4-1/2 stars. I'd been meaning to try For the Win for the longest time, and I had the chance to go for a quick lunch with my partner. We got the same order: smashed cheeseburgers with sweet potato fries. Service was nice and efficient, and we got our food within 10-15 min to enjoy on the patio. The burgers were very flavorful and very messy to eat (not complaining)! The patties were nicely-smashed, yet still had a juiciness to them. Loved that they contained onions and pickles for some additional acidity. Sweet potato fries were excellent as well, crispy and well-seasoned with salt. For the Win is a solid smash burger place, but I do wish that the buns were toasted, as they were really soft and started losing integrity the more you eat. Also not cheap at $38 for two smash burgers and two fries (including tip). Overall, I'm glad I got to try FTW, and while not my #1 favorite smash burger spot, it's up there! read more

Always such a solid spot for some smash burgers and fries. I originally tried the location in Hollywood and was so excited when I found one on the west side. I ordered my burger protein style (lettuce wrapped) and it was perfect, not too salty. Would highly recommend getting your own order of fries as I was left wanting more. Service is quick and friendly, although I would note that it seemed like they had just started receiving a lot of online orders as we were eating. Inside is clean and has a few seats for you to enjoy your burger. read more

Loveddddd For the Win! The burgers here are amazing. We walked in for lunch and were greeted by the friendly staff. The menu has multiple choice of burger options. I opted for the double cheeseburger with all the toppings. It was cooked to perfection and was large enough to feel full. Loved the inside of the restaurant as well. While it's not big, there's multiple seating options. It's pretty chill inside and great to stop for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend! read more

What a perfect smash burger...maybe a perfect burger period. And I've had a lot of burgers in my life hahaha Service was great. Only one employee behind the counter and in the kitchen when I went, but he was so kind and helpful. He also nailed my modified order with extras. Small shop. Only room for 8 single round tables. Would be hard to go in a larger group than 2 honestly. But wow, that burger. It's the one you dream about days later. The meat was tender and crumbled in just the right way with every bite. Pickles were tart and delicious. I got extra pickles and wish I ordered even more! The jalapeños were the perfect spice level for me. Not overwhelming. Great shakes. I would say for the For The Win has some of the best smash burgers in all Los Angeles. I will say that I am not a huge smash burger fan in comparison to a thick, juicy burger, especially because they are a Midwest tradition and I am from California, however, I really do enjoy these burgers. The patties are seasoned well and the edges of all the patties are perfectly crispy, and the potato buns are a nice touch. I've been to a few other FTW locations and will say that this one is a bit easier to park at given the pay lot next-door or the metered street parking all around. The order was ready within 15 minutes and the staff was friendly when I went inside. The shop itself is extremely tiny so this location is for to go versus a sit down and eat type of place. They don't have a very large menu but everything on it is consistently good and I would highly recommend to any burger fan. read more

Solid smash burger, decent crispy fries, and awesome shake that tastes like ice cream and whipped cream and little else. This particular location has all of the flavors down but the burger patty's edges don't have the same fine laced edge that stand out like they do at other locations. The seating area inside is comfortable but the floor has a slippery layer of grease. Sitting outside allows for some excellent people and dog watching but can be disruptive when cars park next to your table and you need to move your seat or table to allow passengers to exit. read more

Enjoyed my meal but this place has a few caveats, first and foremost they are very focused on smash burgers. They don't go crazy thin here, which to me is good as I prefer a meatier patty as opposed crisper one, and the French fries are more skinny and quite good. The other menu items, well, if you like deep fried, the Brussels sprouts are pretty good. Obviously if you're not a fan of burgers and deep fried veggies, it's not a good fit. The other major consideration is they're pretty small inside, and the seating basically does a group of 3 tops on some tiny table/bench combo. So so long as you keep your expectations to fit the situation, they are pretty good. If you've got a big group or whatnot, then to-go is probably the right call, especially you have a short enough drive that your fries won't get cold. read more

