the food is always so delicious & tastes fresh no matter how long it's out in the display, definitely made with quality ingredients & with love :) love the workers and they're so kind with great service. the spot is a cute little space enough for a line to form & maybe do computer work. definitely recommend going on tuesdays and thursday's to get their cheddar scallion scone it's so yum & their bubble tea is so fresh & yum the taro is like no other
A small cafe providing coffee and boba to the surrounding neighborhood. Ample space to sit inside if you choose to. Ordered a jasmine milk tea with boba. Jasmine was a bit more subtle than I would've liked, but the small bit of fragrance to it was nice. The boba was chewy and sweetened so having the drink less sweet was perfect. A friendly neighborhood spot on par with chain milk tea places.
Was in the area this weekend when my bf was looking for some coffee. We stumbled upon this spot, where he got an iced americano w/ oat milk and I got an iced turmeric latte w/ almond milk. I really wanted to love this spot (since I believe it's Asian owned) and my drink, but I have to say my iced turmeric just tasted like ...milk. I know turmeric is usually pretty subtle, but the drink was super bland. Wouldn't recommend, especially for $7. Perhaps it's better as a hot drink? Bf's americano was good, standard coffee. Also interesting that the oat milk cost 40 cents while the almond was $1. We did notice the Asian buns as other reviewers had mentioned and they looked really good - didn't get to try them this time around. The cafe was pretty quiet, as we sat for a little to drink. Turmeric drink aside, would love a bakery like this closer to our neighborhood.
They make the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. It has an incredible balance of everything that makes a great cookie. The edges are crispy. The perfect amount of chocolate that's gooey. It's hearty. Not overly sweet.
This place might just have the best Thai milk tea boba I've ever had!! I only wish they were open on the weekends--I live right around the corner and would come all the time.
Ok, correction, 5 stars. I love this place. 2 important pieces for me: great americano using quality beans, and well-balanced, aromatic, chai latte. New exciting drinks. & Also, a talented barista! She has technique down, and has a signature latte art heart that matches the cute teaspoon with a heart on it. La Colombe coffee. The barista was legit. Had a nice americano and then tried a non caffeinated pea latte. It was blue, creamy, and earthy tasting. Would like to try the turmeric latte (also non caffeinated) and possibly a bun or hot dog filled bun if I were in the mood. Cute dainty spoons, with hearts on them.
Is it pricey? Heck yea. Is it worth it? Every penny. I have tried almost every coffee place in close proximity to Bread and Joe, and nothing beats them. There mocha iced coffee is ahhhmazing! The staff is always so friendly and kind. They serve the most outstadning baked items that it just blows my mind how fresh there selection is. They bake 99% of the stuff showcased. You must try anything with the bread they bake in house, and the chocolate chip cookies are just out of this world. The coffee is strong and the food is tasty. They have a card that after a certain amount of visits you get a free coffee. I did not like the matcha donuts but mostly becuase they were a bit too bitter for me. If you love matcha that is your donut. TIP: They sell out quick of the ham and egg in the morning. Cons: They charge an extra 75 cents for soy or almond milk instead of regualr milk, so a iced mocha will be almost 6 dollars with almond milk.
Cute hole in the wall with about 3 tables and seating along the window. I got an iced dirty chai which was pretty good, but I couldn't really taste the espresso. I also got nice, light and flaky chocolate croissant. I really wanted to try their matcha donuts but they were out. Next time! Four stars bc I called yesterday to see if they were open since the 3 times I've tried to visit this place they've always closed 10-15 minutes before their closing hours (M-F 6:30-5pm, Sat 8-4pm, and Sun closed). Worth a stop if you're in the area!
Cute little bakery steps away from the R train. Suitable for small groups as they have tables seating parties of two. I'd say maximum occupancy is about 8. They have a couple of baked goods..some Chinese breads (ham & egg, ham, egg, & cheese, hot dog buns. There's also a nice selection of muffins and drinks. We ordered a matcha latte, draft latte, and regular ice coffee in addition to ham egg buns. You can't go wrong with a La Colombe draft :). It was good. The matcha was pretty straight forward but if you don't like a heavy bitter matcha taste consider adding sugar to it. Its not sweet without it. The ham and egg bun was average. I'm used to the bread part having a more sweet taste to it but it was still a good snack. Prices are pretty high but it doesn't look like they have much competition in the area. I didn't notice any other Asian bakeries in the area. We paid $21 total. Would come here every now and then but it probably won't be my go to spot!
Good cold brew and nice and quiet vibes. Seems like a grab and go type of cafe but there are tables where you can read or bring a friend. No wifi sadly but otherwise, a nice rest spot on an otherwise empty avenue. Baristas at the counter were pretty nice too.
Very good matcha green tea-glazed donut with a cake consistency. It's not too sweet, and the cake texture is reasonably light. On the small size compared to what other places sell, but perfect for the richness. While the prices aren't expensive, they're of course more expensive and smaller than what you'd find in Chinatown or Sunset Park. However, I'm willing to bet the quality of ingredients is higher and the service much friendlier.
If you're tired of coffee chains like Starbucks, this is the place to check out. Bread & Joe offers you traditional beverages and more. If you want to try something new and untraditional, try the Hong Kong style milk tea and the Thai iced tea. You will not be disappointed. Also, don't forget to try their baked goods. They bake everything in-house unlike Starbucks! The matcha donut seems to be the next big thing so give it a try. Unlike the traditional donut, it's baked, not fried! Prices are very comparable to other chains so your wallet won't be hurting. Location is close to the R line so don't forget to get your Bread & Joe before you hop on the subway!

