I decided to try a new place because Laundry Express was starting to get expensive (though they do an excellent job, so I judge all other laundromats against them). I dropped off my laundry at the 1st Ave location and Angie was really sweet and told me that I could get my laundry delivered the next day instead of driving back. Dave was super accommodating and helped get my account set up so I could get my clothes delivered. He is pretty consistent with saying when he has dropped off your clothes and is readily available by text. Prices for pick up and delivery are reasonable but it's a bit of a crap shoot if your clothes get damaged: one of my shirts were not washed separately so it stained but I was able to remove it. I sent a picture to him but it wasn't really acknowledged, which was disappointing. The second time I used them, I made explicit instructions to wash some clothes separately, including my lab coat. I had a yelp coupon and he was able to comp it via the app, which was nice, but my lab coat came back dingy. FWIW the clothes smelled clean but based on my experience I am not sure I would use them again. read more

Just moved to New Haven and looked around for drycleaning. This is about as good as it gets. Especially since Dave and company pick up and deliver straight to your door. I have all my button up's cleaned here, put it in the laundry bag (they give you), and it comes back within a day or two perfectly cleaned and ready to go. My washer broke and we had piles of clothes to clean. I called the number and the owner was 5 minutes from My house so I packed quickly and met him outside. Today is a Sunday so I just went down and picked up the laundry. All washed and folded in shrink wrap. read more

Sweet, I get to reveal to you the wonderful secret of Dave's everfabulous Spotless Laundry! This service has been a godsend since we had a baby. Their laundry prices are great - under $1/pound. Their cleaning prices are average, but they have free pickup and delivery for both. They'll keep your card on file and make everything as easy as possible for you. The phone number on the web is Dave's cell, and he answers it any time you call. He learns quickly to recognize who you are, and is happy to hear from you. Normal turnaround time from door-back-to-door is 2-3 days, but if you're in a rush let him know and he'll do his best to help you out. They do a decent job with stain removal, and a great job of folding. The laundry even comes back sorted by owner, if they can guess what belongs to whom. I was cautious about using them for the baby's laundry, but she never had any problem--and if I had wanted to use my special laundry soap instead, they probably would have obliged. There was a weird indent on my husband's shirt a couple of times after they pressed it, but Dave was super nice when I brought it up and it's never happened again. Spotless has kept me and my roommates spotless for almost 2 years now. As grad students living in an apartment without onsite laundry, the amount of time the Spotless crew saves us from having to trek to a laundromat is simply amazing. I question whether Dave is a robot though, as he has responded, multiple times, to my frantic 2AM emails regarding pickup the next day. The one time a white sweatshirt was stained from the washing process, Dave scheduled a pick-up the next day to clean that it free of charge. Prices have gone up a bit more than I expected though--it would've been nice to have some financial benefit for loyalty! I don't think I know how to fold laundry anymore. My mind was blown when I found out such a business existed. Someone coming to your apartment, taking your dirty clothes and returning them clean and folded? Sounded too good to be true. But it's not! This is a business that exists for lazy bums like you and me. Dave delivers time and time again. You shoot him a text or call him, arrange a pickup time, and he takes care of the rest (I mean it. I just waited in my apartment and he would climb up 6 flights of stairs to pick up from my unit). The service is also cheap. Since moving from New Haven, I've tried to look for a similar service, but everywhere charges at least 1.5x the rate here. The rate is $1.05/lb with a $15 minimum. If that means nothing to you, around 3 weeks' worth of laundry would come out to $15-20 for me. That might seem like a lot, but if you do the math, it really isn't. The amount of laundry I mentioned above is around 2 full loads, and a load costed $3.5 at my apartment. That's $7 total (I won't even include the cost of detergent and dryer sheets). If you get the Yelp deal of $30 for $50 of services, that amount of laundry will come out to $20 of services at most, which translates to 12 real dollars. Take the difference between the amount you pay Spotless and the amount it costs you to do laundry yourself, and you're paying less than $5 for the service. That amount of laundry usually takes me at least an hour of active work, so unless your hourly wage is less than $5, the service is worth it. ^That's how I justified my laziness... Oh and one star off because he would often arrive 10-20 min later than he stated. If you're fine with him dropping it off when you're not there, it's not a problem. read more

We had used their service for almost a year. We were very pleased at first. Things nicely folded and shirts in hangers. Pick up and delivery were timely. Everything was great. Then we started getting things from other customers in our laundry, which we returned to them, and then our things started going missing. Also started noticing powder soap stains on our clothes. Until finally our clothes were damaged with bleach. We tried getting a hold of them when things started to go missing and they seemed concerned. But when our clothes got damaged, we were not able to communicate with them through any means. Very poor service for loyal customers. read more

