This hole in the wall place is really good! I ordered an avocado burger combo with fries and an agua fresca. I really like that they make their burgers fresh when ordered and it was delicious. I saw that a lot of people also liked their breakfast burritos and teriyaki bowls, so I'll have to try that next time! read more

Rays was delicious! So good that I have no photo evidence. Living on the west side I'm surprised I haven't heard of this little gem sooner. In a world where burger stands are disappearing, Rays thrives! I love burger stands, and this one, THIS ONE, is cranking out delicious food. I ordered a pastrami burger and I was expecting it to be a normal size, NOPE that this was massive . Absolutely massive and delicious! We also ordered a breakfast burrito that was filled with sausage, grilled peppers, tomato, potato and 3 types of cheese. Service was good, food was delicious, can't wait to come again! Really awesome neighborhood spot, that is definitely overlooked. Only open until about 3-4pm, so don't expect dinner. It's a small spot with a walk up window to order and some stools/counter seating on the sidewalk. But make no mistake, these burgers are awesome. Chargrilled and just the right balance between a thick burger and thin patty. A double burger is really big- add bacon to make it even better. The seasoning is perfect- nothing fancy, and just the right amount of pepper. Teriyaki plates are also good, and a decent portion size for $10. The beef is sliced ribeye which is good quality. Definitely added some hot sauce to mine for extra flavor. Fries are skinny and salted to perfection. Overall, great spot to score an "old school" burger and fries done right for around $10. Fantastic local grill and teryaki spot, with GENEROUS portions and reasonable prices - basically extinct combo in West LA. The food is quality and made to order - with my current obsession being the Beef + Chicken Teri plate w/ Agua Fresca. I appreciate getting to add just about anything I want to the plate (or burgers / sandos), which usually nets me an extra fried egg or slice of grilled pineapple. Fantastic. It was too cold to sit and eat our lunch, but we enjoyed it to go. My daughter devoured her hamburger, I quite enjoyed the pastrami melt, and my wife inhaled her teriyaki chicken. The fries are really tasty. Everything is a bit on the heavy/greasy side, but tastes really good. read more

This is an underrated fast food spot, and reminds me of the places I grew up with on the other side of LA. You can tell that the owner puts a lot of thought and creativity into the food, and it definitely shows. My absolute favorite item is the teriyaki chicken plate. As one of my all-time favorite comfort foods, I can honestly say that this one stacks up well against the best of them. The chicken at Ray's is seriously cooked perfectly, and goes so well with the rice. I'm also a big fan of the spicy turkey bacon melt, which is seriously a gorgeously constructed sandwich. The featured image on Yelp looked so good, and it did not disappoint. And this is coming from someone who never eats turkey except on Thanksgiving. The tuna melt is similarly legendary. I will also give a shout to the breakfast burrito, which is great if you love potatoes like I do. The grilled bell peppers and onions are such a nice touch, and make it feel just a little healthier than it really is. I like the salsa a lot, although I always reach for the ketchup for breakfast. If there's a miss, I am not crazy about the fries. They're a little limp and could use more salt. I prefer the excellent onion rings or hash browns if I'm looking for a side, but other than that there's a lot to love at Ray's. read more

Excellent home in the wall. Hidden gem. Double bacon cheeseburger and double burger-Excellent! Great seasoning! Spicy Turkey Bacon Melt-thumbs up! Chicken teriyaki-ok. Spicy beef teriyaki-ok. It's crazy how people compare this type of places with restaurants and complain about seats or something else deciding how many stars to give:)) It's a small spot but they manage to serve you a nice food. Some of those Elite viewers should be banned not allowed to review anymore:)) Lovely spot. It's outside seating only, like at the bar. But food was great. I love burgers but I hate when it's super oily , fat and with bunch of ingredients. because when it's simple you can feel if ingredients are fresh. I had bacon double cheese and it was delicious. It's not the lightest burger to eat but after I finished it, I didnt have any heavy weight in my stomach. Service was nice and kind. Bookmarked the place :) read more

They are doing justice to the good old neighborhood burger stand. I first tried their Denver omelette and was convinced I would find other delicious meals on their menu. I now tried the western bacon burger with fries and a coke for $16 and I don't regret it one bit. This is the type of burger you pace yourself with because you can't leave any leftovers. Super filling and super good! read more

Hearty Deli is open weekdays 8am-4pm. Their most popular items are burgers and teriyaki chicken. I tried a sample of the teriyaki chicken and really enjoyed the peppery savory flavor. It's a large portion that comes with white rice. Watch out for the spicy pickled peppers! Cheesesteak also comes with fries and a soda. Breakfast burritos are also recommended. read more