At my first visit, I told them exactly "either you guys have really good friends (gave them 5 stars on yelp) or the stuffs are really good here". I bought an egg tart (it's only a dollar!!) with some hesitancy, brought it home for snack. Even though it wasn't warm, the egg tart was still good and very delicious. I'm definitely going back for more! I also love the modern interior, great for hang out! read more

Cute spot with quick service. Their drinks are great and the pastries are a must. I'm sad they sold out on the hot dog bun today. I got the chocolate chip cookies instead which are ginormous. I guess I gotta come back tomorrow... read more

Great coffee and tea selection, I especially love their Thai ice tea. They also have a eclectic selection of donuts and breakfast sandwiches made daily on premise, for 1 dollar. Their play on a pig on a blanket is delicious. So glad this moved into south slope. read more

I have been here a few times since it's opened and ever since it has gotten a lot better in terms of the variety of beverages and buns. The red bean bun is delicious. The bread is soft with a little bit of chew. The proportion of red bean to bread is perfect with each bite having a mouthful of red bean. In terms of beverages I've had the Thai iced tea and green tea latte which were both great. I still have yet to try the other buns and beverages but so far so good. Must try! read more
Super cute place, I've been trying to look for a good matcha latte in Brooklyn so I don't have to go all the way to Bibble &Sip or Chalait so when This place opened, I was excited I would recommend the Matcha Latte which taste amazing without sweetener! We also tried: -The mango smoothie: was decent -Nutella bun: not much Nutella inside so it wasn't too sweet -Baked Matcha donut: the matcha glazing suited the baked donut well; wouldn't have been as good if it was a fried donut. Was a little too sweet for me personally The service is really nice and it a good place to just get a drink and snack and read or study. read more

I'm so happy that they finally opened! I had their signature latte- the foam is so creamy and smooth. And the brownie... Is by far the best I have ever tried- it has a light crunchy texture on the outside and super moist and gooey on the inside. Definitely coming back! read more

Been hearin abt this spot so decided to stop by when i was passin by during work. The owners greeted me and was so friendly. They took the time to name all the items they had in their glass display. I ended up getting several green tea matcha donuts and brownies. I also tried their cold brew iced coffee. Loved their coffee cos it was packed with flavor. I usually have to put 2 sugars and milk in my coffee but their coffee was so flavorful that it barely needed any sugar/milk. Their green tea matcha donut was moist and not overly sweet--just my liking. My bf enjoyed their brownies and he went back on his own to get more. The place is small but has a decent seating area for people to work on their laptop and hang out to enjoy their snacks. I see potential in this store and hope that they will continue to try new things! read more

The buns are so good when eaten right away while still warm. Still good the next day when reheated too. As for donuts, I'm normally not a fan but the matcha donuts are the perfect texture and not overly sweet. And makes me feel better about eating them knowing they are baked. Drink wise, thai tea is my personal favorite. And I'm super glad they have soy and almond milk substitutes for people like me who can't hold down our dairy. :) read more

Great spot to hang out and get some good brews. Had the roast pork bun, egg tart and a chocolate chip muffin. All baked fresh and you can taste it. The egg tart is the largest one I've seen and has a great crust. I will definitely come back! Thanks read more