Spotless laundry ruined an expensive silk blouse that had a clear "dry clean only label" by running it through the laundry...when I requested dry cleaning. They simply cannot be trusted and are not competent at the most basic requirements of a dry cleaners. While they were good in the past, I hear they now outsource their dry cleaning. read more

I e-mailed Dave around 5:30pm about a pickup service, afraid it was after hours and I wouldn't hear back until the next day. He e-mailed back within an hour and scheduled the pickup for 9:30am the next day. I hadn't done laundry in a month, so he picked up all 32 lbs. of clothing (DON'T JUDGE ME!). Dave got my laundry back to me 24 hours later smelling great, folded, and even sorted. Yes, he paired my socks. A month's worth of laundry cost me about $33, which is only about $10 more than I would have paid to do my own laundry with a coin-operated service. This is an edit of a previous review. After the business saw my review, they basically refused to do a laundry pick up for me. I took down the review but since I don't intend to use this business again and I don't think people should be silenced into deleting negative reviews, I wanted to repost some feedback. If you want to see other people who feel similarly, scroll down for the "reviews not currently recommended." Pros: very very reasonable prices, laundry comes back nicely folded and smelling nice, people who run this business are friendly (or at least were to me until the negative review). They will occasionally go out of their way to do same-day laundry if you need it and make an effort to come at times that are convenient for you. Cons: I would have given this business 5 stars if not for the difficulty of communicating/scheduling (or possibly 4 stars if they hadn't refused to serve me after my prior review). I personally found them hard to communicate with/schedule with--would get last-minute texts like "10 minutes away" or "here" an hour before scheduled or "home?" and I would try to rush back to be available. For me, the whole purpose of a delivery laundry service was the convenience factor, which includes not having to text back and forth about drop off/pick up. In full disclosure, I'm not home all day and am fairly busy, so I don't doubt that I'm one of their less available customers, but I've never had any problems scheduling a Peapod delivery with a scheduled time slot or other deliveries. I just operate with a tight schedule and can't balance last-minute arrivals or lateness with my other commitments. Possible that none of the communication stuff will bother you or you have a doorman, in which case this is a great option, but it was a problem for me, as was the business's response to my criticism. read more

Wonderful service!!! I text a number and someone comes to get all of my dirty laundry and then they usually deliver it back within 24 hours! Completely worth the very reasonable price to not have to do it myself. They even gave me my own laundry bag with a custom tag with my name and address on it - very nice. I love you guys! read more

I love this laundromat. It's never crowded and they have coin dryers. I hate the ones that only allow u to dry your stuff if you have washed there also. Change machines are always in service and the woman who monitors the place is nice. read more

Spotless is AMAZING. I lived in a building in New Haven that did not have laundry machines, and so for some time, I had to lug my clothes by bike to a laundromat. Finding out about Spotless changed my life though--they can pick up at virtually any time of day, even when you're not at home. (I would leave my laundry in the foyer for them.) They would drop it off promptly the next day, sometimes even the same day, for me. And the prices are totally reasonable. Highly recommend it! read more

We just started using Dave as our laundry room is under renovation for a few weeks. Come to find out, my husband tells me he left his wedding ring in his pants and the laundry had already gone to Spotless Laundry! I was SO concerned! I text Dave right away, he confirmed he had it promptly and personally dropped it off to me himself the same day! I was SO THANKFUL that I could trust him. Like another reviewer, we signed up for this service right after having a baby. It has been marvelous. The delivery and dropoff service is seamless, and Dave who answers the phone is friendly and accomodating. The laundry comes back carefully folded, protected in a plastic bag, and smelling fresh. I'm happy to be able to second Kristin's rave review of this service. I was first looking for a shirt laundry that would pick up and deliver. I came across Spotless, read the earlier review, and gave them I try. From the first contact, they were prompt, courteous, and fairly priced. My shirts come back nicely ironed and even the sometimes pesky collar stains are gone. I recently added wash and fold laundry to the order. The bundle came back impeccably sorted and folded in a neat package. I've got a somewhat unusual pickup and delivery location and the folks at Spotless have followed my instructions perfectly. They are always available via any form of communication: phone, email, and text. This is a wonderful find and lets me spend more time on work and having fun in New Haven! Updated Review 6/19/2016: Almost two years ago, I gave this company a negative review, but am now revising it since they did make it right. The employee who ruined my items was reprimanded, the cost of my order was refunded, and the owner has since taken to handling every one of my orders personally so that nothing like that ever happens again. I'm pleased with their response, and have to give credit to how hard Dave and his wife work every day to see that their customers are satisfied. Original Review: Lost my potholders and ruined my items with bleach. They are becoming extremely careless as they push to expand their business to two locations in West Haven, and lately they have always gotten something wrong with my order. Since having ruined my items with bleach, they didn't respond to my repeated emails for over a week, and only reluctantly agreed to refund my order today. Unfortunately, they are the only laundry service in the New Haven area with a remotely quick turnaround time, and I have to depend on them because of a physical disability. Despite the long turnaround time of other companies (believe me, I've researched all of them), I'm contemplating never using this service again. read more

