if not can always look for paid parking elsewhere. Two individual tables insides with long table and stools on the opposite side. Steady flow of business when I went for lunch but no issues with getting a spot to sit. Got the combo grinder. Their sandwiches use a focaccia bread so just watch out for the crispy exterior! Wish that maybe they have different breads so you can opt for bread with softer/more pillowy interior but just a personal preference. The vegetables, especially the iceberg lettuce, were fresh and crisp with a generous layer of meat. The perfect amount of pickled bell peppers to help cut through the meat and cheese and carbs. I am all for breadhead at this location. I've made some online orders while traveling to and from the hospital for the past 2 months and it's been a gift. The team working there is always a gift -- they're busy making the orders but always have a smile on their face and greet you warmly no matter how busy their day has been (honestly hard to come by these days!) There was a day where I ended up leaving a bit later than planned and the walk was a bit further than I saw on the map and they called and lvm to check in that I was picking up! And when I called back, they were far from irritated! It's honestly these little moments that make up the day, the moment, the experience. Also, their bread is made fresh in house everydayyy (is what I read) -- not a fan of foccacia but someone shared it's like an in between of foccacia and something else, but it's light, fluffy, airy, but has that crisp exterior and not too salty or too bread-y. Ingredients are also so fresh and this is probs top rated on my sandwich list and I only have 3, including this spot! I've had so many of their sandwiches: best BLT I've ever had w/ light mayo, horse radish in the Roast Beef is very light, but even for non-veggie lovers, this is a good choice! I decided to try the turkey pesto, but I was intrigued by their hot special for today which was a Reuben. I was helped right away and my sandwich came out fast. The bread tasted like a focaccia bread that was crispy on the outside. The pesto was delicious and there was a variety of texture in the bite which I appreciated. The sandwich was a good size and it was more than enough food on its own for lunch, I didn't need any sides. I also noticed some people splitting a sandwich between two people so I wasn't the only one who thought the sandwich was pretty big. I love Bread Head sandwiches, so I decided to try their breakfast menu. I got the smoked salmon sandwich with capers, the Cowboy burrito, & the vanilla iced coffee with oat milk. The smoked salmon sandwich was great - on the traditional Bread Head bread, so it was a great crunch on the exterior but soft on the inside. IMO, the format was better than a bagel exterior. What was really good in the sandwich was the radish sprouts. They gave a heftier crunch than a thinner sprout and helped balance out the smoked salmon. Next time, I might try with avo. The Cowboy burrito was really tasty. The slices of provolone gave a nice, thick layer of cheese. The meat was tender and seasoned well. The burrito came with salsa verde & I think the Calabrian mayo? Adding both really complimented the burrito. The vanilla iced coffee was perfect. Just the right amount of vanilla so it wasn't too sweet and just the right amount of oatmilk.
