I may be a little biased, but I'm also leaving an honest review. I've known Ray since he was selling paintings on the Venice boardwalk. His food is always fresh, tasty, high quality, generous portions, and most importantly, made with a smile. The Agua Frescas are so refreshing on a hot day, the breakfast burritos are big enough for two meals, the burgers are grilled to perfection, and the teriyaki bowls are delicious.

So we ordered a western bacon cheese burger and a cheese burger and fries. We cot a coke and a 50cent cup of ice for the coke. The order taker was very pleasant. The service was somewhat quick. At about 10 -15 minutes. Rays charbroiled the burgers which is a huge plus. Charbroiled is always better!! The fries were mediocre. The ice cold coke was fantastic lol. If you are on the west side and are looking for a great little hole in the wall burger and lots of other stuff kinda joint. Both burgers were very tasty. Really good.

One of my boys hadn't ever eaten at Ray's. His brothers and I always raved about it so today was his chance! As expected Ray greeted us warmly and was excited Hayden was finally getting a chance at his food. Today's feast was awesome. I truly believe there is no room for improvement. Ray is the GOAT of Teriyaki! See you again soon.

Stopped in to this to-go burger spot for my first time and really enjoyed it. They have a large menu and portions. Service was quick, everything that we ordered was cooked well and had some great flavor. Parking can be tricky in this part of town depending on the time, but I was able to find street parking one block away. Everything that we ordered came out really fast and pricing is fair. This is not a sit down and eat kind of place, it is designed for to go, which is what I chose to do for this first visit. I chose the Patty Melt and added avocado because it's filled with cheese and large patties. It had some great seasoning on the meat and the bread was perfectly toasted. The french fries on the side weren't my favorite but still enjoyable. I would recommend and visit again in the future to try different items.

Fresh water menu and Pickup food counter

You don't go wrong in this place, from food to service it's amazing!! My favorite is the classic chicken teriyaki spicy sauce , I heard great things about the pastrami sandwich with egg and bacon so it's on my bucket list (update when I try it). Also their fresh water are great too! Thank you Ray and staff !!

Good food great service and nice ambiance, highly recommended and budget friendly. I normally order on ubereats and doordash and everything arrives hot fresh and perfectly packed

Amazing burger and service definitely recommend this spot. I would come back again, way better than bonbon burger around the corner that they are too expensive and they even took 50 minutes to make my food one time and I never got the food. Ray's is definitely a superior option and the better neighborhood restaurant to spend your money at.

    Breakfast Burrito w/ Avocado
    Emerly

I ordered the Breakfast Burrito for pickup and they had it ready in no time! Tortilla is really good, can tell it's hand made. The peppers and avocado were great with the burrito as well! The person taking our order was very nice and there are seats outside where you can sit and enjoy your food :) Probably one of my favorite breakfast burritos near UCLA. 10/10 will be coming back again! fyi: They take card and cash but prefer cash. If your order is less than $20 there is a $0.50 surcharge for card.

Came to Rays for lunch and decided to get their tater tots supreme. Let me start off by saying I heard nothing but great things about Rays. The tots though were ehh. Huge let down, especially since many people were raving about this place. I give the tots a 4/10. They were fried a little too long the mayo was overpowered by the amount of cheese n them. They were really nothing special. Now that doesn't mean I won't be back to try other menu items and update my review. Plenty of seating outside expect to wait around 5-10 minutes for your food.

It's pretty cool that I only live a few blocks away from this place. The first time I came here it took a good amount of time for my food to be ready but I guess that's how you know it's made to order. It's pretty much a stand you walk up to and then there's some outdoor seating. This recent time I went I called ahead to put an order in. By the time I got there it was ready so I'll probably do this moving forward. I got the cheesesteak which was really good and I'll probably keep trying different things on the menu.

Pastrami and egg cheese melt (requested for no cheese)
    Kris H.

I ordered the pastrami, egg, and cheese melt. I requested for no cheese in my sandwich. The order was made fresh and super quick! I really enjoyed the sandwich. It is a shareable size as well! I'm not sure how this spot is usually with the crowd throughout the day since I stopped by when they first opened. There wasn't a line at the time. The shop/stall offers a to-go or dine in option. If you opt to dine-in, they have a couple seats right outside the stall.