A lifesaver for folks without laundry on-site or just anyone who wants to leave it to the professionals. They're always responsive and can usually accommodate last minute requests for pick up and drop off. You can TEXT THEM to coordinate everything which is amazing. I've used Spotless Laundry for the last five months for pick up and drop off service and their service has gotten worse and worse as time has gone on. They do not even acknowledge requests for pick up, and since I leave the laundry on the back landing I don't see when it's picked up. There is also no rhyme or reason to the intervals between requests for pick up and actual pick up, or between pick up and drop off. I e-mailed them Thursday for a pick up and did not get an acknowledgement until today, which was after two additional pick up requests. Then, I later got an e-mail saying my door was locked and they did not have my key, which they did (I had borrowed it back to make a copy, but returned it to them Nov. 19). That and the lateness of the pick up were the last straw! Also, last month they never provided a receipt - I had to contact them to send it to me. I will say that their laundry service is very good though, at least they have that going for them. read more

I've used Spotless Laundry for about a year now, but I won't after today unless I receive some word that things have changed. In the beginning my review would have been the same as everyone else's here: 4-5 stars. In the past 5 months or so, though, the quality of service has plummeted. I decided to keep with them to see if it was a momentary blip, but alas it wasn't. The person who answers the phone and makes the deliveries has zero understanding of the importance of communication. He habitually shows up two+ hours late, with only a text saying "here" and no warning. (It's 7:40 now, and he said the laundry would be here between 4:00-5:00...still no word, despite multiple texts and calls, meaning I'm stuck inside, having to cancel my plans.) And then there were two times when it got too late and he just went home without delivering the laundry. Not until many hours after the estimated delivery time did I get a response to my numerous texts and calls, with him just saying that something came up. Fine, maybe something did come up, but he could have communicated that much earlier. One of those times I told him I needed my clothes and he came back to deliver them, the other time (the last time I used their service) I didn't bother. As for the quality of the actual wash and fold, I can't complain too much. For the price and convenience of it all, I accept the job they do. Though, if you have anything you're afraid of shrinking, don't give it to them. Everything seems to be mass dried on high heat for extended periods of time. I do not recommend using this service unless you are able to spend both days (pick-up and delivery) at home, wouldn't mind possibly not receiving your laundry, and want to have no clue what's going on throughout the entire process. It's sad, I used to recommend this company to everyone. If he would just learn to be open and honest with customers, he'd have a much better business. read more

This is not only incredibly convenient and reasonably priced, but they do a great job and the guy doing the deliveries is SO friendly. This service really is going to change my life. This Laundromat was un-nattended when I walked in. I needed help working one of the machines and there was no one to help me. Most of the machinery is old, and the place was not clean. I think that was my biggest concern because cleanliness is an important thing for me when choosing a laundromat. I think I will go to the laundromat a block over. read more

I've used Spotless for pick-up twice, now, and I can't say enough great things about it. The prices are reasonable, they do a great job, and the folding is impressive - which sounds silly, but when you're running around the way I am most of the week, being presented with a bag of perfectly-folded clean laundry is weirdly satisfying. Dave is also incredibly nice and responsive, and being able to schedule service via email and text message is a huge help. I purchased the voucher through Yelp, and they returned it to me with an $8.00 credit - most businesses will absorb that kind of credit. I'm a convert and a newly-loyal customer! read more

I have been to the location near the beach in West Haven. The facility was not clean, and the machines were not all working. If there is one thing I really look for when choosing a laundry is if it is clean or not, and this laundry was not. I can not speak for the pick-up and delivery service as I do not use it, but I was not impressed with the laundromat itself. read more

I've now used Spotless Laundry Service's pick-up and delivery service twice, and I'm a convert. I've never used a laundry service before, and it's definitely seemed like a luxury I didn't need -- but I've found myself going in too many different directions, all at once, and this company has been a huge help! The prices are reasonable, they do a wonderful job, and the folding is near-perfect... Which might seem like a silly thing to be excited over, but presentation is half the fun, I think. Dave, the owner, is incredibly nice, and being able to schedule service via email and text is so convenient. I bought the Yelp voucher, and I only used $42 -- Spotless automatically gave me an $8 credit, which really impressed me; I think most businesses would have absorbed that extra.
