Was so excited to hear there's an LA spot offering Dutch Crunch. That's one of my favorite breads for sandwiches. Unfortunately, there was a lack of a crunch in this sandwich. I love the hefty portion of meat and slaw that was in this sandwich but I thought it was a little too acidic for my liking. The staff were welcoming! They were patient as we were deciding what to order. They were also accommodating when we asked if they could cut the sandwich in 3's so we can all share. The store is a bit hard to find but they have a sign posted in front that advertise that they sell sandwiches. There's paid street parking in front and around the store. Recently my collegue who's also a sandwich fan, recommended me Ghost Sando. It's interestingly felt like confirmation sign given I've had it on my list, just haven't put it on priority list. July 4th it is, my first attempt trying Ghost Sando. It wasn't overly busy around noon, but I could see a ton of people ordered ahead online. The bright turquoise themed spot was like Tiffany's but made it sandwich place LOL. I've been going through people's review on the place, which were pretty diversed in terms of the top reco; some were from the hot selections, some the cold ones. Knowing their menu was pretty rich, it's such blessing that the attendant was super helpful in trying to explain and assisting me making choice. Apparently the difference between hot and cold wasn't the matter of one being toasted and other not (per my guesstimate), but more about the stuffing (protein & cheese) each featured. I went for the 'Howdy', which was served with uber generous amount of chicken breast slices and thick cut bacon. I felt I did get good balance on my veggie doze there looking at the equally thick layer of lettuce it carried. This one came with their Howdy sauce, basically the house's sweet barbeque, along with melted mozzarella cheese. If you're fond of the kind of sandwich with rich toppings and only light touch of sauce, this would definitely be your cup of tea. Overall it was delightful, but if I could I would fancy slightly more cheese there. Size to prize was certainly worthy IMO as their standard Large size was already super filling for me. They did have XL and XXL, which featured even EXTRA HAPPINESS (READ: more meat and cheese). For me the highlight was surprisingly their iconic Toasted Dutch Crunch Roll, YES THEIR BREAD! Stopped by after seeing on Yelp that they use Dutch Crunch bread--I was hoping the sandwiches would be similar to Subculture in Huntington Beach. We are big sandwich people at heart and loved that there was a variety of hot and cold sandwiches on the menu. I guess for $9.50 this isn't a terribly small portion. I do feel their Uber eats deal is a little deceptive because generally when Uber eats has a two for one deal you're getting a regularly sized item for free. When you purchase the 2 for 1 $18.88 deal from Ghost sando shop, you're just getting a reasonable amount of food for the price, you're not getting a deal. It's too very small sandwiches for 20 bucks. Definitely think their new sizing chart is terrible, the 6 inch is not a "regular" sized sandwich and an 8 inch is not an extra large. One of the big reasons you purchase these sandwiches is for the delicious bread, and I think calling an 8 inch sandwich even with extra toppings an extra large is a stretch, to put it mildly. Per the new BOGO rout you have to purchase their new 6 inch bbq "Howdy" sandwich in order to get the second sandwich of your choice. Aside from the fact that these two six inchers are just about enough to equate to one sandwich, the Howdy was not good. Drinks from the fridge could be much colder. They're just barely chilled. Still three stars because the uncle Nikki is a really yummy sandwich. Sometimes the workers are cool, sometimes they have a weird attitude for no reason. read more

It was an okay sub. It didn't wow me! I would have preferred pieces of chicken instead of slices of chicken as it would have made it taste better and given it more texture. There was a bit of a kick, but the large sandwich was not filling, especially on an empty stomach. The service was very friendly and attentive. I wasn't in love with my sandwich but if I'm ever around Fairfax & need a quick bite to go I'd be willing to try them again--just wasn't super impressed. This comes with both ham and turkey along with bacon and their house-made slaw. Nothing too complicated but the ingredients/toppings were of high-quality and very good together. The ratios is pretty on point. The price point is not the cheapest, but you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of proportions. The vibe here for lunch at least was really chill. I came in and received a warm welcome from some very helpful people. It should be also noted that I first mentally put this place on my list because I drove by and noticed how crowded it was. Yes. So much yes. I returned for a second chance and it's like this was a whole new restaurant! I tried three sandwiches today - The Uncle Nikki, Ruben's Cousin, and The Better. The favorite was definitely The Better. The roast beef was lean and tender, the sauce was slightly sweet and tangy, the veggies were fresh, and the cream cheese was the cherry on top! The Ruben's Cousin was second favorite. Juicy pastrami packed with flavor, sharp sauerkraut, delicious pickles, and all hot and melty with the cheese. And third although not at all a disappointment, the Nikki. A classic Italian with all the works, filling with flavor and quality. The bread was solid across the board.