Finally got to try this place out after much hype. Orderd a triple smash with cheese and some fries and boy it was pretty bomb. The cheese, grilled onions, and pickle was delicious as the meat was cooked perfectly. I do feel that the triple is a bit gratituous as I appreciate the staff giving me tons of napkins since the burger is so juicy. Inside is very small as this is not the spot for large parties but great for small pow wow. Now the cons, ranch charge for $0.75 as well as no fountain sodas. Parking is not the best. Also pretty pricey. Overall not a bad place to splurge a bit and eat some bomb burgers. 4/5 read more

This is my second time having For the Win. I first had it in Hollywood a few years ago and thought it was... fine. It definitely gets a lot of hype so I thought I would try it again. And this time I thought it was... also fine. Look, the double cheeseburger came out hot and fresh and all that so no complaints there. I did add bacon, lettuce and tomato because I generally find just meat-cheese-bread burgers too plain. But the lettuce and tomato added were totally underwhelming (like one sad piece of lettuce and one sad slice of tomato). The bacon was serviceable. My issue is the burger just lacks anything that takes it to another level. Two days prior, I had NADC burger in Westwood and that place kicked everything up a notch to create a cohesive burger profile (but, yes, it is a few dollars more expensive). This place tasted fine but it just didn't really come together for me. I also got an order of fries which also were... underwhelming. They were merely serviceable. I also did get screwed on the portion--it really was like... half a portion. I had actually ordered to eat in but everything got put in a bag to go and I think that affected the portion (I compared to what other people who were eating in got). In normal circumstances, I would complain but there was a whole issue of another customer who was just being very annoying the whole time to the staff (through no fault of the restaurant--and the staff were trying their best to deal with him) but I just didn't want to deal with it with that guy there. Anyways, it's not a "bad" burger. But for me, it just doesn't take it to another level. read more

I found For The Win on Heyla and I'm so glad I did. From the first bite, you can tell they're serious about burgers. The patty was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and had that crispy sear on the outside that makes all the difference. The bun was soft but held everything together (no soggy mess halfway through ). The toppings were fresh, the sauce had just the right kick, and the fries were hot and crispy. The vibe is casual and no-frills -- it's all about the food. Service was quick and friendly, and everything came out fresh. If you're scrolling Heyla looking for your next burger spot, this is it. Definitely coming back to try more from the menu. read more

Awesome little spot in West La!! Smash burgers were on point and juicy. Not dried out at all like some other spots. All the burgers come with grilled onions, pickles and an amazing sauce. After having the Hollywood original locations you just can't get anything better than that i suppose. I now live on the west side and was so excited when dislocation popped up . I was literally anticipating it. But after having come and tasting it no different from your average burger. But you are paying an arm and a leg for it an arm and a leg for it. Where were the crispy edges? Where was that flavor that I remember? Yeah after that i decided not to order any fries because I imagined I'd also be disappointed. Well, food on the west side is in all that good what was I thinking believing this would change the game? Oh well... FTW is one of the best burgers in LA. Only issue are the prices. These cheeseburgers are quite small. At $10 one can easily put down 3-4 burgers. If they were to adjust the prices a little bit, this fast food joint could easily become a weekly lunch or dinner option. As of right now, this is a place I'd take someone visiting LA, but it's a little pricey to justify regular patronage. read more

Ordered food for the family and instead of veggie burgers they gave us a stack of unmelted American cheese on a bun. It was inedible. Would've preferred telling us they were out of patties instead of coming home to find out I didn't have dinner for half the family. read more

I've had burgers from Habit In and Out, HiHo, Fatburger, Fathers Office, The Counter and others. Finally decided to try this one. Definitely don't order at Kiosk. The wait time is excruciating. Then you get a burger in a little box that is smaller than HiHo. It's OK, but not special. Not sure why it gets such rave reviews. However, the sweet potato fries are excellent only second best to FO. For the orice not sure it was worth the drive nor the wait. read more

What a great new spot on the westside. Velentino cooked up some great food and the whole crew loved it, which is saying something for this fickle bunch. Definitely a must try. Amd the friendly service was something else. It's easy to see why such care goes into the food. read more
