I was craving a good smash burger, so when I saw For The Win on Uber Eats offering a Buy One, Get One (BOGO) deal with fast delivery, I was sold. Excluding delivery fees from the app, I paid $14.25, which I would find reasonably priced for lunch in LA. I ordered the BOGO cheeseburger deal along with a side of sweet potato fries. Everything arrived well-packaged--no leaks or messes, and plenty of napkins and sauce packets were included. When I think of a smash burger, I expect a thin, crispy patty with a flavorful crust. Unfortunately, the patties here were relatively thick and lacked the crispy edges typically associated with a smash burger. The beef itself was fairly bland and relied heavily on the sauce for flavor. That said, I was happy with the generous amount of cheese, onions, and pickles on each burger. The sweet potato fries were the highlight of the meal. They arrived crispy, well-seasoned, and in a generous portion. No complaints there. Overall, my meal from For The Win was filling but underwhelming. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing stood out enough to make me eager to order again. If it weren't for the online deals and quick delivery, I probably wouldn't have chosen this spot, and that sentiment remains after trying it. Found this place online saying it's the best smash burger spot in LA so I had to try it. This location has some street parking nearby and inside is a simple casual burger spot. There's seating if you choose to eat there but I got my food to go. The staff were fine, not overly welcoming but not rude either. I ordered 2 double cheese burgers, a fry, and brussel sprouts. The food came out quickly. My boyfriend loved the burger, mine was okay. I felt it had too many burnt ends on mine but it is a smash burger so I know that can happen. The fries and brussel sprouts were good. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you haven't already. read more

So my go-to smash burger is Hi-Ho in Santa Monica, and that's a tough act to follow. BUT, this new upstart popped up in almost walking distance so of course I had to demo it out. Upshot is the burgers are great and the fries are awesome. Pros: Great burger, killer fries. Cons: Uncomfortable space with awkward seating and harsh lighting (won't matter for takeout, sux for date night). Generic ketchup; just wrong. Can't get a cup of water, have to buy. No alcohol; bring your own? Burger comes with "secret sauce"; please, no (you can omit, this ain't Father's Office ). No desserts, but yes shakes. Brentwood Village parking. It's free in SM. Bottom line: Food is tops, ancillaries not so much. You decide, but it's def worth checking out. read more

As someone else noted, the place could definitely stand to be spruced up a bit. During my visit, one of the tables was left disgustingly dirty. It looked like a bunch of small children had recently sat there, as there was food all over the table and floor. However, the staff didn't seem to notice or care about cleaning it, despite the restaurant not being busy. (I was the only customer in there at the time.) That said, I'd come back for the food.
