I am so disappointed. We went in for brunch and we waited and waited and waited to be waited on. The food itself deserves five stars, everything was delicious and perfectly cooked . When I wanted a refill for my coffee, nobody was around. And nobody was around for the rest of the meal until it was time to give us our bill and then the girl Anna was right there. I wish I could have tipped whoever the cook is and left nothing for whoever served us. Seriously poor service here. read more

I miss the old location. When you want a breakfast place to go to, this isn't what I expected. First off, the place is way too large for the amount of workers. My family and I waited over 30 minutes just to be seated at an uncleaned table. We waited 15 minutes just to get someone to serve us and bring out coffee. It took another 15 minutes to serve us and another 30 bring the food out. The food was mediocre. I got the chili omelette and it was cold and tasted weird. The eggs were oddly chewy and I can tell they didn't put much care into it. It is a massive restaurant which should be almost an applebees type restaurant. I am so disappointed in how much they've changed over one relocation. Please do not expand any more! Nobody can handle it! read more

The food is delicious, the owner and staff are friendly and engaging, and the coffee will get you going in the morning. What else can I say other than the chili omelette is sublime. The chili is homemade and could definitely stand alone as a meal. They made a special concession for my niece and nephew based on their dietary preferences and it was really appreciated. If you dine here, be sure to try the homemade muffins or any of the items from the special board. These are all homemade and crafted with care. read more

I was so excited to try this restaurant! My husband and went and I'm glad I did because I'll never go back! Our server sat us promptly and then never even gave us coffee for 15 minutes. The coffee tasted old. I did order water and never received it. My husband ordered eggs over easy and said the eggs were not cooked enough. I love supporting small local businesses. But ONE piece of toast with a $15 omelette. ONE. Glad to see them back in town, and the food is pretty good, although the corned beef "hash" was very salty. Several times over the past few years, we have had breakfast at Bre Lu. We were never very impressed with our meal. This morning we decided to give them one more chance. My husband's french toast wasn't very flavorful. My eggs were overdone, toast was burned and the home fries were the usual dry, mealy and bland. Needless to say, this was our last visit. Also, there appeared to be an increase in cost (which is not unusual these days) and there was a $1.20 service fee for whatever reason. read more

I was a big fan of the old Brea Lu in Forest ave and felt a real loss when they had to shut down after a fire. I eventually just moved on, until...I noticed that Brea Lu had reopened in Westbrook. The following Saturday, I showed up with a friend at 9:30, it was busy but not crazy, and we got a comfortable table right away. The old Brea Lu had atmosphere, an old quirky building with cozy tables and nooks. This new space is just a wide open room with high ceilings, which makes for noisiness and a lack of ambience. On the other hand, the food was just as good as I remembered. I got the classic Benedict and it was great. The eggs were perfectly poached and I was reunited with Brea Lu's home fries, which are damn good! My friend got a greek omelet and really liked it, said it had plenty of veggies and feta. Just in case you are wondering, the woman at the next table ordered a pancake and it came Brea Lu sized, slightly larger than a dinner plate! While I tried not to over stare at her plate, she took a bit, sighed and said, "just like I remember", which was a very promising indicator for my next visit! read more

First off if a breakfast place is taking the time to slow cook their corn beef I'm automatically giving them 2 stars. The owner must be a mixologist to create the pedialyte mimosa...outstanding. Not pretentious, not trying to be something it's not. Just really delicious food. Nice owners and people- at Xmas, the daughter of the owner gave my son a stocking full of authentic gifts. I had probably the worst steak and eggs I have ever consumed. The steak looked like horse meat. I should've snapped a picture but I didn't want it on my camera roll. Home fries were good but that piece of meat will steer me clear of steak and eggs until 2026. Do better. read more

The wait time between seating and ordering, then food delivery was excessive. Seemed under staffed in the kitchen, as the service people were reasonably portioned. The corned beef hash with poached eggs and home fries was good. The hash was properly grilled off and crispy on the exterior, yet soft and flavorful inside. The poached eggs were equally properly prepared, with nice oozy yoke running into the hash. The home fries were crispy and hot, with good flavor. All in all the food was good...the wait time was not. What a fabulous breakfast. Always a treat to find vegetarian "meats" on a menu. The veggie sausage omelet was perfect; huge and stuffed with fillings. The home fries crispy and well seasoned and the cinnamon raisin toast isn't your typical store bought bread but made from a bakery and encrusted in cinnamon and sugar. The staff were friendly and attentive and for arrived very quickly. The dining room is comfortable, clean and spacious while the ample parking in the back make it a really convenient place to eat as well. read more

$50 dollars for a chewy waffle and pancakes that were so cold the butter wouldn't melt even a little. Split a huge blueberry muffin, but it had no taste. Had to pay $3.00 extra for real maple syrup. We were a table of two in a dining room that had no more than 6 other diners at the time, and we watched our food sit up on the counter until we finally asked if it was ours and could be served. Sent the pancakes back to be warmed up, waited 10 minutes before they came back. No redeeming qualities about this place, and there's plenty of good competition in Portland, no need to waste money and be disappointed here. read more

Tried the pastrami hash instead. It was awful. Every other bite was full of gristle and I had to spit it out. One slice of toast. My son ordered the pancake and was asked if he wanted a large or small. He's a light eater so he wanted the small. Arrived overflowing the very large plate. When I mentioned that he ordered the small, was told by the waitress that they only have one size. Why ask? No one else complained about their order but they may have been being polite. So, it turns out that I'm actually invisible! Who'd have thought? Waited at the host stand for an unreasonable amount of time with multiple servers/hostess hovering but not one acknowledgement. Not even a "we'll be right with you". I appreciate that it can get busy and I'm always willing to wait to be seated but being ignored is just rude. Customer service is pretty important. Menu looks great and the food may be good but I guess I'll never find out. read more

Blonde hostess on Sunday was rude and on a power trip. Your pigtails and fake niceness afterwards did not make up for your bad attitude. If you can't handle managing the front of such a small establishment while being nice to paying customers, you may want to change careers. The new location in Westbrook is convenient, has parking, and the food is just as good as I remember. The only downside is how loud it is inside. I had been going to BreaLu's former location for many years, and was saddened when they had to close. I'm so glad they reopened in the 'Brook because there was a need for another, good breakfast place in town. It's easy to miss but absolutely worth while going in! Ordered the Cajun omelette and was in heaven! Most people don't think that breakfast places are anything special. Eggs toast and bacon all the same pretty much wherever you go. Brealu has made my breakfast experience something special. Everything is freshly made. No frozen crap here accept the ice in your drink! The omelette I ordered was cooked perfectly. Cajun seasoned corned beef and cheese on a bed of fluffy egg with seasoned home fries and buttered toasted Italian bread. Perfectly crisp slices of bacon on the side, you certainly will not only leave here having enjoyed an original breakfast but also never leave here hungry and will have paid a very reasonable price for it. Next time, go some place like Brealu where you can get a mimosa with breakfast! Five stars! read more

I loved the location in Portland and was so sad when I found out that they had to close. I had hoped for the same atmosphere and charm at the new location, but found an open atmosphere that's often noisy. None of that matters that much to me because they have an AMAZING peanut butter and cheese (and mushrooms) omelette. Their pancakes are delicious and HUGE!! The one reason why I'm not giving five stars is because I received poor service once. The waitress could have been friendlier and never brought me my drink. If she had come and asked how my food was, I would have mentioned it to her, but I never had the opportunity. Will not stop me from going there though!! :-) read more