Western bacon cheeseburger, or whatever they call it.

The food was so delicious! I wish we lived near there so we could go more often. We stopped on the way home from LAX. Totally recommend it.

We stopped in on a Sunday around 11:30, no line and very quick service! Finished eating and left around 12:05 so we must've lucked out with no line. We got two double cheese burgers and the loaded fries. The burger had impressively thin patties with a really nice char on the meat skirt, well seasoned, and perfectly crispy. The buns were quite small and a bit smooshed, but they were soft. It came with some fry sauce and pickles as well, overall a good burger. The fries had a good amount of toppings (cheese onions, fry sauce) and were nice and crispy. Kinda wish the onions were slightly more grilled for some extra flavor! Would probably go for plain next time as the loaded fries and burger together had similar flavors The interior has a few benches for seating and single bar type seating around the perimeter - I could see it filling up if there's a big line of people. Therefore, my brain could hardly differentiate between a McDonalds burger, and the "best" burger in LA. I haven't eaten at McDonalds in 14 years, but my mind still knew what a gentle and warm face looks like. So overall, it was alright! As the reverend Shane Gillis says "Not Bad". The service was good tho. And the ambiance was a bit weird because the music was off. Haha bye!!!

Parking: Street parking was super easy on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to pull up right in front and park on the street. There is a Super A across the street and ample parking around for free. Ambiance & Food: This reminds me of an old school burger stand. Those were the best burgers and this one did not stop that trend. As I walked up, we were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of what which burger. They did have specials (I will get to that in a second) which we were intrigued, but for the sake of perspective, I ordered the Goldburger and both regular fries and curly fries with a bottle coke. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. I went ahead and dipped the fries in some homemade Aioli and dang, what a combo! Back to those specials, the current special is CHILI, I was intrigued so they gave me a small container of it to try. Man, if I wasn't watching my caloric intake, that would have been the move. It was rich and chunky and not to soggy which some always comes. Give it a try as they said it will be around for sometime. Other than burgers, they do have hot dogs as well. So worth trying both next time. To be perfectly honest, this brought back so much nostalgia for me, I used to go to school in the area and this brought a lot of those memories back. The DH is probably one of the best chonky burgers I've had in a long time. It reminded me of an elevated fancy Big Mac in the best way possible, probably because of the sesame bun. The dry aged patty was so juicy, flavourful and umami. The patty was seared to perfection with a caramelized crispy exterior and an incredibly succulent center. They have their own parking lot, but it's quite limited. Looks like part of it was under construction for expansion. Here's what I ordered: TATOR TOTS - $6 Fried crispy, tossed in old bay. Exactly how it's described and they delivered it--so good! SINGLE BURGER - $9 3oz patty with cheese, butter toasted bun, mayo, chopped chilies, onion, pickles, tomato, lettuce. Solid smash burger!!!!! Nuff said. I was sad they ran out of hand pies and that I because it was the end of the day. Need to come earlier for them.

I happened to be in the area, and even though I'd already eaten, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally drop in. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back.

To say I'm super bummed is an understatement. I am so thankful that I happen to stop by for lunch and visit this location one last time. The same manager was there on the last day as when I went the first time two years ago. The staff there was always amazing, friendly, and the food was incredible. I think it was the Chinatown location that didn't work for them. However, the good news is that they do have three other locations and if you have never been, I suggest you check Kroft out if you love burgers, especially smashed. The other locations are in Long Beach, Anaheim, and Rancho Cucamonga. I wish them luck and I will definitely be stopping in their other locations if I am ever in the area.

The order pick up window person shouted my name to the kitchen each time I checked in. Finally the 3rd time they responded, they start arguing, apparently my order was done a long time ago, and it was given to someone else. It took 30min to figure out that my order had already been done and given to someone else because there was no communication between the kitchen, order staff or pick up staff. no apology, just got my food after the argument 3minutes later...Food was average, definitely not worth a 30min wait.
