There are signs on the door that say they will be closed on a specific date, but now it has been going on for weeks. I keep calling the number, but nobody picks up the phone. I have never posted a bad review before, but if this saves one person from getting clothes ruined, it is worth it. I sent my husband's and my best clothes there and they ruined a Hugo boss suit, an Armani blazer and my best pair of pants. I only discovered it weeks after so I didn't complain-- and I live outside the area. Bleach spots on my pants and permanent wrinkle marks on my husband's suit--and the texture of my Armani blazer totally changed from a soft silky fabric to sort of a starchy nubby fabric. This is the worst establishment I have encountered in a LONG time. Maybe ever. The staff is beyond rude and unprofessional. If they paid me to bring my clothes here I wouldn't even go. Sorry to say after 30+ years of going to Branford Cleaners I must stop. No matter what i bring in w a spot comes back w the same spot or worse. I brought a brand new blazer in last week w a small food stain on lapel. I asked if they could spot it and was told they have to clean it.i said ok assuming they would spot then clean. Nope came back w a worse stain. Ended up scrubbing it out myself $10 later. Final straw today picked up $40 worth of laundry and the one piece w a stain had that all too familiar tried our best tag! Some years ago, I proudly patronized Branford Cleaners until I began to utilize my aging mom's preferred dry cleaners/tailor. Until she passed away not long ago, I was always taking her clothes to this local competitor. Therefore, I began to use their services for the sake of convenience myself---but they were expensive and rude. Eventually, my dear mom passed away. I used the cleaners at least one more time and began to feel resentful. Earlier this month, however, I bought a new jacket via mail order that was entirely too big. And I realized that I could approach the glass doors of Branford Cleaners again. First I sent an email to the business with a couple of questions. Rich, the owner, answered my query about re-situating the large, wooden buttons on the jacket. The fact that the OWNER answered me was impressive! He did this within 24 hours, too. He told me what to expect in detail and added that he thought it best to visit the cleaners for a full fitting and cost quote. When I opened their doors the following day, an associate greeted me warmly. As I explained what I wanted, their affable tailor called me over to her station where she fit the jacket to our mutual satisfaction. After she gently convinced me that some extra room would be apropos for a winter sweater, she meticulously pinned the areas for button placement. The quote was a "whopping" $10. And could I pick it up on Wednesday before Thanksgiving? Wow! I'd expected a much higher rate as the nearby competitor was exorbitant. Wrong! I also thought I wouldn't see the jacket until after the holiday. Wrong again! Then I called on Tuesday to ask if they'd be open on Friday since I didn't think I'd be able to collect the jacket the next day. Gracious Rich replied that he wanted to check with the tailor. Within five minutes, he called back and said that I could retrieve it later that day as she had just finished it. Now it would be steam pressed at no extra charge as well! Later I picked up my lovely jacket and was immensely pleased with her work. Simplicity means so much to me in a chaotic world. My only gripe? Two or three of the buttons could have been reinforced as I discovered upon getting home. They are definitely loose. I'll need to return soon in order for her to make those adjustments. Nevertheless, I'm happy to be Branford Cleaners' customer again! read more

My girl has been using this particular cleaner and alterer for many years. We've never had any issues with the service. The parking lot is small and during peak traffic hours, it's hard to get in and out smoothly. It would be nice if they had a light. read more

My heartfelt heads-up to the folks at Branford Cleaners. They deserve a "Great" review. We've brought boat and deck cushions that we thought we had to recycle, they came back almost new. My wife's Mother's beautiful bedspread needed a lining and frankly a restoration, came back better that we could have expected. We have clothes sewn and patched, giving us months and years of additional service. And their dry cleaning services are top-notch. Most of all, the people are genuine and prompt, providing us and the community with value and a warm smile. read more

I will never bring my dry cleaning to Branford Cleaners again. I have been going there for years. I have always been given a 10% senior discount since I tuned 65. I walked in today, to pick up my dry cleaning and reminded them about the discount. The girl told me she needed approval from the owner. Who of course, was not in. I explained that I always get 10% off. She would not give me the discount. I will tell all my friends who use them. I will make sure they do not give them any business. Dropped off 2 coats in October paid $43 picked them up and realized one of the belts was missing . Called and stopped in repeatedly with promise after promise of a resolution . It's now two months later and still getting the run around !!! Do not use this business . Poor customer service . I will never go back and read more

This should sound familiar to the owner. Brought in my expensive leather jacket to be cleaned. Argumentative store clerk tells me it is "policy" they do not tell you what the price to clean leather garments are because they differ in price. She continued to say when the wholesale leather cleaner picks up items from Branford Cleaners they will immediately call me to tell me the price. This didn't happen. I had to call to see how much and they quoted me the price was $10.00 more then a cleaner down the street so I said no thank you. I called Hudson (the wholesale company that cleans the leather for many area retail cleaners) and they told me their retailers, like Branford Cleaners, should have set prices on leather for their customers. A week later when I picked up my leather jacket (not cleaned) I told the same store clerk "I'm done" meaning I am never coming back to do business with a dry cleaner is disorganized, unprofessional, has higher prices, and the help really could care less if you come back or not. If you cant properly run one location what makes you think you can run a second location? One of the worst experiences with a dry cleaner in my entire life. I'm very happy with Branford Cleaners. They have a system in which they give you one of their red bags, you fill out a tag with the way you like your shirts/laundry, and then just drop off shirts either at the counter or 24/7 through a drop slot. Easy, efficient, and they do a great job with the shirts. You can keep your credit card on file with them, and they just charge it when you pick up your order. Fantastic. read more

Unreliable! I brought a pair of my military dress pants in on a Saturday that needed to be hemmed and done by Thursday. I went to pick them up and they were not finished, and the older man at the counter told me the seamstress didn't get to them and did not even apologize. I didn't even get a courtesy call stating they wouldn't be done on time. I told him I would not be paying for them when I came to pick them up and he said okay. I went back the next Monday to pick them up and he tried to charge me! When I said that I wasn't paying for them he brought them to the back and said they will be put into storage until I decide to pay. He got the manager and the manager apologized and offered to give me a discount. I explained to her that the military is not a joke and I know have to stand extra duty because of their mistake. She still made me pay! When I went on their website after I got home, I realized the price she made me pay was the monthly special price for pant hemming!! I would never go to them again, not only are they unreliable, they are pricey as well. Do not go here if you need work done on time. read more
